Including JSPFs from Java Servlets[Solved]
EDIT:
After reading up a bit more on JSP Fragments I realized that they don't work from a Servlet environment. I should have researched a bit more before posting. By switching the files to JSPs, everything works perfectly.
Original:
Hopefully I can make this post make sense because there is very little code I can post in a public environment like this. Here goes nothing...
I have a Servlet, that includes a JSP file using RequestDispatcher.include(). This JSP works fine, and it gets compiled and shown properly. In this "wrapper" jsp, there are multiple calls to various methods in a class which do things such as printing, and including more jspfs, based on the data stored in an XML file.
For some reason, when including JSPFs from the java methods, the raw JSPF's content is being displayed, rather than a compiled version of the content.
Here is an example JSPF:
<%= "Content Coming from a JSPF" %>Here is the code that includes the JSPF:
this.request.getRequestDispatcher(path).include(this.request, this.response);The JSPF shows up in the right spot and everything, but it's the raw JSPF content, not what it should be showing.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks,

Hi,
I dont think you can directly do this
tagLT %@ include file="/irj/go/km/docs/etc/public/mimes/PMIS/Static%20Contents/sample.html"% tagGT
check what happens if you directly paste this URL in browser.
Instead, you can create a KM Document iView from the HTML and paste the URL of the iView in the JSP. Or the best way is to create a page, assign the iViwe to the page and generate a short URL for the page and have this short URL in your include.
You can check this for short URLs

Return data from Java servlet in form of JSON encoded parameters in Javascr
How to return data from Java servlet in form of JSON encoded parameters in Javascript handler function call?
The same is implemented in php as the following
echo "sT.handleAjaxResponse(";
echo json_encode($response);
echo ");";
How to do the same in Java servlet?
Thanks.With the rising popularity of JSON (especially with Ajax), support for it has started to appear in the Java community. I am not aware of any standardized approach yet, but expect it is likely we'll see that eventually. For now, you probably want to look at a third-party library such as the [JSON in Java Library|http://www.json.org/java/], Jettison, or [Java Tools for the JSON Format|http://jsontools.berlios.de/].

How to Call SQL Loader from Java ( servlet )?
We need to call SQL Loader command from Java Servlets? Any suggestions how this can be done?
Thanks
RahulProbably not the best way, but you could try using JNI to call a C function which then invokes SQL Loader via system() or exec(). I haven't done this myself though...

Help: No Parameters, HTML Output from Java Servlet
I have a Java Servlet that reads parameters passed from an HTML form and displays them to another HTML page. I know the servlet is being invoked; however, I am not seeing any HTML output. Sending the output to a file reveals the parameters are coming in as NULL as well.
I attempted a simple sample app with the same results. Here is what I am running:
The HTML Form:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>Collecting Three Parameters</TITLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY BGCOLOR="#FDF5E6">
<H1 ALIGN="CENTER">Collecting Three Parameters</H1>
<FORM ACTION="ThreeParams">
First Parameter: <INPUT TYPE="TEXT" NAME="param1"><BR>
Second Parameter: <INPUT TYPE="TEXT" NAME="param2"><BR>
Third Parameter: <INPUT TYPE="TEXT" NAME="param3"><BR>
<CENTER><INPUT TYPE="SUBMIT"></CENTER>
</FORM>
</BODY>
</HTML>
The Java Code:
public class ThreeParams extends HttpServlet {
public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request,
HttpServletResponse response)
throws ServletException, IOException {
response.setContentType("text/html");
PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
String title = "Reading Three Request Parameters";
out.println("<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC \"-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 " +
"Transitional//EN\">\n" +
"<BODY BGCOLOR=\"#FDF5E6\">\n" +
"<H1 ALIGN=\"CENTER\">" + title + "</H1>\n" +
"<UL>\n" +
" <LI><B>param1</B>: "
+ request.getParameter("param1") + "\n" +
" <LI><B>param2</B>: "
+ request.getParameter("param2") + "\n" +
" <LI><B>param3</B>: "
+ request.getParameter("param3") + "\n" +
"</UL>\n" +
"</BODY></HTML>");
What happens when I "submit" from the form is the same form reloads with the query string in the URL: "http://localhost:8080/ThreeParams/?param1=1¶m2=2¶m3=3"
Any assistance with either (or both) would be thoroughly appreciated:
a) why the parameters are not being passed correctly to the servlet
b) why the HTML output page is not displayed
Thanks in advance!

Calling a COBOL stored proc from Java Servlet
I am trying to call a COBOL stored proc from a Java Servlet. The stored proc is stored on a DB2 database. I need to send 6 inputs to the COBOL stored proc and the output will be the return code of the stored proc. I'm not sure if I'm going about this the right way. This is how my code looks...
public int callStoredProc(CallableStatement cstmt,
Connection con,
String sYear,
String sReportNbr,
String sSystemCode,
String sUserId,
String sModuleNbr,
String sFormId){
int iParm1 = 0;
try{
Class.forName ("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
catch(ClassNotFoundException ex){
System.out.println("Failed to locate database driver: "
+ ex.toString());
return iParm1;
try{
cstmt = con.prepareCall("{? = CALL MKTPZ90C
cstmt.registerOutParameter(1, Types.INTEGER);
cstmt.setString(2, sYear);
cstmt.setString(3, sReportNbr);
cstmt.setString(4, sSystemCode);
cstmt.setString(5, sUserId);
cstmt.setString(6, sModuleNbr);
cstmt.setString(7, sFormId);
cstmt.execute();
iParm1 = cstmt.getInt(1);
CloseSQLStatement(cstmt);
catch(SQLException ex) {
CloseSQLStatement(cstmt);
System.out.println("SQL exception occurred:" +
ex.toString());
return iParm1;
return iParm1;
Could someone tell me if this is the right way to go about doing this?
Thanks!!!!!!I didn't see the code where you create the database connection (variable "con"). However, the answer to your question "Is this the right way...", for me, is "Anything that works is the right way." So try it. That's a first approximation, but once you have something that works you can start on improving it, if that becomes necessary.

How to get a CA certificate installed in the web trust db from java servlet
Hi all.
Hi, I have a web-app that requires a client certificate from a CA. The CA cert is in the trust db of the webserver. And I would like to get the CA certificate (X509Certificate) corresponding to the issuer of the current client certificate of the request. Is there an easy way of doing this from a java servlet?
I'm using Sun Java System Web Server 6.1
Thanks in advance.Hi, thanks for your quick answer.
I have to check the client certificate revocation status using ocsp protocol. I'm cheking ogro project ocsp library (http://dev.globus.org/wiki/Incubator/OGRO) to check this status against my CA validator agency. In order to use this library in my servlet to check the status I need both the client cert and the issuer cert. So that is why I need to get the CA cert from my trust db.
There is another way, I have the cert as file (the same I used to import the CA cert in my trust db), and I get the cert from the file. With this cert and the cert from the client I do the ocsp request and it works. But I trying to avoid having the CA cert in a file and recover the cert from the trust db.

Calling XSQL from java servlet
I'm able to call XSQL, process the page, and display it. But, how do I set the stylesheet from within my java servlet.
I tried params.put( "xml-stylesheet", "[path to sheet]" ), and then passing that to process(), but it just ignores it. I want to be able to set the stylesheet dynamicaly like when you call XSQL from the command line or from the XSQL servlet.
XSQLRequest req = new XSQLRequest( xsql );
Hashtable params = new Hashtable(2);
params.put( "mths", "6");
params.put( "run_id", "30");
params.put( "grade", "A" );
params.put( "xml-stylesheet", xsl ); <-- just seems to ignore this.
ByteArrayOutputStream ostr = new ByteArrayOutputStream(2048);
req.process( params, ostr, new PrintWriter(System.err) );Thanks for the help Steve (and thanks for a really nice book by the way.)
To answer your first question, I have implemented a report caching servlet. In the application we're writing, reports are generated in HTML or PDF (using XSQL) on demand. However, the data really only changes once a day at most so I wanted to have a way to store the reports once they were generated. So this servlet basically gets the request for a report, checks to see if the report has already been generated and, if not, generates the report using XSQLRequest. Finally it returns the report to the user.
One benefit to doing this is that it masks the generation process from the user (ie, they can just hit a link like http://somehost/path/to/report.pdf and they get a pdf report.) Of course the other benefit is that reports only need to be generated once, reducing server load.
I will definitely try your suggestion and just redirect to the XSQL servlet. I guess I was thinking about it too hard, this is a simple solution which will probably address the problem with a minimum of fuss. ;o) Using XSQLRequest directly works, it's just that I want to be able to reference external images using relative paths... it's funny that relative references to XSL pages works though.
Thanks again,
Van

Invoking BPEL process from Java servlet with org.w3c.dom.Element as payload
Hello,
I'm trying to initiate a BPEL process from my servlet running under Tomcat. When I create the NormalizedMessage passing the XML as a String everything works fine. But if I use an org.w3c.domElement the BPEL server doesn't react at all (even on DEBUG log level there are no outputs).
This works:
NormalizedMessage message = new NormalizedMessage();
message.addPart("payload", "<foo></foo>");
This doesn't work:
org.w3c.dom.Element elem;
oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLDocument xmlDocument;
NormalizedMessage message = new NormalizedMessage();
Element elem = xmlDocument.createElement("foo");
message.addPart("payload", elem);
Is there a known problem with payloads using Element or did I get something completely wrong? Thanks in advance,

Senior Java Web developerHi,
You can try a package named: JTwain, which is available at http://asprise.com/product/jtwain.
JTwain supports all kinds of digital cameras and scanners. You can use Java to access, contorl digital cameras and scanners, and of course, to acquire images with flexible settings.
The developers' guide is available @ http://asprise.com/product/jtwain/devGuide.php
In the simplest case, one line of Java code can solve your problem.
Good luck! -
Problem while Calling a CGI pgm From Java with code sample
Hey guys,
I am calling a CGI program from java servlet, while calling cgi program I am passing encoded(Base64) content via post process,
My problem is the encoded data is not posted as expected, the encoded data is corrupting. But when I send encoded data in a text file, cgi program is perfectly decoding and working fine.
Here I am doing Base64 encoding as per requirement, I cannot avoid this encoding.
My doubt is about OutputStreamWriter constructor argument , In OutputStream Constructor I am passing one argument is OutputStream object and another argument is encoding type. I tried with ASCII, US-ASCII & UTF-8 .
My code is as follows, please help me to resolve this issue.
URL url = new URL("CGI server path");
URLConnection urlConnection = url.openConnection();
urlConnection.setDoOutput(true);
OutputStream os = urlConnection.getOutputStream();
BufferedOutputStream buffer = new BufferedOutputStream(os);
OutputStreamWriter writer = new
OutputStreamWriter(buffer, "US-ASCII");
writer.write(encodedPDF-Content);
writer.write("\r\n");
writer.flush();
writer.close();
here encodedPDF-Content is String and it's size is 9565 bytesWhenever you read something in java into string (with Reader implementation) it expects source to contain text in encoding you specified. It then decodes it and makes 16 bit unicode string from it. Whenever you store string using Writers it does reverse operation with specified encoding (may be different than this which you used to read source) and stores text as a sequence of bytes made of 16 bit unicode string. So, passing text back and forth between programs with the help of files or I/O you can make mistake at both reading and writing encoding. Check for it.
Now, when C programm or other application reads file it may take another assumptions about encoding or may even completly ignore it and read source as a binary file. Then, if you have a source text as a file and have to pass it to other application never do it using Reader/Writer. User raw InputStream/OutputStream instead what will preserve all information unchanged.
here encodedPDF-Content is String and it's size is 9565 byteHow id you get this info? String.length() gets you how many chars is in it, it will be half the number of bytes. If you see your input file beeing 9565 bytes long, see my above statements. -
jsp:include from a Servlet???
Hi guys,
Does anybody know if there is a way of using <jsp:include> from a servlet?? It would save me alot of hassle!!Of course <jsp:include> is a JSP tag so it requires JSP :-).
It is not clear exactly what you want to do, but here is one way to do includes. The JOT Servlets framework (http://www.jotobjects.com)
has a general include mechanism. Here is an example that could be configured with web.xml elements to merge (include) one web page into another without any Java programming:
<html>
<body>
... start of page
JOT.ContentName.Content
<!-- merges content from another file or URL -->
... rest of page
</body>

When Streaming a PDF from a java servlet I get a grey screen on the Adobe Reader X plugin.
I work on a webapp where we serve pdfs to clients by streaming via java servlets. Once we began to use Reader X we noticed that in IE the pdf will load Reader X with a grey screen. Chrome and firefox both work perfectly fine. If we use Adobe 9 it also works fine. We have no control over what our users use so any client side fix is not useful.
We serve these pdfs to our user by opening a popup window to a url that streams the pdf directly to the response. We have noticed that if we have one popup window that has hit the grey screen - each new pdf in a popup works correctly - as long as the original grey screen is up, once all popups are closed the problem happends again. Refreshing the window with the grey screen will also show the pdf correctly.
The problem is very similar to what is described here:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/3335266
However, we are not setting any caching headers - I have full control over what we can send and I have tried the suggestions - nothing works. Any ideas how to resolve this?You are prevented from Airplay mirroring certain things like DVD content as the material is usually protected so you get a checkerboard type display. I think there is a theoretical risk that the Airplay stream could be intercepted and the protected video copied, albeitin lower quality.
Apple may be being cautious or are required to do so with the DVD player app by movie studios/licensing authorities. It makes no sense to the average consumer who is just trying to send their purchased DVD to the TV via the computer and AppleTV.
Playback in something like VLC should work - not tried it myself but others have commented it doesn't have the restriction.
