INCOMPLETE IMAGE CAPTURED

hi! i need help...
i have a code that reads about 30 to 40 textfiles....
plots the data from these textfiles into graphs...
(1 textfile = 1 graph) .... i'm displaying each graph
through a panel... and capturing the image and saving
it to a jpeg file. (1 graph = 1 jpeg) ....
so basically, i'm generating about 30 to 40 graphs
or producing 30 to 40 jpeg files in a single run...
my problem is:
among these 40 image files, i have about 3 to 5 jpeg
files showing an INCOMPLETE image. while the
other files look fine. if i try to run my program again,
a different set of files show incomplete images. it seems that
my program randomly generates incomplete image files.
what can i do about this?? =)

is your code using threading, then use a separate thread for each file
i had similar problem solved it this way
cheers

  • How can I replace a damaged Image Capture in locked Lion Application folder?

I am running a MacBook Air on 10.7.2. Image Capture is "damaged or incomplete" and cannot be opened. I have a copy of IC from my other mac running Lion, but cannot copy it into the Apps folder on my MacBook Air because IC cannot be modified or deleted since it is "needed by Mac OS X." Is there an easy way to unlock the Apps folder? Thanks.

I finally figured out a way to do this. I right-clicked to show the package contents for the corrupted application. Then copied in the contents from a functioning version. Gave administrator permission to make the change. Relaunched the finder and the damaged application was back up and running and no longer greyed out.

  • How to save a scan in Image Capture?

How do I save my scan in image capture?
What option to I go to save it as a JPEG or PNG to my computer?

There's no Save command because Image Capture automatically saves scans when you click the Scan button.
To find the format options, you have to click Show Details at the bottom. This will reveal the save location and format options, including an Overview button so you can test your crop etc. settings before you do the final scan.

This suggestion is not very helpful because this information is very difficult to find in the Help. Image Capture doesn't have a "Save" or "Export" command like most apps do, so anyone trying to find this info in Image Capture Help will be frustrated until they eventually dig down and discover the section "Scan images with a flatbed scanner using detailed options." In fact, if someone searches for the term "save" it doesn't even turn up any results, and "JPEG" or "PNG" only turns up results for the digital camera import part of Image Capture, nothing about scanning.
The Apple help for Image Capture is so incomplete and counter-intuitive that this is one of those times when it's better to answer the question directly then to dump someone into the top level of Help with no guidance.

  • Do I still Need IMAGE CAPTURE?

Not sure this is best place to post--sorry if incorrect.
Do I still need the IMAGE CAPTURE application?
I use OS 10.5 and iPhoto 8. I never download right from my camera--I use a card reader.
    I do use a Canon Multi-Function Scanner/Printer via Canon's software.
I recall the time BEFORE iPhoto when Image Capture was THE way to get photos into my Mac, but unless it is used in the background, I think it has not been used on my MacBook for years.
Thanks for any thoughts from someone desperate to clear up some much-need HD space.

Hi - I think I deleted Image Capture or portions of it when I was trying to clean up my computer - oops. Now I'm realizing that I want to access Image Capture in order to prevent the automatic launch of iphoto when I connect my camera. SO - does anyone know how to reinstall the Image Capture application?
I tried to reinstall the all the applications from my install CD that I received when I bought my computer, but it didn't seem to work - when I try to open my Image Capture application I still receive a message that states:
"You can not open the application Image Capture.app because it maybe damaged or incomplete"

  • Where are temporary files created for "image capture"?

    Hi all
I have been using image capture with no problem whatsoever, until recently. I was scanning a big file and while it was saving it or something I closed the lid of the computer and interrupted the scan. Now the scanner can do a preview but is no longer able to "scan" the file that i see perfectly through preview. I think that the problem is that there is a corrupt temporary file somewhere that needs to be manually deleted. If you know where such files are stored or if you have a better idea, please let me know.

You may be on to the correct solution. I've seen this problem with a big printing job that a user had to cancel and then had to "go in" and delete the print job before they could print again. On the Mac, there is something called CUPS (something Unix Printing System) and it has a role in printing and I believe faxing. It "might" play a role in scanning through Image Capture but I'm not sure. Anyway give it a look and see if there is an incomplete scan job in there that you can delete.
Note: this looks like a website URL but it leads to CUPS on your Mac.
    http://127.0.0.1:631/jobs/
This may not be applicable to scanners but it's worth a look.

  • Using iPhoto or Image Capture to download photos

I'm looking at a new Canon camera and under the Mac compatibility section, the manual says that you can download images from the camera using 1) Image Capture, 2) PTP, or 3) Canon's proprietary software. Does that appear to be saying that you can't just plug in the camera and import photos directly into iPhoto like I can do with my current camera? Or does Image Capture just work as a bridge between the camera and iPhoto more or less transparently? If I do have to use Image Capture for the downloads, then can I take photos from wherever Image Capture puts them and import them into iPhoto using Import to Library?

    William:
Which Canon camera are your looking at? All of the Canons that that shoot RAW formate and are compatible are listed here. All the other Canons are compatible.
IMO it's best to use a card reader and manually import to a folder on the desktop first and then import the folder into iPhoto. You can name the folder with identification of the photos inside and the resulting Event will have the same name. The delete the folder from the desktop and have the camera reformat the card for the next shoot. This saves wear and tear on the camera's port and battery and will avoid the potential upload cancellation due to low battery which can damage the library.
You can do the same thing without a card reader with Image Capture. Whatever you do, DO NOT let iPhoto delete the photos from the memory cards. Too many incomplete or aborted imports and complete deletions reported.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Image Capture Won't Open

Whenever I try to open Image Capture I get the following message: You cannot open the application "Image Capture" because it may be damaged or incomplete.
Any idea where I can download the program? I just checked my most recent backup and it has the same problem. The icon has changed to the generic application program instead of the camera icon.
Thank for any assistance you can provide.

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
    Try deleting this file. com.apple.ImageCaptureApp.plist
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart your Mac and try and launch Image Capture.
If that doesn't work you can reinstall the Image Capture application from your install disk.
Insert the Mac OS X Install Disc and double-click the package that installs bundled software or additional software. A package has an icon that looks like an opened box.
Follow the onscreen instructions. If you see a pane with a Customize button, click Customize and select the application you want to install. If you see a pane that lets you choose what to install, click the disclosure triangle beside Applications and select the application you want to install.
If you can’t find the application you’re looking for, you may need to reinstall Mac OS X. Your documents and user settings will remain.
Insert the Mac OS X Install Disc and double-click the Install Mac OS X icon. In the pane where you select the destination disk, select your current Mac OS X disk, and click Options. Select “Archive and Install” and “Preserve Users and Network Settings.”

  • HELP! I lost my photos between image capture and iPhoto

I move photos from my iPhone to iPhoto with image capture. image capture is set to delete the photos after importing them. I just imported some important photos and after image capture deleted them from my phone I saw a message from iPhoto that there was a problem writing to my library and that the images were not imported. Now they are not in iPhoto and not on my iPhone! Where are they? can I get them back? are they gone for good?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. That's the one primary reason iPhoto should never be setup to delete the photos after import. Too many incomplete or bad imports and complete deletions. Always have the phone do the deletions.
You would have to ask in the iPhone forum for any way to recover deleted photos. If the iPhone can be viewed on the Desktop as an external HD like some cameras you might be able to use a file recovery application designed for memory cards like MediaRECOVER. They probably will have a better idea in the iPhone forum.

  • Canon MP560 no longer recognized by Image Capture/Preview

I have a Canon MP560 wireless printer/scanner and for some reason the scanner can no longer be seen by either Image Capture, Preview, or the Canon mp560 scanner toolbox under the Print menu. This happened either after installing 10.6.5 or after installing the latest Canon Printer Driver updates (I am not sure which caused it, as I did both updates recently...)
It can, however, be seen by MP Navigator 3.0.
Anyone found a fix for this yet?
    thanks

Okay, have done some testing and found some interesting things.
With a new install of 10.6.5 (selecting not to add any printers) I was not able to locate any Canon AIO via wireless. The Default Add Printer pane was empty so it looks like the printer and scanner driver needs to be present on the Mac. For the printer this is understood, as the Canon protocol 'canonijnetwork' is not present in the BJPrinters folder located in Library > Printers > Canon (due to the customized installation the Canon folder was not even present). In checking the Image Capture folder (HD > Library) I also found that the Devices folder was missing. Inside of here you would normally find the Canon IJScanner package/s for a standard installation of 10.6. But with the customized install this package was not present and appears to influence the Mac's ability to 'see' the networked scanner component. To confirm this, I installed the Canon v2.4.1 driver update, which in turn created the Devices folder in Image Capture and consequently made the scanner component appear in the Default Add Printer view.
Another observation was that prior to installing the Canon v2.4.1 update, Image Capture would still display the MP on the network, but under the Shared menu - not the Devices menu. So even without the ICA driver installed nor the MP scanner driver installed, I was still able to use Image Capture to scan a document from the wireless MP. The same was true for Preview in as far as the Networked Scanner selection showed all the MP's present on the wireless network.
At this stage I believe that the Canon driver update you mentioned may have contributed to part, if not all, of your current symptom. The install.log does have a record of what this update installs. If you checked it there may be record of the installer not completing correctly. In any case I assume that for your Mac this update did not complete correctly and is causing the problem. So one suggestion would be to run the [Canon Driver v2.4.1 update|http://support.apple.com/kb/DL899] again (or for the first time if you simply used Software Update previously) to see if this repairs the CanonIJScanner packages.

  • Where did my scanner go? It disappeared from Image Capture

I've been using Image Capture for quite awhile (since HP didn't upgrade their drivers to Lion probably), and suddently, even though my MacBook Pro is on the same wireless network as the printer/scanner (as they have been) the scanner is not showing up in Image Capture. But I can still print. And my dad is still able to scan from his PC to this same scanner. Any thoughts on how I can get it to show up again and start scanning? It's an HP Photosmart C7280.

    Restart the Mac.
Turn off the scanner then turn it back on.
    Launch Image Capture.
Click Shared top left side of the Image Capture window then click Show then click your printer name.
    It should start scanning.

  • Image Capture & Automator to simululate USB reconnect

    Greetings:
I'm trying to force a camera without dedicated tethering software (and that is not supported via Lightroom Tethering) to actually "tether."
I get about 90% of the way there, save for one problem: How can I make Image Capture automatically download a photo each time I take one, without unplugging and replugging the USB cable?
Obviously, I can tell Image Capture to open AutoImporter each time I connect the camera, which automatically downloads new photos in my camera into my Mac (where Lightroom then takes over and "auto imports" these into my Library).
BUT... if I take a new photo, then the only way I've been able to "import" that new photos is to unplug and replug the USB cable. Surely this can be solved by Automator?
I found one Automator action called "Take Picture" that works well with my camera and *almost* does what I want. That is, I can take a picture and it automatically downloads to my Mac. BUT, the problem with this action is it must be initiated from the Mac. That is, the Mac is used to trigger the camera's shutter. I don't want this. I want to trigger the shutter ON THE CAMERA, and have the file automatically download into a specified folder on the Macintosh.
Is there any automator action that will do this?
All I want is to take a picture (using my camera's shutter release) and have it automatically download to the Mac. The closest I've been able to come is to set up Image Capture and unplug/plug the USB cable each time to "trigger" the download. Seems like some bit of software could do this for me?
    Thanks!

  • Image Capture downloads pictures and creates .aae file

Using Image Capture 6.6 to download pictures from my iPhone 5S to Macbook Air w/ OSX Yosemite.
When I go to the folder where I download the files on my computer, it shows a .JPG file and an .AAE file.
I cannot find preferences for Image Capture to turn the additional download off.
It is doubling file size storage on my computer as each picture has a .JPG @ 600KB and an .AAE @ 600K
I have bulk deleted the .AAE files using Spotlight and searching the file type, but do not wish to continue doing this if there is way to turn this off.

Until a better idea comes along use a card-reader to put the files into a folder, then load them into Apex as a second step. This is not as conveneint as loading directly from the camera, but if the interface won't work you'll have to do somethiing else.
I don't have immediate access to Apex - can you load off a card-reader instead of the camera by specifying the drive to load the files from?
It sounds like more of a Windows problem than Apex. Have you tried browser searches on Logitech and Twain to see if anyone has encountered similar problems?

  • Image Capture and Preview "folder not writable" error importing to shared folder

I'm running 10.8.5 on a Late 2012 model Mac Mini. I'm trying to create a folder under my home directory where my wife can import pictures using Image Capture or Preview while logged into her account. I've tried setting permissions on the folder by setting POSIX permissions and ACLs from the command line, and also by setting ACLs using Get Info in Finder, but it seems as though both Image Capture and Preview ignore the ACLs and instead rely solely on the POSIX permissions for everyone/other (even when a relevant group is set). Unless the POSIX permissions for everyone/other are "rwx" Image Capture and Preview both give an error that the import failed, and /var/log/system.log shows errors that the "folder is not writable". I'd like to be able to set this up without making the folder and the files in it writable by everyone. My understanding was that ACLs should take precedence over POSIX permissions, but even the POSIX permissions don't seem to be getting handled properly, because the group is ignored. Any help or explanation of what's happening would be appreciated.
    Here's an example with details:
Suppose we have the users alice and bob. We want to set permissions on the directory /Users/bob/importdir such that Alice can import files from a camera there using Image Capture (or Preview, either would do), but don't want to relax the permissions more than necessary.
We create a group named bob_and_alice
We set the following permissions on /Users/bob:
    POSIX: rwxr-xr-x, owner=bob, group=staff (i.e. default POSIX permissions)
    ACLs:
    0: group:everyone deny delete
    1: group:bob_and_alice allow list,search,readattr,readextattr,readsecurity
    2: user:alice allow list,search,readattr,readextattr,readsecurity
"Get Info" shows "Read & Write" for bob and "Read Only" for alice, bob_and_alice, staff, and everyone
We set the following permissions on /Users/bob/importdir:
    POSIX: rwxrwxr-x owner=bob, group=bob_and_alice
ACLS: (these are already probably more permissive than should be necessary)
    0: group:bob_and_alice allow list,add_file,search,delete,add_subdirectory,delete_child,readattr,writeattr,re adextattr,writeextattr,readsecurity,writesecurity,file_inherit,directory_inherit
    1: user:alice allow list,add_file,search,delete,add_subdirectory,delete_child,readattr,writeattr,re adextattr,writeextattr,readsecurity,writesecurity,file_inherit,directory_inherit
"Get Info" shows "Custom" for both alice and bob_and_alice, "Read & Write" for bob, and "Read Only" for everyone
Alice opens a Terminal and cd's to /Users/bob/importdir. Alice can create and delete files in this directory.
Now Alice opens Image Capture and with our camera connected we try to import a photo to /Users/bob/importdir. Image Capture shows an error dialog with the text "Import error. An error occurred while importing. The item 'foo.jpg' was not imported." /var/log/system.log shows the message: "Jul 20 22:12:34 computer_name.local Image Capture[32804]: Document destination folder is not writable" If instead Alice uses Preview it shows an error dialog with the text "The selected folder is not writable" and /var/log/system.log shows two error messages:
Jul 20 22:23:45 computer_name.local Preview[33280]: Document destination folder is not writable
    Jul 20 22:23:45 computer_name.local Preview[33280]: Encountered error during image import: Error Domain=com.apple.ImageCaptureCore Code=-9934 "The selected folder is not writable" UserInfo=0x7ffda4881f00 {NSLocalizedDescription=The selected folder is not writable}
Now we change the POSIX permissions on /Users/bob/importdir to: rwxrwxrwx
The import succeeds with both Image Capture and Preview
Can anyone explain what's going on here? Is there another reasonable way to do this without, moving this shared directory to /Users/shared?

Did you figure out how to fix this?

  • Why doesn't Image Capture work with document feeders?

I've tried to scan a bunch of different types of documents using Image Capture and my Samsung CLX-3175FW's document feeder (multifunction color laser printer) but every time what gets scanned is a thin vertical slice of each page - completely useless. I don't see any way to force Image Capture to scan at 8.5" x 11" rather than doing whatever it's doing resulting in a thin vertical slice.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks!

Quick update... I've done some troubleshooting and confirmed that when Image Capture scanning via USB and using the document feeder, everything looks great. When the ONLY option I change is printing via wireless, I get the thin vertical slice of each page. I sent some screenshots to Samsung to see if they have any ideas.

  • Unable to delete photos from iPad with Image Capture or PhoneView

I recently downloaded about 50GB of photos to my iPad. They are RAW+JPG. Some of the RAWs are from a new camera that does not have RAW support on the Mac yet.
Using Image Capture I downloaded all the photos to my Mac. They all have the green check-mark next to them indicating they have been downloaded.
After confirming that the images transferred without becoming corrupted, I went back to Image Capture and selected all, then hit the Delete button. I confirmed that I really want to delete them all permanently.
Then a little floating window appears that says "Deleting..." and it stays like that for a long time. Eventually Image Capture simply loses its connection with the Mac and simply leaves this console message:
    5/22/12 10:58:38.494 AM com.apple.launchd.peruser.503: ([0x0-0x91091].com.apple.PTPCamera[9744]) Exited with code: 255
Back on the iPad, I see that some of the JPEG-format photos have been deleted while the RAWs that went with them are still there. Meanwhile for many others, both the RAW & JPEG both still remain.
Any ideas what might cause this? Is it because the Mac doesn't yet have support for the RAW file and therefore doesn't recognize it as an "image" file?
