Importing sca into local development

Hi,
I need to create a web dynpro DC in my local development workspace. It is not connected to any track.
I also want to use a DC from the LM-TOOLS.sca. How do I import this in my local develpoment file system. The only sca's that are present are th SAP-JEE, SAP_BUILDT, and SAP_JTECHS.
On a track I know I can import it in the transport studio.
But how do I import it on a local develpoment tree.
thanks
Padmaja

  • NWDI SCA to local development SC

    Hi,
I try to import a SCA, that I exported from the assembly state in NWDI, in my local development in the NWDS to test some things.
When I go to the component browser in the NWDS and import the SC, the SC is not modifiable, it appears as an archive SC and not source SC. Can someone tell me why it's not modifiable and what can I do to make it modifiable. In the track where I exported it, it's modifiable.
    kind regards,
    Pieter

    Hi Pieter,
is it possible that you have assembled with the option "include only source-pointers" ?

  • No option to import configuration in local development (DC perspective)

    Hi All,
I had deleted the local development folder and also deleted the.metadata folder  from my workspace to start configuring NWDS again to import new configurations .But now when i open my NWDS ,in Development Configurations perspective >>Local DCS  is coming empty .There is no option to import the configuration now.
I am not authorize to uninstall NWDS and reinstall again .But can access the NWDS folders specific to me like workspace etc .
i teied creating local development folder manually with default files but no success.
Kindly guide me in solving this problem.
    Regards,
    Madhvika

    Hi Madhvika,
You might not have deleted configurations in that way. There is an option in NWDS to delete the configurations. Let it be.   Now at least try to restore the files from Recycle Bin if possible.  If not possible, don't be panic. There are some ways.
.metadata   you can get back if you can create new workspace.
    Open NWDS -> Preferences->Workbench -> Workspace
Click on "Browse" button and  create  new folder e.g workspace1.
Close the NWDS and open it.  You will  get the .metadata
If you want to get the .dtc folder you can reinstall NWDS or you can log in as different user into the system and open the NWDS. Then you can get  .dtc folder and  .metadata    as well. If you have administrative privileges on your system, create a new user as administrator and log in with that user Id. Try as I said. Later copy and paste those folders into your user folder.

I have found a lot of threads here, but no one help me.
The parameter idleStart is configured to false.
I try to keep BUILD_TOOL_JDK_HOME and JDK_HOME_PATHS as default, and try to set to java 6.
The build variant in CMS was configured too.
After the changes i restated the CBS service and try to import again in DEV system. But nothing happens.
If i import just one or all the components, it get a long time and catch the error showed above.
I have restarted the server a lot of time too.
Can someone have any idea how to fiz it?
    Best Regards
    Marcos Brandão

    Hi Marcos,
changing the domain user might have consequences, please take a look at the note:
    #896427 - NWDI Admin User/Password update
What I suggest in short is this:
    1. restart the server
    2. once the server is up and running, re-save the track in question in cms webui
    3. restore system state on dev and cons tabs of cms webui
    4. trigger first re-import of SCs on dev tab (import SCs one by one, and do not care of broken DCs until everything is imported).
When I mean one by one I mean that you select an SC on developent tab of the cms webui, press Import, wait what happens to it, and if it failed, let me know. If not, then select the next SC for import.
    5. wait until it finishes (depending on the size of your development it can be hours, even up to 4 hours).
If you still got long import and broken DCs, then let me know, this case also take a look at the
    1. Import logs which is usually at /usr/sap/JTrans/CMS/log/*
Notice, this can be different in your case, check the location of the transport folder under the CMS WebUI (/devinf – Landscape Configurator – Domain Data Tab)
    2. the latest defaultTrace you find at
    -...\j2ee\cluster\server<n>\log\defaultTrace.<n>.trc
I also send you another guide for Broken DCs, here you go:
(NWDI)(CBS) the CBS-make log and-or CBS Web UI report broken DCs - Technology Troubleshooting Guide - SCN Wiki

  • Error importing *.SCA file into NWDS:  Import (into source SC) not possible

    All,
When attempting to import an SCA into a new project in NWDS, an "Import (into source SC) not possible: SCA doesn't contain DC sources" occurs.  Any assistance to fix this issue appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Lee

You can indeed import SCAs into local development configurations in NWDS (Eclipse). You have to have a pre-existing software component of the same name and vendor which may or may not be empty.
In the Development Infrastructure perspective in NWDS 7.1, just right-click on the software component you want to overwrite with the import and choose "Import".
To import SCAs into a CMS track in the NWDI, you have to go to http://<NWDI server>:5<nn instance no>00/devinf/ and import the SCAs from the transport inbox directory of the NWDI server. Don't forget to maintain the SLD if necessary.
    Cheers,
    Thorsten

  • Importing from Local development.

    Hi Friends,
I have a WebDynPro Application developed on my Local System.I need to IMPORT this application into my Development Component(DC).
Can i know the procedure if atall it is possible to do the same.
    Thanks and regards,
    Chandrashekar.

    Hi,
If you have created your project as a plain web dynpro project, then follow the steps given in "Migrating Local Web Dynpro Projects",
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/9e/1c200ac164cf4a942f2dacdf3359e9/content.htm
If you have created your project as a "Local Development Component", the conversion to DC in JDI is still going to be difficult as it will involve the same manual task.

  • Import/Export Local Development Component

    Hello,
we developed a Portal service that we want to expose as Webservice.
    According to
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/43/cb213e578c0262e10000000a11466f/frameset.htm we created a local DC in our NWDS containing our
Portal Service. We also generated the Webservice.
We have have SAP NETWEAVER 7.0 (SP10) and no NWDI.
Now we want to export the whole local DC project from our NWDS to the
    NWDS of a colleague.
How can we do this? There is no "Local Development Component Export
option" in our NWDS neither any "Import" possibility.
Does anyone know something about that?
    Kind regards,
    Torsten Hoffmann

    Hi Torsten,
    1) Close NWDs.
    2) Take project of your colleague, delete .project & . classpath files, copy it in your ../Local Development/ ... folder (you should have the same folder structure as your colleague).
    3) Then edit your .syncdb file and add entry for this project (copy it from the file of your colleague).
    4) Launch NWDS.
I've made such thing a lots of time and it works for sure.
    Regards,
    Andrei

    Hello everyone!
I have an Excel file I want to Import into SQL Developer. Do I need to Create a table first than import the file into the table?
Or is there a way to import an Excel file and it automatically generate or turn into a table?
I would really appreciate any directions or explanations.

SQLDeveloper TeamThanks for the reply but the problem was I needed to convert the file to a csv format. To do this open the file in Excel and re-save as CSV Comma Delimiter. Don't worry about data-types because when the file is uploaded to SQL Developer, you will have the chance to set all the parameters, data-types and so on.
Once I did this and try opening the file, the setup window opened and I was able to do all the additional tweaking and convert the data to a table.
Because of this I am speculating that SQL Developer does not work with Excel XLSX extension.
    Thanks again!

  • Importing data into tables with grant access (sql developer 3.2)

    Hello,
I want to import data into a table PAY_BALANCE_BATCH_LINES which is an interface table. I'm logged in to a schema (APPS) and this table belongs to the HR schema. However, if you look at the grants, the APPS schema has all access to this particular table. In TOAD, this used to work great.
But in sqldeveloper, when I filter the tables dropdown, I am not able to find this table. Since this is my primary way of uploading data I'm not sure how else I can get access to upload data into this table. I don't know the password for the HR schema by the way.
    Is there a way out?
    Many Thanks

Scroll down the tree to the 'Other Users' node, expand it, and then drill down into HR > Tables. Then do your import.
For an alternative browser, right-click on your connection in the tree and open a Schema Browser.

2)copy the contents of the local DC into the new one except the .dcdef and .project files
3)reopen the project, build and deploy.
    4)then goto navigator

  • Importing SCA Via CMS

    Hi,
Quick question regarding importing SCA's into a runtime enviornment via CMS.
Lets assume that ACTIVITY-A was checked in, activited, deployed into development, QA, assebled and now waiting for import into production.
Before i import ACTIVITY-A into production, i checked in and activated ACTIVITY-B. ACTIVITY-B has also been deployed into development, QA, been assembled and now waiting for import in production.
So now i have two changes waiting for import into production i.e. ACTIVITY-A and ACTIVTY-B.
Will importing just ACTIVITY-B be sufficient? I.e. does ACTIVITY-B also contain the changes made for ACTIVITY-A? in that case instead of deploying both into production, i can just deploy ACTIVITY-B, is that correct?

I have another question regarding this.
    1. Let say that i push acitivity-1 through CMS all the way into production (dev -> consolidation -> assembly -> test -> approval -> production)
    2. i push activity-2 all the way into test and reject from the approval queue
    3. i push activity-3 all the way into production
The problem is that acitivity-3 will also contain that changes for activity-2 even though activity-2 was rejected.
Is this a bug in CMS or by design?  you are forced to import even the changes you dont want imported.
Im thinking the only resolution to this will be once you reject activity-2 from approval, you push an acitivity which undo's the changes for activity-2 and then you can push acitivity-3. Is the the correct approach or is their any simpler way to handle this?

    Thanks a lot!!!
Indeed the solution was in the follwoing thread:

Parsing the query result fixed the problem.
For others who might have the same problem:
Here's a working web service (C# code, for vb code follow the link to the thread above):
