Incredibly irritating problem

I know I've asked about this before when someone with a similar problem posted a thread about it, but I got no help. Sorry to be posting again but it's driving me craaaazy.
Since installing Itunes 8, every time I put a new album onto my Ipod, the last ten seconds of EACH song just cuts out - just goes to the next song. This does not happen on Itunes, only on my Ipod. However I'm 100% sure this has only started since installing itunes 8 and it definitely only occurs with albums added to my Ipod since then.
I know I'm not the only person with this problem, can anyone PLEASEEEEE help? It's so annoying!

I have a similar problem. Since I downloaded Iron Maiden's Powerslave album last night, I found that the last 10 seconds or so of "2 Minutes To Midnight" are the start of the song "Losfer Words(Big 'Orra)" If you start Losfer Words you will hear the ending of 2 Minutes, but if you start at 2 Minutes, you cant really tell that Losfer Words started. Neither song has the "part of a gapless album" box checked in the options screen. This hasn't happened with any other songs, but it is annoying.

Irritating problem with Retina Display; dims/ flickers on and off and in weird pattern along bottom of screen

I bought a 13-inch Retina MBP in late September 2014, just a few months ago and i am starting to have problems with the screen.
First of all, the screen will sometimes fade and a weird pattern will appear at the bottom of the screen in which every second set of backlights is off and the other is on. Here is a picture that i found on the internet; from a much older mac though but still shows the problem.
The second problem, which is more irritating, is that every now and again the screen will sort of flicker where it will get darker then lighter and keep switching the brightness in a matter of seconds. This is so hard to look at!!
Hopefully there is an easy solution however i may have to take it to an Apple store and unfortunately get it replaced.

It sounds like you have a couple of unexpected video issues on your 13 inch MacBook Pro. I'd like to recommend these troubleshooting steps specifically to hep you determine if you need to take it to the Apple Store:

Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
Restart your computer.

Irritating problem with Fluxbox and pressing Ctrl + F3

I've used the Ctrl + F1, F2, F3 or F4 keys to switch between workspaces in Fluxbox but occasionally I'll press Ctrl + F3 and it will just log me out. This is highly annoying. Is there some way I can disable this functionality at all? I switch between workspaces regularly and it is highly annoying to have to reopen everything again after being logged out and it means I lose my train of thought with my work.
Can anyone offer a solution to this problem at all? Thanks.

It just happened again when I was using Spotify.
I had the following apps open:
Chromium - Workspace 1
Thunderbird - Workspace 2
KVirc - Workspace 3
Spotify - Workspace 4
When in Workspace 4 I pressed Ctrl + F3 as normal and it logged me out. So I logged back in and opened Spotify in Workspace 4 again and tried to get it to log out again and no matter what combination of keys and Workspace changes I did I couldn't get it to log me out again. I'm stumped.
Edit: I think the problem is KVirc. Everytime I use it this happens. I'll see if it happens again without it running for a couple of days (it just happened when using the arrows on the tool bar as well so it has nothing to do with the key combination). It would be annoying if this was the case as I quite like KVirc as a my IRC client.
Edit 2: Switched over to XChat. Will see if the problem persists.

An irritating problem with AirPort

Hi,
I've read a few forums addressing this issue but none of the proposed solutions have worked for me.
I am currently running a MacBook Pro on Snow Leopard (10.6.4) and my internet connection has just died. I tried unplugging the router, turning on/off AirPort and rebooting, attempting to renew the DHCP lease, but the problem still remains - AirPort has self-assigned an IP address and I am unable to connect to the Internet.
Does anyone know of a solution to this problem? I would greatly appreciate your help.

OK, so I would check whether your computer works with your router when it is using the Ethernet connection, and I would check whether it works wirelessly at other wireless hotspot locations other than your home.
If this were my problem, that would guide me in deciding whether it is a hardware problem with the wireless or maybe a configuration problem such as MAC authentication in the router preventing affiliation or incompatible wireless protocols.
That new piece of information now confuses me about what exactly is your network topology. So are you running BootCamp on this computer and you can connect to the internet in the Windows boot camp partition but can't connect to the internet in the Apple partition? Or vice versa? Or none of the above? What is "excellent?" Full bars in the signal strength indicators? What computers/OSs are getting onto the internet for you, and what ones aren't?

Irritating problem

ok i have windows 8 and i recently updated adobe flash player to version 14.0.0.145 now my youtube wont play certain videos i have opera and my moms computer also has opera and hers works perfectly fine but mine wont load the video at all it just fades all the quality options out except 240p and just sits there with the stupid little loading symbol and nothing else it never loads after that so whats the deal here why is it doing this if i disable the adobe plug in it plays the video but i dont like doing that whats the problem?

Simply select and highlight all tracks from the album, right click and go to "Get Info" and re-type the album name on all the tracks, but put an extra space in the title somewhere. The MAC wil then group all items together, as technically you have re-titled the album tracks as somethnig different!

Irritating problem with charts

I am trying to use two columns of data to plot a simple scatter-plot. I select the left column, and then tap and drag the blue circle in the bottom right corner onto the right column. This always used to make Numbers plot one column against the other. However, recently it has taken to creating another series, both plotted against Untitled 1, Untitled 2, etc.
What has happened and how can I fix it?

Irritating problem with adding columns

I am adding columns to jtable. And then moving it to required postion.
But whenever I edit those columns all the newly added columns and the first column reflects those changes. ie whatever I enter in the new columns, it appears in all newly added columns and the first column as well.
whats wrong I am doing here.

Make sure you are not sharing the TableColumn instance or adding a TableColumn that already is in the TableColumnModel.
When resizing the table column, do the others resize too. ?

Anyone else expierencing problems with touch

I've had my player(20GB) for two months. Its worked fine so far. Recently however i've had problems with the touchpad, at first it wouldn't work sporadically, but by dint of reseting the player or simply waiting a few minutes the pad would work again perfectly. This happened again over the last couple of days except this time it appears more serious.
i switched it on today and touchpad would not work. After roughly two hours play on random setting it suddenly sprung to life and began working absolutely perfectly. I then went for a walk and locked the player as i do when its in my pocket, on returning and unlocking player pad had inexplicably froze up once more.
The player has never been subject to any trauma/misuse, and the thing thats really confusing is how the pad can go from being frozen to working perfectly without me even touching it's I figured the touchpad would not take kindly to being mashed so i didn't and thus far the problem tended to rectify itself, my question therefore is ) anyone experienced this incredibly irritating problem and 2) would defragmenting the hard disk etc have any effect? any replies would be greatly appreciated

I would most certainly try a disk clean up. If that doesn't seem to resolve the issue a reloading of the OS could be the solution. There might be a bug in the firmware you have a fresh install could clear it out. Anything beyond that may be a hardware issue that could be something that warrents a replacement via RMA.

Is there any way to change the default folder for new finder windows...

...Or even set a different folder as the "home folder"?
I am recovering from an incredibly messy archive and install which refused to allow me to save my old user accounts, instead moving them all into "Previous Systems". In my haste to get the machine working again I just dragged and dropped my old home folder into the /users/ directory and changed the "short name" of the new account to match it. IT worked, but now I have an incredibly irritating problem. That is now indeed my home folder, as appears in the sidebar of all finder windows, albeit under my new short name instead of my old one. All my documents in iWeb, Garageband, etc are working now and default to the new folder.
However, Finder has not recognized this, and every time I open a new Finder window or anything like that it defaults to the home folder created by the reinstall, which is now locked to this account (so all the folders have a red no entry sign on them). I would very much like to tell Finder to ignore this now defunct folder and default to my actual home folder instead - is there a way to do this without actually moving or changing any folders? Like a preference setting somewhere? I know there's the "Advanced Options" pane in Leopard but I've been completely unable to find anything like it in Tiger

Irritating graph problem

I have an X-Y graph that holds several datasets and has a cursor, locked to
datapoints, that the user can drag around to get information on different
datapoints and different datasets. The user can opt to hide a dataset to
make the display clearer. In this case, if the datapoint the cursor is
pointing to disappears from the plot, the cursor goes to (0,0) and has to be
manually brought back by the menu option "Bring cursor to centre", which is
a builtin function of the X-Y plot.
I want to remove this manual step and automatically bring the cursor back to
the centre. This should have been trivial- I assumed the "Bring cursor to
centre" would be a method of the X-Y graph object. Not so. So I then read
the new X and Y axis ranges aft
er removing the data and I set the cursor X
and Y to the midpoint of these. This doesn't work unless a datapoint exists
at the centre of the plot. So first, I unlock the cursor and move it to the
centre- this is fine. If I manually change the cursor lock mode to "Lock to
point" it automatically jumps to the closest datapoint- good. However if I
do it programmatically, it jumps to (0,0). Not good.
This is obviously an irritating problem. I'm on 6.0- I've not had the time
to backup and install the latest update, though I've not heard of this in
the discussed fixes.
I don't particularly want to have to locate the closest visible datapoint to
the centre and programmatically move the cursor there- it's bound to be much
slower than the builtin function if only I can get at it!
Anyone done this?

Hmm. Updating my installation to 6.0.2 doesn't solve the crash. Bug report
submitted. I've attached here a simple VI demonstrating the problem that,
when run, results in a failure at line 2361 in "graphcrs.cpp". Be
interesting to see if it's a widespread thing or just my machine.

I have a very big problem with my mac book pro. It continously looses the wifire connection. This happens every 5-10 minutes and is getting to be a very big irritation. I have tested my wifiresignal

I have testet the wifi signal and had my router checked - both are fine.

First you should check on another Wifi to see if it's your Lion machine.
If it only occurs on your Wifi, then perhaps you have local interference and need to set the router on another channel far from others.
You can install a free program called KisMAC that you set your Driver Preferences to Apple Airport Extreme Passive Mode, enter your Admin password and monitor your local Wifi signals, see if you cna pin point the cause of your interference or meddler.
If your not running WPA2 with AES and a 12 plus random character/letter/number password for both Admin and Internet access use only then you should seriously consider doing so.

Problem with 6101 and Orange UK: phone silently ge...

Hello, I have a Nokia 6101 and I've twice experienced an incredibly annoying problem with it (to use mild words). I did a good search on the forum but I didn't find anything. First of all, I must say that the phone was originally bought in Italy (from Telecom Italia Mobile) and then moved to England, where I'm using it with Orange UK. I just exchanged the SIMs and it worked fine at once, so I assumed everything was OK. The problem I mentioned is as follows: the phone appears to work normally and reports good strength for the signal BUT if people actually try to call me the phone doesn't ring at all and (so I've been told) is seen as switched off. Furthermore -- even worse -- apparently they are also unable to text me (the text is somehow rejected, I don't know the exact error message other people get). Also, if I try to call or text someone while the phone is in this zombie state it doesn't work (sorry I didn't write down the exact error message I got). In fact trying to use the phone is he only way of knowing that something is wrong. I've been using this phone for about a month and this thing has happened (as far as I know!) twice, once just a few days after I first got the phone, and the second time yesterday (which caused an untold amount of distress as I was waiting for an important call). Switching the phone off and then on again solved the problem in both cases, so I assume is some sort of firmware problem, possibly a minor incompatibility between my phone/firmware and Orange Uk. Has anybody come across a problem like this? What should I do? Any suggestion would be very welcome, because otherwise I'll have to do sample calls every 15 minutes just to check that the phone is working properly! You're working in Luxembourg, but your SIM card is not allowing your phone to work! This must be irritating for you. Because you got your SIM card from Orange, please discuss the issue with them for a resolution. When buying a SIM card internationally, you are using the service of the other carrier. In addition, this is not something that would need an update. Please let me know how this works out for you. Thanks!

HTML Snippet Resizing Box Problem

Hey guys, hope someone can shed some light on this incredibly irritating issue that i've been struggling with for ages.
I've got a javascript for generating a random quote out of a preset list (10) into a HTML snippet box on my site.
The problem that I can't cure is that each quote, depending on its length makes the html box resize around it, so it sometimes covers some of the existing text.
What I want is for the generated text to fit itself into whatever box size I choose.
Any ideas??

Ok so ,if I try to resize the box, it goes widthways rather than lengthways and therefore covers all the text next to it.
If I add the
tags, it just breaks it completely and nothing shows up.

A problem using Privoxy with suckless surf

Hi guys,
I'm having a problem with Privoxy on some sites. I use the surf web browser from suckless.org.
When I visit some sites, YouTube for example, surf spawns multiple terminal windows which seemingly try to download files.
The downloads fail with "curl: (56) Received HTTP code 403 from proxy after CONNECT".
It does this for every page I click on an affected site.
I've narrowed the problem down to Privoxy. If I disable it, then this behaviour stops.
However, short of removing Privoxy from the equation, I'm struggling to solve this problem on my own.
I'm using the default Privoxy configuration. It's incredibly irritating so any help fixing this would be much appreciated.

Minor irritations with N80...

Hey there,
I have two little problems with my phone and just wondered if anyone could help...
Firstly in Music Player, when I press pause the music stops, but then often won't play again. The pause button briefly flashes the play symbol, but then goes back to pause. This is incredibly irritating as you have to start the song all over again!
Also when you're typing a text message, I can't add a contact's phone number into my message. Is this norml for this phone? I don't know whether it's just an error with my phone, but I would have thought the facility to add numbers without exiting the message, loading up the phonebook, remembering the number, going back to the message and typing it in, was fairly standard?

Hi, i have the same problem in the musicplayer, perhaps it could depend on what file-end the musicfile has! I havent tried it yet thou! Concerning the sms problem its not a bug. For some weird reason nokia have made several adjustments to the Nseries phones that wasnt there in previous models, and that just makes it more difficult to do certain things as the ones you just described! The only thing you can do is to go in to the phonebook, edit the contact, select the number and copy it and then go back to the sms and paste it in! One thing that annoyes me is if i have had a dataconnection there is no way to see how many bites that have been transfered after the connection is closed, the only logging avaiable is the totalt amount of booth, Wlan, Gprs, Umts and so on. Very stupid when gprs and umts costs, whilse Wlan most times are free of charge.
The only way to see is to go in to connections options and select active connections, whilst you are still connected!
I can name hundreds of other things but i think most people are aware of them already, as seen here on the posts
