In the past, when I clicked to "close" Firefox and multiple tabs were open, I would get a box that asked if I wanted to save all tabs in my Bookmarks . Now I don't see this option.

Apparently the only way to bookmark all tabs now is to use some clunky key combination. Why have you made it more difficult to use?
I have given all the details that I know how to give. I can find no place that I can check a box or otherwise tell Firefox to bookmark all open tabs under the same new bookmark folder entry.

Firefox 4 and later versions save the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session.
Use "File > Exit" or "Firefox > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit Firefox") if you want to restore multiple windows.
You can use "History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time.
You may need to click the orange/gray Firefox button to see History.
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default about:home Home page.
Another possibility is to use:
* [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differences Firefox/Tools > Options] > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

I suspected you used the eye icon on the timeline to hide the message, but that one has no impact whatsoever on the published version. It is only meant to be used for editing reasons on the stage, to hide objects temporarily on a crowded stage. It is confusing, certainly in CP8 where for both instances the same eye icon is used. In previous versions the Properties panel had a checkbox for 'Show in Output', which was IMO much clearer than this eye icon. But of course, that is only my personal opinion.

A misleading and malicious popup. Launch Safari with the Shift key held down; if that doesn't work, temporarily disconnect the computer from the Internet.

Interesting suggestion, but it's not clear to me how I would do that if I'm not using an "(at) icloud.com" email address/account. I am having the same problem with changed invitations that come from an organizer who is using Google Apps. My email account is hosted at my ISP - it's not obvious to me how I can use iCloud to access that email account (and therefore the changed invitation). Suggestions?

The website may be using autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from saving the name and password.
You can remove autocomplete=off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox save the name and password.

• When I close Firefox and then try to open it, it says it is already running and I have to close it which I can't do. The only way to open it is to first restart my computer which is a pain. If I can't fix this I will use an other brouser!

I am not sure what more I can tell you. I close firefox. So when I click on the icon it should allow me to open it again but I get a message that says it is already running. Either close it out which I can't do since I already did that or restart the computer.

Try holding control, alt and delete down in succession and then a dialogue box will appear with windows task manager. Once open click on the Processes Tab and look for firefox.exe. Highlight this and then click end process. It should come up with a warning but just click Yes. This should then close firefox and allow you to reopen it from your desktop without shutting down your computer. Hope this helps.

• On exit, I am not asked if I want to save existing tabs and it closes all of them without saving. How do I get F-F to save my tabs on exit?

I upgraded from version 3.5 In that version when I wanted to quit for the day, I could hit exit and it would ask me if I wanted to quit or save tabs and exit.
In version 4 when I hit file, then exit, it does not ask if I want to save the tabs that are open, it just closes everything and does not save them. When I restart, I get a new tab window, but none of the other tabs I was working on are there.
I need to keep the tabs I am working on available to me; that is what I liked best about the old version.

Firefox now always stores the old session, and you can access it by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session"
If you want Firefox to display the message to save the session, it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.
# Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
# Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
# Locate the preference '''browser.tabs.warnOnClose''', if its value is set to '''false''', double-click on it to change its value to '''true'''
# Repeat this for these 3 preferences '''browser.warnOnQuit''', '''browser.warnOnRestart''' and '''browser.showQuitWarning'''
If you always open the last set of tabs, an alternative approach is this:
# Click the orange Firefox button, then select options to open the options window
# Go to the General panel
# Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

• Upgrading from 3.6 to 10, I find that a link opens in the current tab not a new one. I don't see this option in options. How do I enable it?

In the old version of Firefox 3.6.x, clicking on a link automatically opened a new tab in the current window. You could option whether to switch to it immediately or just keep opening tabs from links in the tab being used.
Now, in 10, I need to manually open a new tab before I click on a link or it will open in the tab being used.
No so convenient. I preferred the way it was.

The default behavior of Firefox (all versions) will open a link or bookmark in the current tab when clicking only with the left mouse button.
'''To open a link or Bookmark in a new tab''' you can do any of the following:
*press the mouse scroll wheel on a link or Bookmark
*hold down the CTRL key while left-clicking the link or Bookmark
*right-click the link or Bookmark and choose "Open in a New Tab"

• When working in iPhoto I kept getting a dialog box that asked if I wanted to delete the photo. I checked the little box that said do not show this again. Well, I want to get this warning box back but I don't know where to find it.

Hi I was organizing pictures in iphoto. I am new at this. I was deleting a bunch of duplicate pictures and I kept getting a 'warning box" that kept asking "are you sure you want to delete?" I knew I wanted to delete all these pics so I checked the box that said "check box if you dont want to see this warning." So checked the box. Now I want to get that warning box back. Any ideas? I can't find anything on the internet or manuals. thanks

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

• So, often when I try to reopen a saved page that I produced in Pages. It won't open, instead I get a box that says, "the required index.xml file is missing"

I think it's pretty self explanatory. This has only been happening since I upgraded to OS X Yosemite about a month ago. I'm running version 10.10.1 on my iMac. Another thing that I find odd is that my application icon for Pages doesn't look like the new one. It's the same old one with the purple inkwell and pen, yet it doesn't offer me any upgrade, when I find it in the App store or when I run "look for upgrades". It's ******* me off..! I'm a painting contractor and I write proposals all day. Sometimes they come back up fine when I click on the page I've been working on, sometimes I get the error notice. Even when I make a copy, duplicate or backup.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac and are alternately opening one or the other.
Pages 5.5.1 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '08/'09 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
Pages'08/'09 can not open Pages 5.5.1 files and Pages 5.5.1 alters Pages '09 files.
Right click open to chose the correct version of Pages for your files.
Pages 5.5.1 is a supposed "upgrade" but has over 100 features missing. I am surprised you didn't notice the huge difference in the User Interface as well.
If you are unhappy about all this mess, say so by rating/reviewing Pages 5.5.1 in the App Store.

• When I click on any Appleworks document or try to open Appleworks, I get a dialog box saying :Appleworks Quit Unexpectedly" I have a current model iMac running OS 10.6.8. My Appleworks is version 6.2.9. Any suggestions?

When I try to open an Appleworks document or try to open Appleworks itself, I get a dialog box stating: "Appleworks 6 Quit Unexpectedly". I have Appleworks 6.2.9 and my OS is 10.6.8. Any suggestions?
Many thanks

There was a security update through Software Update a couple of months ago for 10.6.8 that caused this kind of problem for PPC applications. Apple issued a revised update a couple of days later. So my first suggestion is to run Software Update to make sure you have the updated update. You can also manually download the updater at this link.
Whenever AppleWorks quits unexpectedly or you force quit it, there will be some corruption of its preferences.
To delete AppleWorks’ preference files, go to HD > Users > Library > Preferences. Find and delete the file com.apple.appleworks.plist. Find and open the folder AppleWorks in this Preferences folder, then delete all of the enclosed files (with the exception of the Button Bar Preferences if you have customized the Button Bars). AppleWorks will recreate the preference files as it needs them.

• If I close a session on Firefox and then try to reopen it, I get a screen that says "you must close your current session because Firefox is already running".

The power went out and when it came back on, my computer seemed fine. I was able to access the internet through Firefox as usual. However, if I closed my session and tried to reopen it, it would say that there was already a session open and that I would have to close it before trying again. I would have to go to the task manager and find Firefox in the list of processes and end the process in order to get back to the internet. I have tried restarting my computer twice. What could be the problem?

Try to wait a bit longer before reopening Firefox to give Firefox more time to close completely.
• Firefox used to ask if I wanted to save my tabs when I exited. Now it does not and it closes everything. I don't want it to do that. How can I get my tabs to remain open? So far I'm really sorry I downloaded this version. Yuck!

I think I found the refresh. What about keeping my tabs when I exit?

That was really helpful. Thanks.
