Infopackage and logical files

Hi,
I have to load data from flat files.
- I try with Files on local workstation, infopackage works correctly.
- I try with Files on appli. server, datasource preview is ok, and infopackage doesn't work. I have the message : "Problem occured during the access of AppServ file."
I don't understand why datasource is ok with preview, but infopackage ko !
Any idea to help me ?
thanks a lot.

I tried both of ways (dialog, batch...)
Only flat files from local workstation are ok.
Flat files from application server are ko.
Example :
I tried to load, in dialog :and I have the message text : "Problem occured during the access of APPServ file."
With EXACTLY the same parameters (adapter, file name...), datasource is ok, and preview is ok with data !
any idea ?

  • InfoSpoke and Logical File Name

We have created an Infospoke to extract data to a logical file. When we define the “Logical File Name Definition” using the “FILE” transaction, we have to enter a physical file name. This will require us to create a new Logical File Name Definition for every Infospoke.  Instead of hard coding the physical file name in the “Logical File Name Definition” for each InfoSpoke we would like to dynamically create the file name to include the InfoObject Name (cube, ODS object, etc) in the physical file name.
We have tried to use the <F=CPROG> substitution parameter in the logical file name. When the function module FILENAME_EXIT_CPROG” is called we find that we do not have access to any information other then what is available in the system variables (structure “SYST”)
    1.     Are there any modification to the class “CL_RSB_FILE_LOGICAL” and method DETERMINE_FILENAME that we can make to create a logical file name that includes the InfoSpoke name?
    2.     Is there any way to access any system information from within the FILENAME_EXIT_CPROG function module that would give us the InfoSpoke information?

I think you can modify the method 'DETERMINE_FILENAME' for this.
In the call to FILE_GET_NAME_USING_PATH FM, add an additional parameter 'parameter_1', and set its value to O_R_REQUEST-N_OHDEST (this should have the open hub destination name).
    call function.....
    parameter_1 = O_R_REQUEST-N_OHDEST
If the logical filename contains placeholder (< > ??), it should now be replaced with the destination name.
I am not very familiar with ABAP objects. You might wish to check whethet it is possible without a 'modification' like this, where you create another Z implementation of the class and delegate(?).

  • What are AL11 files and logical files

what are AL11 files and logical files

YES. these are the files that you use to load data.
Reg your question of how to see the data sources or view data, I replied yo your other question in other thread.
"is there any way by which we can check out that particular file in application server after the data has been loaded"
You can see this in data load monitor.
I dont know what do you mean by logical files.

  • LOGICAL FILE PATH AND LIGICAL FILE NAME

    1 I have one file(saritha.txt) on
Presentation sever and I want to create logical file and logical file path to application server?
    please explain with example.

  • Creation of logical file while creating APD

    Hello,
I am creating an APD in which Multiprovider as source and flat file as the target with some filter in between.
While defining the target as flat file, I have selected application server and logical file name.
Can any one please let me know how to create this file which should be selected from the list of files.
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi,
In order to create a file in the directory, you would need to write a ABAP program from your side.. like OPEN DATASET. or else Basis would help you to create this fro you.
    Hope I understood your question...

  • Physical and Logical path

    Hello,
what is a physical file and logical file in PATH table of SAP.
    Plz help,
    aafaq

    Hi aafaqhusain,
    1. logical file path is nothing but a    IDENTIFIER/STRING/NAME
    = the name by which
       we refer to that file.
      (in our programs)
    2. The physical location of that file,
may change from server to server,
      or from time to time.
(hence, we do not use hardcoded physical path,
       in our programs,
but instead use this MAPPING of logical path,
      to the physical path)
    regards,

  • Logical file name or logical path name incorrectly defined

    Dear All,
We are doing archival in our IDES for test purpose before we do it to our Production.
    Steps Performed
Copied AM_ASSET archive object to ZAM_ASSET
    Logical Path
      Logical path    ZAM_ASSET
      Name            Asset
      Syntax group    UNIX       Unix compatible
      Physical path   /archive/test/<FILENAME>
    Logical File Name
       Logical file    ZAMASSET
       Name            Asset
       Physical file   FI_<MONTH>_<DAY>.txt
       Data format     ASC
       Applicat.area   AM
       Logical path    ZAM_ASSET
But when we run the WRITE though SARA , in the job log we get the following
Logical file name or logical path name incorrectly defined
When generating a file name for an archive file that is to be created, the system determined that the logical file name FIAA_ARCHIVE_DATA_FILE or the logical path name ARCHIVE_GLOBAL_PATH  was defined incorrectly.
But we have maintained a Logical name  ZAMASSET , so we are unable to change the location of archived file and as well as the format.
So is there any setting we need to maintain apart from the logical file name and logical file path.
    Suggestions are highly appreciated.
    Thanks in anticipation

    hi,
    follow this steps :
    - transaction SARA
    - enter authorization objects, eg SD_VBAK
    - hit button CUSTOMIZING
    - Archiving Object-Specific Customizing: execute Technical Setting
    - field Logical File Name enter or select ARCHIVE_DATA_FILE
    - leave CONTENT REPOSITORY as blank if you are not using 3rd party for storing (eg. IBM Tivoli)
    - back to customizing
    - from Basis Customizing, execute : Cross-Client File Names/Paths
    - on Logical FIle Path Definition, highlight (select) ARCHIVE_GLOBAL_PATH on the right pane
    - double click on the Assignment of Physical Paths to Logical Path on the left pane
    - double click on OS used, eg. UNIX, define Physical Path where archive file (on WRITE process) will be stored
    - save changes made
    - double click Logical File Definition, Cross Client on the left pane
    - double click ARCHIVE_DATA_FILE on the right pane
    - make sure that logical path is already set to ARCHIVE_GLOBAL_PATH
    - save changes made
this setting also can be done using transaction FILE
we have experienced on this case using SAP standard archiving (SARA, SARI) and everything is fine with this setting above.
    hope it help you.

  • Logical file path creation

    Hi All,
In our project we have a requirement to fetch data in to .csv file on application from a report through an APD.
I have the complete step by step procedure to create logical file path and logical file name, but i have some doubts as follow
    1. what is the adventage of using Logical file path and name, cant we use RSCRM BAPI file method?
    2. What are the different types of Syntax group... and most of the time why we select UNIX as a syntax group while creating logical file path???
This will be a very helpful information for me..
    Please help me..
    Thank you,
    Jaimin

RSCRM_BAPI - directly dumps a query as a .CSV in the app server - for an APD to work - you cannot specify the filename but then by specifyinf a logical file name - it can be run multiple times without any changes...

  • LSMW logical file

    Hello Gurus,
I'm creating the transfer programs via LSMW, and I have  fo
und problems with the source list and inforecord program (RM06IBI0), For this case in the step "specify file" it's mandatory assign the logical path and the logical file in the converted data.
I the customer systems it doesn't work, for example if I select the logical path TMP and logical file A, I have the following error:
Logica path TMP doesn' not point to a directory.
I create via transaction FILE and SARA ( checking the cutomizing against SAP notes) a new logical path ZLSMW and logical path ZLSMW, with transacion AOBJ I relate all to a object.
But I continue with the same error.
I test the LSMW in another systems, and it work I select any logical path and any logical file and !! it work !!
It seems something related with the administration systems, something missing in the system of the customer and not in other systems,,,,,but ¿what?
    Thanks

  • Infopackage-Load Many Files from Application Server and later Archive/Move

    Hi All..
I have a doubt,   I have a requirement of take many files to load into BI 7.0..  I used the infopackage before with option:
Load Binary File From Application server
I load information successfully... only with one file ...but If I can load many files (with different names) like the next list.. I think it's not a good idea modify the file name (path) on infopackage each time).. :
*All of this files will be on one server that itu2019s map into AL11.. Like
    Infopfw
    BW_LOAD_20090120.txt
    BW_LOAD_20090125.txt
    BW_LOAD_OTHER_1.txt
    u2026.
    Etc..
This directory it's not in BW server.. It's other server..but I can load form this location (one file by one)
Could you help me with this questions:
    -     How can I Use an infopackage with routine that take all the files..one by oneu2026 in order of creation dateu2026and load into Target? Is it possible?.. I have some knowledge of ABAP.. but I don´t know exactly how I can say to system this logicu2026
    -     In addition is it possible move this files to other locationu2026 like into Infopfwarchive u2026 just to have an history of files loaded.
I saw that in infopackage you have an option to create a routine.. in ABAP codeu2026 Iu2019m a little bit confused because I donu2019t  know how I can specify all the path..
    I try with:
    Infopfw
    InfopfwFile.csv
    Infopfw
This is the abap code that automatically you see and you need to modifyu2026
Create a routine for file name
This routine will be called by the adapter,
    when the infopackage is executed.
              p_filename =
              p_subrc = 0.
Thank you for your ideas or recommendations.
    Al

Hi Reddy, thank you for your answer
I have some doubuts.. when you explain me the option:
All the above files are appending dates at the end of the file....
You can load the files through infopackage by using Routines and pick the files based on date at the end of the file..***
I need to ask you if you think that when you know the date of the file and the infopackage pick each file... thi can work for many files??... or how it's possible control this process?
About this option, I want to ask you If when you menction Unix code... where it's programed this code?.. in the routine of BW Infopackage??
    ****Or
Create two folders in your BW in Application server level, in AL11 (ask Basis team)
I call it is F1 and F2 folders.
First dump the files into F1 I assume that the file name in F1 is "BW_LOAD_20090120.txt", using Unix code you rename the file and then keep in the same foleder F1 or move to F2.
Then create InfoPackage and fix the file name (i.e. you renamed), so you don't need to change everyday your file name at infopackage level.Because in AL11 everyday the file are overwrite.
To I get BW_LOAD_20090120.txt file in F1, then I renamed to BW_LOAD.txt and loaded into BW, then tomorrow I get BW_LOAD_20090125.txt in F1, then I renamed to BW_LOAD.txt....
so in this way it will work. You need to schedule the Ubix script in AL11.
This is the way how to handle the application server...I'm using the same logic.
    Thank you soo much.
    Al

  • Infpackage with logical file name having current year and month

    Hello all,
I am using the FILE transaction to maintain the logical file name for infopackage loads in BW.This logicalfile name is to be assigned to physical csv file in AL11 directory.
This csv  file would be having the current month and date at the end of the name for e.g for the month of April 2008,the file name would be say xx_200804.csv.I wanted to know if by using the palceholder  <YEAR><MONTH> in the physical file name ,would the current month date and month be automatically concatenated at the end of file name ?Has anyone used this option before?

yes it does work,i tried out finally and the system picks current month and year

  • What is a  Logical and Physical file path in sap?

what is a  Logical and Physical file path in sap?

    Hi,
Physical file is what you see from the OS level.
Logical file is what ABAP code can call certain functions to read/write.
Transaction FILE would link them together. Typically the logical path ends with "<FILENAME>", and the logical file refers to the logical path.
To extract the physical path from the logical path name
    DATA: lf_mandt TYPE sy-mandt,
            lf_opsys TYPE sy-opsys.
      lf_mandt = sy-mandt.
      lf_opsys = sy-opsys.
To extract the physical path from the logical path name
      CALL FUNCTION 'FILE_GET_NAME'
        EXPORTING
          client           = lf_mandt
          logical_filename = p_unix
          operating_system = lf_opsys
        IMPORTING
          file_name        = gwa_input
        EXCEPTIONS
          file_not_found   = 1
          OTHERS           = 2.
      IF sy-subrc EQ 0.
Concatenating the physical path and the input unix file name
        CONCATENATE gwa_input p_file INTO gf_file .
      ENDIF.
    Reward if helpful.
