In my java editro the string paramter is missing

in my parameter i have
the syntax like
public void buyer(ResultList result, Container container){
instead of
public void buyer( string a[], ResultList result, Container container){
in simple fn and
public String buyer1(Container container){
instead of
public String buyer1(string a[] ,Container container){
could u tell me the reason

Hi,
1. Go to the UDF , EDIT function , at the top near the signature of the method below Imports  you will find a pencil mark,  Click on this and you can chnage the number of input parameters for your UDF.
Currently you have not defined any Input Parameters for your UDF.
2. the difference in the signature indiactres type of UDF.
If you have selected Queue or Cache when defining the UDF, ( you can change this just by clicking on the Pencil mark as explained in 1 ) then the UDF becomes a advanced UDF and it will return a ResultList object.
If  you select Value ,it is a simple UDF with just the input parameter and the container element.

  • Question about the java doc of String.intern() method

    hi all, my native language is not english, and i have a problem when reading the java doc of String.intern() method. the following text is extract from the documentation:
    When the intern method is invoked, if the pool already contains a string equal to this String object as determined by the equals(Object) method, then the string from the pool is returned. Otherwise, this String object is added to the pool and a reference to this String object is returned.
    i just don't know the "a reference to this String object is returned" part, does the "the reference to this String" means the string that the java keyword "this" represents or the string newly add to the string pool?
    eg,
    String s=new String("abc");  //create a string
    s.intern();  //add s to the string pool, and return what? s itself or the string just added to string pool?greate thanks!

    Except for primitives (byte, char, short, int, long, float, double, boolean), every value that you store in a variable, pass as a method parameter, return from a method, etc., is always a reference, never an object.
    String s  = "abc"; // s hold a reference to a String object containing chars "abc"
    foo(s); // we copy the reference in variable s and pass it to the foo() method.
    String foo(String s) {
      return s + "zzz"; // create a new String and return a reference that points to it.
    s.intern(); //add s to the string pool, and return what? s itself or the string just added to string pool?intern returns a reference to the String object that's held in the pool. It's not clear whether the String object is copied, or if it's just a reference to the original String object. It's also not relevant.

  • Translate the string source like java source

    I need to calculate some user defined formulas in my application. I have this formula in string form (e.g. "operand1 * operand2 + operand3" ). I have gained operand values throught the reflection and pars this string throught the StringTokenizer. So I have parsed string with operand values and operators. Is it possible to calculate this string like java code ?

    Mayba possible. But why you dont convert the Strings in primitve types? You have just using static methods in the Wrapper classes like: Integer.parseInt(String), Double.parseDouble(String) and so on. The operators you can convert in a charakter and use
    switch (operatorChar):
    case '+' : ...
    case '-' : ...
    Take a look at the java.lang.Compiler, if you still want create bytecode.

  • Unable to capture the String[] from a JavaCallOut

    Hi all,
    I am doing an application in which I need to do a java callout which accepts string and return a String array as output. The java class alone is working fine but when I do the Java Callout and pass the string I am getting *"<con:java-content      ref="jcid:-31630335:136f3572827:-3925" xmlns:con="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/context"/>"* as a response. How should I access array variable in OSB?
    Kindly help me in this.
    Regards
    Phanindra.

    in Java Callouts I would avoid types which are not in THE list of supported types:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/eclipsehelp/ui_ref.html#wp1290279
    java.lang.String[] is supported for INPUT ONLY
    just return some CSV in a String and you will be happy
    or return a XmlObject containing multiple elements
    A con:java-content thingie can be processed only in another Java callout, and not in a OSB message flow....

  • Java Graphics -- Drawing Strings on JFrame

    Hello and thank you. I'm relatively young and I apologize for asking noob questions. The problem I am having is that I realized after 3 hours of research and then writing this code that when multiple JPanels are added to a JFrame, they overlap (I think) over each other. As a result, the output of this program below is at the bottom right of the frame, the number 841 appears (the last number in my array) and everything else is blank.
    And I could not at all understand how to create graphics objects. It kept giving me an error of not being able to be instantiated. And to be honest, I don't even really understand whats going on when I add the text to my JPanel. I never call paintComponents. And definately I could never even make a graphics object to provide it the parameter required. Anyway, I resolved to use Jpanels because they can be removed using the remove function of the JFrame. And It is vitally important that I can delete the strings off my frame. Here is my code:
    package main;
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.util.*;
    public class VisualFrame extends JFrame{
        ArrayList<JPanel> numbers = new ArrayList<JPanel>();
        public VisualFrame(){
            setSize(1000, 500);
            setTitle("Binary Search");
            setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
            setVisible(true);
        public void createPanels(int[] array){
            int x = 10;
            int y = 20;
            int xOffset = 50;
            int yOffset = 50;
            for(int i=0; i<array.length; i++){
                String num = Integer.toString(array);
    numPanel panel = new numPanel(num, x, y);
    numbers.add(panel);
    add(panel);
    x = x+xOffset;
    if(x>this.getWidth()){
    x = 10;
    y = y+yOffset;
    class numPanel extends JPanel{
    String num;
    int x;
    int y;
    public numPanel(String str, int x, int y){
    num = str;
    this.x = x;
    this.y = y;
    public void paintComponent(Graphics g){
    g.setColor(Color.black);
    g.setFont(new Font("Times", Font.BOLD, 12));
    g.drawString(num, x, y);
    My main method is inside of a different class:
        public static void main(String[] args){
            VisualFrame frame = new VisualFrame();
            frame.createPanels(array);
        }Firstly, do I even have the problem I'm having right? If so,
    Is there a way to restrict the size of the panels to the length and width of what it contains?
    Or can someone give me a good, very detailed link to how to use Graphics? Or perhaps someone could prove to me a good method.

    Why don't you start by learning from the experts?
    The Java Tutorial has sections that show how to use Java functionality.
    http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/
    The Graphiics section covers GUI and Swing
    http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/uiswing/index.html
    >
    Creating Graphical User Interfaces
    Creating a GUI with Swing — A comprehensive introduction to GUI creation on the Java platform.
    >
    And that section has links for trails such as how to use ALL of the different swing components including frames and panels
    http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/uiswing/components/index.html
    >
    Using Swing Components tells you how to use each of the Swing components — buttons, tables, text components, and all the rest. It also tells you how to use borders and icons.

  • Issue with the String return from com.sap.aii.af.mp.module.ModuleData

    Hi Friends,
    We are developing Adapter for XI using java, XI is giving String in the form of ModuleData, we r getting the String from ModuleData but in the logic we need to split the String in parts based on character '…', but I observed that in the communication channel symbol is showing as ' '.
    We have written the java code based on '…' but splitting is not working, then I tried with the following code
    String[] molecules = null;
    if(filedata.indexOf(" ") != -1){               molecules = filedata.split(" ");
    }else if(filedata.indexOf("?") != -1){
                    molecules = filedata.split("?");
    }else if(filedata.indexOf("…") != -1){
                    molecules = filedata.split("…");
    Still it is not working, please help in case of ModuleData text splitting..
    Thanks in advance.

    Check with a hex editor, what the  ' '. really is.
    Maybe it is a tab? Then you can use "\t" in a Java progam.

  • Problems with the Strings Urgent Help needed

    I have a unique problem. I have to retrieve a particular value from a String. I tried using String tokeniser but in vain. I cannot use java.util.regex package to match the expressions as the version of java on the client m/c is 1.1.8 and they are not ready to upgrade the same.
    The string From which I have is a very long one running into more than 100 lines which can vary from case to case all I know is to retrieve the value which is just in front of "TestValue" which occur only once in the String Can Anybody suggest a bettter alternative.
    Thanx.
    ebistrio

    StringTokenize on TestValueHow would you suggest that was done?
    As I understand it StringTokenizer tokens = new StringTokenizer(string, "TestValue"); would not tokenize on the string "TestValue" but on any of the characters 'T', 'e', 's', 't', 'V', 'a', 'l' or 'u'. This is a common java pitfall in my opinion due to bady named parameters (I feel it should be called "delims" not "delim") or in other people's opinion due to bad parameter type (should be a char[] not a string).
    A clearer explanation of the problem would help.

  • Problem in converting the String to Date with time zone GMT

    Hi,
    When I tried to convert the string 12/05/2009 to Date, the time zone is set to BST.On the other hand, for the date 12/12/2009, the time zone is set to GMT. What should I do to get the time zone as GMT all the time.?
    SimpleDateFormat formatter = new SimpleDateFormat("dd/MM/yyyy");
    String dateString = "12/05/2009";
    System.out.println(myDate.toString());

    I think you are all missing the point. java.util.Date objects always alway always store the date as the number of milliseconds since 1/1/1970 UTC so the only TimeZone they have its the implicit UTC. When you use the Date.toString() method the toString() method gets the default time zone from your environment and formats the data accordingly. This means that the same Date object will, by default, produce a different result for France and Australia and the US.
    So, if you have the date "12/5/2009" as a String then to convert it to a java.util.Date you must specify what TimeZone is implied. If it is your system time zone then you can just create a SimpleDateFormat object with the correct format and then use the parse() method to create the java.util.Date object and this will automatically be converted to UTC. If the date String represents some other time zone then you must explicitly set the time zone of the SimpleDateFormat object before parsing the string.
    The same approach applies when converting a java.util.Date object to a String. If you want anything other than your system time zone then you must explicitly tell the SimpleDateFormat what time zone you want the result formatted for.

    The problem occurs at line 66 in class car.deDeedandeSurvey.view.frameworkExt.CustomErrorHandler, which is a non-ADF class, most probably it is a class of your own. Go to line 66 in this class and look at the source code. If it is not clear what happens there, set a breakpoint within the method car.deDeedandeSurvey.view.frameworkExt.CustomErrorHandler.displayProperly and debug it. If you do not have the original source code, then decompile this class and look at the source code. You can set a breakpoint at this line even if you do not have the source code.

  • How to validate the string object for alphabet input

    how to do this.
    As Rene suggested, you can do this using the Pattern class:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/util/regex/Pattern.html
    You can do it also by looping through your String and check with String's charAt(index) method (which returns a char) to see if every char from the String is >= A AND <= z.

    Good luck.

  • How to avoid string copy when spliting the string?

    Hi all,
    I have some old APIs (which I do not have control over) that expects the caller to pass the "content" of a text file as either String or String[] (each element is a line in the text file). Since the text file can be huge, I want to save memory and try to only hold 1 copy of the file content in memory. So, the question boils down to how can I make a String variable and a String[] variable share one single piece of memory.
    After digging into the source code, I notice the String.substring(...) always makes allocate a new memory space for the returning string if the result substring is smaller than 1/4 of the actual String. The String.split() method internally also invokes the String.substring(...) method.
    This creates a problem for me. If I first load the content of a file into a String "a". Then I call "String[] array = a.split("\n")", as the result, each element in the resulting array will be a copy of the substring of the original String "a" (since each line in my text file will be smaller than 1/4 of the entire file). StringTokenizer seems to have the same problem. Is there anything else I could do?
    I really would like to extends the String class and override the substring method to make it always "share" the same memory content. But since String class is declared as final, I cannot do this. I think maybe the String.split() method implementation should make the return String[] from the split function share the same memory space as the original string. Any workaround anyone can suggest?
    Thanks

    While you could try to create some sort of custom class, if you want something that is already in java, you need to use one of the instantiations of CharSequence
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/lang/CharSequence.html
    Personally, I would recommend CharBuffer. From the look of it, it seems most like what you want.

    line in my text file will be smaller than 1/4 of the
    entire file). StringTokenizer seems to have the same
    problem. Is there anything else I could do?
    I really would like to extends the String class and
    nd override the substring method to make it always
    "share" the same memory content. But since String
    class is declared as final, I cannot do this. I
    think maybe the String.split() method implementation
    should make the return String[] from the split
    function share the same memory space as the original
    string. Any workaround anyone can suggest?
    Thanks

  • Java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: 8

    Hi Friends,
    I have a search window ,in one I/P Field i entered * and kept the default max hits to display as 100 records(This can be changed).
    Now when i click on Search i get 100 records being displayed,later when i change it to 150,200 Hits i am able to get them displayed(Records).
    But when i enter value greater than 200(i had entered 220) i am getting the following exception.
    java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: 8
    Can anyone please help me out to resolve this issue.
    Thanks and regards,
    Chandrashekar.

    Hello Chandrashekar,
            It looks like in  the loop of number of records, you are fetching the record and processing the string either using charAt() method or subString method or any similar method.
    But in one of the record string after 200th record is having a string which when you are processing are having length less than 8.
    Say : String s = "Correct";
    will give StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: 8 as the length is only 7 and you are  cheking for char at position 8.
    Just check the processing you are doing within the record loop and also the records.
    Hope this helps.

    Found the problem.
    Solution : Do not install Jdev in a directory path which contains blanks spaces.
