Imprecise, Jumpy, Erratic Bluetooth Mouse with Video

I have been suffering with an erratic Bluetooth mouse problem for almost a year now on my 3.06ghz Imac. Recently, I have noticed others mentioning the same issue with the new Magic Mouse. (See Imac Forum). Therefore, in an attempt to raise the status of this issue I am posting a video in order that Apple Care and other Mac users can see the issue in action.
The jumpiness gets worse when downloading a large file or when copying or moving a large file. I have posted more details in Upper right corner of Youtube page.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBzisliiVpg

A quick update to the jumpy mouse saga:
After a year of problems with a jumpy mouse (see videos below) *I purchased a Magic Mouse to see if the Magic Mouse would solve the jumpiness issue. It did but the tracking speed was very slow. Therefore, I installed MouseZoom to increase the tracking speed. After installing MouseZoom I started noticing the jumpy mouse problems again.*
_*This finding is very interesting!*_
_*It implies that the faster the mouse movement the more likely one is to see an erratic mouse with the pointer making unrequested jumps around the screen.*_
My hypothesis is that the operating system or processor is not allocating enough resources to the mouse if the tracking speed is set to a high level.
_*The "jumpy mouse" problem seems to be far worse when the hard disk is running - either copying or downloading a large file*_. Some users are reporting that watching a high resolution flash video will also cause the mouse to skip and jump.
I am certain the problem is software related because the same exact mouse works perfectly in Bootcamp 2.1 and Bootcamp 3.0 in Windows XP SP3.
_*Youtube now has two videos showing the problem*._ You can view the videos here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxLY3-pH-rs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBzisliiVpg
If you are suffering from similar problems may I suggest three actions:
* Use the Quicktime X screen recording function to record a video of the problem.
* Post the video to YouTube.
* Contact Apple Care and share your video problem description with them.
* Send a note referencing the video and description to www.apple.com/feedback
Category: Mac OSX Feedback
Feedback Type: Bug Report
Feedback Area: Peripheral/Device Support
I will update this video to let you know if the problem has been solved. I am hopeful that Apple will be able to find the source of the problem and solve it quickly. I really like my Mac and I can hardly wait for the problem to be resolved.
Here is hoping that 10.63 will resolve this issue once and for all!

  • Slow / jumpy / erratic Bluetooth mouse

    Hi,
I recently bought a apple wireless keyboard and a logitech v470 bluetooth mouse, They are paired to my 2006 macbook pro fine with no connection drops etc. I'm running my mac through my 37" LCD tv using DVI to HDMI.
The Keyboard is working fine, however when using the mouse it is really erratic making it near impossible to use accurately. It responds very slowly, and has a tendency to lag and jump from one position to another. Its also worth mentioning that when i drag windows, files etc they also move erratically.
Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution? Any help would be great!
    Cheers

I'm not so sure its a software problem. I had a Logitech MX5000 BT mouse and keyboard attached to a Windows system for 2 years. Some days the mouse would stutter to where it was unusable, followed by days of perfect behavior. Yesterday I transferred the keyboard and mouse to my MiniMac. It only took 30 seconds to set up and it worked just fine..... for about an hour. Then it started stuttering. This morning it was OK again.
I have spent an hour researching this through every blog I can find. The bad news is that I haven't found anyone who has an explanation. The good news is that everyone appears to be looking in the wrong place, because those masses of irate BT mouse users have all been looking in the same place.
Everyone has blamed either the hardware or the software. It is clearly neither since both are largely static for the purposes of this issue. Computers are not erratic by nature. Therefore if they appear to be erratic then there must be something going on that isn't self-evident.
I would encourage everyone who reads this thread to post their findings on concurrent usage of system resources. Whenever your BT mouse starts lagging, look at what else is going on in your environment. Keep your system monitor up and running so you're ready. I'll post my findings later this week. Good luck.

  • Bluetooth Mouse with Windows Vista

I have a 5 month old iMac and installed Vista on it and I was able to connect my bluetooth mouse and keyboard to it just fine.. But my brother-in-law just got a new iMac and I installed Vista on it for him and when I try to connect his bluetooth mouse with it it wont work it works in Mac OS X but wont let me connect it to Vista. It gives me some error about unable to pass passcode onto it or some junk..
Anyone have this problem and/or how to fix it?

It is probably unlikely to be the mouse but it could be. Otherwise my vista install took a good half hour to do the pairing for no real reason, I just kept trying. So from me just persist with it and try reinstalling the bluetooth driver, it seems to be a problem most people have a problem with the wireless mighty mouse at first I don't know why. Sorry I'm not helpful but as for as I now there isn't a solution because it will work.

  • Using an Apple Bluetooth mouse with a pc

Is it possible to use the Apple Bluetooth mouse with a pc and windows XP using WIDCOMM. I've tried to connect mine and although the pc sees the mouse, it tries to pair using a security code. This is despite the fact that it later says a security code is not required! Anyone got any experience of this?

Problem solved. Security code 0000 entered, mouse paired with pc and everything worked beautifully.

  • Bluetooth mouse with iPad Air2?

I just purchased and iPad Air 2 and I bought a bluetooth Keyboard from amazon that works perfectly. However, I was wondering what is the best bluetooth mouse to use with the iPad Air 2.

You can not use a mouse with an iPad.

  • Connect to bluetooth mouse with no passkey

My bluetooth mouse (Microsoft Notebook Presenter 8000) needs no passkey when pairing yet there doesn't seem to be any way within the Playbook interface to indicate this so I'm unable to pair it.
Has anyone found a way around this sort of a problem or will it have to wait for a RIM fix?

Have a Dell Bluetooth mouse... Playbook asks for pass key, opens a box to enter it...   it connects with 0000 pass key entered into the Playbook. In adding a Dell Bluetooth keyboard, a pass key appears on the Playbook screen... enter it into the keyboard, and it connects.

  • I want to use a bluetooth mouse with my ipad 2 any suggestions?

I have seen similar discussions, but since there didn't seem to be an answer, I thought I would try again.
I use PocketCloud Pro to access my virtual PC.  It has a nifty mouselike display, but I would like to use an actual mouse.  With my bluetooth keyboard and a mouse, I could abandon my laptop altogether and work exclusively from my ipad.
I have read about jailbreaking, but don't really want to go this route.  Is there any app or mouse that will allow me to do this?  If you can use a mouse after jailbreaking, why is this not a possibility?

  • Reconnecting bluetooth mouse with only keyboard

I have an iMac with Lion 10.7.2 and a mightymouse, and bluetooth keyboard.
I am using rechargeable batteries on the mightymouse and on occasion when switching batteries in the mouse the bluetooth does not reconnect.
Is there a keyboard only method of resetting and pairing the mightymouse to the imac?
(it works fine if I go find another usb mouse and do it using that but I would rather do it directly from the keyboard)

Turn on Mouse keys by pressing Option key 5 times (fairly rapidly).  This will allow you to use the following keys to move the cursor and click.  Hold the keys down for more rapid movement.
    8  up
    k  down
    u  left
    o  right
    i   click (left click)
This will allow you to select bluetooth on the menubar or open System Preferences.
Press the Option key 5 times again to exit mouse key mode.

  • Replacing bluetooth mouse with USB mouse

I have no need for a wireless mouse, and so just plugged in an old usb mouse, which works OK, except that when I reboot the computer, the USB mouse is not recognized at the login screen. Also, after I log in using the keyboard, the USB mouse is still not recognized until I unplug it and plug it back in. Anyone know how to tell the iMac to recognize it on startup?
    thanks

    Hi T-Bob
People seem to have had variable experiences with at least some versions of the Kensington drivers - see http://www.macupdate.com/reviews.php?id=5805
I see that their "Mouseworks" driver package is now up to version 2.9 - http://us.kensington.com/html/1385.html#mac28 Is this the version you installed? Have you checked the configuration options in the System Preferences?
I notice elswhere on their site that you should uninstall any earlier versions first (using the "uninstall option in the installer) before putting on a new one. Not sure if you had an earlier one installed though.
It is just possible that any OTHER mouse or graphic tablet / game controller software could also be causing conflicts with the Kensington drivers. This could include either the bluetooth or mighty mouse software I guess. I'm reluctant to suggest removing them though, as they are part of the general system software and we don't want to risk leaving you completely rodent free!
Sounds like you did the PRAM reset properly.
Another option for you might be the famous "USB Overdrive" - http://www.usboverdrive.com/USBOverdrive/Information.html THis is third party software that has been used to tame many an unruly input device over the years. I haven't used recent versions but it was certainly a worthy product in days gone by. You can download a fully operational trial version.

  • Macbook Pro won't pair with my existing Bluetooth Mouse.

I used a bluetooth mouse with my macbook pro and had no problems. Since the lastest Mountain Lion Updapte (10.8.2), the laptop finds the mouse but the pairing with the device doesn't work. I've changed the batteries and restarted the laptop several times. Any suggestions other than buying a new bluetooth mouse?

  • AT200 pairing with Bluetooth Mouse

I've just bought an AT200 tablet, my first Android device which i've upgraded to ICS (Android v4.02)
I'm trying to pair a bluetooth mouse with the tablet. Like many bluetooth devices, the mouse requires no passcode, but when I try to pair with it Android insists that I enter a passcode, until i do the "OK" is greyed out.
Ive tried 0000 , 1234, and lots of others but nothing works, since the mouse insists on No Passcode.
In Windows its easy because the windows bluetooth interface has a "No Passcode" option, but this isn't present in Android
Anyone have any ideas of a work round?

    Hello AT200owner
sorry I can't help you with your BT mouse but what I find most interesting about your post is that you have been lucky to upgrade to Android 4.02.
It would be very kind of you if you could shortly answer my questions which I guess are very important for European owners of the AT200, too
Am I right in assuming that you have simply upgraded through Toshiba's Service Station app?
Does your AT200 support any other languages (e.g. German ,French, Spanish) besides English?
Do you think everything is running smooth with Android 4?
Thank you very much in advance!

  • Bluetooth Mouse movement on Mac Mini Core Duo

Bluetooth mouse movement and tracking is a bit strange. The pointer overshoots the target and 'hugs' the edge of the screen. It's not a problem with one particular mouse - two different manufacturers behave in exactly the same way. Both mice work fine on my PPC machines. Any ideas or solutions?

I use a Logitech MX900 Bluetooth mouse with my PowerBook and for the most part it works fine. There are times when it just loses the plot and behaves like yours. I don't think it is a case of insufficient bandwith as Michael suspects but more a problem with intereference. I do notice that when there is a high use of my Airport connection the erratic behaviour is more prevalent.
If you use both Airprt ans Bluetooth concurrently you might want to switch off Airport off to see if your mouse goes any better.
Either way though you will find that a wireless USB mouse to perform better under most, if not all, situations.

  • Bluetooth Mouse X7500 on MAC OSX

I bought an X7500 bluetooth mouse for my Mac. There is a MAC logo on the box, but I am not able to find the driver for MAC anywhere. (OSX 10.9.4).
The mouse has been paired to the lap-top, and functions very well, as it is decently sized. The left and right buttons are good, and the scroll-wheel scrolls with two speeds. I may also push the wheel to move the page around.
The scroll-wheel may be tilted left and right, and I assume that this is supposed to cause the current object moving left/right but nothing happens. I also assume that the two buttons on the top left-hand side are for back and forward. When I push one of them, it has the same action as pushing the scroll-wheel.
Is there a driver for this mouse somewhere?

  • Bluetooth mouse

Hi I'm looking for a bluetooth mouse with a scroll wheel and a button to navigate backwards in browsers. I'm thinking about the microsoft one but I heard it requires the dongle in order to work and I'd prefer to use the built in mac bluetooth.
    Thanks.

How strange - I just posted a comment on the BT Mighty Mouse in the Tiger Discussions -
