Importing protected .xls files

How can I import protected (protected with a pw I mean) .xls files in numbers? Tx

None of the iWork apps can open password-protected Office files. You have to have the sender remove the password & send it again or you can use Office or one of the free clones such as LibreOffice.

I just installed IWork with the hope of not needing to buy office for my new Mac. I have a number of password protected xls files that i need to open, and I am not given the option to put in the password?
Any way around this, or am I stuck buying office?

You cannot open them with iWork but you do not need to buy office. Download free Neooffice and open them up and get rid of the password. Then save them as xls files. And then you can open them up by numbers. Neoofice is free at neooffice.org

  • Password protected xls

Hi. Exist some plug-in to numbers to open password protected xls files?
    Thanks.

Good idea. As they did reverse engineering for the full package, maybe they did the same for the protection scheme .
After all, I was able to find the way AppleWorks calculate its files's checksums

  • Import/Export xls Error

    Hi,
I'm facing a problem with import/export xls files.
Once I selected the file the system doesn't return any response even if the file has very small size (about 70 KB).
It happens both from workbench and web.
Furthermore I can't to export something to Excel (I.e. the categories)
    Any suggestion about it?
    Thank you

    Import XLS:
Make sure the ups* range in your XLS workbook is defined to include all rows you want to import, including the two header rows.
Please also be aware that XLS Import only adds records and does not update/overwrite what's already in there. If you want to change mappings/periods etc., you need to delete these records first and then add them again.
    Export to XLS:
Your settings for export sound ok. Maybe there's an issue with the MIME Types on the web server - but I'm not too familiar with that, maybe someone else has an idea on this.
If you export to XLS a file should be created in Outbox\Excel (not during import, just want to make sure I'm clear on this).

    Matt

step1:save the xls file as .csv format to your oracle dir path.
step2:create external table using below command
    CREATE TABLE EXT_TABLE(+col1 datatype,col2 datatype.....+)
    ORGANIZATION EXTERNAL
    (TYPE ORACLE_LOADER DEFAULT DIRECTORY directoryname
    ACCESS PARAMETERS (
    RECORDS DELIMITED BY NEWLINE
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY ','
    OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
    MISSING FIELD VALUES ARE NULL
    LOCATION('+filename.CSV+')

  • Not able to import protected AAC audio files

Can i do this? In the past I was able to import these purchased files, and then with an update, I no longer could. When I updated my system to 10.3.9, I was again able to use the music I purchased thru itunes. Now, again I cannot. What happen? Is this something Apple does on purpose, not letting us use music we purchased from them in their programs?

I am not sure what you mean by putting the G4 to sleep. I put it to sleep and had to wake it up, copied songs to cd, deleted songs from itunes and reimported them. Again, they came back as protected AAC audio files even though I selected AIFF files.
Reading a tourtorial on imovie it mentions you can get songs from the istore and import them to your movie. So, it is suppose to work.

  • Import CSV data to an existing populated XLS file

    Hi Guys,
Looking for some assistance, with some powershell I have never done before..  and don't know where to start..
I have a CSV file that contains some data - Several items exported from a standard powershell command.
I also have an XLS file that has been manually populated for the last 6 months with data.
What I want to get to (and have started with exporting the data to csv) is for the script to run, and add the data from the CSV to the XLS in the already exisiting colum heading.
SO in the first row - we need to add the date, followed by adding data under each subsequent column that already has a heading..
Anyone got any suggestions on where to start with this? Any advice greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Allan Harding

I think your question is a bit too broad and vague.
If you are not a scripter then I recommend asking in the Exxcel forum.  THey will help you learn how to use Excel tomerge data tables.
If you want to scrpt this then youneed to start by learning how to write a script.  YOu will want to use Import-Csv and the Excel object model.
If this is critical then I recommend contacting a consultant.

  • .xls file import error (P6 v7.0)

    Hello,
There is a problem to import .xls file.
Usually, when I click Finish Button, there is a message that informing the result whether it is succesful or not.
But, when I click Finish Button, there is no message and P6 stopped.
    Please help me.
I use Win 7, and DB is oracle 10g.
    Thank you.

Without some more information and troubleshooting it's hard to determine exactly what is wrong.
If I had to take a guess I would suggest you look at your local Oracle installation. You mentioned already having oracle sql plus10g installed but do you have a full fledged database server installation or just the 10g client installed?
P6v7 Standalone by default installs Oracle XE. As it sounds like you already had at the very least a 10g client installation look at the TNSNAMES.ORA file and confirm there is an entry for your P6 database instance. You may also find that if the client is installed multiple times that there is more than one TNSNAMES.ORA. In that case I believe what happens is whichever one is first in the PATH statement will be utilized (unless you explicitly set it up differently).

  • Import xls file using SSIS

    Hello All,
I am using Visual studio 2008 R2 and i have file which is in xls format.I tried to import the file but i am getting error like "external table is not in the expected format".I tried in different ways like use IMEX = 1 and debug property set 64bit
    = false.
while importing i used 97-2003 in excel source .
    My altered connection string is " Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:\Computer\Mathew\MYFile.xls;Extended Properties="EXCEL 8.0;HDR=YES;IMEX = 1 ;MAXSCANROWS = 15;READONLY = FALSE";"
If i manually open the file and save as the same extension (97-2003) no issues for importing. But my file is dynamic and it picks everyday and use the data flow task to import xls from source ,getting the error which i mentioned above.
But still i am facing the same issue. Do anyone face this kind of issue before and please help me or suggest me to overcome this issue.
    Thanks,
    Mathew George

    Hi Mathew,
The error "External table is not in the expected format" usually occurs because the format of the Excel file is not supported by the Excel driver, for example, it will occur if we try to connect to a .xlsx file using the Microsoft JET 4.0 OLE DB Provider.
Given the situation that the issue appears after you resave the Excel file as .xls, it seems the source .xls file is not the exact Excel 97-2003 format.
One possible solution is to use the Microsoft ACE 12.0 OLE DB Provider other than the Microsoft JET 4.0 OLE DB Provider. Besides, I saw that you encounterred the error "Could not find installed ISAM" when using the Microsoft ACE 12.0 OLE DB Provider.
This error may occur because of the extra space between Excel 12.0 and the following semi-colon in the Extended Properties. For example, "Excel 12.0 ;HDR=YES;" will cause this error, and we should use "Excel 12.0;HDR=YES;". Be sure to use the Excel 12.0 other
than Excel 8.0 extended property because the Excel 12.0 works with both .xls format file and .xlsx format file. Here is a screenshot for your reference:

  • Can iTunes Import Nokia DRM Protected Music Files

I have 10000s of downloads from Nokia's Comes With Music / Ovi Music Unlimited.  Ignoring the issues over the 25k limit, these are DRM protected downloads runnable from Nokia phones and any computer I nominate with a 90 day period before allowing a reswitch.  Will iTunes Match recognise the Nokia DRM protected music files and give me a DRM free product at a higher bitrate?

You won't be able to match non-Apple DRM downloads - you'd have to find a way to strip the DRM off first.  For example, Rhapsody had recommended ripping their protected DRM files by burning to CD (as well as Yahoo! Music and Walmart) so that way the DRM layer would be removed at the expense of sound quality.    I'm not sure how this service works but iTunes probably won't be able to import them as-is.
You probably don't even need to subscribe to iTM to test this - just install iTunes and try to import the files - if you can't import them into iTunes, then iTM definitely won't work.

  • Adobe Livecycle Designer 8 to import XLS file data

    Hi,
I have several pdf forms using excel files with data. These excel files work as a data repository, send periodically to us by another department. We then use the pdf forms to generate the final documentation.
I had them working with Designer 7, using ADBC. I know now that i have to use another approach because Designer 8 does not let me work with ADBC anymore.
There are some articles showing how to modify some registry values in order to enable ADBC, but adobe does not recommend that. According to what i've read it could be referred as a security issue. So it doesn´t seem to be the right approach.
Does anyone has some idea how to make this work in designer 8 ?
What i want to do is a data connection to an xls file, and let the pdf show the data.
    TIA,

Did you ever figure out a way to do this? I have a similar problem that I have been working on for quite a while. Any help that you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Gabe

  • Import xls file

Hi everyone.<BR><BR>I’m trying to load an xls or txt file with an esscmd script without a data-load-rule. The problem is that some cells are empty on the sheet of the xls file and in the text file there are some side-by-side tab (separator). When essbase load files, 2 or more spaces are detect as one and all datas are shifted. Can you tell me how can i do to load correctly this type of files?<BR><BR>Thanks in advance.<BR>Fabrice.<BR>

Yes, that's true. In that case I can only see two options:<BR><BR>1. Pre-retrieve the current database values into the sheet and have the users overwrite those that are changed. This preserves both the tab-spacing and non-missing values in the database.<BR><BR>2. Build a load rule.<BR><BR>Steve
