Importing excel to works spreadsheet??????

i can t import a simple excel 2000 doc. that a was sent to me into my works spreadsheet. the xls. doc is in my desk top and i open the works s.s. and try opening a file. change to all doc types and the xls. doc. highlights and i select. once selected my works s.s. page opens but opens empty (does not say unable or error) . i know the xls. doc. is there(just in the desktop) because when i click it in the desk top it trys to open but in excel testride. this has expired but in the back i can see all the doc. but cant access because its expired.
so i dont undestand why it will not open. the apple site says the apple translator from datavitz should/will translate this file type
please help me. im trying to keep the integrity of my apple in the office
i book g4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

The DataViz translators for Office in AppleWorks are from around the year 2001 (when they were added with the 6.1 update). They've done well until the latest Office files, both Mac & PC. Until a couple of months ago, I was able to open Office: Mac 2004 files in AppleWorks. I haven't been able to open newer PC Office files in AppleWorks for some time. Microsoft has released a couple of updates for Office: Mac recently & must have changed the file structure just enough to fail with the old AppleWorks translators.
There are a couple of options, neither ideal. Try MacLink Plus by DataViz (expensive) or icExcel from Panergy Software (about $20 or $30 bundled with icWord).

  • IMporting Excel Spreadsheets

    Hello
We recently upgraded RH in our company from x5 to HTML 6,
build 099. In a project I worked on with X5, I had imported Excel
spreadsheets saved as html and generated a primary layout without
any problem. However, in 6, when I would generate a layout, it
would get to Updating Files and RH would crash without any error. I
narrowed it down to 10 html files that were all Excel spreadsheets
saved as html and imported into my project in x5. If I deleted
those 10 files, the project would generate the layout. If I
imported any of those files, it would crash again.
To recreate the spreadsheets in RH wold just be too time
consuming, and really inefficient as I expect to get regular
updates on these spreadsheets to have available on this website via
our intranet. Has anyone encountered this before? and
    recommendations?
    Thanks!

Hi BradPrid and welcome to our community
Did these spreadsheet files have any conditional text
applied? If so, I believe a problem exists with merged table cells
(which seem quite likely coming from Excel) when you use
    conditional text.
If you can't seem to sort it, one thought would be to simply
import the Excel HTML files as baggage files. Then simply link to
    them or maybe use redirects.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Detect fields and edit imported Excel spreadsheet

i would like to know how I can detect fields for imported Excel spreadsheets so I can add and edit the spreadsheet

I have an excel spread sheet that i would like to import into form central & I would like the fields to be editable by other users.  When i try exporting the excel file as a PDF Form Central  I get this message "FormsCentral could not import the PDF document because it does not contain interactive form fields. You need to add fields to your PDF using Adobe Acrobat and import again" Is there any other way for me to do this or do i have to purchase a version of Adobe Acrobat?

  • Import Excel with Import Wizard / Problem during the import of "Actual Work" column

    Hello,
I am trying to import an Excel File (*.xlsx) to Project Server 2013 through Project Professional 2013 and Import Wizard.
I am having trouble when I try to include the column "Actual Work". After selecting the columnsmapping I am getting a strange error message saying that "The File cannot be oppened","Make sure, that the Filename and Path is right"
and some other strange messages concerning compatibility, although I am using the same File, which works perfectly without the "Actual Work" column.
I have tried as well with csv and the outcome was the same.
    Any help is welcome!
    Thank you in advance,
    Ioannis

Which DW are you using - DMX on Mac? It didn't have that
    option. This is
not an Educational version issue - it's a Mac issue.

  • IMPORT DATA -- EXCEL not working

    Hello Friends,
I am trying to import excel data into an oracle database file. I choose all columns and then when I click 'INSERT', I get the following message:
    Excel Import Selection Error
    No columns selected for insert
Could anyone help me in finding a solution for this??
I need to import excel data back into my oracle table.
    Thanking you,
    Best Wishes,
    Plascio
    [email protected]

I can reproduce this sometimes by
    1) Selecting all the columns
    2) Goto Data Types Tab
    3) Uncheck Header Row
    4) Go back to columns tab and then to datatypes tab.
In some cases there will be no columns selected and no columns assigned. if you click on insert you get the No columns selected error. In other cases there will be no columns selected and some collumns assigned (!) . If I press insert I get this
Error at line 1:insert into EXCEL_IMPORT ( VALUES()
    IMPORT into table EXCEL_IMPORTcomplete
    Inserted 0rows.
    Failed to insert 1rows.

    Hi,
You can use this function module 'ALSM_EXCEL_TO_INTERNAL_TABLE',
It works fine, Here is a sample code hwich I developed and working fine.
      FIELD-SYMBOLS: <FS1>.

  • Import Excel events, dates info to iCal

I cannot seem to find the easy way to import excel events, dates, birthday, games etc. into iCal. There has to be an easy way.

    Hi jkuyio
    1. Regarding the connection string and the provider, are you using 64 bit or 32 bit?
    2. By the way, Your question is not related to this forum i think. I mean you can use SSIS for this and work with SQL Server database as well but i think this is not the right way to do it!
In any case you can check this link for more information on connecting the MySQL from SSIS:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mattm/archive/2008/03/03/connecting-to-mysql-from-ssis.aspx
    * Basically you can connect to any data source that you have the right data provider.
** Data from Excel spreadsheet can be exported to a new MySQL database table directly, by using the Export Excel Data to New Table optionhttp://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.6/en/mysql-for-excel-export.html
** Data can be import into the MySQL as well:
    http://www.w3resource.com/mysql/exporting-and-importing-data-between-mysql-and-microsoft-excel.php
I hope this is useful :-)

Does anyone have any ideas ?
    Thanks

Joost is right, the original Metadata issue you were having with the Example Import Excel package is due to a mapping error within the package.  The package is built assuming the following columns (ie: Dimensions and Column names) for the input spreadsheet:
    Category
    Time
    Datasrc
    Intco
    Account
    Entity
    Rptcurrency
    Amount
It also has a flat file with the same fields that it maps the excel columns to then just does a standard flat file import.
If your input excel spreadsheet has different columns names (Cat instead of Category) or different columns (missing or additional dimensions), then the internal mappings will be wrong.  And all the package needs you to do is to give it the new mappings.
Open it in VisualStudio, go to the Excel file connection and connect it to a valid version of your input spreadsheet with the correct columns.  Next you'll have to add/delete/modify the columns for the TextFile connection to match.  After fixing the connection you'll have to open the EXCELTOTEXT data flow task, in there, double click on the ExcelFile task to force it to reconstruct the metadata for the new Excel file connection, correct any errors (ie: Remove fields that are not longer valid).  You need to do the same to the TextFile task and add the correct mappings between the Excel columns and the Text fields.
Last, save it back to your webfolders either as the same package name or a new name, I'd suggest a new name in My Folders keeping the original Example in tack, and then go to BPC Organize Packages to add it in.
I haven't actually done this to this specific package, but I've had issues with metadata changing in an external source being retrieved into custom packages I wrote.  So let me know if this worked.
The other problem with the standard flat file import is curious to me, you see a package status of success but the detail shows a failed step.

  • ? Office 2013 to support Excel 2003 (XLS) spreadsheets containing VBA CommandBars references

Thanks in advance for reading this and offering any wisdom you have! I am not an expert in any of the following, so apologies if off base.
The basic problem is: I need to use Excel 2013 to support Excel 2003 (XLS) spreadsheets containing VBA 'CommandBars' references which don't seem to work in Excel 2013. Details below.
Most of our users are still using older desktop windows PCs and Office 2003!  We are beginning to upgrade to laptops running Windows 8.1 with Office 2013.  Of course, we IT technical people are using the new laptops first. These new laptops are
    64 bit.
Years ago, someone did a lot of development with spreadsheets here in Excel 2003 file formats that automates many activities and routines. Now we with the new laptops are having to support this development using new machines.
There is a basic compatibility issue that appears when first opening these Excel 2003 files that have VBA code that I'll detail below; I seem able to get by that problem.
The current problem appears to be that the existing Excel 2003 VBA code has many references to: "For Each bar In Application.CommandBars". As I've learned, the Application.CommandBars VBA functionality is focused on older MS Office versions' menu
commands, but "...Starting from Office 2007 the Fluent UI is used instead."  In other words, because MS Office isn't menu-driven beginning with version 2007 (uses 'the ribbon'), it appears that these references to: "For Each bar In Application.CommandBars"
create a basic incompatibility to opening these spreadsheets in Office 2013.
For a spreadsheet, after I resolve the issue detailed below and save it, when I reopen it I encounter error "Compile error: can't find project or library."
For example, the following code snippet:
    Private Sub Workbook_Open()
    For Each bar In Application.CommandBars
            bar.Enabled = False
        Next
results in: "Compile error: can't find project or library."
(Sorry, can't include images yet, I am not a VERIFIED USER of this forum yet.)
I went into VBE's menu: Tools>References and check for anything marked MISSING, which I deselected. But I am still receiving this error.
I don't want to get into changing the code a lot to support both Excel 2003 and 2013 (I am no VBA expert, just a dabbler).
And Microsoft officially says that Office 2003 is incompatible with Windows 8 although Application.CommandBars seem to be somewhat supported in Office 2013 .
Are you aware of a quick VBA workaround to get by this?
•I could comment out the validations, commands for: "For Each bar In Application.CommandBars" but then the spreadsheet code probably won't work for users using Office 2003.
    Alternatives would be:
•Installing Office 2003 on my Win 8.1 64 bit laptop anyway, in spite of MS's saying incompatible, since this thread discusses at least one person has been able to use Office 2003
•Keeping one older PC with Office 2003 on it for us to support the old Office 2003 code until everyone upgrades their systems
    Thanks
Basic compatibility issue that seems solvable:
Opening these spreadsheets displays this error:
    Compile error:
The code in this project must be updated for use on 64-bit systems.
Please review and update Declare statements and then mark them with the PtrSafe attribute.
This seems resolvable by going into the VBA code and just adding element 'PtrSafe' where functions are declared; in other words, replacing VBA code "Declare Function" with "Declare PtrSafe Function" seems to get by this.

  • How to import excel file in oracle 10g suit

  • How do I import Excel cell data in to an already built custom list.

I have a custom list that we are using as an End Of Shift Report.
I would like to expand the list to incorporate some of our process data. (We are a paper mill). We have a data historian, PI Process Book, that has an Excel add-in, that allows us to import the process data in to Excel.
I am able to do the "import spreadsheet" function and get the data in to a new list. What I can't figure out is either how to import directly in to the custom list I have already created, or how to import from the new list to the custom list.
I could use the "new list" as a container for several different process points if I could figure out how to load the process data in to the custom list.
We are currently using WSS3, but are upgrading in either the 4th Q this year, or Q1 2014.
Any other suggestions on how to display single point data (End of Shift Inventory calculations for example) in a custom sharepoint list are welcome.
I want to take a tank level reading, which we monitor and multiply it by X gallons per foot, then load the total gallons in to the custom list

    1) Open WSS List, and Export it to Excel
    2) Open the Excel file you want to import
    3) Copy the cells in the source and paste them into the Excel file openned from the WSS List (only highlight one row to paste, it will fill down)
    4) You will see vaildation errors (yellow triangles), if there are any, correct them
    5) In the menubar go Data --> List --> Sync List
    6) You will see a blue status bar fill in the bottom left as data is copied up to the List
Or you can try the below tools

  • Imported Excel Sheet Rows won't UNHIDE

Imported basic checkbook type spreadsheet from Excel into Numbers. In original, left column has dates, but not every row -- some dates had multiple entries so several cells in column A were blank. When I imported all seemed to go okay... but then I notice some row numbers skipped. The formulas are all still correct -- but even "unhide all rows" doesn't get them to expose.
    Any thoughts?

was able to answer my own question -- seems it automatically turned on a filter for blanks in that column .... hmmmm

  • Can't import excel file using Powerpivot Import Table Wizard

I am new to the powerpivot in 2010 Excel.   I was trying to use the Powerpivot's import table wizard to import an Excel file into Powerpivot.  I was able to connect the target source file when I was in the wizard window testing the connection.
However, after I accepted to import the file and clicked finished, I couldn't see all the columns of the file were completely uploaded into the PowerPivot worksheet.  Also, the file has only 138 rows but it ends up over thousands row.  Can you please
let me kow if this feature works at all or did I miss any steps?

  • Importing excel data into oracle tables

    Hello gurus,
Importing excel data into oracle tables..
I know this is the most common question on the thread ...First, i searched the forum, i found bunch of threads with loading data using sqlloader, converting excel into .Txt, tab delimited file, .csv file etc....
Finally i was totally confused in terms how to get this done....
    Here is wat i have
       - Excel file on local computer.
       - i have laod data into dev environment tables(So no risk involved, but want to try something simple)
       - Oracle version 11.1.0.7
       - Sqlplus and toad (editors)
Here is wat i like to do ....i dont know if its possible
        - Without going to unix server can i do everthing on local system by making use of oracle db and sqlplus or toad
SQLLOADER might be one option...but i dont want to go the unix server for placing files and logs and stuff.
Wat will be best and simplest option to do?? and wat format will best to convert from excel into csv, or txt or tab delimited etc.....
If you suggest sqlloader, any code example will be greatly appriciated.
    Thank you so much!!!

    Imran,
This is increadible option in toad!!! It works absolutely sweet!! I have toad 9.7 version. IT works great. Thank you so much!!You are welcome :)
Well i have further discussion on this ....this option is great if you doing in staging or development area. What if your doing in prod?? If you automating the sqlloader then how do u do it?? I think we still need to stick with traditional approach of laoding data by making use of SQLLoader right ?? If m wrong please correct me.well, in our case, we do have access to a custom schema in prod where we create the staging table and load the data from datafiles.
    try this:
    load data
    infile 'C:\dest.csv'
    into table dest_table
fields terminated by "~" optionally enclosed by '"'
    TRAILING NULLCOLS
    (name,
    owner_nm,
    description_column,
    UPDT_DT DATE 'MM/DD/YYYY')
    {code}
you can get more info about sql loader and your error here:

    http://www.allinterview.com/showanswers/53766.html
And one more quick question ...i found an example of control file , in that i see .dat format file. Is it a data file ?? can i try that option ?? But in excel i didnt see to convert the .dat format file.
    Any thoughts ???
It is same as a delimiter text file.
steps to create a .dat file (from a excel file):
    1. Insert a column between two columns and populate it with the delimiter (in our case, it is ~)
    2. Save the file as unicode text.
    3. Open the file in text editor and remove all the tabs (find an replace with blank)
    4. Save the file as "DEST.dat". Select encoding as UTF-8 while saving.
    5. Your .dat file is ready.
    Regards
    Imran
