Importing Audio - removes Functions Options ??

Hello
I have recently recorded to a portable hard disk recorder then upload to Logic. All works fine, however my last import will not allow the tracks to edited using the Functions in Sample Editor?? It shows each track as a stereo track and ghosts out the functions? Previously all working ok, any ideas or help greatly appreciated
Thanks!!

Check if you have the permissions to write into the directory in which you placed the audio files.

  • Adobe Captivate CS6 importing audio to the slide, worked correctly for 50 PowerPoint slides and the stopped working how do I resolve?

    Hi
I am working on a project as normal where I import a PowerPoint presentation to Captivate.  Then record the audio to the slide or if need be import the audio to the slide.  This has worked perfectly fine until today.
I went to the slide clicked on the option to import audio selected the audio and it imported to the library but not to the actual slide.
I tried doing this also from the menu bar.
Then I tried to drag and drop from the library with no luck.
I then deleted the audio file and tried the process over again.
Next I tried rebooting and starting over.
Still no luck.  What are my other options?  The file is a a mp3 that is 273 kb.
    Thank you

I'm relieved (if a little frustrated!) that others have the same issues, it makes me feel at least it's not just me! :-)
I am running Windows 7 64 bit Intel quad core processor 8Gb RAM if that helps Jim?
Another quick test shows I have exactly the same issues as shooternz and Ann Bens above at 7 & 8 respectively. An audio only or audio/video clip from Bin to SM and I can add markers on the fly perfectly. Audio/video from the timeline to SM works just the same. Audio only from the timeline will not work however.
I tried linking a video clip to my audio clip to see if that would allow me to add markers then unlink and remove the video... but when I opened that in SM the add marker button was greyed out and the keyboard shortcut (M) didn't work either!

  • What happened to the audio out function in the Music app?

I have had pretty good luck with iOS 7, but the one thing that really bugs me is that they took out the audio out function in the Music app.
In iOS 6.X's Music app the Now Playing screen had an Audio Out option at the bottom of the screen.  I am sure it was called something else, but you could tap it and choose the audio out channel you wanted to use, iPhone speakers, earphones, bluetooth and I think AirPlay.
Why would they remove this option?
I was just wondering if there is another music player that still includes this option. I use Stezza for in the car (Big buttons) and Lagu when I want the old iOS music player interface.  But neither of them include the audio select option.
I will submit this as feedback on the feedback page to see if they will consider putting it back in.

  • Importing audio from CD-where does it go?

I tried importing audio from a cd tonight for the first time, from within the audio window. Where does the file go? After I quit the song and tried to open again, the file could not be found. I tried importing again. When I put the CD in iTunes opened up and somehow renamed the CD "John Ford Radio"!? Anyway, I figured out that once the file was in the audio window I used the "move" function to copy the file to the song folder.
Is there an easier way to do this?

If you import audio from a CD, it stays on the CD. You probably saw a message something like "Insufficient privileges" which means that the OS recognised that it couldn't write the calculated wave overview back to the CD.
The best method is to copy it to your hard disk and check the Ownerships and Permissions within the Finder info. You need to have Read/Write on any audio file.
Finally, when saving your work, always use Save as Project since that will create a single folder with all your files nicely tucked away.

  • Import audio has no effect

I have Captivate 5 v5.0.1.624. I started a project as I usually do and in some slides I add a MP3 file by pressing F6, all worked perfectly.
However after adding some background music it seems that I cannot import MP3s anymore. When choosing Import audio I can select a MP3 file but then nothing happens. The audio is not added to the slide, and no error messages or warnings.
I tried to remove the background audio, restart Captivate, select different MP3 files, but nothing help, I still have the same problem.
I am completely stuck now, so any help is deeply appreciated.
    //Paolo

Hello Paolo and welcome to the forum,
Could you try a small new project to test if you are able there to insert background audio and afterwards slide/object audio?
It is indeed possible that the CP-preferences have been corrupted, as suggested in the other answer, but it is also possible that just this file has somewhere a corrupt slide(s) or objects. That is why it could be useful to try a new project.

  • App to import audio from vinyl or cassette to Mac

I would like to import audio from my vinyl and cassette collection to my iMac.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a reasonably priced App which will do this successfully?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Just tried this again.  I may be missing something with the options in the dialog box which states the following defaults:
    Format: ZIP
    Method: Normal
Exclude Mac Resource forks (selected) - don't understand what that means?
Delete files after compression - not selected.
At the foot of the dialog box it states "Drag files to RarGenie in the dock"!  Not sure what that means either.
Please don't spend any more time on this if you don't have an easy answer.  I was really hoping to hear from someone who had used an available App in the App Store which they had found easy to use and not too expensive and which could be used with an appropriate hardware device.

  • Can't import audio in AE 7.0

After Effects Freezes up when I try to import an .mp3 file (I've tried multiple) ASlso I noticed that when I try to import audio, it tries to import it as a footage item, and there's no option to change it to just audio. Thanks all

    >it tries to import it as a footage item, and there's no option to
    >change it to just audio
Which is correct. Audio files are AV items. What operating system are you on and where do those MP3s come from? Perhaps they are DRM-protected, have variable bit rates or are surround, al lof which may prevent AE from importing them 'cos it doesn't support those features. Generally you should not use MP3s in AE, but convert them to PCM (WAV or AIFF) files.

  • "Remove pulldown" option unavailable (grayed-out)

My understanding from reading the scant description in the manual, a user should have the option to select "remove pulldown" when importing from a tape-based device.  I have been testing FCP X by importing HDV material from a Sony HVR-A1U (1080i) and a JVC GY-HD110 (720p, 24fps).  In neither case am I given the "remove pulldown" option.  Am I missing something?  Thanks for any advice.

    The short answer follows:
"pulldown" is only applicable if your source material was originally film and then transferred to NTSC 29.97 standard def. video.
    The longer answer follows:
Back in the early days of video, film was transferred to video using a device called a film-chain which consisted of a modified film projector which was pointed at a TV camera. A film projector consists of a light source, the film gate (which is where each frame of film is held in place), a mechanism to advance the film through the projector at 24 frames per second (FPS), and a shutter to block the light while the film is advanced. Normal film projectors have either two or three blades so that each frame of film is flashed before the audience's eyes at either 48 or 72 FPS before the film is advanced to the next frame.
NTSC video is interlaced which means that each frame of video consists of two fields and the shutter in the film chain projector is designed so that the film is projected for a duration of 2 fields for one frame, then the film is advanced by one frame and that frame is projected for 3 fields, then 2 fields, then 3 fields. When the film is advanced throught the gate it is literally "pulled down" through the gate at this 2 field / 3 field rate. Thus the term "2-3 (or 3-2) pulldown. This adds 12 fields per second to the video stream which gets us from 24 FPS to 30 FPS.
The shutter is also designed so that the film is not projected during the vertical refresh period of the video camera.
    Hope that helps.

  • URGENT: Error while importing personalizations using Functional Admin Resp

    Hi all,
We are facing problem when importing personalizations using Functional Administrator responsibility.
We have personalised a standard oracle page in development instance and have successfully exported the personalizations in a file.
But when we try to import the same files in another instance, we get the following error when opening "Exported Personalizations" tab in "Personalizations> Import/Export" tab .
The path ' $HOME/ ' you specified does not exist. Please specify an existing path in the profile 'FND: Personalization Document Root Path'.
We have tried giving different paths in profile option 'FND: Personalization Document Root Path', but it gives the same error for every path in this new instance.
This was not the case with the development instance where we were able to import/export personalizations successfully.
Can anybody give inputs on this.
    This is a bit urgent.
    Regards,
    Anas.

What is the current value in the Profiles Form?
What is the value that is displayed in the "About this Page" -> "Profiles", from the Functional Administration screen.
Can you also confirm if the directory has 777 permissions?

  • Import Audio Files Into iPhoto

This is really a 2 part question.
I have been recording a few sound clips with a small digital pocket recorder that are family stories like "Remeber when Aunt Mildred lost her teeth?" etc. So far the only way I have found to get them into the Mac is as a Quick Time movie. It works. Naturally if there is a better way I'm interested. So the first question is: What are the ways to import small sound clips (Garage Band is my least favorite option).
On a regular QT movie, I can import them into iPhoto. But iPhoto refuses to import audio only movies. Having these in iPhoto would let me catalog these sound files in iPhoto along with the other photos and other digital camera short movies. So the second question is: How can I import sound clips into iPhoto?
By the way, setting "Open With" in the information viewer of a file [Command I] to open with iTunes get these clips into iTunes just fine. Why not a movie into iPhoto?
Has anybody else crossed this bidge before?

    Boris
There are various apps that might help with working with these sound files. What format does your recorder use. Personally I use Audacity as a sound editor (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) it's Open Source. For capturing sound that's otherwise difficult to get I use Audio Hijack (http://www.rogueamoeba.com).
When QT saves the files they are saved as .mov files, and while the Finder calls them QucikTime Movies, they are not, and iPhoto will not import them unless they have a video element. Of course, they import perfectly into iTunes.
    Some suggested solutions:
Make slide shows of Aunt Mildred, and for a soundtrack use the story of unfortunate teeth, simply by pointing to the relevant track in iTunes.
Make a movie. If you have quicktime pro it's quite easy and fast to paste some pics of Aunt Mildred to the Soundtrack. It's a little slower - but you have more options - to do it with iMovie or with PhotoToMovie (www.http://www.lqgraphics.com)
But in any event, it's only by having a movie that iPhoto will wok with the files.

  • Trying to Import Audio from CD without Adminstrator rights

    Hello,
I currently have 20+ computers running Audition and need to change my network to Active Directory signon. When I change a machine to AD and login as a USER I cannot import audio from a CD.  I get a pop up screen saying  You must be signed on as an administrator to import audio from as CD (and so on).  I know this is a windows error because none of my CD ripping programs work EXCEPT Windows Media Player.  I was wondering if ANYONE knows where I can change things so I can have users import from cd's?  I know you can "run as" but now you are giving away the admin passwords and I know I can make a user with admin rights and have them sign in under that, but you are still giving anyone who thinks about it rights to sign in as that user with admin rights.
Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

Apparently it's a deliberate policy decision on the part of Microsoft, and possibly one forced onto them by the RIAA. If you can get hold of a suitable policy editor for XP, then you can alter it. The instructions for fixing it with gpedit apparently go like this (although I've never tried it, I must admit)
Run gpedit.msc (via Start menu, Run..)
Select the following: Local Computer Policy -> Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options
Enable the option 'Devices: Restrict CD-Rom access to locally logged-on user only.'
That's all I know. If all else fails, download something like Windows XP Security Console, and try doing it with that.

  • Import Master Data Function

    Hello Experts,
I have a question as to how the BPC 7.0 SP6 NetWeaver version "Import Master Data" function behaves when importing updates.
Currently I have a dimension that I imported master data to because it exceeded the 65K rows that the Admin Tool allows.  When I load updates to this dimension using the same "Import Master Data" feature, it takes an extremely long time to import, even though I am adding ONE member to the dimension.  I am certain that I am using the Update option.
My question is that is this normal to take this long to add a single member to the dimension?  If so, what is the difference of loading one member from a file rather than the entire dimension again if you recieve no performance gains?
    Thank you,
    Mark Glowczewski

    hi andreas,
Use DTW oItems template include UDF's at end of last column.
You can import/update item master using DTW.
There are limitations in importing/updating item master using "Import From Excel".
