Inconsistent EPS printing

I have an EPS file from a clip art collection that I placed into AppleWorks and I noticed that it was printing out jaggy (almost like a bitmap). I open the file in illustrator to verify that it was vector (although it's pretty obvious it is when magnified in AppleWorks.)
To verify it wasn't a printer driver problem, I printed other pieces of clip art that have worked fine in the past and they printed smoothly with no problem.
A possible related issue is a piece of clip art in another AppleWorks file. I absent-mindedly ungrouped the picture and when I tried to drag it, a small sliver of the picture dragged over! I dragged around on the picture and I noticed that the whole picture was sliced into sections (almost like a web graphic). When I printed the ungrouped EPS, it printed jaggy. When I closed and re-opened the document without ungrouping the EPS file it printed fine.
So I tried “ungrouping” the original EPS file that I was having jaggy printing from, and the picture flips (mirrors)! But whether flipped or not, it still prints jaggy.

personally i dont have this problem - i use an app print and share which lets me print from the ipad or iphone
and obviously print direct from imac
also if youu bought an airprint printer there shouldnt be a problem, i take it you have compared settings on all devices as well?

Does anyone else have inconsistent wireless printing from macbook pro and iphone?
I can print from my Epson Workforce 545 wirelessly from my PC's fine, my iprint Epson app from my iphone works as well, and to the printer email address but only sometimes from my macbook Pro and iPhone.
On my iPhone and iPad I get "No Airprinters Found" and on my macbook Pro, it says printer not connected and looking for printer.
I can ping the printer IP address and it responds.
I have updated my firmware on my router, printer, mac and looked for Lion updates but nothing helps.  Please help, this is very frustrating, i bought the new printer to use the Airprint capability and wireless printing feature without going thru all the other printing apps etc.
    Thank you

  • PostScript Form question, eps printing

I followed a recipe that lets me put an eps file inline in a PostScript file, and cause the eps file to print by invoking a form.
My problem is that now I want to print the same eps file in several places on one page, and I can't.
It acts like execform only works one time per page.
    Can that be true?
I tested by doing a second translate and execform--I only get the first instance on the page!
Is there a way to reuse a form/eps several times per page?
Seems like showpage must do something to reset/reenable execform?
    /imageBechtel {
    gsave
    -329 50 translate
    IDForm execform
    200 300 translate
    IDForm execform
    grestore
    } bind def

Problem solved, the form does indeed work multiple times on a page.
I had dropped some random code in a crazy place that created one image over and over near the origin, while the real images were actually off the page due to a sign error, and thus invisible.
    Sigh.

  • Inconsistent Color Prints on Epson R2400

Okay, I'm frustrated. I ran out of ink on my epson r2400, specifically light light black and light magenta. I changed cartridges and now the color is off. I haven't changed the profiles or settings and the image is the same (I was printing multiple copies of the same image when I ran out of ink). The prints are much more magenta now . The inks are epson inks, the paper is Costco paper, the profile I got directly from Costco. I ran a nozzle check, and it was fine. The combination worked very well until I ran out of ink.
I contacted Epson, to see if they could explain it or if they ever have ink inconsistencies. They assured me that their ink quality is perfectly consistent. Therefore, they said, the problem must be with the paper or my settings in Photoshop.
Has anyone experienced a color shift simply from changing cartridges before? Any suggestions on what might have happened within Photoshop to cause such a problem? Any suggestions at all?
    Thanks,
    Steve

Thanks for the latest tips, though the problem has been solved!!
I ran through the light magenta cartridge in question making a lot of color prints where the match wasn't critical. I replaced the cartridge with another epson light magenta and printed the same photo that initially caused my concern. Amazingly it is back to where it belongs, identical to the prints I printed before I made the last cartridge change.
Therefore, in my opinion, the cartridge was indeed the culprit. Surprising yes, disappointing yes, rare yes, but it really, truly did happen.
I've always been a fan of epson, but it sure is infuriating when a manufacturer places the blame on someone else and refuses to even consider that the fault could possibly be in their own quality control.
Though I will most likely stick with epson when I eventually search for another printer, I may now entertain other brands. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Steve

  • Color inconsistency when printing

I have an Epson 1400 printer.  Sometimes I can have good prints and other times they look bad.  I have found that Epson only likes Epson paper and inks, but there still is a problem.
I use PSE8 and if I do just the opposite of what Adobe advises, I print fine and almost any paper.  I have to shut off the PSE color management and use the printers.  Am I doing something wrong or do I just not understand all the stuff in PSE.  Appreciate any help.

First, make sure you have the Epson printer-paper profiles downloaded into your computer. The chances are good that they are because when you downloaded the printer driver, the profiles should have also loaded.
Second, in the PSE Editor, make sure you have a photo displayed that you want to print. Then, in the File menu, select Print. In the box that comes up, select More options....Then, select Color Managment. In the box to the right, in Color Handling:, select Photoshop Elements manages color. In Printer Profile: select the type of paper you're using, such as PremiumGlossyPhotopaper. This should follow the name of your printer, so one of the many choices should read something like Stylus Photo 1400 printer, PremiumGlossyPhotopaper. If you don't see your paper, then you'll need to download their profiles, either from the CD-ROM that came with your printer or from Epson's website. Assuming that you found your paper, next go to Rendering Intent: and select Relative Colorimetric. Next, click on Printer Preferences, which takes you to the printer's dialog box. Once there, select the paper you're using, such as Premium Photo Paper Glossy. Finally, be sure that No Color Adjustment or ICM appears in one of the settings boxes. Now try printing and see what happens.
The chances are good that the colors will be pretty close to what you see on your monitor, but the print may be too dark or too light (usually too dark). What you need to do next is calibrate your monitor. Perhaps the cheapest way is to buy Pantone's Huey Pro for about $90. It's a little spectrometer that you stick on your monitor and, when you activate the accompanying Huey software, it automatically makes the monitor accurately display the colors. You have to manually adjust brightness and contrast using little comparative circles that Huey displays on the monitor. Unfortunately, with today's LCD monitors, this can be pretty hard to do. However, you should be able to get into the ballpark and you can hone in of the correct brightness and contrast adjustments by making several prints until you get one that's pretty close to what you see on the monitor.
Hope this helps. Maybe someone else can chime in with a simpler explanation; I'd love to see one.

  • [FIX] Darker prints and color shifts when printing from Lightroom 2

    Hi,
    The problem :
When printing RAW or TIFF files from LR2, you get a printer output that
is much darker than it should be and that presents various color shifts.
I'm using an Epson Stylus Pro 3800 with the latest Windows driver
(6.50 - which is rather old by the way). The workaround described below
works for me under Windows XP SP3. It should also probably work with
other systems/printers/drivers. Use at your own (minor) risk.
The "official" procedure for printing from LR is as follows:
    1. Do not let the printer manage colors and select "Other..." from the
profile dropdown list and select the ICC/ICM paper/printer profile that
    you want to use.
    2. Click on Print... in LR which opens the Print Settings dialog.
    3. Select the options you need and the paper you're using.
    4. **Disable the color management from the driver's side** (in Epson's
drivers, "Mode | Custom | No Color Adjustments").
    5. Print
Unfortunately, **this doesn't work** for many of us and this produces a
print that is dark and has color shifts as mentioned above. Note that
the same image prints correctly from QImage or Photoshop CS3 (that is,
the printer output corresponds to what you see on your calibrated
    display).
Apparently, although color management has been (allegedly) disabled in
the driver, there's something wrong between LR and the driver which
makes that *both* LR and the driver are still trying to manage colors.
In other words, the "No Color Adjustements" option of the driver doesn't
    seem to work with LR.
The workaround (found after hours of hair pulling and paper and
    expensive ink wasting):
    In step #4,
    1. Instead of selecting "No Color Adjustments", set Mode to "Custom |
    ICM
    2. Click Advanced...
    3. Check "Show all profiles".
    4. Select Driver ICM (Advanced)"
    5. Set **both** the "Input profile" and the "Printer profile" fields to
the very same profile that you specified in LR.
That is, if you specified Pro38 PGPP (Premium Glossy Photo Paper) in LR,
then also select Pro38 PGPP in both "Input Profile" and "Printer
Profile". This has actually the same effect has disabling color
management in the driver (what "No Color Adjustements" should normally
    take care of).
That's it. When printing, you'll get exactly the same color results as
when printing from QImage or Photoshop. No more dark prints. No more
    color shifts.
One might think that the bug is in the Epson driver but in that case,
QImage would have the very same problem. So I tend to think that the bug
    is on the Lightroom side.
Note: Although Photoshop CS3 produces a correct printer output, it
demonstrates the same problem as LR when using the "Match Print Color"
option for soft proofing. But in that case, only the preview colors are
wrong. The printer output is ok. Which also tends to demonstrate that
Adobe has the problem, not Epson. Or maybe both... :-) .
Don't ask me why some users have the problem and other don't.
    Hope this helps.

A sincere thank you for your reply, Michael. Sorry about the "it just doesn't make sense" shortcut. I have been trying to solve this issue since LR 1.1, spending dozens of hours on different trials and digesting everything written on this forum and the B9180 forum about color management and double profiling. My shortcut was a summation of my experience (and my frustration) but doesn't really advance the conversation. Here are some data that should be more useful in diagnosing the problem.
I am running Windows XP SP2. I calibrate my monitor monthly with the Spyder. The reason I suspect this may be an issue of double profiling is because the results (moderately strong magenta overlay plus an increase in contrast) match what more knowledgeable people than I on this forum describe when double profiling occurs. Perhaps I shouldn't presume it is double profiling, and follow Patrick Philippot's lead in naming the problem "color shifts." Patrick does refer in post #2 of this thread, however, to obvious double profiling.
I certainly do have a successful and consistent print method. With PS CS3, and either my Epson 1280 or my HP B9180, the output is almost always dead on. Here is how I do it. In PS from the print dialog box, under color handling I always choose "Photoshop manages colors." Then under printer profile I select the profile designated by the manufacturer for a particular paper/printer combination. Then in the printer driver I disable printer control of color. With the Epson I check the box "Off (No Color Adjustment)." With the B9180 I choose the option "Application Managed Colors." While I sometimes may tweak the final output, these procedures have served me well with PS for several years.
Contrasted with my positive PS experience, my experience with LR printing has been inconsistent. I regret having to be so imprecise but truly sometimes LR produces accurate results that match the calibrated monitor, but most of the time it does not. I use standard procedures with LR that parallel the PS ones described above. In LR's printing panel, under color management, I specify the correct profile, just as I did for PS. Then in the printer driver I use the same procedures I use with PS. Most of the time the prints have the magenta overlay and too much contrast.
BTW, the inconsistent LR printing only takes place with my HP B9180. I have never had any problem with off-color LR prints with my Epson 1280. Again, I emphasize that I have standard procedures that always work with PS (no matter which printer) and LR (but only with the Epson).
Unfortunately the LR printing problems are intermittent. Some of the time (perhaps 20%) LR produces fine prints in the B9180, indistinguishable from PS prints. When LR is printing well, it will continue to print fine until "something happens" and the output shows the color shift. This means I do not get a random sequence of good-bad-good-bad prints, but rather good-good-x factor-bad-bad-bad. Ths problem is that I do not know what this "x factor" is. Once, when LR was giving me accurate output, I simply changed the default printer (Control Panel-Printers and Faxes) from the B9180 to my Samsung 1430 laser; immediately afterwards the LR output colors shifted. Did LR react to this change in default printers? Another time I had good LR printing success with version 1.2 but ran into the problems described above when I upgraded to version 1.3.
Sorry for the long post. I am hoping that someone will see something that I am missing and provide a hint. I think, though, that Patrick is correct when he states, "I tend to think that the problem is with LR. After all, similar issues (obvious double profiling) are observed only in LR but with various printers."

  • Spot Color mismatches between EPS and PDF files

Recently I created a file in Illustrator CS6 with several Pantone color swatches. I used the CMYK color mode set to the Coated GRACoL 2006 color space. I saved the file as an EPS and we printed our test samples on our large format printer. After reviewing the print I saw the colors were off. The grey color showed up green.I then opened up the exact same EPS file and simply saved it as a PDF. We ran the PDF on the same printer, using the same material and profile and the color was completely different. This time the grey colors came out grey (correctly). We tested this twice and came up witht he same color differences between the EPS files and the PDF files. Why would an Illustrator file produce 2 different colors if saved as a PDF versus an EPS?
Also, I sent these files to another prepress person in our company and he printed them on our proofing printer. The EPS printed slightly differently than the PDF. He then opened the PDF file in Acrobat and saved it out of Acrobat as an EPS. After this, he printed the new EPS file created from Acrobat and it printed the exact same as the PDF file (correctly).
This leads me to believe that the problem is in the way Illustrator saves EPS files. Has anyone else seen this problem?
Thanks for any and all help with this very perplexing issue.

    I will speak from CS3.
The current PDF format if 1.7 exported out of Photoshop supports vector elements as independent objects, but you can't edit them correctly out of Acrobat because Photoshop reads the data as a flat file and drops the vector data. Basically the workflow is not finished being developed. Also, Transparency is broken within the PDF file format at this time. It will support Spots though correctly.
PSD and TIF support Transparency and Spots, but vector objects are rasterized due Acrobat reading the flat version of the file.
When Photoshop wrote its own PDF format and not the corporate PDF flavor that we now have, PDF's would support Transparency correctly.
I would assume that Transparency and vector objects would be addressed in the next release, but that is to be seen.
There is no best practice except don't do it.

  • Save as eps in binary language

I need to save as eps from Illustrator in Binary, noy in ASCII.
    Can you help me, please?
    Thanks

A proper EPS printer or application is required to handle both types without problems, so it shouldn't matter how it's encoded. Anyway, your best bet is to use a generic PostScript printer driver. It seems that newer versions of Adobe programs only support their own specific flavor and have ceased support for the legacy EPS format.

  • Mac / CS4 Photoshop to 4525 prints jargon.

    Hi,
We are having inconsistent problems printing to our networked HP 4525 printer from Osx 10.6.6 using Photoshop CS4.
We have upgraded the printer firmware to Dec 27th 2010 and using HP Mac printer drivers 2.5.2
The printer will work most of the time but occasionally will spool out endless pages of jargon / junk / postscript. The only way to stop this is to take the power out of the printer for a few minutes.
When printing sometimes we see the error %bad bounding box% seen but this does not necessarily result in jargon being printed.
Does anyone have any ideas what else we can try to fix this or having this problem themselves?

    Hi Dave
Thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately our Windows system is tied to the HP Universal Driver so I don't think there is any likelihood we could change that

  • Want to attach files in while creating an order (VA01)

    Hi All,
Can you please let me know what settings can be done to enable us to attach files while creating the sales orders (VA01).
I know that if i add the "SD_SWU_ACTIVE" to the user profile than i can do the same in VA02 & VA03 but i want these option in VA01 also.
Also i just wanted to know the "Printer" icon in the main screen of VA01will print the screen or will print the output? Also currently i see its greyed out,how can we activate that too........
    Thanks in advance......

What if in VA01, after attaching and entering the details, user just come out of screen and don't save? Not sure what is the purpose of this inconsistency?
printer icon? You mean Menu->System-List ->print?
This works only if you have a list displayed on your screen.

Anybody know what the error message is trying to say?

    Hi RogerBeagle,
I hate to hear you are having issues.  It appears you may have an issue with your system files or settings.  There are several reasons this error occurs such as corrupt windows files or system file mismatches.  Have you recently changed any settings regarding themes or sound settings? Please see the below steps that may resolve the issue.
    Start here:
    1. Change system sound settings-under user account control set sound to "none"
    2. Change the theme to "default" if it has been set to another theme
You can also run a SFC scan from the command prompt, which will repair or delete corrupt files.  I suggest trying the previous steps first as deletion of certain files may cause loss of data.  Please see steps below for system file check scan.  Here is a 3rd party link that covers this process in detail-HP and I are not responsible for the content of this site. Click Here
    1. Open command prompt- type CMD in search/run
    2. In the command prompt type sfc/scannow

  • OSS NOTES 322526???

Can anybody send me the oss notes 322526.

    Summary
    Symptom
Workflow is not working as you expect.
    Other terms
workflow, BBP, Business to Business Procurement, CRM, SWUD, OOCU, SWEL, SWI1, SWO1, PFTC, SWUS, SWUE, event, event log,
    Reason and Prerequisites
This note contains transactions and techniques that will help you
understand and analyze your workflow problems.
    Transaction SWUD
SWUD is the diagnosis transaction. This will guide you through the fault finding process. The check-list order is determined dynamically according to:
    a) your workflow definition and
    b) the statistics of the most common mistakes made when creating/activating a workflow.
The testbed, provides a launchpad for tests to ensure that your workflow definition is rugged enough for the production environment. It also allows you to access the tasks, subflows, object types, delegated object types and agent assignments directly, without going through the workflow builder first. (Foreground tasks with no agent assignment are marked in red from release 4.5 onwards). This list is also useful as a catalogue of the components of workflow for documentation or transport purposes.
Click on the "info" icon to read a description of the test being performed.
Any workflow accessed through this transaction is added to the last-used list. The workflow can be recalled at a later date by clicking on the reuse icon in the left-hand column of the last-used list.
The next section describes the transactions called from SWUD. Experts may find it easier calling them directly.
    Secondary Diagnosis Transactions
    Transaction SWU3: Verify Workflow Customizing.
In this transaction the most important basic customizing for workflow is checked. If you find any errors here, read the documentation for the error. If your system is BBP or CRM, see note 60801.
    Transaction SWEL: Event Log.
Note: Before you can use the event log, you must make sure it is activated. You check this in transaction SWELS. If you are not sure whether or not it is active, just deactivate and activate the event log once.
WARNING: An activated event log can lead to bad performance, and must not be activated constantly in a productive system.
    Transaction SWE2: Event type linkage
A workflow is usually started or triggered by an EVENT so it is important to make sure that an event occurrs. In the event log you can see the event and its business object type.
If an event has been successfully created, it is important to check if there is a receiver type for this event. The receiver type is the workflow that has been triggered by the event.
The coupling between an event and the receiver can be maintained in trans. SWE2.
    Transaction SWU0: Event simulation
If you have found NO receiver type in the event log, then you should check transaction SWU0, Simulate Events.
In this transaction you can simulate an event. The system will check all workflows that could be triggered by the event and tells you whether or not they were triggered. Information is displayed for the workflows that were not triggered successfully.
    Transaction SWI1: Work item list
If a workflow was been correctly triggered and started at least one WORK ITEM should be created. You can view the work items in transaction SWI1, Work Item Selection.
The easiest way for the selection is just to go into this transaction after you have checked the event log. By default all the work items of the last hour will be displayed.
You will find in this transaction the work item number, the status of the work item and the workflow task that has created the work item. Furthermore, (in the technical workitem display) you can have a look at the container by selecting a work item and using the menu GOTO -> CONTAINER. To display the work item details double click on the item. From the details you can see the selected/ possible/excluded agents for this work item by using the menu GOTO -> AGENT -> SELECTED/POSSIBLE/EXCLUDED AGENTS.
When the status of the work item shows an error you should have a look at the workflow log using the menu EDIT -> DISPLAY WORKFLOW LOG. Here you can see errors that have occurred.
    Transaction PFTC/SWDD: Task editor/Workflow Builder
If you want to have a look at the definition of the workflow you can use transaction PFTC, Maintain Tasks.
The button WORKFLOW BUILDER brings you to a graphical display of the workflow structure which is fairly easy to read and understand. On the tabstrip TRIGGERING EVENTS you can check if the triggering is activated or not and deactivate/activate it by clicking on the icon in front of the event.
    Transaction OOCU: Customizing overview
To check if the relevant tasks are activated and users are assigned, you can use transaction OOCU; Task Customizing Overview.
In this transaction all the tasks are sorted by the application components and are thus easy to find. Note that if you have almost no entries in this transaction, you should execute  the report RS_APPL_REFRESH in transaction SE38.
    Transaction SWUE/SWUS: Event/workflow trigger
If you have activated a user exit, e.g. for the role determination, and you have problems with that, you most probably have to debug the workflow. This can be done using the transaction SWUS or SWUE.
With SWUE you can create an event. After you entered object type and event you have to fill the event parameters and the key for a specific object. If you want to debug the workflow you have to set the flag TRIGGER RECIEVER FM SYNCHR. If you have set a break point in your user exit or in any other function module of the workflow the system will stop at this break point and you can start analyzing.
The second possibility to debug a workflow is to use the transaction SWUS, the workflow test environment. In this transaction you have to enter the workflow task and fill the input data. Please use the F4-help to fill the input data. Here again you have to set a break point in your user exit or in any other function module of the workflow and then the system will stop there.
Summary of the manual alternative to SWUD
Now that you have a better understanding of how to use these transactions, you can follow the steps below to quickly analyze your workflow problems:
    1. Go to transaction SWU3 and check if everything is okay. If it is not, please fix it before you proceed.
    2. Go to transaction SWEL and check if an event is created. If not, check in transaction SWELS if the event log is activated.
If you see an event but no workflow is triggered, proceed with step 3.
If you see an event and a workflow is triggered, but the status of the triggering shows an error, proceed with step 3.
If you see an event and a workflow is triggered and there is no error, proceed with step 4.
If the event log is activated and you do not get any event, open up a message using the component of the application to which the business object type belongs. From release 20C for creation of shopping carts
the architecture of workflows changed and no events are visible!
    3. Go to transaction SWU0 and simulate the event. Is the workflow that you expect to be triggered visible in the simulation?
If it is not, then check the workflow definition in PFTC. The event must be defined as triggering event.
If it is, but the event linkage is not activated, go to transaction OOCU and activated it.
If it is visible, but it is not activated, go to transaction PFTC and activate it.
    4. Go to transaction SWI1. Search for the work item that belongs to the workflow. Check the status of the work item.
If it shows an error, look at the workflow log. Do you see any errors? If yes, you can probably find a solution in the SAPNet Frontend. (Tips and tricks on how to search for information and solutions in the SAPNet Frontend can be found in note 192194.) If you do not find any help in the SAPNet Frontend, please open up a message with the component BC-BMT-WFM and tell us the number of the error message and the name of the workflow.
    Solution
If you can not solve your issue with these hints, please open up a
message with the component of the application of the workflow (can be
seen in the transaction PFTC on the first screen). Please include the
results of the steps 1 to 4, which will help us a lot to analyze your
    issue.

We have also recently encountered the problem that our client export the invoice to Acrobat and then print it.  However, it displays properly for workstation with  Acrobat version 8, 9, but missing lines for version 7.
Another scenario could be the form is displayed properly on the screen, but the physical print out to a printer is not consistent.
We really appreciate some share of thoughts here.  Is switching to other report writer, eg: Crystal Report, the only option?

    Gordon,
    Thanks for replying.
This is what happen to our client.
The font size of the customised PLD SAP Invoice is size 5.  In order to preview the layout, they have to preview in PDF, once they are happy with the details and then print.
In some workstations, there are Adobe Reader version 8 or 9.  In a couple of workstations, there are Adobe Acrobat version 9.
Let's say, there are 2 fields with the following properties:
    Field A, Left = 0, Width = 10.
    Field B, Left = 10, Width = 10.
Adobe Acrobat version 9 display the border of the field properly.  However, those with Adobe Reader 8 / 9 will see gaps between fields.
    If we change them as follows the field the gap;
    Field A, Left = 0, Width = 10.
    Field B, Left = 9, Width = 11,
Then those with Adobe Acrobat version 9 is missing the border for because Field A overlaps with Field B.  But Adobe Reader 8/9 will print fine.  It also works fine if user click 'Print Preview' as normal and then click 'Print'
Does anyone knows whether this inconsistencies is caused by
    - printer drivers; or
    - Adobe; or
    - SAP Business One.

  • Inconsistent Printing to a Shared Printer

I'm having a problem printing to a shared printer. My computer is a MacBook Air on Lion. The computer where the printer is shared from is a Mac Pro on Snow Leopard. It's a Brother Laser Printer HL-1440.
I'm connected to the same ethernet as Mac Pro. The printer is connected via USB.
I have been able to print before but going forward the ability to print is inconsistent. Sometimes I can see the printer when trying to add it in Print & Scan and sometimes I can't. I deleted the printer trying to troubleshoot. When it does show up, I sometimes get the error "The printer is not connected".
Any and all suggestions would be most helpful. Thank you!

  • Error Message:Can't print illustration. Color Management systems inconsistent.

I am getting this error message, "Can't print illustration. Color management systems are inconsistent." I just upgraded to CS5(from CS2) on a Dell Studio using an Epson WorkForce 1100 or an Epson Sylus NX400. I am a rank amateur in AI & have no idea how to fix this. I do not seem to have the option to turn off color management in either of my printers to default to AI. All I am trying to print are some labels using regular fonts and a few smoke brushes for color. These are not wildly colorful or complicated. I KNOW I should be using a Mac but I do not have one...sigh...
    Thanks for ANY help.
    Marion.

not sure I understand the core problem...but what happens if you Save As "Adobe PDF" and Convert to your Print Space there in Output (then print from Acrobat or place in InDesign, heck maybe even open the .pdf in Ai and try again):
