Infopath custom form error

I have a custom form created in Sharepoint that has a people picker field. When this field is populated with an employee email who has left the company and I try to change it to a current employee's email, I get this error:
Infopath cannot submit the form because it contains errors. Errors are marked either with a red asterisk.......
There is only one field in the form that is a required field and is filled in. This problem doesnt occur when I change the current employee with another employee. I am a Sharepoint newbie so please pitch in with your inputs. Thanks in advance!

hello Vidswar,
there's couple of probabilities here! it could be a validation in a rule, it could be a data validation error, for example, you have a date field where it has a text typed in it.
First thing first, usually when you get this error in a infopath form, the field or data with error will be colored in red for you to notice and change it! try to modify the existing form again and fetch your form for a red-labeled data (it could be the
people picker).
i would first ask you to make sure you're using the people picker correctly! (i assume you could miss-use it), in people picker, there's 3 ways you can fill in, (1)typing the account name for the user (for Aabed Yassine for example it could be Ayassine),
(2) typing the user name (Aabed Yassine), (3) if you dont know whats the exact user name or their account, click on the book icon in the people picker, where you can browse and search for users.
NOTE: user name/ account/ email in people picker should be udnerlined automatically if the username/ account/ email you specified is VALID, make sure to check this!
if you're sure you're filling the people picker with a valid data:
-Run through your form rules, get to know what rules you have, what they do and when.
-what is your required field type? what's filled in it, and is there ANY rules on it.
from the ribbon> home tab> click on rules. Now click on the required field and check if there's any rules on it (field rules will appear in the Rules panel after you click on the field).
also..
You can always go to Data tab from the ribbon> select
Rules Inspector to view all rules written in your form.
good luck
let me know how it goes.

  • Infopath Form error - validation errors that are not in the current view?

    Hey Experts,
    I have a Sharepoint 2010 server running on Server 2008. We have a list that has a custom form created using infopath for editing and new creations.
    The problem appeared after a server restart.
    Users can no longer create a new item in the list when they do they get this error:
    The form contains the following errors:
    Field or group: my:Author
    Error: Cannot be blank
    When I try and preview it in infopath2010 it also does the same thing but provides a more detailed error:
    Infopath cannot submit the form because it contatains validation errors that are not in the current view. Errors are marked with a red astrick or red dashed boarder.
    If you cannot find an error in otherviews, there might be a problem with the forms design.
    I checked all thru the form for my:Author field and can't find it on the page as a control or in the list of fields. Any recommendations?
    Thanks!

  • Error while Creating user using Custome form

    Hi,
    I created a custom form same as create user form
    updated in xlDefaultAdmin.properties,xlWebAdmin_en_US.properties,struts-config.xml
    on this custom every thing is working fine but when on submit(Create User) it gives me below error
    in Admin Console : You do not have permissions to perform this operation.
    in App server log: maoRejections:You do not have permission to insert this object.

    My response is based on the following assumptions:
    Your custom form is similar to that of CreateUser form in all manners. The logic at the back-end has been written by you as well. As soon as you get all the values you call the createUser API of OIM to create the user. You have wriiten your custom action classes as well.
    The insert error may be due to the reason that the user which you are using to create the user doesn't have sufficient permissions. In other words, if this is done through Java code then while instaniating the API, the user used must be missing these permissions.
    If the error is due to this permission for users then we can give these additional permissions to individual users, if in case its not and you have some other scenario then just give me more details, probably I can help you for it.
    Thanks

  • Getting a bad bind variable error while compiling a custom form in R12

    Hi,
    I am getting a bad bind variable error while compiling a custom form.
    I tried setting the forms_path variable and I am still getting the error. Can anyone please suggest what can be done?
    DECLARE
    BEGIN
    IF :parameter.p_line_ship_to = 'T'
    THEN
    IF :SYSTEM.cursor_item = 'LINE.SHIP_TO'
    THEN
    :parameter.lov_num_param1 := :line.ship_to_customer_id;
    oe_lines.ship_to ('WHEN-VALIDATE-ITEM');
    :parameter.lov_num_param1 := :line.ship_to_customer_id;
    END IF;
    :parameter.p_line_ship_to := 'F';
    END IF;
    END;
    I am getting this error:
    Bad bind variable 'parameter.p_line_ship_to'

    The Parameter is not defined in the form.. But, this form is already been compiled and deployed.. I have to make some changes to the form and tried to compile it, when i am getting this error. Is it possible that the parameter would be defined in some other form or can this error be due to some other reasons?
    Thanks in Advance.

    There should be a link on the error page for further details about the error. Can you post the contents of that error link page ?
    Pl also check the Apache logs for any errors - see MOS Doc 419839.1 (How to enable Apache, OC4J and OPMN logging in Oracle Applications R12) for name and location of the Apache log files.

  • Is it possible to edit a custom form created in SPD 2010 in Infopath 2010

    I created a custom form in SPD, and need to use Infopath to further modify the form using features not available in SPD.  But I can't get Infopath to open the custom form. Even if I selected the custom form in SPD and then click "Edit with Infopath"
    in the ribbon, it still opens the default form.  From list ribbon, it also always opens the default form, there is no way I can pick the form I want to edit.
    Just want to confirm - Infopath can only edit default form (from SPD or the list ribbon), but not any form custom built in SPD.
    Correct?

    Hi QuickLaunch,
    When edit SharePoint list forms in Infopath 2010, it always opens the original default Edit Form of the list.
    It is impossible to edit a custom form created in SPD 2010 in Infopath 2010.
    I suggest you Customizing SharePoint List Forms

    Hi Galaxy
    Thanks for the inputs. I had downloaded all pll and plx from resource dir into the relevant dir of my local m/c. I have downlaoded the APPSTAND and APPTREE fmb also to the local directory. Where do you find the *.olb (object libraries) in the dir structure. The following command at $AU_TOP showed no files with olb extension
    find . -name *.olb -print
    Could anyone let me know where I am wrong?

    I am currently in a 11i to R12.1.3 upgrade and trying to open a custom form in R12. I compiled the form in forms builder 10.1.2.3.0 and in the db with no errors. When I try to open it in the apps it displays the following error messages:

    can i run customized form on my local PC. i have customizied a form which compile successfuly but when i run the form following error come.

    I understand. That’s you why have been requested to upload the form to the server and run it. If you had any issues in compiling the form, I would not ask you to upload the form. Instead, I would suggest you fix it on your client first.
    In brief ..
    You cannot run the form on the local machine, and you have to upload it to the server to do so.
    You should not upload the form to the server unless it compiles successfully on your client.

  • InfoPath 2013 customized forms no longer working after linking Sharepoint 2010 list to MS Access 2013 database

    Hello,
    I am having trouble with my infopath form now that I have linked my Sharepoint list to an Access database.
    Background:  I created a simple SharePoint list and a few workflows to have users submit requests for changes to my organization's EMR system and have those requests be approved by the appropriate manager/department.  I used
    InfoPath to customize my form so that it would hide/show different portions depending on what the user selected.  The form has 3 views: NewItem, EditItem, ViewItem.
    Issue: The form and workflows were working great until I linked my SharePoint list to an access database so that I could run queries and reports using that information. Now when I click "Add New Item" on my Sharepoint site,
    the correct form opens but the fields do not allow me to input any data and some of the formatting for the form has changed (ie: the text boxe fields are no longer centered.  I opened the form in InfoPath and it displays perfectly fine in there but
    not once it's published to the site) .
    The only way that I've been able to input new data is using Datasheet view in SharePoint.
    Is there a way to fix this issue?  I really need to be able to have the customized forms for users to fill out the information since most users are not familiar enough with SharePoint to expect them to be able to use Datasheet view to submit their requests.
    Again, I'm using InfoPath 2013, Access 2013 & SharePoint Server 2010
    If the issue cannot be fixed, how can I disconnect or unlink my SharePoint list from the Access database because when I cliecked on "delete list" from inside Access, a warning popped up stating that it will also delete the list off of SharePoint
    as well.  If I can get the list back to the state it was in before linking to Access then I'll be happy enough to export it excel and then importh the excel file to Access as a work around for reporting purposes since I don't have to run the reports that
    often.
    Any insight would be very helpful!!

    Hi Bostic,
    I tested the same scenario per your post in my environment, however the InfoPath form was not affected if I used the list as external data in Access database.
    The issue may be due to the browser you used.
    I recommend to verify the things below:
    Change another browser to see how it works.
    Add the site to the trusted zone and add to compatibility settings in Internet Explorer.
    Test with a new list to narrow down the issue scope.
    As a workaround, you can save the list as a template including content, and then create a new list based on this template.
    Learn how to Save a SharePoint List Template:

  • Infopath 2013 generic error message that displays

    In an InfoPath 2013 custom form that I created, I have several columns that are required. If the user does not enter all the data that is required, the automatic generic error message is displayed.
    I would prefer to make the error message that is more 'user friendly'. Thus can you tell me if there is a way to make the error message more user friendly? If so, would you tell me how to make the message more user friendly?
    The generic error message that is automatically displayed is:
    'InfoPath cannot submit the form because it contains errors. Errors are marked with either a red asterisk (required fields) or a red, dashed border (invalid values). use ctl+shift+O to go to the next error. Use ctl+shift+I to view error details'.
    Thus can you show me how to make this error message more user friendly in InfoPath 2013?

    Hi Wendy,
    All the error messages for the InfoPath form errors are stored in the intlcorestrings.js file which is located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\15\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\INC.
    If you want to modify the error messages, then you can modify that file to change the corresponding error message.
    Per my knowledge, the error you want to customize is IntlCoreStrings.k_strSubmitBeforeErrors and IntlCoreStrings.k_strSaveSubmitErrorInformation.
    You can change the two lines.
    Thanks,
    Victoria
