Indexing BLOB containing multimedia data
Hello,
I have a blob column I'd like to index so I can perform text searches in it using a CONTEXT index. The problem is, I may find any type of data in it, even audio or video. The INSO filter recognizes images so it works correctly, but an audio file takes too long and creates lots of useless records in the index table. I've read I can create a format column and set it to IGNORE for the files I don't want to index, but this woul imply checking every file's format before inserting it. Is there any other way of doing it? I'm using Oracle 9.2
Thank you
Rafa
Hi,
Can you write something to recognize the files that you will either support or not support (like look at the extension or object metadata - possibly work with interMedia). Write the that other column (to ignore or not) based on the type.
Just a thought since your post has been hanging for a while w/o response - don't know that it actually helps, but thought I'd mention it as a possibility.

Oracle package to process multimedia data from BLOBs or so...
I have intention to make some toy/study application about search in multimedia data - so - for now my design is to put some pictures or even movies in BLOB fields and then extract/decode (e.g. I gues - maybe this can be done even in PL/SQL code) them as data for individual pixels and them try to process with usual methods that I descibed in scholarly journals or so... So - does there any package for such decoding already available? Open source or maybe - even as Oracle supplied package...
Hi, What decode type do you need ?? Do you use some special software for develop that??
Please let us know more information about your requirements,
Regards. -
I am working with a custom table zscs_record.
data is being fetched in the perform upload_workarea.
but the list contains no data.
there might be any problem with the display_log.
if anybody plz can find where is the mistake full points will be rewarded.
just copy the program and execute it.

I couldn't find any resolutions in the newgroups or toubleshooting patterns. I'll be raising a support case with BEA shortly in the mean time could this be an application issue or, as I think, more probably a problem caused by a network device?
I can see that the issue seems to be with a response being 0 bytes in size as the connection was reset.
This trace is from a test server under load but the WLS configuration is the same as the productin server which we believe to be under the same loads as we are testing. We do not see this issue on the live servers, but I'll be double checking the logs on the production servers anyway.

How to see blob as "normal data"
Hi ,
i have a table with a column of BLOB type
how can i see it as normal data ? i.e text or numeric instead of binary
tks & rdgsAnd if the BLOB does not contain "normal" data, but pure binary data such as a PNG image, a Cisco router executable, or a Microsoft .xls file?
If you need to see "normal" data, then you should be asking yourself why that data is stored in a BLOB - and not as a varchar2, number, date or even CLOB data type.
The DBMS_LOB PL/SQL package provides an API for BLOBs and CLOBs. This can be used to read a chunk at a time and display this data in a custom format. -

I used a partitioned HDD for time machine, using a partition already containing other data files. I am now no longer able to view that partition in Finder. Disk Utility shows it in grey and "not mounted". Any suggestions of how to access the files? Does using time machine mean that that partition is no longer able to be used as it used to be?
HDD is a Toshiba 1TB, partitioned into two 500GB partitions.
OS X version 10.9.2Yes, sharing a TM disk is a bad idea, and disks are cheap enough so that you don't need to.

Error message: "This document contains photoshop data which appears to be damaged."
I saved the file I was working on by choosing "Save" from the "File" menu. Unfortunately after 10 min as I saved my work my PC had "issues" and needed to be manually shut off. I was trying to open the psd file after restarting my computer and I get this error message: "This document contains photoshop data which appears to be damaged. Continue and ignore the photoshop data?" I clicked okay and then I get just a black screen. No Layers or any pictures.
I have tried to preview in Graphic Converter, in Illustrator, in ACDSee, etc... Nothing... I just get a black screen. Also, I have tried file recovery programs: Stellar Phoenix PSD Repair V1.0 and Advanced PSD Repair v1.4
The program Stellar Phoenix PSD Repair V1.0 was able to recover only BMP picture 3.4 KB, it is so tiny that you can't see anything on the picture.
I also have tried to install plugin "psdrecover", for Adobe Photoshop. Unsuccessfully for some reason. The plugin does not want to be installed into the "plugins" folder. I did follow the instructions.
I am using Photoshop 6 version and Windows 7 operating System.
I am in dire need of help. I've been working on it for days. Is there any way to recover that file back?I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you're likely out of luck. We almost never hear of anyone recovering image data from a damaged PSD.
Some thoughts:
1. Set up backups.
2. Get in the habit of saving your master file in several different locations as you work on it.
3. Consider upgrading to Photoshop CS6, which auto-saves your work in the background. I'm not sure whether it would have recovered the data in your particular case, but it's possible.
4. Don't feel bad - go back and do the image again, and I'll bet it comes out even better in less time.

Error Message - "could not complete your request because the preset contains invalid data"
I am trying to open a file, and every time I do it comes up with the following error message:
"Could not complete your request because the preset contains invalid data"
I am using Photoshop CS4 on a Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.2.
I have tried:
- restarting my mac
- opening different files created at different times
- deleting photoshop from my app folder and the app support folder from my /username/library/application support/adobe/ folder and copied them back from a Time Machine backup from a few days ago.
I was using Photoshop all day today with absolutely no problems. I have searched Google and this forum and have come up short. No one has this exact error anywhere.
Any help? Thanks so much in advance!
Pat DryburghThe one thing you didn't do is reset your Photoshop preferences.
Most likely the preferences got corrupted, and reference a corrupt preset. -
Unable to download photos from my camera. iPhoto returns an error message that states: The following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognized file or the files may not contain valid data). FILE NAME: 100_0490.JPG REASON: com.apple.ImageCaptureCoreError- 9905. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT? Did not have a problem importing photos under the LEOPARD OS, however, now that I have upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.3 the iPHOTO app is not performing the imports.
Are you using Photos, or iPhoto? Maybe you've got a corrupt file on your camera. I would try using the image capture application to import the bad picture to my desktop. If it works and the picture looks ok, then delete that pic from the camera, then try to import into iphoto again. You can then import the pic it was saying was bad from your desktop.
Or, try downloading all the pics using image capture and then import from the download folder. -
The backup file contains unrecognized data and cannot be used
I am trying to restore files from an NT back up on a SBS 2003. The backup was taken on this machine and trying to restore to the same. I get this error: The backup file contains unrecognized data and cannot be used.
I tried copying it to a different machine with no luck. Any suggestions?
RobertHi,
Since the backup file cannot be restored on a different machine, the backup file could be corrupt. You need to use some third party recovery utilities to restore the backup file.
