Importing installed fonts into CS6

Hello everybody,
I have acquired InDesign CS6 for a couple of my users and have installed our firm’s standard Marketing font (various weights of HelveticaNeueLTStd) on their PCs and added the font files to the InDesign folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS6\Fonts, installed from there as well, however the fonts do not seem to import into InDesign when it is run.
I have followed all direction I have found online without any success.
Is this something someone has seen before and if so, how did you resolve it?
Would be most grateful for any help/direction at all.
Thank you.
Henry

Hi P Spier,
All of that basic stuff done, however I did not delete the .lst file.
Once that was done and the PC was restarted, my new fonts now appear in InDesign.
Guess you are Mr FixIt!!!
Most grateful for your solution.

  • Importing PDF file into CS6

    Hello,
I am using the trial version of CS6 to see if this software would work best for what our company would like to accomplish. I currently have a pdf file that contains a parts book I would like to convert into a digital publication but I can not seem to figure out how to do so. I am using this book as our test to see the ease of use and overall quality of the software. Any suggestions on how to import my file into CS6?
    Thank you in advance.

The end result is we are looking for a software that we can use to create digital copies of everything from Employee handbooks to Sales Binders.
    That is a fine idea.
Does that help? I need a software where we can not only design new pages but also import in pages that already exsist.
If the pages that already exist are only available to you in PDF format, then you have a rough slog ahead of you. I'd go so far as to call your project Nigh Impossible.  However, if you can get your hands on the source files from which those PDFs were generated, then it becomes Kinda Possible. So, like Mike, I'd want to ask first whether or not those source files were available to you, and what format they were made in.
I'd also like to repeat Bob's point that you cannot become enough of an expert in InDesign to know whether or not it would be a suitable product for your project in thirty days - unless you were already experienced in something like Quark or Ventura.
Lastly: what the heck do you mean by "digital publication"?  Do you just mean "a file"? I guess so, since you are comparing against printed binders. But it's hard to tell.

How can I import my fonts into illustrator? Seems its only giving me the option to import via Typekit. But I want to use my older fonts or new downlaoded fonts.

  • How to install Fonts into Adobe Illustrator

I am using a computer that runs on Snow Leopard 10.6.8
Hi there I want to know  how to install new Fonts / Typefaces into Adobe Illustrator CS3?
I am also curious as to how I would install fonts on other Adobe CS applications?
All help, links, and resources much appreciated.

I just dragged and dropped the downloaded ".tff" font files into in Font Book icon in theDock and a new window popped up and just click "Install Font" button.
That works, too. Sets are, more than anything else, just a way to organize your fonts by project. By dropping the font in, it should now be listed in one of the standard headings like "Computer".
The new fonts have automatically loaded into Adobe Illustrator CS3 without having to close it.
Better apps will see when fonts have been enabled or disabled without having to close and restart them. Microsoft Word (and likely the entire Office suite) does not.

  • Importing custom fonts into iPhone apps - HELP?!

Hey guys, new to these forums. Just wondering if somebody could answer a few questions regarding successfully importing and using custom fonts into iPhone applications. As shown here,
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=569311
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1447085
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/360751/can-i-embed-a-custom-font-in-an-iphone -application
some have shown success in doing just that. To those who have done it, what i wanted to simply ask is:
What type of subclass did you put the code in? Mines is a UIView subclass but doesnt work.
What kind of interface and with what controls are you using? I am simply making a UIView with the code in order to test to see if it works and test other properties and customizable functions of the custom fonts. It doesnt work.
What specific property declarations must be in the .h file? I have none and it doesnt work.
Note that when I say it doesnt work, it actually compiles without errors, but when I build and go I just get a blank grey screen.
    What say you?

To use Stanza you need Stanza's desktop client in order to get your books onto the iPhone. If you have an account with eReader.com, you can upload personal content to your bookshelf and transfer them to eReader on your iPhone in the same way you do books purchased from eReader's website. Keep in mind that neither will work with MobiPocket books that are DRM protected. Stanza will work with non-DRM formatted books (including Mobi's format), but nothing which has DRM protection. I have both and use Stanza for anything without DRM protection, and eReader for books Palm formatted books with DRM protection.

  • Installing font indesing cs6

    Hi
i need to install fonts for using on a indesing document, i recevived the fonts, but indesing doesn't recognize them and I have fontexplorer doesn't recognize them too.
I have tried to copy the fonts in the library folder of the systam (mac) and in the fonts folder of indesing, but when opening the document, it says the fonts are missing.Indesign cs6.
I don't know why the files show zero bytes
    any idea?
    thanks

We used to see this when burning CDs, though it's more than ten years since I worked at that company
Well, looking at the file dates in the screenshot, it's been more than ten years since these files were created. Reassembling resource and data fork is doable, but it's been ten years since I knew how.
fireblade, if you have access to the source Mac then make sure that the files aren't already zero K there. In ye olden days the secret was to avoid zipping and only use Stuffit, but unless the source Mac is running 10.3 or whatever, then I doubt that this trick will help you.
I see a reference to "afm" in that screenshot. I recall that as a dead giveaway that these files were originally compiled on Windows. Did Mac T1 fonts have the separate afm and pfm files as they did on Windows? Once again, this is all too far in the past for me to have clear memories.
Dang it, when did I get old? I forget that, too

  • Installing fonts into font book

I'm having a problem installing some fonts into Font book. I've got he fonts on my desktop, when I double click them, Font book opens them up. When I then click "install font", nothing happens. I've changed the destination via preferences in Font book (default install location). Still nothing. Something interesting though, it looks like somethings happening when I click install. The Font book window kind of blinks, then "Baskerville is selected. But no new fonts.

I'm having the same issue trying to install an .otf font, which the article says I should be able to install and the font company hasn't had any trouble with in the past. Any other ideas?

  • Installing fonts into library?

I have been having issues with adding some fonts to my archive, and there doesn't seem to be any application that I can use to install them. I would appreciate any help I can get because my typography is really lacking.

Separately, just open Font Book and drag your fonts into the window. Also, if you double click the font you get a window saying something like "do you want to install this font?" Then click on the button.
Also, check out the help on font library in the finder.

  • Problem importing 3D objs into CS6 extended

Hello, I want to notify adobe that CS6's 3d features currently have a fatal flaw in regards to obj's in that if you import an obj that had its uv's unwrapped in any other program (in my case, Maya 2012 and Headus UV Layout) then photoshop will split the model along the uv seams causing the UV seams to become unpaintable and also causing a lot of extra work when you reimport the obj into any other program because then all of the edges need to be reattached.
When obj's are your only choice, this makes photoshop CS6 unusable for any real texture editing.

Here's some additional info that I posted in another thread a while ago.
If you completely cover your (still welded) sphere with black paint in Photoshop then the resulting texture is this:
Here is the UV mesh overlayed to show that the paint does not spread beyond the UV boundaries:
Paint is required beyond the boundaries. Otherwise, when the texture is interpolated for rendering (high quality rendering or OpenGL display rendering) on the model, unpainted pixels can be "pulled in" at boundaries, creating a cracked appearance.
The following texture will not be rendered with cracks because the black paint bleeds beyond the borders. (Obviously, the UV mesh lines wouldn't be in the real texture and are there only to illustrate the bleed.)

  • Import new font into iMovie?

I bought a .TTF font and installed it in Fontbook. It shows up in other places (Quicktime Pro, Adobe Indesign etc) but not in the list of fonts for iMovie HD 6. Can't believe I couldn't find anything about under this entire thread. The font sits in the Users>Library>Font folder. Thanks for clues.

You should heed the warning. Can't tell what the problem is. Might be the font somehow got corrupted.
I would try the oft applied maintenance of deleting preferences and doing a permissions repair. To delete preferences, close iMovie and trash the file named com.apple.iMovie.plist found in User (the house icon)/Library/Preferences. Also, drag to your desk top the FontCollections file (NOT the Font Book) found in User (the house icon)/Library.
Then do a permissions repair using the Disk Utility app found in HD/Applications/Utilities. In the left hand pane of the Disk Utility window select your hard drive icon and then click on repair permissions. Takes about 3 minutes to repair. Then relaunch iMovie and see if you still have the problem. iMovie will recreate the .plist file that you deleted, as well as the FontCollections file. After confirming that the FontCollections file has been replaced in User/Library, you can delete the one on your desk top.
If you still have the problem, you might try clearing the troublesome font out of your system, and then reinstalling, following the directions for "Installing a font" in the Help menu. Skip trying to drag into the computer folder.
I can't think of anything else to try right now.

  • Why can't I import .scc files into CS6?

The manual clearly states: "Premiere Pro supports importing Closed Captioning files in .mcc, .scc, .xml, or .stl filename formats."
I've got .scc files, but the File > Import does not see them.  When I import the folder containing them, the error says they are not supported.
    Very frustrating!

The Closed Caption workflow is a bit different in CS6 then in CC. In Premiere Pro CS6 you actually attached the CC file rather then imporitng it. Here's how:
Select the sequence, and then select Sequence > Closed Captioning > Attach File. To display attached closed captions, go to the Program Monitor's wing menu and select "Enable" under the "Closed Captioning Display" option.

  • How do we import a font (Japanese) into CS6 for titles?

We want to buy the English version of CS6, but we want to put Japanese subtitles on our videos. How do we get Japanese characters into CS6?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

You install fonts into the Operating System by right clicking on them and choosing Install.
Installed fonts should be available to any software on the system that allows font selection.
The bigger issue, I think, will be typing them out using an alphanumeric keyboard.
