Importing function with multiple ref cursors in Stored Procedure of Oracle 12c database Using EF6

Hi Good day!
I can able to import function for stored procedure of oracle db and able to add the complex type and get the output but i tried to import the procedure which having two ref cursors and unable to retrieve the column information. Only able to retrieve the
columns of first ref cursor.  Please help me to get the result of two ref cursors which acting as out parameters.

Having to ref cursors return mutiple recordsets in an Oracle package is like haveng two resultsets return from a MS SQL Server sparc.

  • Data Set with multiple ref cursors

    Hi ,
    I need to design an integrated report , i created my data set with a oracle procedure which returns "multiple ref cursors" . In this case birt is displaying all output columns together and it is difficult to identify which column belongs to which ref cursor and if there are any columns with same name in both output cursors , it displays only one. Is there any way to handle this ? or how we handle a data set which contains multiple ref cursors in output ??

  • Reports 3.0, Ref Cursor from stored procedure

    I have a problem trying to use Ref Cursor as datasource (i.e.
    Ref Cursor Query) in Reports 3.0
    I have created a stored package with a function which returns
    Ref Cursor.
    That function just opens the cursor and returns it to the
    calling module.
    Reports recognizes returned cursor - it creates a group for that
    query, with all columns, than I built
    a layout model - everything is OK on that stage.
    During the execution of that report (from previewer or using
    Reports Runtime) I got an error message like that:
    REP-0065 Virtual Memory System Error
    REP-0200 Cannot allocate enough memory cavaa22
    Error's description does not correspond the reality :) - there
    is enough virtual & physical memory according to
    Task Manager information.
    So, that does not work when this package is stored one.
    When I create the package on the client side - in Reports -
    everything works just fine.
    Cursor is opened with a very simple query, selecting records
    from the very simple table having only one record.
    There is no code written which closes that cursor or fetches the
    records.
    Client platform: WinNT 4.0 SP3
    Oracle Reports: 3.0.5.8.0
    Oracle Server: Oracle8 8.0.5.0.0 (and I tried also on Oracle7
    7.3.4.3.0)
    Thanx.

    Sara,
    GTT (Global Temporary Tables) in Oracle work a different way compared to SQL Server and Informix. There you can create temporary tables on the fly and drop them on the fly.
    Here you should (note, you don't have to, but, best practice says that you should) create the table using the syntax...
    create global temporary table.....
    Once you create it, even though it looks like persistent table, it's not. It will have it's own individual data PER SESSION . You have two types of GTTs:
    ON COMMIT PRESERVE ROWS and ON COMMIT DELETE ROWS (they work in slightly different way).
    Look up GTTs here:

    subba wrote:
    1) How to use ref cursors in procedure. what is the main use.All SQL in Oracle are parsed as cursors in the Shared Pool. The client code (be that PL/SQL or Visual Basic or Java) gets a handle or reference to this SQL cursor on the server.
    Using this handle, the client can fetch rows using the cursor (the cursor is like a program - the executable binary version of the source SQL code).
    Clients implement their interfaces with this SQL cursor handle in different ways. PL/SQL alone supports:
    - implicit cursor handles
    - explicit cursor handles
    - DBMS_SQL cursor handles
    - reference cursor handles
    Why so many? Different tools for different jobs. Each has its pros and cons and each is suited for specific (and different) types of problems.
    A ref cursor is special in that PL/SQL can pass this SQL cursor reference handle to an external client to use - like Java.
    Why?
    The basic concept is that of abstraction. Removing the complexities of SQL and the database design and SQL optimisation from the Java code. Instead, Java calls a PL/SQL proc. This proc creates the SQL cursor, and uses a reference cursor variable to store the SQL cursor handle. It can then pass this to Java. This means that the entire SQL is encapsulated in the PL/SQL proc. We can now modify it, optimise it, support data models changes in the database via the PL/SQL proc... all without even having to recompile the Java code that makes the call and consumes the ref cursor the PL/SQL proc gives it.
    2) How to close ref cursors in procedure.If it is need.Yes. A very important factor - well spotted.
    As PL/SQL can pass ref cursors to external clients. it does not automatically close these cursors. It does not know when the client has consumed the cursor. It will only close it when the cursor is still open, when the Oracle server session is terminated.
    So it is important that the client (Java in this case) closes the cursor when done. If not, the cursor will remain open, will continue to occupy server resources... and if the client opens more and more of these cursors, the server process will run out of resources.
    Cursor leakage by Java developers are common - and can simply be avoided by closing the cursor once the Java code has consumed it.
    3) How to use exceptions in procedures for ref cursors.No. Why? Why would you want to deal with the exception in a PL/SQL proc? The Java code wants to open that cursor. It knows why. It knows what to do when that cursor fails or is empty. It interacts with the user. How is the PL./SQL proc, whose only function is to construct the SQL and pass the cursor handle to Java, to know any of this?
    Exceptions in this regard should typically be handled in Java. Not in PL/SQL.
    Of course, if that PL/SQL proc has parameters, it also needs to validate these and it needs to raise application exceptions to inform the Java caller when these parameters are invalid.
    But actually catching exception in this case... does not make much sense. As what can the PL/SQL do about the error when it is a "server" and Java is the "client"?
    It is like saying that the Oracle Server should handle all exceptions when TOAD is used and incorrect SQL is passed to it. How does it make sense for Oracle to process SQL errors and the TOAD client not getting any results from a wrong SQL and not knowing that there was even an error with that SQL?

    Hello,
    Thanks for the reply. Actually I have seen that post before creating this thread. I thought that I could make use of java mail to work around this problem. I created a java class that succesfully sends mail to SSL host. I tried to call this java class from pl-sql through java stored procedure. That did not work
    So, is this not supported in Oracle ? Please note that I have tested this in both 9i and 11g , in both the versions I got the error. You can refer to the code in the above post.
    Thanks

  • URGENT: Java stored procedure on oracle 92 database is not working

    Hi,
    I am having an issue regarding java stored procedures. I have created a java class that uses the bouncycastleprovider ( bcprov-jdk13-141.jar ) to encrypt strings. I tested against the version of the java virtual machine that comes bundled with oracle and it works perfectly. I then used JDeveloper to load the class on the database with the resolve, noverify and order flags checked and it shows no errors but when I try to execute the stored procedure it throws the following exception:
    java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError:
    java.lang.SecurityException: Cannot set up certs for trusted CAs: java.net.MalformedURLException: no protocol: US_export_policy.jar
    at javax.crypto.SunJCE_b.<clinit>(DashoA6275)
    at javax.crypto.Cipher.a(DashoA6275)
    at javax.crypto.Cipher.getInstance(DashoA6275)
    at RijndaelEnhanced.encrypt(RijndaelEnhanced.java:57)
    at RijndaelEnhanced.encrypt(RijndaelEnhanced.java:73)
    I loaded jce1_2_2.jar, sunjce_provider.jar, bcprov-jdk13-141.jar. Also replaced the US_export_policy.jar, local_policy.jar with the unrestrictive version. I add the security provider dinamically with a call to Security.insertProviderAt(new org.bouncycastle.jce.provider.BouncyCastleProvider(), 2);
    I also did a select on the user_objects table and all the classes are in VALID status.
    When I run my application using the java virtual machine that is located under C:\Oracle\oracli9i\jdk\jre\bin directory it works fine but when I try to execute on the database it won't work. I found a bug that was if the jce1_2_1.jar file existed in the C:\Oracle\oracli9i\jdk\jre\lib\ext directory ( even if it's extension is renamed ) it won't work because the certification file had expired but I don't know if this has anything to do with this error.
    Am I missing something?
    Please I need an urgent solution to this problem.
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to verify stored procedures in Oracle 10g.

    I would like to locate default stored procedure in Oracle 10g database.
    And Suggest which stored procedure can be converted in to JAVA code ??

    If the Java part of the question refers to looking for potential to speed up your stored procedures:
    You should consider native compilation which transfers your code to shared libraries which are bound to the DB kernel.
    In this case however consider, that this does not make any sense/improvement for pure data access statements but only for procedures consisting of complex algorithmic processing.

  • How to call a Stored Procedure with a REF CURSOR output parameter

    I am looking forward an example that call a stored function/procedure with a REF CURSOR output parameter and get the result.
    In other words, I have a stored function/procedure that execute a SELECT statement using the OCI library and then it could get the values of each column and each row.
    I put a code snippet, it have only the main thing to call a simple stored procedure and print the name of each column of the cursor, but I couldn´t to print out the values in the table that call the stored procedure.
    I understand that the next step, it is to call a OCIStmtFetch.
    How to associate the cursor with the OCIStmtFetch?
    If you need more information, only tell me.
    I am using ANSI C with HP-UX Operative System (C for HP-UX) and Oracle 10g.

    Hi Mark,
    Thanks for your recommendations.
    I change the code with OCIDefineByPos, one for each parameter from cursor and then use the OCIStmtFetch.
    I don´t receive a error when call OCIDefineByPos, but when I call OCIStmtFetch receive a -1 error number.

    <b>Difficulties replacing some BC functionality with XI (refer to example)</b>
    I am transferring all interface processing from BC to XI and am having difficulties replacing some of the current BC functionality.  Please refer to my example below
    <b>Current process</b>
    <b>SAP R/3</b>
    SAP R/3 executes an abap that extracts certain data.  This data is passed via a remote function which is configured to point to Business Connector
    <b>Business Connector</b>
    Business Connector takes control and the relevant package does some internal processing then calls the remote enabled function BAPI_ACC_BILLING_POST
    <b>SAP R/3</b>
    Control is returned to SAP R/3 to post the data and on completion control is returned to Business Connector
    <b>Business Connector</b>
    Business Connector again takes control where some more processing is done to generate an xml version of the data prior to returning control back to SAP R/3
    <b>SAP R/3</b>
    Control is returned to the abap immediately following the call to the remote function and processing completes
    The initial synchronous call from SAP R/3 to Business Connector remains open whilst Business Connector executes a subsequent synchronous call to SAP R/3.
    Finally the initial synchronous call in SAP R/3 completes
    <b>Proposed Process</b>
    I am transferring all interface processing from BC to XI and am having difficulties replacing some of the current BC functionality.  In this instance I can set up the initial synchronous call via an XI Integration Process (sync/async bridge).  This allows me to perform subsequent asynchronous calls prior to closing the synchronous bridge
    I have successfully performed synchronous calls to SAP R/3 from XI for different scenarios and have set up the XI design and config in the same manner
    When I try to perform the synchronous posting back to SAP R/3 from within the SA bridge I get the message ‘Message is incomplete. No Sender found’
    Unlike BC, it appears that XI does not allow me to perform the synchronous posting back to SAP R/3 from within the SA bridge.
    <b>Refer to</b> http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/83/d2a84028c9e469e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm <b>for the SAP description</b> To enable the communication between a synchronously calling business system (synchronous outbound interface) and an asynchronously called business system (asynchronous inbound and outbound interface), you can define a sync/async bridge in an integration process. You can only define one sync/async bridge for each integration process.
    How can I replace the current BC functionality using XI?
    Regards,
    Mike

    Hi all,
    I cannot replicate the current BC functionality in XI
    So I will take this opportunity to simplify and improve the design for XI --> R/3
    Regards,
    Mike

  • Creating a function having a ref cursor returned

    I get an error message for the following code below. I am trying to create a function that allows the users to pass in a certain parameter which is used to invoke a specific query for the paramented passed in. • Retruring Multiple rows from a Stored Procedure

    The Oracle JDBC documentation shows how to return a cursor pointer through the parameter list of a stored procedure allowing a Java program to use the cursor like a normal result set. I've tried it (using the thin driver) and it works fine - however, I'm having trouble getting this to work running the program under a Weblogic server (using their own JDBC implementation). So, I have two questions:
    1) Has anyone had this problem before and solved it ??
    2) Are there any other techniques for getting multiple rows back from the database without having to fire "raw" sql at it ?

    Hi
    You could return not resultset but array, for example:
    PACKAGE TEST:
    type string_table is table of varchar2(80)
    index by binary_integer;
    function get_something (
    something1 out string_table,
    arraylength in number
    ) return number;
    PACKAGE'S BODY:
    function get_something (
    something1 out string_table,
    arraylength in number /** length of the array **/
    ) return number as
    cursor C is
    select something1, ...
    from test_table;
    pos number := 1;
    begin
    for position in C loop
    exit when (pos > arraylength);
    something1(pos) := position.something1;
    pos := pos + 1;
    end loop;
    return (pos - 1);
    end;
    Of course in this example you need to know length of your array
    (arraylength parameter), but you can avoid such problem, for
    example, by using DBMS_SQL package (or dynamic SQL feature in
    the Oracle8i).

  • Convert Informix "with resume" feature in stored procedures to Oracle PL/SQL

    I am trying to convert an Informix stored procedure with the "return value with resume"
    feature into Oracle PL/SQL.
    So far, all I have gathered is that I need to use packages and reference cursors.
    What is hazy is that how and when does this value get returned? Is it on the execution of the FETCH statement or do I need to specify a RETURN statement.
    If anybody has any ideas or better yet any
    concrete examples, please email me.
    Thank you.

    This is a small example of the use of ref cursor , for further details see the Oracle documentation
    PL/SQL User's Guide and Reference
    Release 8.1.6
    A77069-01 . The stored procedure converter for informix (downloadable from Oracle Technology Network) does not unfortunately cover this situation.

  • Call a function inside a package from a stored procedure

    Hello:
    I am kind of new to the stored procedure. Does anyone know how to call a function inside a package from another stored procedure?
    I have a existing function (func_b) inside a package (pack_a) and it returns a cursor. I want to call this function from a stored procedure (proc_c) so that I use the data inside the cursor.
    can I do the following in proc_c:
    my_cursor1 SYS_REFCURSOR;
    begin
    my_cursor1 := exec pack_a.func_b
    end
    It will be very helpful if anyone can point me to any reading or example. Thank you very much for your information.

    guys:
    Thank you for your information so far. I need some more help here. I was able to run the function in my stored procedure. However, I was not able to print the result on the screen to view the cursor result, although I am using dbms_output.put_line statement inside my stored procedure.
    I use the following statement to execute my stored procedure on sql*plus. I can tell the stored procedure is executed successfully, but I did see anything printed:
    DECLARE TEMP VARCHAR2(100);
    BEGIN PROC_LAWS_CAD_NAME_SEARCH('LPD', 'TEST DEVICE ID', 'TEST LAST NAME', 'TEST FIRST NAME', 'F', '11112009', TEMP); END;
    I tried to use 'set serveroutput on' and got the following error:
    ERROR:
    ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: host bind array too small
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    I am kind of confused now. thank you for your help.

  • Returning SQL cursor from Stored Procedure

    Hi,
    I have a query regarding returning sql cursor from stored procedure to java in oracle 11g.
    I want to query some data ex: my query returns A, B, C. Also, now I want to query some other data ex: D, E, F. Now I want to return this data as an sql cursor as a single row . Example: A,B,C,D,E,F. Is it possible to return/create a cursor in stored procedure?
    assume both query returns equal number of rows.. however both are not related to each other..

    assume both query returns equal number of rows.. however both are not related to each other..It sounds like what you need is a ref cursor.
    First thing to remember though is that cursors do not hold any data (see: {thread:id=886365})
    In it's simplest form you would be creating a procedure along these lines...
    SQL> create or replace procedure get_data(p_sql in varchar2, p_rc out sys_refcursor) is
      2  begin
      3    open p_rc for p_sql;
      4  end;
      5  /
    Procedure created.
    SQL> var rc refcursor;
    SQL> exec get_data('select empno, ename, deptno from emp', :rc);
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL> print rc;
         EMPNO ENAME          DEPTNO
          7369 SMITH              20
          7499 ALLEN              30
          7521 WARD               30
          7566 JONES              20
          7654 MARTIN             30
          7698 BLAKE              30
          7782 CLARK              10
          7788 SCOTT              20
          7839 KING               10
          7844 TURNER             30
          7876 ADAMS              20
          7900 JAMES              30
          7902 FORD               20
          7934 MILLER             10
    14 rows selected.
    SQL> exec get_data('select deptno, dname from dept', :rc);
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL> print rc
        DEPTNO DNAME
            10 ACCOUNTING
            20 RESEARCH
            30 SALES
            40 OPERATIONS
            50 IT SUPPORTWhich takes an SQL statement (as you said that both your queries were unrelated), and returns a ref cursor, and then your Java code would fetch the data using that cursor.
    Now, as for getting your rows to columns and combining two queries that do that... something along these lines...
    SQL> select * from x;
    C
    A
    B
    C
    SQL> select * from y;
    C
    D
    E
    F
    SQL> ed
    Wrote file afiedt.buf
      1  select x.col1, x.col2, x.col3
      2        ,y.col1 as col4
      3        ,y.col2 as col5
      4        ,y.col3 as col6
      5  from (
      6        select max(decode(rn,1,col1)) as col1
      7              ,max(decode(rn,2,col1)) as col2
      8              ,max(decode(rn,3,col1)) as col3
      9        from (select col1, rownum rn from (select * from x order by col1))
    10       ) x
    11  cross join
    12       (
    13        select max(decode(rn,1,col1)) as col1
    14              ,max(decode(rn,2,col1)) as col2
    15              ,max(decode(rn,3,col1)) as col3
    16        from (select col1, rownum rn from (select * from y order by col1))
    17*      ) y
    SQL> /
    C C C C C C
    A B C D E F... will do what you ask. For further information about turning rows to columns read the FAQ: {message:id=9360005}
