Inconsistent Results with Email Export?

I've set up my presets so that when I export to Mail via the Mail icon my images should be reduced in size/res and watermarks should be added. This is working fine on direct exports but not when export to mail? My images aren't being resized or watermarked?
Here's the way I have it setup: Aperture/Presets/Image Export/Email Medium-JPEG/Show Watermark is checked, as is Scale Watermark. I've also created a custom preset which is basically identical but still no dice. As I said Export works fine when exporting to a folder. Is there another way to set this up? Am I missing something? Anyone else having this issue?

Can't patch XE, unfortunately it comes with pre-2007 DST rules.
There is a metalink note describing how to fix the DST changes, and while it's not really a "supported" method, neither is XE- if you can get updated timezone files from a later patch set for the same release, 10gR2, on the right operating system, shutdown/startup the database the updated DST rules will be in place. The timezone files are in $ORACLE_HOME/oracore/zoneinfo.
Another unfortunately, any values already stored in the database using timestamp with local timezone datatypes for the affected period of the DST changes won't be correct, i.e. there is no 2010-03-14 02:01 (?) but with older timezone rules in place that would be a valid timestamp. The data has to be saved before updating the timezone file, and re-translated to timestamp w/local tz datatypes after the update.
IMHO storing literal timezone info isn't an ideal practice, let the client settings do the time interpretation, time is always changing. Its the interpretation of the time that gets changed. From time to time. :(

I'm getting incorrect and inconsistent results with current_timestamp and localtimestamp:
With SQL, localtimestamp computes the wrong offset (appears to use 1987-2006 DST rules):

  • Inconsistent results with ANSI LEFT JOIN on 9iR2

Is this a known issue? Is it solved in 10g?
With the following data setup, I get inconsistent results. It seems to be linked to the combination of using LEFT JOIN with the NULL comparison within the JOIN.
    create table titles (title_id int, title varchar(50));
    insert into titles values (1, 'Red Book');
    insert into titles values (2, 'Yellow Book');
    insert into titles values (3, 'Blue Book');
    insert into titles values (4, 'Orange Book');
    create table sales (stor_id int, title_id int, qty int, email varchar(60));
    insert into sales values (1, 1, 1, '[email protected]'));
    insert into sales values (1, 2, 1, '[email protected]');
    insert into sales values (3, 3, 4, null);
    insert into sales values (3, 4, 5, '[email protected]');
    SQL> SELECT titles.title_id, title, qty
2 FROM titles LEFT OUTER JOIN sales
    3 ON titles.title_id = sales.title_id
    4 AND stor_id = 3
5 AND sales.email is not null
    6 ;
    TITLE_ID TITLE QTY
    4 Orange Book 5
    3 Blue Book

    2 Yellow Book

    3 ON titles.title_id = sales.title_id
    4 AND 3 = stor_id
    5 AND sales.email is not null;
    TITLE_ID TITLE QTY
    2 Yellow Book 1
    4 Orange Book 5
    3 Blue Book
    1 Red Book
    It seems to matter what order I specify the operands stor_id = 3, or 3 = stor_id.
In the older (+) environment, I would understand this, but here? I'm pretty sure most other databases don't care about the order.
    thanks for your insight

  • Inconsistent results with MDX formula

Hi. I'm converting a BSO cube to ASO, and it has dynamically calculated formulas that I'm converting to MDX. I have a formula that is supposed to accumulate an account (Order Intake) through the months and years until it gets to the current month of the current year (set by substitution variables) and then just carries that balance forward until the end.
This is the formula I wrote in MDX.
    IIF( Count( Intersect( {MemberRange([Years].[FY95], [&Auto_CurYr].Lag(1))}, {Years.CurrentMember} ) ) = 1,
    IIF(CurrentMember ([Period]) = [Jan],
    [Order Intake] + ([Contract Value],[Adj],[Years].CurrentMember.PrevMember),
    [Order Intake] + ([Contract Value],[Period].CurrentMember.PrevMember)
    IIF( CurrentMember ([Years]) = [&Auto_CurYr],
    IIF( CurrentMember ([Period]) = [Jan],
    [Order Intake] + ([Contract Value],[Adj],[Years].CurrentMember.PrevMember),
    IIF( Count( Intersect( {MemberRange([Period].[Feb], [&Auto_CurMoNext_01].Lag(1))}, {Period.CurrentMember} ) ) = 1,
    [Order Intake] + ([Contract Value],[Period].CurrentMember.PrevMember),
    ([Contract Value],[Period].CurrentMember.PrevMember)
([Contract Value],[Adj],[Years].CurrentMember.PrevMember) /*This is the statement that evaluates for months and years after the current month and year*/
The inconsistent results are as follows:
I have a spreadsheet that has the years and months across the top in columns. The substitution variables are set to FY09 for the year and Oct for the month. The formula works fine until it gets to Jan of FY10, at which point it produces a number out of thin air, and carries that incorrect number through to the end.
When I put the years and months into my rows, however, and then drill down on the months, I get different results. Not only different, but different results at different times, too. When I first drilled, all results were correct. Now when I drill, it produces a random number in October of FY09 (not entirely random, but actually double what it's supposed to be), then #missing in Nov of FY09, then the correct number thereafter. Same exact data intersection on both spreadsheets, different results. I've retrieved over and over again, and the only time it might change is if I re-drill. I've used both Essbase Add-in and Smart View with consistently inconsistent results.
Has anyone ever encountered this sort of behavior with an MDX formula?

Well, I finally got a formula that works. I did end up using a combination of CASE and IIF, but I never did figure out how to deal with summing up ranges of data correctly, accounting for changing substitution variables, so I had to do a lot of hard coding by month. For instance, I couldn't ask it to sum([Order Intake],[Jan],[&Auto_CurYr]:([Order Intake],[&Auto_CurMo],[&Auto_CurYr]). Although it validated fine, when I tried to retrieve it said members were not of the same generation, presumably because my substitution variable could potentially be a non - level 0 month (it worked if I hard coded the end month). Also, I really don't like the MDX version of @LSIBLINGS and @RSIBLINGS.
    But this works.
    CASE
    When Count( Intersect( {MemberRange([Years].[FY95], [&Auto_CurYr].Lag(1))}, {Years.CurrentMember} ) ) = 1
    THEN IIF(CurrentMember ([Period]) = [Jan],
    [Order Intake] + sum(([Order Intake],[YearTotal],[FY95]):([Order Intake],[YearTotal],[Years].CurrentMember.PrevMember)),
    IIF(CurrentMember ([Period]) = [Feb],
    Sum(CrossJoin({[Order Intake]}, {[Jan]:[Feb]})) + sum(([Order Intake],[YearTotal],[FY95]):([Order Intake],[YearTotal],[Years].CurrentMember.PrevMember)),
    IIF(CurrentMember ([Period]) = [Mar],
    Sum(CrossJoin({[Order Intake]}, {[Jan]:[Mar]})) + sum(([Order Intake],[YearTotal],[FY95]):([Order Intake],[YearTotal],[Years].CurrentMember.PrevMember)),
    IIF(CurrentMember ([Period]) = [Apr],

  • IPhoto problem with email, export, editing...

Had my iMac upgraded with a new harddrive and Lion at my authorized retailer & service center. All has been good but did not use iPhoto much after the upgrade, but all seemed to be good.
    Recently photographed a family occasion and now I experience the following problems;
    1. After successful import I edit the pictures which leads to numerous crashes, seemingly randomly, but most frequently when jumping from editing one picture to the next.
    2. Share, Email does not work, only a few of the selected pictures are sent, sometimes with a low resolution thumbnail instead of the desired picture. The selection process works normally, but when the mail has been formatted only a few or none picture are inserted, in any of the templates, including classic. The number of selcted photos and their size are reported normal, they just don't show up in the mail itself
    3. Resorting to export to a folder, all of the pictures are exported, however not always with intact changes/edits???
I have previously never had any major problems with iPhoto up until this version, and am seriously considering ditching it after all the wasted time.
Any suggestions how to attack this problem in iPhoto 11 & 10.7 Lion?  (I am unable to find any plist etc like in 10.6 and earlier)
Thanks for any hints and/or tips...

    Hi Larry,
    thanks for your quick reply...
The harddrive and all user data was transferred by the authorized service center. I able to see and use all the old pictures, so I think (and hope) my pictures were correctly transferred.
    After reading this:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3087683?start=45&tstart=0
and done minor edits to ALL the NEW (of today) pictures I want, it seems to file, export correctly. I did some additional minor adjustments (exposure, saturation, sharpness, etc) and behold, the export worked ok, including edits like crops, straightenings, etc, that were omitted without the "adjustments"...
It feels like some proper bugs to me, and will probably look for another more robust and flexible software to do my edits...
    Recommendations?
Using Picasa sometimes, but read somewhere they use a hack to get to the iPhoto pictures & database, not sure I like that... Maybe I should go Aperture...???

  • Inconsistent results with "Apply" commit

Ever since using PPR event to filter MessageChoice results, I've been experiencing lag when trying to commit data. But the lag is only every other time I commit data!
Here are execution times and when the confirmation page appears (in order):
    1. 10 sec
    2. 1.5 min
    3. 12 sec
    4. 1.75 min
    5. 8 sec
    6. 1.6 min
    7. 7 sec
    8. 1.65 min
    9. 6 sec
Why is it that every other execution is an acceptable execution time and the others are not. No code was change between each execution time. Anyone else experience this?
    Thanks,
    -Scott

  • Odd results with quicktime exports

    Hi Folks
Has anyone come across this problem.
    My workflow goes like this:
Creating an animation with iStopmotion 1.5 on a 12"Powerbook OSX 10.3.9 and Quicktime 7.1.5.
I'm using frame size settings of 720 x 405 to produce a 16:9 output (this setting has worked fine in the past.)
When i export the clip to Quicktime using the same settings QT DVPAL Anamorphic settings. Quicktime ALWAYS produces a 1024 x 576 movie. Shouldn't be a problem..? transfer everything onto my G5 OSX 10.4.9 FCP 5.1.2 QT7.1.5
Import the Quicktime files into FCP and it all goes wrong.
If i leave the Quicktime files at 1024 x 576 then the movie is cropped at the bottom. (Not by me!)
If i resize the files using the movie properties settings then i end up with smaller (506 or some other strange number x) that are also cropped.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance
    D

    Solved!

Hi, I asked about this issue before on a different forum but didn't get a response. Support pointed me towards this forum so I'm asking here as maybe the other forum wasn't the appropriate one. My company is attempting to renew our ms partnership, and we are
    trying to certify our desktop
app for windows 8. I have attached a screen shot below showing the registry entries that our app makes. When we try to test for certification (windows 8) we get the different (but similar) results on different systems using the exact same installation package.
Here is an example of the results we get:
    Results:
An optional value 'VersionMajor' is missing or invalid      for program Chiro8000.
An optional value 'VersionMinor' is missing or invalid      for program Chiro8000.
An optional value 'MajorVersion' is missing or invalid      for program Chiro8000.
An optional value 'MinorVersion' is missing or invalid      for program Chiro8000.
A non-optional value 'DisplayName' is missing or      invalid for program Chiro8000.
A non-optional value 'Publisher' is missing or invalid      for program Chiro8000.
A non-optional value 'ProductVersion' is missing or      invalid for program Chiro8000.
An optional value 'InstallLocation' is missing or      invalid for program Chiro8000.
Can anyone point us in the right direction?

How did you publish this package? Here are some similar questions, maybe caused by installer:

  • Inconsistent results with SDO_RELATE and boundary conditions

    Hello,
I am using SDO_RELATE to find all points in one table with any interaction with a polygon selected from a second table. Pretty basic stuff. I noticed one point which exactly matches a vertex on the query polygon was not getting selected as expected. Experimenting a bit I found if I embedded the polygon geometry in the query (rather than selecting it from its table) the query selected the point in question! Experimenting further I found if I changed the query relation from ANYINTERACT to TOUCH the point in question was not selected. So my 2 questions are:
    1) What would cause this to fail when the query polygon is being selected from the table?
    2) How can ANYINTERACT be true but TOUCH be false?
Here is the first query that fails:
    SELECT a.point_id
    FROM point_table a, poly_table b
    WHERE a.point_id = <point which matches poly vertex>
    AND b.poly_id = <poly_id>
    AND SDO_RELATE (a.geom, b.geom, 'mask=ANYINTERACT querytype=WINDOW') = 'TRUE';
Here is the query that works:
    SELECT a.point_id
    FROM point_table a, poly_table b
    WHERE a.point_id = <point which matches poly vertex>
    AND SDO_RELATE (a.geom,
    MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY(2003, 8265, NULL,
    MDSYS.SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1, 1003, 1),

    -82.414884, 28.0094323)),
    'mask=ANYINTERACT querytype=WINDOW') = 'TRUE';
Here is the second query that fails (ANYINTERACT -> TOUCH):
    SELECT a.point_id
    FROM point_table a, poly_table b
    WHERE a.point_id = <point which matches poly vertex>
    AND SDO_RELATE (a.geom,

    -82.414884, 28.0094323)),
    'mask=TOUCH querytype=WINDOW') = 'TRUE';
The point geometry being selected from the point_table looks like this:
    MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY(2001, 8265, NULL,
    MDSYS.SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1, 1, 1),
    MDSYS.SDO_ORDINATE_ARRAY(-82.445319, 28.1139363))
The metadata for these 2 tables looks like this:
    POINT_TABLE
    GEOM
    SDO_DIM_ARRAY(SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('X', -180, 180, .05),
    SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('Y', -90, 90, .05))

    POLY_TABLE
    GEOM
    SDO_DIM_ARRAY(SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('X', -180, 180, .05),
    SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('Y', -90, 90, .05))
    8265
Both tables have R-tree indexes built.
    System is Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.5.0 with sdo_version = 9.2.0.5.0
Is it a problem that my points are stored as SDO_ORDINATES? Is the tolerance a factor? Is geodetic data a factor?
Let me know if any other information would be useful and thank you for your help!
    James

I am continuing to struggle with this one. I gave up on the SDO_RELATE function under the assumption the tolerance does not come into play for this function (is this true?).
Now I am trying to use the SDO_GEOM.RELATE function with a tolerance to make this work and it is not working as I would expect.
The following 2 queries show the distance between this point and this polygon is 0 yet they are disjoint. How can this be??
    Thanks, James

  • Inconsistent Results with Flash Using Different Monitors

    Hi Folks,
I hope this is the correct forum for this question. If not, let me know where to post it.
We do a lot of flash on DotNetNuke web sites. Strange combination? Maybe. At any rate we have had reasonable success but recently ran into a strange issue. Maybe it isn’t so strange for graphics gurus who really know a lot about things like aspect ratios, display resolution and various types of monitors but it was for us. We finally fixed our problem but not to my satisfaction because I don’t fully understand why what we did worked. Maybe someone on this forum more expert than me can provide some knowledge. I would really appreciate it. I always like to increase my knowledge base.
We had three Flash movie modules on a web page displayed via three DNN media modules. We do that all the time. However this time the center one was skewed or pushed over several inches to the right on a customer laptop and on one of our machines running Vista. It appeared to be specific to IE 8 but we didn’t do a lot of testing on other browsers. Every other machine we had looked OK. I had other folks look at the site but no one had the skewing issue.
From the testing we did do the issues appear to break down into two problems. The skewing on our Vista machine was corrected by reinstalling IE 8. This I guess was do to some installation problem when IE 8 was first installed.
Our customer however still had this problem with Win XP even after reinstalling IE 8 and he claimed the same problem existed on a new Win 7 machine with IE 8. We managed to get a laptop running Win XP and IE 8 with a monitor that we thought was like the one the customer was using. Sure enough we got the skewing problem. Reinstalling IE 8 made no difference as it did with our Vista machine. We then played with the actual size (height and width) of the Flash movie modules and the DNN media modules by trial and error until the skewing disappeared on the laptop. Everything now displays OK on all monitors that we have tested including all the customer’s machines. This appears to have something to do with the aspect ratio and the Flash player. I don’t believe in magic. There has to be a mathematical technical explanation for this but I don’t have the expertise to know exactly what it is.
Any help would be much appreciated. If there are any books, documents, or other material that will eliminate my ignorance please indicate what they are.
    Thanks,
    G. M.

  • Inconsistent results using the "places" view on the iPad with geotagged photos

I am getting inconsistent results with geotagged photos on the iPad (both 1 and 2) OS 5.01.  It seems that sometime photos will show up in the correct location on the places view others will not ( they will not show up at all).  In fact I can have a geotagged photo in one folder, synch with iTunes and it will not show up in the places view and then move that same picture to a different folder (which becomes an album on the iPad) re-synch and it will now show up at the correct location in the places view.  All photos show up in the album view.  Everything is the latest version iTunes, iPad etc.  I can also have many photos geotagged exactly to the same location (exact same coordinates) some will show up, others will not.
I have used different methods to geotag my photos.  At first I was using Photoshop Elements 8 until they stopped supporting geotagging photos.  Now I am using a third party application GeoSetter (excellent free application).  The GPS data is clearly in the Exif data but the results are not consistent.
    Any ideas?

I believe I have solved this problem myself and thought others might benefit from what I found.  It turns out to be what I believe as a glitch in iTunes.  iTunes creates a cache of all the photos that you synch with your iPad, iPhone etc.  Apparently it does not update that cache when you change the photo.  At least not the Geotagging data.  The file modify date was changing but that wasn't enough to cause iTunes to update the cache of the photos.  I deleted the cache of all the photos and re-synched and presto now all my photos where showing up at the correct location in the iPad "places" view.
I might add that I called Apple tech support and was routed to a higher tier support person and was very disappointed with his response.  He basically told me that the "place" view in the iPad and iPhone was designed to be only used with an Apple computer and Apple software and was surprised the places view was working at all with pictures synched with a Windows based machine.  He also said he was unable to help me since he couldn't provide support for non-Apple products.  Although I understand this to a point I think he was too quick to make this decision.  The solution after all was a simple one and one I think he should have known.  I would think this cache problem would happen whether I was using Apple products as well.  I view this as a bug in iTunes.  Apple needs to compare the modified date of the file and update the cache if it has changed.

  • Start/Remove-CMContentDistribution Inconsistent Results

I have been seeing inconsistent results with the powershell cmdlets of remove/start-cmcontentdistribution.
We are running ConfigMgr 2012 R2 CU3 at the site systems and remote consoles.
My remote console is on Windows 7 Pro SP1 with .net 4.5.2 with R2 Cu3, Powershell 4
I have been using the following syntax:
    Get-Content "E:\pkgs\ABC00123.txt" | ForEach-Object {Start-CMContentDistribution -PackageId ABC00123 -DistributionPointName $_}
In the text file, is just a list of distribution points associated with the package ABC00123
    Results I get:
Sometimes I get the following messages/errors:
WARNING: The result set exceeded the maximum size. Only first 1000 items used. You can use Set-CMQueryResultMaximum
Looking at some of the logs, it looks like the cmdlet is enumerating through all distributions no matter what the status for EACH DP/package that I specify, this can take hours for 100 entries.
Sometimes it deletes the DP from the package, lately it does not.
    The other message I get:
    No collection specified
No action actually occurs and the package still assign to the distribution point.
Supposedly, these were fixed in previous updates like CU2, and looks like there was some issues with CU1 with the "no collections specified" error.
I have tried emptying the %TEMP% folder to see if that was causing it
Sometimes, but not consistent, removing, rebooting, reinstalling the console sometimes help
    Anyone have any other insight?
    MCP, MCTS, MCSA,MCSE

This definitely does not look like correct behavior. Are you using the latest CU (CU4)? If so please file a feedback on Connect at
https://connect.microsoft.com/ConfigurationManagervnext/feedback and we'll look into this for our next release of the cmdlets.
If you file feedback on Connect, it would be very helpful if you provided cmdlet output with -Verbose.

  • Highly frustrated with Outlook 2013 Search People box bugs - Multiple Name Results for Same Contact & Inconsistent Results

The Outlook 2013 "Search People" box does not function properly. It frequently displays incorrect results or a mess of duplicate results. I've reported previous issues about this and consolidating my posts into one (with screenshots this
time). Hopefully this message will be forwarded to or seen by the Outlook programmers. It really needs to be fixed.
Outlook 2010 and other prior versions worked perfectly. You search for name, you get ONE result with the info you're looking for. FAST AND EASY. But with Outlook 2013 Microsoft has created a heck of a mess resulting in huge frustration and productivity loss
with such simple but important tasks.
I have hundreds of contacts stored in my Outlook address book, and they all have COMPLETE contact info added.
One major issue that I'm experiencing in the new Outlook 2013 is that I now get average of 4 or more duplicate name results appearing for the same contact. And each result contains different and incomplete contact info, making it impossible for me to quickly
find the basic info I'm looking for. The cause of this issue is that Outlook 2013 now provides results from not only your local address book(s), but it also shows results based  on your email history and social media accounts setup.
And there's no way to turn this off, or at least specify what folders and/or accounts the People Search box should use.
To make matters worse, the Microsoft developers conveniently forgot to add some form of an indicator (like a small icon besides each name result in the list)  that clearly indicates what result is from what source. So you must manually click on each
result one at a time and repeat the search until you locate the correct one.
For one specific example, I have a contact stored in my local address book called
Infusionsoft. When I type "Infusionsoft" in the People Search box to quickly find a phone number, Outlook  2013 shows me 7 results with the same name. See the screenshot below:
As you can see in the screenshot above, every result just says "Infusionsoft", so I have to manually click on each name result one at a time and repeat the process until I find the correct one from my address book. This same thing happens with other
    random contacts.
From what I can tell, Outlook is pulling results based on  based on recent emails I've received from different people with "@infusionsoft.com" in their email address. So the first result shows "[email protected]" (just the email
address), the second result shows "[email protected]", the third result shows "[email protected]" and so forth. I don't want Outlook to show all of that. I just want what's in my address book!
And you would think that the last result would be the correct one from my address book, but no. Sometimes its the 5th result, and other times it's the 3rd or 7th result. So there's no freaking order of things here.
We simply need the ability to turn off searching of email history and other accounts when using the People Search box. Problem fixed.
(And please don't tell me that I need to "link" every incorrect result to one main contact. You shouldn't expect everyone to have to tediously link any and all results that appear to a record. ESPECIALLY when 5+ results for each contact appear regularly.)
ISSUE 2: Some names must be typed in a different way for the Search People to locate them
Another big issue I'm having with the Search People box is that some name searches don’t show the correct result, unless I search for their names in a different way.
For one specific example, I have a contact stored in my address book named "Dave Johnson". When I type "Dave Johnson" in the Search People box, one result appears, but it's just his email address, only. It's not the result that's stored in my Outlook address
book with his phone number, addresses, etc. Screen shot below:
If I type in Dave's name reverse order (Johnson Dave),  no results are found at all.
Now if I just type in just"Johnson" all by itself, it finds Dave's correct result (the one stored in my Outlook Address Book). Along with everybody else that has "Johnson" in their name (see screenshot below)...
I double-checked how I have Dave's name programed in my address book, and it's in there as "Dave Johnson" for both the Full Name and File As fields.
Also, the name order shouldn't make any difference when using the People Search Box anyway. Sometimes I can find people by Last Name, First Name or First Name, Last Name. Only with random contacts does it get difficult finding  their info and
I have to do strange things like this to find them from the People Search box.
ISSUE 3: Some Search People results only yield an email address only.
For other random contacts, some search results only yield an email address with no other contact details. But I can open the persons contact card from the address book manually, with the same email address shown! Screenshot below...
In the screenshot above, I have outlined the Search People box results in red, and the Address Book results in green. You can clearly see that "Robert White" is a contact stored in my local address book with full contact details, but the Search People result
only shows his email address! Again, it's not consitent. It's hit or miss with different people.
ISSUE 4: Some results just don't appear at all, but they are in the address book
Another issue I'm experiencing with the People Search Box is that some people simply  cannot be found. But I can see their contact info just fine if I click on the "People" tab down at the bottom of the page and type in their name in the "Search Contacts"
field. Why can't the People Search box find certain people? I opened up their contact details and cannot find a single thing  that would prevent them from showing up in results.
These are clearly serious bugs that need to be fixed. And I'm shocked as to how this got missed--or ignored during alpha and beta testing. I see the "idea" behind the developers having the Search People box search everything outside of the
address book, but in real world application this causes a heck of a lot of problems & confusion, and it needs to be fixed ASAP.
For technical details, I have Outlook 2013 running on two computers using hosted Exchange 2010. One system is Windows 7 and other is Windows 8. The same problems occur on BOTH computers. As far as my Outlook account setup, I have all contacts stored in the
main address book (no sub-folders or other folders).
Can someone help communicate this message to the Outlook developers??? The "Frown" button limits me to 100 characters and one image. There's no way I can communicate this level of detail and steps to duplicate in 100 characters!

    Thanks for your reply.
    1) The instant search boxes in each individual page work just fine. If I am on the People page and type in a name in the "Search Contacts" field, it searches my contacts and displays the results that I want. But I should not have to leave whatever screen
I'm in to find people now. In Outlook 2010 and earlier versions, I could be on the calendar page and then search for a contact without clicking off the calendar completely. For productivity-sake, it's a huge waste of time and hassle now.
    2) I'm familiar with how contact linking works, and quite frankly it's a huge mess in general. I NEVER create multiple contacts for the same person. I get that Outlook 2013 get confused now when it detects a LinkedIn or Facebook account for the same person
already in my Outlook address book, but we need to have options that allow us to turn off results from some or all social networks. This is a big part of the problem.
Think about it this way - The average person has 150+ LinkedIn connections, and more for Facebook. Many people today have accounts for both and they are setup with the same email address. When Outlook 2013 has to scan all the networks IN ADDITION to your
local address book(s), it's a no brainer that it can get very confused trying to display results.
Another big part of the problem is that Outlooks new search system also scans your email history. I receive emails from people who use multiple email addresses, or emails from companies with multiple reps or ticket systems that send you a unique
ticket ID # ending in the same email address domain. Now Outlook displays people search results based on everything under the sun in my email history. This is beyond frustrating (see my "Infusionsoft" screenshot above in the first post).
Again, I want to stress that for the search examples I referenced, I only have one entry in my Outlook address book for each person. And that's all I want to find when I search for people--what's already in my own address book!
    In summary:
We need an OPTION to turn off searching external networks when using the People Search box
We need an option to tell Outlook to not scan email history for people search results (I think this needs to be disabled entirely actually. It's not helpful at all)
There should be a fixed priority for displaying people search results, with local address book results FIRST, followed by social network results.
There should be a clear icon/indicator next to each result that gives you a clue as to where the result is coming from. Your address book? Facebook? LinkedIn? We should not need to click on each result to get a hint as to where it's coming from.
Work out the bugs in general with the new search system.
One other thing that I didn't mention is that the Search People box also shows results for people I'm not even "friends" or connected with on the different social networks. But I've noticed that some people use the same email address for those networks that
I already have programmed for them in my address book, which is why Outlook sometimes shows me these results. Does that make sense?
I'll try rebuilding the index, but after testing Outlook 2013 on 3 different machines so far and seeing the same results (all slightly different results on each machine and very inconsistent), I doubt this will address the issue.

  • Fonts Not Embedding Consistently with PDF Export - Inconsistent Fix and Unknown Cause

I have had ongoing problems with PDF export from FrameMaker. Sometimes the correct fonts do not embed in the PDF and Times New Roman is substituted. The problem appears and disappears and is causing me a lot of lost time and frustration.
I am running FrameMaker 9.0 fully patched on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I have seen people complain about this issue and am familiar with the suggested fixes. However, the exact cause and solution eludes me because the problem continues to recur and I am only able to recover with guesswork and workarounds.
    Initially I did the following:
    ACROBAT PDF SETTINGS
    - In the printer properties for Adobe PDF settings I turned off the option "Rely on system fonts only; do not use documents fonts."
    ACROBAT DISTILLER SETTING
Under "Font" Settings I changed the following:
    - Under "Settings/Font Locations" I added the font folder for Technical Communication Suite 2.0 and made sure all the fonts existed there and in the Windows default font directory.
    - Under "Settings/Edit Adobe PDF Setting/Fonts" I changed the following options:
                - Selected "Embed all fonts"
                - Under "Embedding" chose "Always Embed" for the target fonts.
I tweaked these settings for hours and got no results. Then I rebooted and the problem had magically disappeared. I fixed the issue in the same way on another machine and the results were permanent and I was just happy to finally have it fixed, But this time it didn't last.
I should note that upon reboot, when I used the stock "PDF Job Options," the correct fonts still embedded, leading me to believe that the fix had nothing to do with the changes I made to Distiller settings.
After reboot I generated PDFs with the correct fonts embedded. Then I shut down FM, but left the system running. The next morning I opened FM again and the same problem occurred.
So I rebooted again -- and the problem disappeared again. I therefore thought maybe the issue fixes on reboot but recurs when you shut down FM and reopen. So I shut down FM again and reopened, but it is still working fine for the moment.
I verified that the Adobe PDF settings under "Printers & Devices" that I turned off (Rely on system fonts only; do not use documents fonts) remained correctly unchecked through all these changes.
I would really like to know why this happens so I can resolve it permanently and avoid more lost time.
    Thanks in advance,
    Douglas

The common theme I'm seeing here is that the setting edits you make in
Distiller through the FM "Save As PDF" option don't seem to take effect.
Do you know if that is true or could you elaborate on the notorious nature
    of this method for me?
    >
There are too many potential and transient problems to list. The only thing
I can say is that I've been an active member of the FrameUsers listserv
    (http://lists.frameusers.com/mailman/listinfo/framers) since FM version 6.0,
circa 2001, and probably 95% of the PDF problems reported there have been
fixed simply by using print to Adobe PDF (or to Acrobat Distiller in older
PDF versions), instead of using Save as PDF. Common advice there has always
been to avoid Save as PDF and even some Adobe employees have recommended
against using it. It doesn't matter which FM version.
The once-busy FrameUsers listserve has been fading away, recently, as this
new Adobe forum software allows reading via e-mail, and attachment of
screenshots.  Even if you look around on this forum now, you'll probably
find that there are two main fixes for issues with PDF. One is NOT using
Save as PDF, which seems to fix a whole bunch of issues. The other is the
use of a Windows hotfix to squash a Windows OS bug that causes dropped
    characters in PDFs.
In the rare instances that someone has issues with printing to PDF, they are
almost always related to errors in settings. Or occasionally someone can't
embed fonts because they are trying to the embed the virtual fonts that come
with their printer driver instead of fonts that have actually been installed
on their computer. (The fonts are hard-wired on their printer, so the system
can use them but not embed them.)

  • Inconsistent results when exporting projects as new libraries

I am trying to export a project as a new library without the original ("master") images and am getting inconsistent results. Each time I've tried this, I am careful not to check "Copy originals into exported library". Sometimes it works exactly as expected -- i.e., a new library file is created and, when I examine the contents of the new library, there are no master image files. Other times when I examine the new Aperture library file, I find that it contains master image files. Indeed, sometimes, the new library contains more master image files than there are images in the project from which the library was created.
What am I doing wrong or missing? Is this normal behavior?
    (Aperture 3.4.3)

After a bit of exploring, here is what I determined:
    1. Most of my projects were created by importing images from a folder without moving the original images (Files> Import> Folder as Projects> Store Files: In their original location). Using this method, the images in the project are all referenced images (i.e. the originals are not moved or copied into the Aperture library). When later export these projects as described above, the resulting library also does not contain any of the original image files or masters. This is my desired state and for most of my 2012 projects exactly what happened.
    2. If, however, any of the images in a given library were originally imported so that the master image resided in the Aperture library and that image was subsequently deleted, then the exported library will still contain the masters.
The solution I found was to open the exported library file and empty the trash (Aperture> Empty Aperture Trash).
(Of course, the longer term solution within my given workflow is to be careful not to import the masters at the beginning of the process.)
    Hope this helps someone.
