In the Memory summary what is Uncategorized memory?

I'm trying to figure out where a memory leak in our project is. We are using PureMVC.
In the summary of panel under used memory I see that most of the memory is in a category called other/Uncategorized.   What does that category mean? Is it the creation of objects that are not being removed?  Objects with strong listeners attached?  I need a hint

Other than sound clips, server calls, pureMVC notifications, loading of swf assets, handling mouse clicks, and animations  it's not doing much
So if I understand you correctly, "Uncategorized" are various processes or objects created by the FlashPlayer or that might be created by some swcs but not created directly in the regular code?

  • In the memory summary, what is "Other Players?"

Currently I have a Flash program which, in IE9, has a 1GB footprint with 311MB of "Uncategorized" allocations and 541MB of "Other Players."
    1) What does the "Other Players" categorization in the memory panel mean?
    2) What's the plan for adding additional memory categories to help developers understand what's going on at runtime?
    Thanks.

    Hi Joe.
A Flash player process can simultaneously play multiple SWFs, either because you are in a browser that has more than one SWF playing (on the same web page, or in different browser windows), or because you are using worker threads. When you look at the Scout session for one of the SWFs, the "Total Memory" number tells how memory the Flash Player process is using, and the "Other Players" category tells how much memory is being used by SWFs other than the one you're currently looking at.
Our highest priority right now is to improve the reporting of memory usage. Watch for some cool new memory features in future release(s).

I have just over 100gig of music in my iTunes library plus what ever else I add in the future. Because of the amount I had to save my music library on an external drive as my laptop did not have the memory to hold it all. I want to back up my iTunes library and save it on a different external drive, one I store all my back ups on. Is this possible? If so how can I do it?

To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions
Delete the "songs" that do not play in your iTunes library and reimport them.

  • What is the memory concept u201CExport to memory idu201D.

    Hello Experts!!!
I am new in OOPS programing. Can please somebody tell me what is the memory concept u201CExport to memory idu201D. Also it will make my life so easy if can have few simple examples.
    Thanks.

    This is from SAP help:
When you specify MEMORY, the data cluster is written to the ABAP Memory with the stated ID id. id is expected to be a flat character-type data object which contains an identification with a maximum of 60 characters. An already existing data cluster with the same identification id is completely overwritten. By the identification in id, a data cluster is identified in the memory and can be read again with the same identification.
    Obsolete short form
The addition ID can be omitted outside classes. However, this is prone to errors, as all EXPORT statements without identification overwrite the same data cluster.
    ABAP Memory
Memory area within every main session, which the programs with the statements EXPORT and IMPORT can access. This memory area is maintained via a succession of program calls (call sequence).
    Note
A data cluster in the ABAP memory is available to all programs within a call sequence, whereby data can be handed over to called programs.
    Example
Two fields with two different identifications "P1" and "P2" with the dynamic variant of the cluster definition are written to the ABAP Memory. After execution of the statement IMPORT, the contents of the fields text1 and text2 are interchanged.
    TYPES:
      BEGIN OF tab_type,
        para TYPE string,
        dobj TYPE string,
      END OF tab_type.
    DATA:
id    TYPE c LENGTH 10 VALUE 'TEXTS',
      text1 TYPE string VALUE `IKE`,
      text2 TYPE string VALUE `TINA`,
      line  TYPE tab_type,
itab  TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF tab_type.
    line-para = 'P1'.
    line-dobj = 'TEXT1'.
    APPEND line TO itab.
    line-para = 'P2'.
    line-dobj = 'TEXT2'.
    APPEND line TO itab.
EXPORT (itab)     TO MEMORY ID id.
    IMPORT p1 = text2
           p2 = text1 FROM MEMORY ID id.

  • I have a huge amount of my memory used by 'other' than photos and music - to my knowledge, there is nothing there apart from a few songs and photos and 5 podcasts. What could it be? How could I get rid of this 'other' stuff and get the memory back?

  • When I connect my iPod3 to my Imac, the memory shows 13GB or so assigned to "other" (color coded yellow). What is this "other, and can I clear it?

When I connect my iPod3 to my Imac, the memory shows 13GB or so assigned to "other" (color coded yellow). What is this "other", and can I clear it?

The "Other" section on your iPod consists of several different things including album artwork, files you may or could be storing on it externally when using the iPod as a storage disk, the iPod's software/OS, as well as corrupt files that are leftover from failed sync operations with iTunes or are no longer recognized by the iPod's software or iTunes. The size of other is usually quite minute, around less than a GB, sometimes a little more (depending on the amount of media stored on your iPod).
In order to clear this space out, you'll need to restore your iPod to factory settings in iTunes.

I have the MacBook Pro (retina, 13 inch, Mid 2014) Memoria 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3 and I want to increase the memory. What kind of memory do I have to buy?

The RAM in the retina model can not be upgraded.

  • What is using the memory? help please.

i just noticed that in the bottom of my finder it says i only have 7.42 gb available. i do have a lot of photos and music on my computer, but i have taken off things like garage band, which i never use.
i feel like 7.42 is very little, and i am wondering if there is a way to see what is using the memory (and how much each application is using). i just have an ibook g4 and i didn't get anything added to it when i bought it, i am just worried i have a bug eating my memory.
    any suggestions?

    Hi annamaria,
WhatSize will show you the size of every file/folder on your computer. Photos can take up a lot of space especially if you have the individual files and have imported them into iPhoto. In that case you have two of each.
It's doubtful there's any bug taking the hard drive space. Over time we just accumulate more and more and slowly run out of space.

Yes, I think most of us do understand what open source software is. It sounds as if you don't. Here's some information:
Open-source software (OSS) is computer software that is available in source code form: the source code and certain other rights normally reserved forcopyright holders are provided under an open-source license that permits users to study, change, improve and at times also to distribute the software.
Open source software is very often developed in a public, collaborative manner. Open-source software is the most prominent example of open-sourcedevelopment and often compared to (technically defined) user-generated content or (legally defined) open content movements.

Yes, Tom Wu of Stanford wrote a paper on something called Secure Remote Access Protocol. It's a form of Asymetric Key Exchange and has nothing to do with hacking anything. It's actually intended to protect data.

I keep getting a "not enough memory"  comment on my computer.  Where can I look to find out what is taking up the memory while i'm working?

Are you referring to the message that says your startup disk is full?  If so, you need to delete some files from the hard drive, or get a larger hard drive.  Moving some files to an external hard drive is a quick and easy solution.  Note that you should avoid the temptation to use various utilities to clean up your system or remove parts (like unused languages).  That will not free up much space and can easily result in damaging your system.

  • When purchasing a song my computer tells me the memory in the store is low and unable to complete purchase what does this mean??

Please help!! My computer has been displaying a message saying the memory in the iTunes store is low and my purchase cannot be completed.. what does it mean and how can I fix it??

It just needs to rebuild the database. You do have your iPhoto library backed up to an external source just in case?
And how do I rebuild it?
Hold down the Option + Command keys then launch iPhoto.
    Select the first option.

  • I have bought a tv series and watched the episodes but no matter what i do with settings the memory is still being taken up on my ipad2? what can i do?

I have bought a tv series and watched the episodes but no matter what i do with settings the memory is still being taken up on my ipad2? what can i do?

If you mean that the shows are still taking up space on the iPad - of course they will unless you remove them. Is that what you mean?
You can transfer them into iTunes on your computer and kept them there via File>Transfer Purchases while the iPad is connected to the computer with iTunes running and if the iPad has been selected on the left side of the iTunes window under Devices.
If you just want to delete them - go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Video>Edit and you can select the shows and delete them. You can also tap and hold down on the TV show icons in the Videos App and the X will pop up to delete the shows.

  • What is the memory size in HD 4000 in the new Macbook?

What is the memory size in HD 4000 in the new Macbook?
Is it really equal to Geforce 520m?

I bought a Core i7 Macbook pro 15" mid 2012 non retina model, with 8 GB RAM,
It has Intel HD 4000 512 MB VRAM and Nvidia GT-650M 1 GB VRAM
Apple released ( MacBook Air & MacBook Pro Update 2.0 ) for mid 2012 model
It is not a firmware update...
The results after the update ... Intel HD 4000 384 MB VRAM instead of 512 MB
I reinstalled the OS 10.8, 10.8.2 combo update again, and did hide the MacBook pro update 2.0
The VRAM of the Intel HD 4000 came to 512 MB
    so in my case
    8GB RAM -> 384 VRAM After update
    8GB RAM -> 512 VRAM Before update
    which is better ??

  • What is the memory for a NI PXI-1010 Chassis?

What is the memory for a NI PXI-1010 Chassis?
If it does contain memory what are the sizes and types? And how can it be sanitized to bring it to an unclassified state?
    Thanks, CT
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

1010 is a chassis, and doesn't have memory. Memory is on the controller.
