Importing Old TXT Messages Into Latest Ovi

Hi,
I'm using OVI with a new Nokia 3710 Fold mobile. Previously, I had old Siemens A55 - but saved all my old text messages in text and csv format.
Is there any way to import all these old text messages into OVI? Most mobile suites like OVI usually offfer some import structure - but I cannot find anything.
Any help welcome.

You can not "Import them"
You can depress and hold the option key and launch iPhoto and select the older library and convert it so you can use it
Once it is converted you can user iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -  to merge it with your current library
Or you can export the photos form it and import them into the newer library (switch libraries using the option launch
Or if you have the latest versions of iPhoto and Aperture you can use Aperture to merge iPhoto libraries

  • How to import old mail messages

    Hi all
I have a new iMac. I have setup all my email accounts already. However I have about 2000 old email messages saved on two external hard drives ( through backups)
How can I import and seamlessly integrate the old mail messages into the new iMac ?
    Thanks

The normal method depends upon how you backed up your old mail. If you backed up the entire Mail folder and its content then use Mail's Import Mail option under the File menu. Select the Apple Mail option then click on the OK button. Navigate in the File Open dialog to the /Mail/Mailboxes/ folder. Select and click on the Open button. Check the mailboxes you wish to import then click on the Import button. Your mailboxes will appear in Mail's sidebar under the Imported Mail heading.

I used a usb turntable to import old vinyl records into iTunes. Then with the cloud and iTunes match I put them on another Mac.  The songs come up in the music list but they are greyed out.  How do I get them recognized.  The symbol states the songs were downloaded from iCloud.  I would like to get them to play so that I can make a playlist, and burn a CD.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • I have been trying to import old family dads into iMovie. I receive the following message "None of the selected files or folders can be imported"

I have been trying to import old family dvd's into iMovie. I receive the following message "None of the selected files or folders can be imported" Is there a problem with the format not being recognized by Imovie? Same home dvd's work on internal dvd player. Any Ideas?

You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
which is free, but you must also have the  Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D2187Z/A/quicktime-mpeg-2-playback-component-f or-mac-os-x
(unless you are running Lion in which case see below))
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.
And from the TOU of these forums:
    Keep within the Law
No material may be submitted that is intended to promote or commit an illegal act.
Do not submit software or descriptions of processes that break or otherwise ‘work around’ digital rights management software or hardware. This includes conversations about ‘ripping’ DVDs or working around FairPlay software used on the iTunes Store.
If you are running Lion or later:
    From the MPEG Streamclip homepage
The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion onwards, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it. See this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3381
To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. (The same applies to Mountain Lion even though that has it preinstalled.) You don't have to install QuickTime 7.

  • Spinning circle * Thunderbird is not responding when I try to write or access emails. I had attempted to delete a bunch of old txt messages in seldom used Gmail

I saw I had almost 30,000 txt messages on a Gmail account that I had created a gmail account for on Thunderbird. I didn't realize that they were going here from Gmail. I highlighted all of them and attempted to delete them. The spinning circle finally went away and all of them were gone. But when I tried to do anything else on Thunderbird with my regular email accounts (Comcast & Hotmail), I would get a spinning circle and Thunderbird is not responding. I had to use Ctrl Alt Del and then reopen. I tried compacting but this morning when I tried to write an email from one of my Comcast emails in Thunderbird, again I got the spinning circle and Thunderbird is not responding. In order to do anything, I have to close the program by hitting Crrl Alt Del and try again.
My Trash Local folders says 8300.
This morning, when I tried accessing Thunderbird at the bottom of the taskbar it said, "downloading....of 17,000 to All Mail. Had no clue what that meant. I let it continue until all were and thought my issue would be resolved. But no. :(
Something obviously got corrupted in the program. What do I need to do to fix this?
    Thank you.

  • How to add 2007/2008 old chat messages to latest s...

There were important messages I copied and saved from my computer to a thumbdrive. Now I want to open these old messages. There were no main.db back in 2008... What must I do with all those .dbb files... Are there other software that I can use to read those messages? I really appreciate if someone can help me out this

You can try this SkypeLogView application.
    http://nirsoft.net/utils/skype_log_view.html
It should be able to read the .dbb files too.

  • Problem importing old iphoto library into new computer

SO I ORIGIONALLY WROTE THIS TOPIC:
"Ok so I just bought a new macbook pro with iphoto 08 and i want to transfer my pictures from my old Imac with im guessing iphoto 06 and all the albums to my new computer. How do i do this. I tried it once but i did it wrong because i only got the pictures over there but no albums so i deleted them on the new computer and am ready to try again"
    THEN I GOT THIS RESPONSE:
Quit iPhoto, copy the entire iPhoto library as a single entity from the old computer into the pictures folder on the new computer and launch iPhoto on the new computer - it will convert (a one way conversion) the library as needed and you will be set.
SO I DID THAT AND THE PHOTOS ARE THERE ON THE HARD DRIVE BUT WHEN I OPEN IPHOTO THERE IS NOTHING THERE
    PLEASE HELP

    Nick:
Have you checked the size of the copied library to make sure it's a valid one. To be sure you're opening the correct library launch iPhoto with the Option key depressed and, when asked, select the option to choose a library. Navigate to your pictures folder and select the library to copied over from your old iMac.
If your sure that's the library from the old iMac and it doesn't indicate any photos try the following in order as needed:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select all options.
2 - rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: It may take some time to create the new library if you have a lot of photos.
3 - start over with a new library and import the Originals folder from your original library as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
Open the library package like this.
Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open Photo window
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library if you have the Finder checkbox unchecked in the Events preference pane.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Device for importing old VHS tapes into Mac to edit and make DVDs

Having tried one device unsuccessfully, we're looking for a device that we can use to convert old VHS tapes so we can edit in iPhoto/ Movie and store on DVDs. The one we tried came from the Apple retail store, but the Genius Bar was not able to get it to work. Thanks.

Here is how I do that (this only works with non-copy protected videos):
Connect the VHS tape player via RCA cables to an analogue-to-digital converter like, for example, the Canopus ADVC110.
Connect the converter via firewire to your Mac.
Import into iMovie as DV stream (I use iMovie 6). Edit out irritating commercials (from TV programs) and other glitches.
Convert to standard DVD format of mpeg2 in iDVD and burn to reliable media like Verbatim DVD-R.
    Job done!

  • Can you import old text messages from a backup?

Prior to updating to iOS 8, I did a full backup to iCloud and iTunes.  I decided to start from scratch though.  I think the only thing I'm a little upset to lose is all my text messages.  Is there any way to import them from an old backup?
    iPhone 5
    MacBook Pro

Restoring from a backup is an all or nothing thing. There isn't a way to restore just text messages that I'm aware of.

  • Can I import old MacProject files into something more modern?

I have some MacProject files which were created on an older Mac under OS7. Under older OSX I could still open those files in the Classic environment. That option has obviously now gone having upgraded Mac and OS to 10.4.8
I have copies of the older Mac's hard drives safely stored and now want to import or open the MacProject files and save them in an upto date format for my MacBook Pro.
Any suggestions how I might do this?

    ps_pause,
    Welcome to the discussions.
It will all depend on the 'save as' options available in the older software. The data will be stored similar to a relational database. Just saving a file as text will not include all the linked information. Take a look at the save and export options.

  • Importing Outlook express folders into mail on intel imac ?

I was running outlook express on os 9.1 G3 and need to import the folders into mail on my fab new mac intel...
Any advice/help much appreciated as always
    Many thanks
    Steve

    Steve,
Your OE messages are in a folder called Identities within one called Microsoft User Data. A first step might be to copy the MUD folder or the Identities folder to a disk and transfer it to you new Mac's desktop.
A few years ago, I transferred my mail from OE on a G3 running OS 9 to my flat panel iMac running OS X. At the time I made use of running OE in Classic on my new iMac. Your Intel Mac will not run Classic so the approach will be a little different.
I've read of people being able to import the OE messages into Entourage on their new Mac and then getting them into Apple's Mail. If you have Office for Mac you can try this, or you can try it using the 30 day free trial of Office.
Until you complete the transfer, keep everything intact on your old Mac. Do not delete OE. And whatever you do, do not delete the MUD folder or the Identities folder!
    Post back,
    Steve M.

  • Imported old Outlook emails in mbox format look like HTML script?

I needed to import old Outlook messages but they were in saved as .pst files. I transposed them to .mbox using Entourage, then imported this Mailbox into Mail. 90% of these converted email messages look like HTML script while 10% look normal. I need suggestions as to how to reload them so they show up as readable. Apple could not find a fix for this. I'm a Mac rookie, and not too savvy about software at all, so please be gentle with help suggestions. I took a screen shot of one messed up message, but can't seem to copy it to attach it here?

If you still have access to the original Outlook message structure, I'd recommend Outlook2Mac from Little Machines. Works a treat moving Outlook files into .mbox format and is very reasonably priced.

  • Restoring old text messages vanished from BB protect

    Hi
I need to restore some important old text messages that I had automatically backed up to BB Protect (set to back up weekly). I did not dleete the text messages and have been using BB Protect over the time that I want to use the messages from. Previously I could enter a date that I wanted to restore my messsages to when using BB protect. Now it no longer offers me that choice, just 3 recent dates in a list, the first about a month ago. I understand the backup should have been stored with RIM as well so can anyone advise how I can access them please? Incidently I have already tried accessing BB protect via my playbook but this does not allow me any further. The messages I want to access go from end July 2012 to end October 2012. Do I need to contact RIM directly?
    Many thanks!

Thanks for your reply. What would have happened to the previous saved dates then? I understand the downlooads are stored at RIM. Surely I should be informed when the old backups are going to be deleted? Yes I can underrstand about making manual backups now, but there was no warning my backups on Blackberry protect would be deleted. That is what I understood blackberry protect was there for - to be able to restore from. The dates available now are only over the past few weeks yet I have been using blackberry protect for many months already. Hw could all my other backups just disappear? Thanks in advance
