Information composer - possible to load to existing table?
Hi
Is it possible to use SAP Hana Information Composer to load data to an existing table inside Hana? All the scenarios i have seen are based on creating new tables based on Excel files.
Kind regards
Erik
You can use the DBMS_XMLQuery and DBMS_XMLSave.

Data Load to Oracle Tables.
Dear User,
I have a requirement where I need to create a new Apex application that will allow the Planning department to create Item Lists and Locations lists. They will build the lists based on values (location or Item) that they paste from their Spreadsheets into the Apex App.
Location list will be in the below Format.
"02-05-07-14-15-19-20-21-23-25-27-28-44-47-53-54-61-63-65-66-68-69-74-75-77-79-81-85-86-87-89-90-92-95-96-97-98-99-101-103-105-107-111-112-116-119-120-127-130-133-139-143-147"
And Item List will be in the below Format.
7310468
1009521
4490033
4490156
4490318
4490334
4490059
4490083
I need to load the Location List Data and Item_list Data into two different tables "Loc_List_stage" and "Item_list_stage". Every Location should be on a different line and same with the Item List.
Any Help or suggestion will be appreciated.
Thanks!
NSHi,
Go to: SQL Workshop -> Utilities -> Data Workshop
In the Data Load section choose: Text Data
Load To : Existing table
Load From: Copy and paste
Next choose the schema in which your table is present in which you want to load data
and then select the table name.
Then copy and paste the data to be uploaded and then can upload the data.
See if it works!

Is it possible to load or import 1 journal from file?
Hi to all,
We are searching how to load or import from and excel file some journals into the journal table of SAP BPC. As we have seen it is possible to load all the table but not only to add one journal to the table.
Anybody knows if it is possible to load 1 journal from file into SAP BPC and add it to the table of journals?
in a standard way or using logic??
Thanks a lot!!!!I don't think that there is a method available to ONLY add 1 Journal record, since the sequence of Journals is an Autogenerated key. The best way would be to simply add the Journal, so that the appropriate values are logged and tracked accordingly. The table may be loaded, since the "whole" table has a defined key for the sequence of Journal entered transactions.
Hope this helps. -
Range Partitioning Existing table
Hi,
I have a table with numeric field. I want to range partition the existing table. I used the following query
alter table dept add partition by range(deptno) (
partition p1 values less than (20),
partition p1 values less than (40))
It gives me ORA-00902: invalid datatype.
What am I doing wrong? Is it possible to partition an existing table?
Regards,
Subbu S.Hi,
You cannot partition an existing table with an ALTER TABLE command. There are couple of techinques with which you can partition an existing table, like:
1) Rename existing table, create a new partitoned table and move data.
2) Using DBMS_REDEFINITION package.
Have a look at the following links for details:

AWM dimension mapping - is it possible to load data from two input tables ?
Hello All
I have two tables ProductFamily (parent level) and Products (child level).
I want to load a dimension from these two tables where the parent-child relationships are maintained (I am using AWM).
I created a mapping with these two tables as input, but the data loaded does not maintain the relationships.
So how do I do that? Is it possible to load dimensions where different levels get data from multiple tables?
Is there any type of joiner available in AWM?
thanks
Few Notes:
- I do not want to use OWB here as my data is clean
- In AWM, When I loaded the data from a single view which contained data from both input tables, it worked fine. But this is my worst case option. You should use the Snowflake Dimension option in the Dimension mapping screen for the Product Dimension (as opposed to the default dimension mapping style - star schema).
This will modify the mapping inputs to include a separate parent level key for each hierarchy/level i.e. for each hierarchy/level (unless topmost level of hierarchy), you need to specify the parent level key in addition to the current level key, code/name/description/other attributes etc.
You can do the mapping in either .... use icons at the top of the mapping screen.
the drag/drop mode by dragging the relational column onto dimension model - hierarchy/level/attribute
-or-
the table expression mapping mode which gives the same effect.. dragging a column onto an attribute sets the expression in <schema>.<table>.<column> format.
HTH
Shankar
Note1: Complete the mapping in one go.. Switching b/w the mapping modes cause the mappings to be reset.
Note2: Assume your data is correct, foreign key to parent level table: ProductFamily exists in child level table: Products. -
Loading data from .csv file into existing table
Hi,
I have taken a look at several threads which talk about loading data from .csv file into existing /new table. Also checked out Vikas's application regarding the same. I am trying to explain my requirement with an example.
I have a .csv file and I want the data to be loaded into an existing table. The timesheet table columns are -
timesheet_entry_id,time_worked,timesheet_date,project_key .
The csv columns are :
project,utilization,project_key,timesheet_category,employee,timesheet_date , hours_worked etc.
What I needed to know is that before the csv data is loaded into the timesheet table is there any way of validating the project key ( which is the primary key of the projects table) with the projects table . I need to perform similar validations with other columns like customer_id from customers table. Basically the loading should be done after validating if the data exists in the parent table. Has anyone done this kind of loading through the APEX utility-data load.Or is there another method of accomplishing the same.
Does Vikas's application do what the utility does ( i am assuming that the code being from 2005 the utility was not incorporated in APEX at that time). Any helpful advise is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
AnjaliHi Anjali,
Take a look at these threads which might outline different ways to do it -
File Browse, File Upload
Loading CSV file using external table
Loading a CSV file into a table
you can create hidden items in the page to validate previous records before insert data.
Hope this helps,

How to update existing table using Data Load from spreadsheet option?
Hi there,
I need to update an existing table, but in Data Load application when you select csv file to upload it inserts all data by replacing existing one. How can i change this?
Let me know,
Thank you.
A.B.A.And how do you expect your database server to access a local file in your machine ?
Is the file accessible from outside your machine say inside a webserver folder so that some DB process can poll on the file ?
Or, is your DB server in the same machine where you have the text file ?
You will have to figure out the file acess part before automating user interaction or even auto-refreshing. -
Is it possible to create table variable by copying structure of existing table?
Greetings community,
It’s a newbie question.
I’m still learning T-SQL, and I’m not very familiar with its syntax, so I’m not sure if I’m asking something stupid. I’m creating a “stored function”. I need to create temporary table variable to do some “thinking” in it and spit out a
scalar result. Actually, I have to create about ten similar functions to process ten tables in similar way, so I was searching is it possible to speed it up.
I was wondering is there any way, instead of declaring table variable with list of gazillion columns (and having the possibility to mistype something), to declare table variable so it would inherit structure of existing table.
Thanks for any help.Temp table variable can not be created on the fly, but temp table can be created.
If you want just the structure, you can use the below.
SELECT Top 0
INTO #temp

Is it possible to load and read from an Oracle global temp table?
Is there a way to call an Oracle database package to pre-load global temp tables in BIP? I am an Oracle Reports user but a newbie to BIP. In Oracle Reports, I use the before-reports trigger to execute a database package that will populate a temp table with data. Then, in Oracle Reports, I read the temp table as the report data source. In BIP, I cannot find the ‘before-reports trigger’ equalivant. Since all the complicated business logic is contained in package it would be helpful to bring in the loaded temp table into BIP. Any thoughts?
Example:
Step 1. In the Oracle Reports before report trigger : exec db_package.load_temp_table_procedure (:var1, :var2, :var3);
Step 2: Select * from temp_table.Look at Datatemplates,
It has pre and post report trigger,
You can do all these stuff over there,

Is it possible to automate the load of setup tables for LIS datasources?

Yes we can !
Create variants for small ranges and scheduled all of them at a time. So that, loading will be completed soon.

First your subject asks a different question that the text you posted: Best way to change partition key on existing table. The answer to that question is YOU CAN'T. All data has to be moved to change the partition key since each partition/subpartition is in its own segment. You either create a new table or use DBMS_REDEFINITION to redefine the table online.
Why do you want to export all data to a file first? That just adds to the time and cost of doing the op.
What problem are you trying to use partitioning to solve? Performance? Data maintenance? For performance the appropriate partitioning key and whether to use subpartitions depends on the types of queries and the query predicates you typically use as well as the columns that may be suitable for partition keys.
For maintenance a common method is to partition on a date by year/month/day so you can more easily load new daily/weekly/monthly data into its own partition or drop old data that no longer needs to be kept online.
You should use a small subset of the data when testing your partitionings strategies.
Can you do the partitioning offline in an outage window? If not then using the DBMS_REDEFINITION is your only option.
Without knowing what you are trying to accomplish only general advice can be given. You even mentioned that you might want to use a different set of columns than the curren table has.
A standard heap table uses ONE segment for its data (ignoring possible LOB segments). A partitioned/subpartitioned table uses ONE segment for each partition/subpartition. This means that ALL data must be moved to partition the table (unless you are only creating one partition).
This means that every partitioning scheme that uses a different partition key requires ALL data to be moved again for that test.
Provide some information about what problem you are trying to solve.
>
Is this quicker than datapump?
>
Yes - exporting the data simplying moves it all an additional time. Ok to export if you need a backup before you start.
>
Found artcle which talks about using merge option on datapump import to convert partitioned table to non-partitioned table.
>
How would that apply to you? That isn't what you said you wanted to do. -
User-defined field in existing table
Hello,
I would like to know if it is possible to add a user-defined field in an existing table.
Actually, I would like to add a combobox with other types of partners than vendors, customers and leads and add a user-defined field in the OCRD table.

ThibaultHello,
Your answers help me a lot !
My code is working, i.e. when I create a new BP and choose another type in my comboBox, the information is saved.
When I search a BP who has this type, SAP find the good BP.
But, I don't see where the data is stored, I don't see anything which make the difference between 2 BP with 2 different types in the OCRD table.
So, where SAP can make the difference?
Thank you

Thibault
