  • Sent emails are missing from Thunderbird following migration from alternative email client and import of emails

All sent emails are missing from the Thunderbird 'Sent' folder following import, but Sent folder still shows a count of the imported emails (Thunderbird considered them to be unread when importing them, hence the count). The messages are also visible online (BT Internet email) and on other devices (Android running BlueMail). Settings are set to place copies of sent items into Sent folder. Having imported all my old email, I can send email but again they do not appear in the Sent folder (but do appear online and on other devices). I have tried compacting the Sent folder and i have tried repairing the folder. All other folders (Inbox, other newly created folders) show the email i have imported.
If I move an email online from the Sent folder to another test folder, it syncs and appears in Thunderbird in that test folder. If I then use Thunderbird to move the email back from that test folder to the Sent folder then Thunderbird will do so, but locks up for a good minute or so while doing that.
Running TB 24.6.0 on Windows 8.1, incoming server set to IMAP on mail.btinternet.com (port 993), outgoing server set to SMTP on mail.btinternet.com (port 465).
    Help gratefully received!

    Cheers for that, Mulder.
It did seem to recover some emails which had disappeared from Mail, but not all of them. That's the frustrating thing - short of going through my Yahoo webmail accounts and logging every single email, and then cross-referencing with what's on my desktop, I just can't be sure what's there and what's not!
Sometimes it's immediately clear that something is awry - the folder I use for emails from my girlfriend is completely empty, for instance, when I definitely had things in there before the weekend. (Yes, again I went away for the weekend, with the computer still running - and Mail on - and again I returned to discover emails missing.
    Arrgh!

  • Old "sent emails" are MISSING

I've been using me.com since 2008, back then it was a paid service. When the time came, I switched to iCloud, no problem, I enjoy the service. Recently I need to find some sent emails during the period of mid-2011 then I realized that my "Sent" folder only records sent emails from May 2012 (which I think around the time I switched to iCloud, perhaps June 2012). Older emails are MISSING. I'm using Mail in my iMac but when I tried to login to www.me.com or www.icloud.com, and accessed my "Sent" folder, it's the same. Strangely enough, my emails in "Inbox" (both in my iMac & at the server) are intact, only those in "Sent" folder are missing.
Anyone has any idea what's going on? Is there a chance I could get my old emails (pre-May, 2012)? Thanks.

I've been using Mail (currently 4.6 (1085)) to handle all my emails including my Gmail account. Yes, I did migrate, I remember changing some settings through the web but I don't recall changing things in my Mail setting. Perhaps, I did, I'm not sure. I attach a screen capture of my Mail settings:
Yes, it's foolish to have no backup. I've been using TimeMachine with TimeCapsule for quite some time now. I think I switched from MM to iCloud around June 2012, when it was close to deadline. Does my attached picture answer your question about the server setting?

I have set up folders on iCloud to file my mail but notice that some of the emails are missing when I've transferred them. Can anyone tell me where they are and how to get them back please?

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

NB : you can not open two catalogs in same time.

  • Some of my emails are missing from the VIP folder on my iPhone 5

I know they are in my inbox but they don't show up in the VIP folder. I'm using Yahoo mail and I don't have any filter set on these emails.Any idea on how to fix this?
    Thanks!

    Maxine,
With the recent update of the Creative Cloud Desktop app (1.9.1.474) we unfortunately introduced a bug which causes the creation of a new Creative Cloud Files folder, and re-sync of all content. This will only occur the first time the sync application runs after the update. This has caused understandable pain and confusion, for which we truly apologise.
The Creative Cloud Files app contains logic that supports the use of multiple Adobe IDs. This allows you to sign out of one ID and in to another, but keeps your Creative Cloud content separate. When you sign out and change IDs, the app moves the previous Creative Cloud Files folder and it's contents and appends it with the previously signed in ID (User@AdobeID). It then creates a new main folder and starts to sync content of the new ID.
The bug which I mentioned previously occurs, as the app believes an ID switch has taken place and as such, moves the current Creative Cloud Files folder and tries to append the previously signed in ID. As no switch has actually taken place it manifests as (Unknown).  The app then creates a new main folder at syncs down the data.
Essentially what you end up with is a Creative Cloud Files folder with your newly sync'd data and a Creative Cloud Files (Unknown) folder that contains duplicate data.
This occurs once, after the last update completes.
The fix is to simply delete the Creative Cloud Files (Unknown) folder.
I would advise that you ensure you have no pending edits that you may have made offline and that you check the contents of the new, main Creative Cloud Files folder contains everything you expect it to.  If not, check the contents of the Creative Cloud Files (Unknown) folder.
If there is still a discrepancy with your data, you can check on creative.adobe.com to confirm your data is there.

  • Emails are missing

Emails beyond a week are disappearing.  I have a gap from 2013 to July 3, 2015.  I am not deleting them nor are my settings set to automatically delete emails.  I use this for my business and emails from customers are disappearing.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have it set to never delete emails.  I have checked the Trash folder and recovered deleted items.  None that I am looking for are there as there are only a handful.  There should be alot more. I have 3 comcast accounts and and this one is the only one that has an issue.  I am pretty savy when it comes to email and technology, so I have checked all possible settings and solutions. Yes, I have a smartphone.  I have checked my settings and they are set up the same as the other two accounts, plus my outlook account.

  • Switched to iCloud and now my trash emails are missing

I am missing months of emails in my trash bin. I double checked the Mailbox behavior settings and everything is checked appropriately - to indicate NEVER to delete. I am only available to see the last week's emails that have been put in the trash.
    How do I recover them?

Though nothing was said about the Trash I'm not entirely surprised that migrating from MobileMe to iCloud cleared the Trash. Why on earth did you keep messages in the Trash if you wanted to hang on to them? There will certainly be no way to retrieve them.

  • EMails are missing after Snow Leapard to Mountian Lion migration

Finally received my I7 27" iMac. I took my Time Machine back up from my Snow Leopard Mac Pro and migrated everything over to the new iMac, Everything looks like it came over without a hitch but while I have all of my Mailboxes and folders and the one ON MY MAC, none of the existing mail folders has any actual emails in the folders, only the iCloud account and those go back several months. I checked the Library folder on the iMac and it seems that Mail accounts are listed under Mail>V2 but none of the mail is showing up.
Does anyone know how to correct this? Looks like I'll be using my Mac Pro for a bit longer.

I tried that all the emails appear in a separate IMPORT folder. I can then move the appropriate emails into the correct folder but that's a lot of emails.I have restored from TM back ups before and never had this issue. I wonder if it was due to moving from SL to ML.

  • I've set up my email on my ipad to sync with yahoo but i'm missing my most recent emails are missing has anyone else come across this?

    Hi,
Could anyone help, point me in the right direction
I've set up my email on my ipad to sync with yahoo but i'm missing my most recent emails. Can't find any obvious settings faults.
    Thanks.

    Hi Jeremy,
That is my understanding.  Clicking "Delete Account" is similar to logging out of iCloud with that account.
But your situation is different from mine, as I had been using my @me.com account for "Find My iPhone" only.  I ended up using my @me.com account for iCloud and another account for my Apple iTunes Store purchases.
That's correct--it will not delete your purchases.  You can still back-up to your Mac with iTunes using the same account you used to purchase your Apple stuff.  -Bob-

  • Q10 ActiveSync Random Emails are missing

    Hello,
I was having an issue with ActiveSync, and random new emails not coming through. But its coming through on all other activesync devices, my playbook and ipad.
I would only notice because it does not show up on my q10.
I have delete the activesync account, and re-add it for all the emails to come through.
    Anyone else having this issue?

There might be an issue with the Server.
    Try this:
Go to Hub -> Click on More in the bottom right corner -> Settings -> EMail Accounts -> Your Account -> Edit Account -> Advanced -> Scroll down to server address change it to outlook.office365.com
    See if this helps
Click on if I helped you. If my response solved your problem.

  • Why are my inbox emails being deleted

I've looked at related posts but none seem to solve this problem: Inbox emails are automatically being deleted. Occasionally a "inbox folder is full" message briefly appears, but before any action can be taken, the emails disappear. Repairing the folder doesn't work and no settings have changed. Recent messages still appear on webmail (Cox). Retention settings are set not to delete mail, and server settings are set to leave messages on server until I delete them.

  • Emails were missing after message

    Hello,
Recently when opening thunderbird the following message appeared: "Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox". Soon after, my Inbox emails were missing. I tried to recover them in every way, without success. What do I do now?
    Thanks.
