Importing movies from iPhone into iPhoto

Hi,
I hope someone can explain me the following:
- imported videos from my iphone into iphoto
- in the events the videos are shown BUT the picture shown for the video isn't from that video & when i open the video to play it shows the correct video (i know     this as the events are organized per day and the picture shown for the movie is actually a picture from another event)
Anyone has an idea or did I do something wrong.
Thanks

Sounds more like you need to rebuild the thumbnails.
Back Up and then try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to rebuild the thumbnails. It can take 3 or 4 goes for this to work

  • SL & permissions when importing photos from iPhone into iPhoto

    Got a weird one here.
SL, iphoto '09, iphone os 3.
Before SL, I could import photos from the iphone into a shared iphoto library and the default file permissions on uploaded photos would be read-only to all users, and so all users of the Mac could happily see all uploaded photos.
However, since SL, the default permissions to all are No Access (changing the permissions on the underlying file sort this, but that's a tedious manual operation of course).
Strangely though if I connect a digital camera then the default permissions for photos uploaded from that are read-only to all as desired. So it does look like an issue around the combo of SL and iPhone.
Anyone got any ideas on how I can get the behaviour I want with SL?
    Thanks,
    Marlon

    HI,
    Try repairing disk permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • Can't import photos from iPhone into iPhoto

If i try to do a batch import, it says there's a problem downloading an image. If I try to import one image, it says the file is in an recognizable format. It's a jpg.
Any ideas how I can get my photos and videos off my iPhone and why it won't import?

When googling the error number, the second and last result (your post is the first) on http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=946758&page=8 says :
"Nevermind, I've tried using image capture and preview to import but i keep getting "The operation couldn't be completed.(com.apple.ImageCaptureCore error-9912.)"
After doing some digging around i found this old (2006) response from the apple threads:
    REFRESH PHONE
Hold down the power button and the home button until the Apple appears on the screen, then let go.
    REFRESH SYNC HISTORY
Find iSync under Applications and Open it.
On the top menu click on iSync and choose Preferences.
Under the Advanced Section click on Reset Sync History. (It may appear as nothing happened, but something did in the background, the history was reset)
Go ahead and close iSync and then try importing your photos with iPhoto again
    It worked like a charm"
Resetting the Sync history on iSync and soft rebooting the iPhone surprisingly did it for me. I'm not sure it's an universal fix and it's quite cumbersome (I forgot I still had an iSync application on the mac).

  • IPhoto 11 (9.3.1) Q: howto delete already imported Photos from iPhone with iPhoto?

    iPhoto 11 (9.3.1)
    Steps:
    a) i startet iPhoto
    b) choose device iphone
    c) marked some phots
    d) clicked on import selected photos
    e) delete photos after import: NO
    f) photos imported to iphoto library
Now i have my photos imported.
when i now go in iPhoto to my iphone device i see now a section with my already imported photos
Q: how i can delete some of this already imported Photos from iPhone with iPhoto?
    PS:
i know there is the "Image Capture" app. but i like to do this with iPhoto, because i see there the already imported photos which i can delete safely from iphone.

You'll need to create a new, temporary library and import into that with the option to delete from your iPhone. Then delete the library and go back to your current library.

  • Has anyone noticed how much slower it is to import photos from iphone to iphoto

has anyone noticed how much slower it is to import photos from iphone to iphoto in Mac OS.?

How many photos do you have in your iPhoto library? As your library grows, it will take more time to load when the app launches.Personally, I have not noticed any slowdown.
And my question was meant to find out whether you import process had gotten slower than...a year ago, a month ago, compared to other photo apps? Running Mountain Lion..since you upgraded? In the end..what? Hence, I asked.
Try being clearer next time. That way we don't have to beat around the bush when trying to help you.

  • How can I import pictures from aperture into iPhoto

Since moving to mountain lion OSX, I can't find a way for importing pictures from aperture into iphoto. There used to ba a tab under archive in iPhoto where you could view the aperture library and select pictures to import them into iPhoto. This tab has diappeared. Could anyone tell me how it's done now?

I noticed indeed that you can change the library under "archive" in iPhoto but when I choose aperture library I can't find the same structure of albums as in aperture.
Sorry I don't understand this. What is "archive"?

I have detele the iPhoto cache from user/library/caches/com.apple.iPhoto but it made no difference.
    Any advice is welcome.

Yes, I did solved the problem. It was not with iPhoto but with the iTunes. Once I delete my phone profile all worked. I did not write the steps down but if you do it please post it here.

  • Importing "photo library" from iphone into iphoto

I'm trying to import my photo library on my iphone into iphoto. It will only allow me to import the "camera roll". Any suggestions on how to do this?

This is exactly what happened to me too. My TimeCapsule had backed up most of my albums but the last 2 or 3 were lost. I am also emailing them to myself ... or to my MobileMe library online. This is very slow and tedious. I may try that 3rd party program as well. I'm also gonna check the app store to see if there is something in there we could try ...

  • Can't finish importing photos from iPhone to iPhoto

I have about 2,000 pictures in my iPhone 4.
When I try to import my photos from iPhone to iPhoto Library, it stops importing after about 250 photos. Keeps saying 1,489 remaining(something like that) photos and the picture image on your iPhoto stops or freeze there. (Normally you can see what's importing into your iPhoto)
Tried rebooting the MacPro Tower and iPhone. My computer is up to date.
I was not sure if I had corrupted photo images, so I deleted bunch of photos around where iPhoto would stall.
I have no idea what's going on. Could someone please help me?
    Thanks,

Try use Image Capture (in your Applications Folder) to move the files to the Desktop and import from there.

  • Can't import movies from photobooth into imovie

In iMovie 11 (v9.0.4), our network users are unable to import movies from the isight camera. (File, Import from Camera).  As soon as you click on "capture", then use the default event name, you get an error:
"You may not have permissions to write to /Network/Servers/rbserver.lan/SERVER_USERDATA/iMovie Events.localized."
I've tried creating this directory on the local machine, per this suggestion:  http://lists.apple.com/archives/macos-x-server/2010/Apr/msg00305.html but to no avail...
Do you know how to fix this problem?

I can't help you with your server question, but here is how I move and import video clips from Photo Booth into iMovie over my LAN:
    (1) Use the Photo Booth > File > Export menu command
to create the actual clip I will move.
    (2) Quit Photo Booth.
    (3) File transfer the exported Photo Booth clip to the Mac that will do the iMovie work.
    (4) Use the iMovie > File > Import > Movies... menu command
to import the clip into iMovie.
    (5) Clean up (throw away) unneeded clips on both Macs.

  • Iphoto would not import movies from Iphone 4 - ANYBODY ELSE HAS ISSUES?

    Hello,
Yes Iphone 4 is so sexy.
I have reception issues too unfortunatly , only where reception is weak anyway, but yes it happens...
also iphoto would not import most of the times
    the iphone 4 videos?
any suggestions why and how to fix it ?
    Many thx
    Anteros

I was encountering this on the developers' beta of iTunes 9.2 on a gigabyte-sized iPhone 4 movie. (I am in Developer Program.)
I just reinstalled with the standard iTunes download and was able to do a successful import directly from the phone.
Perhaps an iTunes reinstall can fix it for you as it did for me.

  • Importing photos from iPhone to iPhoto on my MacBook Pro very slow

It's taking the best part of thirty minutes to import the photos from my iPhone 5 (iOS 6.1.4) into iPhoto (version 9.4.3) using my MacBook Pro (10.8.2). I've tried rebuilding the iPhoto databse which didn't have any positive effect to the process. I've got 8000 photos in iPhoto and 1700 on the iPhone. I'm doing the import everyday so there's usually not more than 20-30 photos to import, any idea why it is taking so long and what I can do to speed it up?

How full is your system drive? Can it be that you are running out of disk space?
Has it always been this slow to import from your iPhone, or only recently?
If it is a recent problem, what has changed lately? Have you installed, uninstalled, or updated any software?

  • Cannot import photos from iPhone to iPhoto

For some reason I'm unable to download photos from my iPhone to IPhoto on my MacBook Pro.  iPhoto doesn't seem to recognize it as a device conected to the computer while iTunes does so it's not giving me the option to import them.  What the heck is going on and how can I import them into iPhoto?

Yes, I did solved the problem. It was not with iPhoto but with the iTunes. Once I delete my phone profile all worked. I did not write the steps down but if you do it please post it here.

  • Importing images from ipod into iPhoto

I installed the iPhoto 9.2 update as part of the OSX10.7.2 and am now when I try import my pictures that are stored on my iPod Touch only my Mac shows up. The iPod used to show so I could import the images stored on it, but now that option doesn't exist, it's just the Mac.
Am I doing something wrong here? Has the process changed? Do I have to activate Photostream just to import the pics locally?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having the same problem importing pics into iphoto 9.2 from my iphone.  Photostream isn't working in the country I'm in (China) but when I connect the phone manually, it doesn't show up in iphoto...
Also tried the image capture program (which maybe you could try molotovmouse...) but that also doesn't recognise the iphone...and yes it is unlocked...
apple can't have removed the capability to import photos manually with a cable...can they?? especially as photo stream has not worked for me at all, and it is extremely limited anyway...
