In Yahoo Mail thumbnail photos appear broken in email messages
I cannot view thumbnail photos in email messages that have photo attachments in my Yahoo Mail. The thumbnail appears as a broken image. When I click on the thumbnail it does open up a valid photo image.
The problem occurs all the time in every email that has a thumbnail photo in it. It occurs in not only the Yahoo New Mail version but also in the Yahoo Classic Mail version.
I have tried opening the email with both the Firefox and Google Chrome browsers, but the thumbnails appear broken when viewing the Yahoo Mail in both browsers. I am using Firefox 10.0 and Google Chrome 11.0 on a PC using Windows XP.
I have a screenshot of how the broken thumbnails appear in the message if you want to see it.
(It seems like the problem started with my upgrade to the Firefox 10.0 browser.)
I've contacted yahoo on this same thing and it is them not your browser. I've tried in IE and Firefox and only get a generic thumbnail and if you click on slideshow you get black screen for each image.

Doesn't look like they are in a hurry to fix the issue, can't believe more people haven't complained. It's been weeks for me and still doesn't work

When I open Yahoo mail, I frequently get headings but no message, but the message is there on Safari. With Yahoo Mail, and anotare account (Inacap Mail), I can only receive mails but I can't send emails. I don't know if this is a problem of the iPad or it is a problem with yahoo mail, because using Gmail and the email of my job I don' have this problem.
Google them to confirm the settings that you need for the outgoing server, then check the setting you entered on the pad. Pay real close attention to the outgoing server name, and port. You may need to change in on the pad.

I am using a MacBook Pro. I simply cannot find a way to attach images adjusted in Lightroom as attachments and/or without massive degradation in quality. I follow the LR attach email process as specified by LR, the photos appear in the email seemingly embedded and the recipients of the email cannot save the attachment.
You are welcome. Just finished a chat session with an Apple support rep and confirmed the matte option no longer available. Seems lots has changed since I bought my 17” 19 months back:). They did say that there were after market screen films available from places like amazon
Have never used anything like that though. My wife has a 2008 MBP 15” with gloss and I can say it is a nice screen finish, you just have to be careful of lighting from behind you. All my iMacs were glossy and I did learn to compensate for the added brilliance the screen brought to the photos. The new soft proofing feature of LR5 seems to better estimate the level of brightness of the printed work, compared to past versions of the s/ware.
In any case, in my opinion you really can’t go wrong with the apple product. I bought my first iMac in mid 1999 and have never looked back. I donated that machine to a pre-school in 2008, it was running OSX version 2 or 3 I think. I did run Photoshop 7.0 on an IBM laptop for a time (windows XP). I think I had one of the very first versions of Adobe Camera Raw on that machine. I digress, sorry.
The chat representative did confirm that the 17” is out of production and I’m guessing Apple found the market for the big laptop just wasn’t there. They did mention that 17” MBP’s show up as “certified refurbished” units from time to time. Suggest you might explore that option with a local Apple store in the UK, assuming Apple has store front operations off this continent of course.

I'm using LR5.7 on a Mac Mini running Mavericks and when I attempt to import a folder of new RAW photos from my external drive into my catalog instead of seeing a preview of each thumbnail photo I see the following message displayed: "Preview Unavailable for this file." If I highlight any other folder of photos the previews are all there. What is the likely reason for these previews being unavailable? JohnnyCam

Mail doesn't always open an email message on first try

I have an issue where Mac Mail doesn't always open an email message on the first try. This is happening on two of my Macs and I seem to remember this starting with the installation of Mavericks, but I'm not entirely positive about that. It may have been happening before Mavericks.
This issue does not happen with every message I open, and it seems to happen with random messages at random times, so it's tough to pinpoint exactly what triggers th problem.
I'm not sure if it's one of these non-default settings that I use:
1) I keep the message preview window closed so that I only see the list of email messages. (I keep it closed by sliding the edge where the message list and the preview window meet, all to the right).
2) I keep "Use Classic Layout" checked in my Mail Preferences.
3) I keep "Organize by Conversation" deselected in the View menu.
I've tried restoring these defaults and I can't replicate the issue but obviously, having the preview window open eliminates the need to double-click the message to open. However, double-clicking the emails opens them right up. I'm still testing this, however, I just started testing and as I mentioned previously, I prefer to have Mail configured differently.
Has anyone else come across this issue and discovered the culprit?Did you ever solve this problem? I have the same issue on two different iMacs, one at work and one at home and on my macbook pro. It's becoming irritating and I wonder why Apple can't be bothered to fix it.

How can one send email-sized photo files as attachments in Apple Mail, without the photos appearing in the body of the email? If it can be done, it's not at all obvious, at least not to me. Thanks for any help you can provide.
The "View as icon" option shrinks the photo to an icon in the sender's Apple Mail, but how it appears to the recipient varies dependingy on what e-mail client he/she uses.
Using Apple Mail 5.0 (the Lion version) at both ends, the sender can use the "View as icon" option to shrink his view of the photo to an icon, but the recipient also using Apple Mail 5.0 still sees the full photo in line with the message text. The recipient can then use the "View as icon" option to shrink it to an icon, but I don't think that's not what jackofarabia is looking for.
As far as I know there is no way in the current Apple Mail to do what jackofarabia wants. There should be, but there isn't. -
While I open my yahoo mail on iphone, it always appear "password missing" and ask me to enter the 8-digit password. My email password is not 8-digit. How can I get the password ?

BT Yahoo Mail - Unexpected Tab Appearing
Hi,
Every time I open my e-mail account using BT Yahoo Mail an unexpected and uninvited tab appears next to the 'Contacts' tab. On the tab it says "tasty_waterfall63" and because I'm concerned it might be phishing, I hastily click the x to close it. A pop-up then appears saying that I have unsent messages and do I really want to close the conversation. I obviously click 'yes'. Does anyone know what it might be and how I get rid of it please?

I assume you don't need to use Yahoo Messenger? - it sounds like one of them random invites from a user that bombards many other random users!
Via your BTYahoo home page, click on "Hi x" in the upper left hand corner, sign out of messenger and also mark yourself as invisible.
Should do the trick.

Before I install Firefox 4, I have been use Firefox 3.6 and when I was checking my yahoo mail, there was not any problem to view or download file attachment.
After installing Firefox 4, when I receive a new mail with file attachment, like as video, or document, I can not see the attachment to download it. but with other web browsers like IE, I can see the attachment of the email.Hi!

I do not use Trend Micro, but have the same issues. I just found my "AdBlock Plus" add-on was stopping the attachment download. What you should do to see if this is your problem too: disable AdBlock Plus, restart firefox and see if your problem is solved. Now enable AdBlock Plus again and restart Firefox.
To fix this problem: In Firefox, click on Add-ons, go to AdBlock Plus, go to Options, click on Filters--> reset statistics. Go to your attachment, click on the attachment (it will fail to download of course). Go back to AdBlock Plus and sort the statistics for "Hits". Now you can see which filter is blocking your attachment download. Disable this filter and you problem is solved!

first digit typed when replying to an email on yahoo mail on firefox is not appearning. not an issue on safari or chrome browsers.
I believe that our “Werbung problem” adds an additional second hyperlink to the pop-up window. This second link is activated whenever you trigger a saved hyperlink to a Mail.com site.
I had the same problem and eliminated it by deleting all bookmarks, hyperlinks and automatic links that take firefox to a mail.com address. So I just deleted all bookmarks I had saved for mail.com. I also changed my home page link because it also went to my email at mail.com. I then did a warm boot, opened firefox and re-saved my bookmarks and homepage to the desired addresses. Good luck. -
Email contents not visible using Yahoo mail, Windows 7 pro, FF3.6; email content fine in IE
New laptop with Windows 7 pro; loaded FF....worked fine for a couple weeks....then, contents in email no longer visible-----just blank box where text would normally appear. Only known changes were auto updates to adobe and auto updates to Windows. Zonealarm security in place since beginning, no changes since installation. When using IE, email is visible.
Just uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled. Same result....emails still not visible.
Appreciate any suggestions.....I hate using IE.When you send mail the field you mention is used to populate the "ReplyTo: fild in the mail header. Otherwise it has no purpose and setting it to nothing will also work.
Yahoo are obviously checking that field as you send mail. that is points to a valid address, and I have a sneaking suspicion that is might be required to point to your yahoo mail account.
Historically the"Nigerian" type scam emails used a replyto address completely different from the one used to send the mail. So even if the sending account was closed down they still got the replies. The mail quite commonly originated in Yahoo and replied to Hotmail accounts. So I guess they have a check to try and discourage that legitimate, but undesirable from their perspective, use. -
I signed into yahoo mail okay. what happens is after I open my mail the past two days all of a sudden the page would get fuzzy and I couldn't read anything or it would turn white. This never happened before and I looked at the top of the browser and it said mozilla firefox is unresponsive. I tried signing out and nothing worked. I tried minimizing the page and closing it manually and it would not let me. I tried deleting cookies and what happened it that the temporary files kept deleting for about five minutes. it was very upsetting. I have no idea what is causing this. Even when I went to control panel-internet options-delete cookies it sometimes went unresponsive. that's a first. any advise is helpful
Firefox keeps its own temporary files and cookies, separate from the ones stored by IE which you can manage through the Windows menu. If you haven't already done the following, please give it a try:
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
(You also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now")
(2) Remove your yahoo.com cookies (save any pending work first) using either of these:
* While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help at all?
When Yahoo goes blank or fuzzy moving to a different task, it may be doing some kind of animated transition. Have you noticed any graphics or font rendering anomalies?
Try disabling Firefox's hardware acceleration of graphics. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You usually need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"

I received an email (yahoo.mail) and a pic was in the body of the email and the email was sent from an iphone. When I try to copy the pic to my desk top it only copies as a download no matter which way I try to copy it. How do I copy the pic from the body of the email as a jpeg?
Click the image , hold your mouse button, drag it and bring it to Firefox window from task bar below and release it into the body of your e-mail.Works on Gmail, Yahoomail , Hotmail....May not work on other e-mail service providers.
