Inconsistent font behaviour between reflow and chrome

Having seen previous threads regarding inconsistent font behavior caused by copied and pasted text containing hidden styling tags, I tried to find a way of quickly stripping out the tags.
Copied client text from word.
Used paste special - text only - to drop text into Dreamweaver CC design view. Entered code view and deleted invisible tags. Copied text from code view and pasted into Edge Reflow.
Styled text in Reflow - paragraph breaks, shift returns and emboldened headings. Saved and previewed in Chrome - still not showing bold headings (arial).
So, deleted text box in reflow, and redrew. Switched to Dreamweaver and copied text from code view with <p> and <br> tags as needed.
Returned to reflow and pasted into text box. Immediately black screen and no way to do anything. Had to force quit and restart from saved reflow project file.
Same thing happens upon repeating.
What can I do to get the reflow typography to preview properly in chrome? Really frustrated by this issue.
Many thanks in advance for any suggestions...

Thanks very much for this bug. I can reproduce it on my end. I've filed it for our team to take a look at.
I'll try and update if we find a fix.

  • Font sizes between  Photoshop and Edge - Any Accurate conversion table?

I have been trying to make sense of the font sizes between  Photoshop and Edge. It seems that the conversion tables I have found do not actually give the right numbers and I am wondering if there is a table from Adobe that would make it easy to have the right size rather than an approximation.
I prefer to use text in Edge rather than Photoshop for many different reasons one being dynamic text.
For example a font in Photoshop in a 780 x 475 image is 8pt - In Edge, according to conversion tables it should be 11 px but it is totally wrong. It needs to be closer to 30 px to be about the same.
So, Adobe Team, any documentation on that?

By the way, I have to correct the numbers but they still do not make too much sense. The artist gave me a 300 dpi file so of course the px size what wrong. After converting the file to 72 dpi, the font size happens to be 33.33 pt or 40 px which is now way too big in Edge.  It looks like the size my just be the same 33.33 pt would be 33.33 px. Is this correct?

  • Applet font problem between linux and windows

I just want to share my experience in several project i've taken part.
In some projects, where all are developed under linux environment (suse 9.2),
we use jasper report for report generation and use the web applet for our clients to print.
They print ok in linux env, with the netscape 7.1, courier 10 font and jvm 1.4.2_06b version.
But when accessed from windows env, with the same browser and the same jvm version, the applet and the print out are different from those of lin env. The headers and footers are missing. When the we edit/lower the header and footer size at the jasper report file, then they appears @ the window env.
So strange that the font handling between win and lin differ (still my assumption). I'vent been able to solve this problem totally since the client must stick with one OS else the print out will be different.
Quite dissatisfied, coz i really think i could code once the report and run it anywhere in the applet and behaves in the same way.
    Could anybody help ? T-T
    Regards,
    Albert Gan

    hi!
this is my first post and i would like to ask if how did you create the web applet printing. im totally new to java and i dont know where to start.
i hope that you can guide me or give me some instructions. thanks in advance =)

  • Data Inconsistency for 0EMPLOYEE between ECC and BI

    Hi,
We do a full load to 0EMPLOYEE using 0EMPLOYEE_ATTR from ECC. There were records deleted for lot of employees (some action types) in ECC. This has caused data inconsistency for 0EMPLOYEE master data (time-dependent) between ECC and BI. In BI we have more records for these employees (Additional records have time-dependent range that were deleted from ECC but still exist in BI). These employee records are already being used in lot of InfoProviders. Is there an efficient way to fix this issue? One of the solution is to delete data from all InfoProviders and then delete from Master data for 0EMPLOYEE, but the deletion of employee records can happen quite often, so we don't want to take this route. Also, I tried to re-organize master data attributes for 0EMPLOYEE through process chain, but that didn't work either.

    Hi Ripel,
I share your pain. This is one of the real pains of Time-Dependant master data in BW. I have been in your exact position and the only way round the issue for me was to clear out all the cubes that used 0EMPLOYEE and then delete and re-load 0EMPLOYEE data.
I know this responce doesn't help you but at least you are not alone.

  • Font differences between Arch and Fedora (Hyperworks)

Anyone in Arch land running Altair Hyperworks?  I know that it is supported only on Red Hat Enterprise or SUSE Enterprise, but I believe that it will run on Fedora as well, so I thought I'd give it a whirl on Arch.  It seems to have an issue with missing (or not finding) fonts.  As far as I can tell, I have all the same fonts on my Arch install as I did in Fedora.  I'm guessing that this is due to differences in the way the font folders are laid out between Arch and Fedora.  Anyone got any suggestions before I go randomly poking around in /usr/share/fonts?

Sorry for bringing back old post.
But have you or anyone had any suggestions to run Altair Hyperworks on Arch?

  • Different texte layout between firefox and chrome ?!

  • NPAPI difference between Firefox and chrome

    Hi,
    I'm writing some plugin; I got Gesko SDK from mozilla site; After build it successfully loaded and working on Firefox;
    I tried to load and execute it with chrome; I found that chrome cannot load plugin; After some debugging I found that plroblem in function table structures - size of structures is not the same in firefox and chrome;
    Additional search bring me to a difference - it is in alignment; Firefox and Gesko using 32 bit alignment/packaging, and chrome use 8 bit alignment/packaging;
    So, my questions are:
-is it bug of chrome or firefox?
    -when will it be fixed?
-I did not work with chrome previously; from when is this build difference?

This forum is geared toward Firefox end user support, not toward developers, so you may not get an answer from anyone who knows exactly what you are talking about. Not to sound rude, but if your plugin is working in Firefox, but not in Chrome wouldn't it make sense to ask a Google support forum about your Firefox plugin not working in Chrome?
As far as 8-bit vs. 32-bit, AFAIK 8-bit operating systems and programs date back like 20 years, so I doubt if Google is using 8-bit in its' plugins. But that would best be addressed by someone familiar with Chrome development and plugins.

  • Font Compatibility between FCP and Adobe After Effects

    Hello.
I've got an issue with my fonts...
    I've got 4 places where I can put them (Library/Fonts ; System/Library/Fonts ; Users/Library/Fonts ; Network/Library/Fonts (a network Library I made working with a SAN)).
    I've got at least 4 kind of fonts (DFONT:Datafork TrueType font ; FFIL:Font Suitcase ; OTF:OpenType font ; TTF:Windows TrueType font).
I'm working with networked home directories.
My question is : What I have got to use for my fonts been recognised In both Final Cut Pro and After Effects (Adobe software in general).
With all of my 4 folders I've got about 100 fonts. In FCP an AFX I can see about 35 fonts and only 27 in common. This 27 are in differents folder and are different type.
    I'm getting mad.
    Help me

Of course I should, but the shared Library is made for "I put a font in one place and it can be used by anyone of my network".
It doesn't matter, I found the answer myself. The TTF one works, but the name isn't the same : In Apple world, the font got the font's file's name, in Adobe's world, the font got the font's family's name + font's style (like bold) (and both can't be change...)
    Thx
    Bye

  • Fonts different between CS3 and CS5 on Win7 system using the same fonts directory

I have several files created in Fireworks CS3 that work fine. Fonts are all  installed in the system directory on my Win7 box.  This used to be a WinXP Pro  box.
I can load a file into Fireworks CS3 without a single issue and the text all  looks perfect. The way it should.  Close CS3, open CS5 and load the same file  and CS5 tells me I have to update my fonts.  Why?  Same system, same fonts in  the same fonts directory. Only thing that's changed is that I'm opening the  file(s) in CS5.
The fonts do not look the same in CS5.  Am I going to have to redo every  Fireworks CS3 file so that it looks correct in CS5? If so, why?
    -- Bob
Here's a sample image the way it's supposed to look. The Swift gets hosed. PlazaDUtil is the font. I'd hate to have to redo all my logo files.

Prior to CS4 Fireworks used the Macromedia type engine. From CS4 forward, adobe introduced the adobe type engine to improve text handling/integration between FW AI and PS. As a result moving CS3 files over to cs4 forces FW to update the fonts.

  • Fonts change between preview and full view.

Hello.  I'm running into an issue where a font appears differently between iBooks Author and my iPad.  I'm using Impact 96pt, and it shows up properly on my iMac and in the mini-preview screens on my iPad, but when I open the page to full view on my iPad, it switches to Arial 96pt.  The only other place this font appears in the iBook is in the TOC when in portrait view.  Everything else is formatted to styles I custom created.  Any ideas on how to fix this style/formatting bug?  And/or any ideas on how to change the font style of the portrait TOC?

K T, thanks for taking a look. That's the weird thing.  Impact does show up on my font list, iBA lets me use it in creating styles, and Impact font text appears properly on the iBook's cover.  For now I'll just drop in this text as an image, but any ideas on how to keep it as a proper font would be greatly appreciated.

  • Seal Between Glass And Chrome Is Peeling Back...

I noticed this morning as I was keeping my iPhone nice and shiny with the provided cleaning cloth that the rubber seal between the glass and the chrome accent is slightly starting to peel back on the bottom left corner...
It's only minor right now but if you gently run your finger over the imperfection the rubber shifts out of place every time...It's an issue that I think will only worsen with time I'm sure...Not to mention the imperfection is aesthetically unpleasing now that I've noticed it...
Is this something that the Apple Store would be willing to fix/replace under warranty and has anyone else had this issue?
    Thanks!

Outfitting your phone with a case should not be a solution. As much as I respect peoples decision to use a case; iphone, ipod, I find it funny to hear them talk about how beautiful the ipod is yet their player looks like <edited by host>. I mean, you don't see BMW drivers driving around with car covers, do you? You lose the aesthetic beauty of the product. Just a personal observation. Peace.

  • Different behaviour between IE6 and IE on opening Office documents via KM

    Hi all,
we're in the process of rolling out Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) and noticed something unexpected when opening non-html documents from a KM navigation iview. When clicking on the links in the ivew the documents are all opened in a new window because the hyperlink / href contains "target=_blank". When the document itself is for instance an Excel document, the browser will ask wether you want to open the document or not. When you choose to open the document, Excel launches and the blank IE6 window is closed in the background. When the user is done with the document he or she will return to the portal screen.
This nice behaviour does not occur with IE7. The blank window remains open so when the user closes the Office document they are looking at an empty IE7 screen.
Is there any way to fix this by customization or even by code change? It seems to me that this is more a SAP issue because for all HTML pages and for all documents that have IE plugins such as PDF'syou want to open a new window but for the others you want only the application to be lauched, not an empty IE.

The resource rendering parameter rndOpenTargetType does not seem to help see [Help.sap.com|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/87/3d48475ee8bd448c4031aa98d90524/frameset.htm]

I found the solution on another site, superuser.com, so I can't claim the solution as my own, but it worked for me. Kent Ng says:
I face the similar issue with Excel 2003. If you have installed Skype-Click-to-Call, just removed it to resolve this issue.

  • Difference in font rendering between 8 and 9

I've got a PDF that appears differently in Acrobat 8 and Acrobat 9. In Acrobat 8 there are fonts that have remapped to the "undefined" character - boxes instead of letterforms. In Acrobat 9 the file looks correct. "Use local fonts" is turned off in both versions.
My RIP rendered the PDF as it appeared in Acrobat 8.
I've my system fonts pared down to the minimum. In Acrobat 9 I can even convert the font to outlines (via PitStop). Anybody got any idea where Acrobat 9 is pulling these fonts from? The fonts in question on this file are ArialNarrow-Bold, ArialNarrow-BoldItalic, and TimesNewRomanPS-BoldMT.

Use getFont() on each to the comonents to make sure they are using the same font.

  • Text font changes between iphone and Outlook?

Make a simple correction/addition in the text field of a Contact or Appointment on the iPhone. For example, add the word TEXT at the of the text body page. The change displays on the iPhone in the same font, point, color and spacing as that of the existing text below the newly added test word.
However, once synced through the Exchange mail server (and on the server the TEXT sample remains the same as that of the other text) and back to the desktop MS Outlook, the font, point, color changes. What was Calibri Body, pt 11, color black on the phone, is now an off blue, Calibri 13 header on the desktop Outlook form.
What is controlling this change? Naturally, I want the font/point/color to remain the same?
Btw, on the Contact text and Appointment text that I made the 1 change, In outlook—in addition to that specific word—2 or 3 of the existing lines that I did not touch on the iPhone were also changed to blue, Calibri 13 header?

    Resolved.

  • Font problems between Word and MAC

I used MS Word on Windows PC and created lot of documents using TSCu Inaimathi tamil font. When I open those files in my MAC, its all weird characters. How do i fix this? Also, when I create new files in MAC, using the same font, I can read it in Windows.
    Can someone help?
    Thanks
    dheepa
Macbook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    When I
open those files in my MAC, its all weird characters.
    There could be two issues:
If the text is Unicode, then MS Word for Mac can't handle it (MS Mac products can't do any Unicode Indic script yet). Try opening the doc with TextEdit instead.
If the text is not Unicode, but TSCII encoding, then you must install the exact font that produced it on your Mac. OS X only includes Unicode fonts, not old legacy encodings.
All Tamil produced on OS X with the Inamathi font that comes with it will be Unicode and should be readable in Word 2004 OK.
