  • Error message: cannot remove older versions of apple software update

I recently got a 30 gb ipod, and i cant install itunes 7. I originally tried installing it at first, and it said cannot remove older applications of Apple Software Update. So i installed itunes 4 to put music on my ipod. Then i tried again to install itunes 7 and i keep getting the same error message. Anyone else having this problem? Can anyone give me some suggestions please?

I would first try and remove both iTunes and Quicktime prior to doing the install of iTunes. The following link will show you how to remove both programs. Make sure you do Step 16 as it is usually Quicktime that causes problems with the upgrade.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698
If it will not let you remove the programs, you can try using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. The download is about 1/4 of the way down the page. Good luck.

    The solution is easy.
Install "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware" free edition and use it. This program found malware in your pc. After that clean this malware. Finally instal Firefox again and enyoy it because this installation is correct and clean. Regards.

  • The file 'C:\Users\netrgm\AppData\Local\Apple\Apple Software Update\iTunes64.msi' is not a valid installation package

I am currently at iTunes version 10.5.1.42. It is telling me there is an update. It downloads and trys to install version 10.5.2 but i keep getting this error message:
The file 'C:\Users\netrgm\AppData\Local\Apple\Apple Software Update\iTunes64.msi' is not a valid installation package for the product iTunes.
Try to find the installation package 'iTunes64.msi' in a folder from which you can install iTunes.
The file is in the directory that is looking in, but it doesnt seem to think it is valid. I have tried several times over the last week or 2.

    Try the following steps:
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
    3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

  • I get a start-up error on one of my user IDs that says it can't find the driver file:  c:\users\ user_name \AppData\Local\Apple Computer\mybxnxhfc.dll  What do I do to delete this message?

I have Windows 7.  I get this error message each time I log-on to her unser name.  I have no issue with the other 3 users.
It looks like this is iTunes related.  I only use iTunes on the master user name, NOT on this one, however, it looks like she may have started using iTunes.
When I open iTunes on her account, it doesn't have all of my songs...only 3.
The start folder on her user name is "empty".
What can I do to get rid of this error message each time I log-on?

You've been deleting your actual Photos.
Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things, deleting them or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
Best way forward now is to recover the surviving Originals from this library and start over from scratch.
    Regards

  • Local Apple Software Update Server for Windows

Has anyone figured out, how to use Leopard's Software Update Server, as a local Apple Software Update Server for Windows?
As you may know, 10.5 Software Update Server downloads, not only mac updates, but the windows' version of them as well (e.g. Safari, iTunes for windows).
There has to be a way to use that new feature.

    {quote:title=Apple wrote:}
Software Update Server is capable of automatically mirroring updates between
Apple’s software update server and your local server to guarantee that the most
current updates are immediately available. Mac OS X Server also supports hosting
Apple updates for software running in Boot Camp, such as iTunes and QuickTime for
Windows. To ensure security, all updates are digitally signed by Apple.
    {quote}
    Comes from http://images.apple.com/server/macosx/docs/L355781BSoftwrUdtTB.pdf
No idea, how to get it running smoothly yet, however.

  • C:\users\owwner\AppData\local\apple\applesoftwareupdate\itunes64.msi can not be found

itunes on my boys computer got corrupt.  I believe it was when I tried updating.  Anyhow, I have downloaded teh current itunes file from apple and when I install it a window comes up that says it can not find C;\users\owner\appdata\local\apple\applesoftwareupdate\itunes64.msi
I have done a search all over the computer and that file does not exist.  I tried repairing itunes in control panel and it comes up with the same message.  I tried deleting itunes in control panel and the same thing.
I tried deleting all files that contained itunes or apple in my compter because I thought there might be some hidden file that was saying there was an older version still installed and keeping if from installing right.
Any ideas how to get itunes back on this computer?  It will not load.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get aCode 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • When updating to  itune 10.5 I get this error message ,older version of bonjour can not be removed, and older version of apple mobile support cannot be removed, any one know how to fix this.

When updating to  itune 10.5 I get this error message ,older version of bonjour can not be removed, and older version of apple mobile support cannot be removed, any one know how to fix this.

    1) The older version of Bonjour can not be removed. Contact your technical support group.
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

i get a message saying some of the itunes files cannot be copied to my ipod b/c i can only have content from 5 itune accounts. what can i do to put the content i bought?

Obviously that's your problem.  As the message states, five is the maximum supported.

  • I keep getting this error message when i try to install the latest version of itunes, the program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. try reinstalling the program to fix this problem??

I am having trouble reinstalling my Itunes on my desktop which uses Windows 7 and I can download it but once it's complete i keep getting this error message...The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. Please help me.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

When I want to get an app, an error message comes up saying I need 3.0 software update.  How do I get my ipod updated in itunes, when itunes says my ipod is already updated?
OR if I cannot update to software 3.0, how can I find apps that will work just for my ipod touch?

It sounds like you have a 1G iPod Touch, in which case you can only upgrade to iOS version 3.1.  Here is a link to purchase the update.

When I try to open iTunes, I get this error message: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." I've been able to uninstall all Apple products except iTunes as I get this error message: "The Installer has insufficent privileges to modify this file: C:\Program Files\i Tunes\Acknowledgments.rtf." I've had the iTunes on my laptop for a year and a half with no problems until now.

    Any suggestions please?

You probably need to either uninstall and reinstall itunes or to download the apple application support by itself
you can download the itunes http://www.apple.com/itunes/ here
then to do a complete uninstall / reinstall follow these instructions http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
you could also use 7zip to extract the individual installer for apple application support from the itunes setup file http://www.7-zip.org

  • HT1349 Trying to install latest iTunes for Windows 7 64-bit. Keep getting this error message "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."

Initially iTunes would not run although it had been running quite well up until now. Suddenly received this error on PC start-up "The program can't start because MSVC80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." Research on Net pointed me to iTunes as the issue. Tried to start iTunes and received that message again. Tried installing latest version of 64-bit iTunes and received the subject message part way through the install: Trying to install latest iTunes for Windows 7 64-bit. Keep getting this error message "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."
iTunes has been running great on this PC for years. What's up?
