InfoSpoke Destination.

Hi Gurus
InfoSpoke Destination.
I have a problem with the InfoSpoke Destination. I need to change the statical path to dynamic path, so I can transport the path without altering the path after the import to Q and P.
Currently I am using File Name as destination. So I have created a logical path and logical file. I have changed the destination to Logical File Name and assigned the logical file as the infospoke destination. This works fine.
Now I need to implement this solution to 50+ InfoSpokes and the catch here is: I have to create for each InfoSpoke one Logical File (50+ entries)
I have tried the available parameters in the Logical File creation, but InfoSpoke ignores them.
Does any one know a way how to make dynamical Logical Files please?
In case you use the FM as the return value, could please post the source code?
Thanks in advance
Martin

Hi Martin,
Logical File path is one time activity and u can assign all of ur Logical File names to it.. in FILE transaction..
As Logical File name belongs to individual Infospokes, u need to create the new Logical Files names individually for each one. and assign it with the Path.
I dont think that u have other option to proceed for creating the Logical File names for all 50+ Infospokes.. dynamically.. U have to create them manually.
And then transport them to the next level systems with overwrite mode along with the infopokes(which is with the Logical File names instead of the File name).
Thanks
Hope this helps

  • Infospoke destination problem

    Hi Guys,
I wnat to change the infospoke destination application server diretcory from default (DIR_HOME) to another directory.
    please help on this ..
    Thanks
    Shiva Muvva

    Procedure
           1.      In the main menu of the Data Warehousing Workbench, choose Tools ® Open Hub Service ® Edit InfoSpoke Enter a technical name for your InfoSpoke. You can also select a template.
           2.      Choose  Create InfoSpoke.
           3.      Enter a description for your InfoSpoke.
    Tab Page: General
           4.      On the General tab page, select a data source. You can use InfoCubes, DataStore objects, MultiProviders or InfoObjects (attributes or texts). Note that you cannot use input help to select a MultiProvder, you have to enter it manually.
           5.      Select a destination. You can also enter the technical name of a destination that you are about to create.
           6.      Select an extraction mode. See InfoSpoke Extraction Mode.
           7.      Specify the number of rows per data package for the data records to be extracted. You can use this parameter to control the maximum size of a data package and thereby control the number of main memories that need to be made available to structure the data package.
    Tab Page: Destination
           8.      Choose the Destination tab page and enter a description.
           9.      Select a Logical Target System.
       10.      Select one of the following destination types:
    ○     Database table: For the Deleting the Table Before the Extraction and Technical Key settings, see Extraction to a Database Table. You can also use the Notification to Third-Party Tool indicator to extract data from a third-party tool. See Extraction to Non-SAP Systems. In the RFC Destination field, enter the name of the RFC destination for your third-party tool. You can then choose Parameters to display the parameter table for the third-party tool.
    ○     File (CSV): Either choose Application Server or specify a local directory; specify a delimiter of type Character. If you choose the application server as the storage for the file, you can selectFile Name or Logical File Name from the dropdown box. If you choose Logical File Name, you get to the transaction for creating logical file names by double clicking on the field for the file name. See Extraction to Flat Files.
    Tab Page: InfoObjects
       11.      On the InfoObjects tab page, select the InfoObjects that you want to transfer. The available fields are displayed on the right half of the screen. You use the arrow keys to transfer them into the left half of the screen.
The Key Fields for the Table Start pushbutton allows you to place key fields at the start of the field list. With extraction to database tables, you have to extract a field list of this type. With flat files, you need to specify the field list sequence yourself.
    Tab Page: Selection
       12.      On the Selection tab page, you can restrict the selected fields even further. Only simple selections of single values and intervals are possible as restrictions. After you have confirmed your selection, you can use the Selection Category to exclude single values or intervals. To do this, click icon  or  (included) and then switch to  or  (excluded). The default setting is Included.
Extraction of InfoCubes with non-cumulative key figures:
Set the filter value for 0RECORDTP (record type) to u20181u2019. This ensures that all markers in the compressed data of the InfoCube are extracted. You can extract non-cumulatives by compressing the InfoCube in regular intervals and  extracting using 0RECORDTP = u20181u2019.
    Tab Page: Transformation
       13.      On the Transformation tab page, you can transform the data to be transferred using a BAdI. See InfoSpoke with Transformations using BAdI.
    Activating and Executing InfoSpokes
       14.      Choose Activate InfoSpoke  .
       15.      When the InfoSpoke has been activated successfully, choose  Extraction in the Dialog Process. A status log is displayed.
If you do not want to start extraction straight away, that is, you want to schedule it to take place at a later time, you have to include the InfoSpoke in a process chain. See Including InfoSpokes in Process Chains.
    Result
You have extracted data from an open hub data source into a database table or a flat CSV file.

  • How to use 'flat file extraction' option in Infospoke

    Hello Gurus,
We are trying to extract the BW data using Infospoke to a 3rd party ETL tool (Datastage). Now in the current BW 3.5 release, the customer is on SP11 and we are not able to extract any data using a 3rd party system option in Infospoke. Due to the fact, we found out from SAP, that since we are getting an error (3rd party system is not set)in infospoke, we have to upgrade the SP level from 11 to either 16 or 17. The customer that we are dealing with is not going to do that until July - 2007.
So now we have a second option to load the 'flat file' in BW App. server and FTP to Datastage. Is this something workable option?
When using that option within Infospoke destination Tab, we can see two options. One is to use File option and load the data within the standard DIR HOME. I tried that but I can't see the file and the entire data within the standard directory. Can anyone explain why and what will be the procedure to follow?
The second option is to use Logical file. I never done that before. Can anyone explain step by step process or provide the detail document and/or link?
Since we are at the critical timeframe stage, I would appreciate if I can get the faster response from the Gurus.
I will make sure to give 'reward points' to each and every helpful answer(s).
    thanks in advance,
    Maulesh

    Hi shashi,
first, let me clarify one thing here! I am not saying '3rd party tool' as an option in infospoke. I know Infospoke provides only two options (DB table, and file). But when you use DB table option, you check mark on 3rd party destination and that's where you define an RFC destination for 3rd party tool. So when you execute an infospoke, it will start extracting data and load into the defined destination. Since we are on SP11 on BW 3.5 release, we are getting an error while executing an Infospoke using 'DB table option'. The error is like '3rd party destination is not set'. When I went to Marketplace and found an OSS note, I found out that we need an upgrade on SP level (upto 17).
As I mentioned earlier, the client doesn't want to upgrade until next year, and we are at the critical timeframe stage, where we have to make a decision whether we hold this project until the SP upgrade happens or found alternate approach where we can extract the data from BW (somehow) and load into Teradata database via Datastage - BW Pack (3rd party ETL).
So we might be able to use the second option in Infospoke destination, which is to use 'Flat file' load.
Now when I use File option with App. server checked, the data loads into default Server and directory on BW. Which is DIR_HOME. I can see those file extracted and loaded into that directory under the transaction AL11. But I can't see any data. Do you think I have to request for an increase in size limit? If I see all the data, how can I FTP from the BW server? Do I have to work with SAP Basis or create a UNIX script?
When I use Logical file name, I guess I have to follow what you have described on your response, correct? Can i use an existing Logical path and file name? Do you have a 'How to' document on creating YEAR and PER FM? Is it possible that Basis can do this work for us? What happens after we assign a logical Path and logical file name into the destination tab on Infospoke? What is the use of logical file versus file? Overall, I am looking for a process from extracting the data from Infospoke using either file or logical file, all the way to load into 3rd party database.
      looking forward for your response!
    thanks,
    Maulesh

  • Infospoke.............urgent   issue

    Hi Experts,
    I have small doubt
I executed the Infospoke successfully without any errors in to  the applications server as CSV.File
If I try to see the values using AL11 transaction. it shouldn't display all columns I have around 100 columns it shows only few columns not all 100 columns (all fields in the target structure are not displayed).
why it is so happenend...........any suggestions please
    cheers

    Hi
Change the destination as local file in InfoSpoke-Destination tab. for this, uncheck the check box 'Application server' and select a destination on your local PC.
This downoalds two files to your PC, one is the structure infirmation suc as field name, length etc..and the second file is data file, which includes actual information.
    Hope this helps.

  • InfoSpoke error: Table could not be removed

    Delta enabled InfoSpoke
    Destination is table
Delete Table Before Extraction is checked
    Technical Key is checked
Extraction happens in a process chain
This has worked in the past, but failed today with the following error:
    /BIC/OHZIS_FII81 could not be removed
There is no short dump in the system around that time. SLG1 shows the failure, but no details. Nothing in system log.
This error message appears in the InfoSpoke monitor screen. How can I get further information on this error (without having to bother DBAs)?
Any idea what has caused this error? Is there anything I can do to prevent such failures in future?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I looked in SE11 just now. Table doesn't exist in the database (but exists in the dictionary, as expected).
Why did the extract fail after successfully deleting the table?
    Thanks.

  • BI 7.0 infospoke - how to change standard destination path on appl. server

    Hello,
    I have the following problem:
I need to extract large amounts of data from infocubes to flatfiles. I have created an infospoke to do this. However, in this infospoke, the destination path, when I choose application server, is fixed.
In BW 3.x, there is a document "BW 3.1 Open Hub Extraction Enhancement Using Literal Filename and Path.pdf" that describes how to change the destination path for the application server.
This solution does not work for BI 7.0, I get short dumps, probably due to ABAP OO.
I need to extract the data to flat files on the application server, not on my local machine, nor into a table in SAP itself, so I need to change the destination path, because the amount of free storage is limited in the standard destination path.
Has anyone encountered this problem in BI 7.0 and solved it?
    best regards
    Ting

Sorry, wrong subforum, will close this

    Hi Ting.
I never had a simmilar problem but, if you go to your InfoSpoke, right click --> "Change" you can see (and change... ) the following values:
Destination Type: FILE  (the one you have choosen)
Application Server: Check Box (I think this is your setting)
    Server name: (BW server)
Type of File Name: (Here you can choose Between "File Name" or "Logical File Name")
    Appl.Server File N: "MY_FILE.CSV" (for example)
Directory: (The directory you want - take a look at the end of this post )
    Separator: (The field separator)
Note : If you are working with Linux or Unix you have to look if the BW system user has the corresponding rigths to write in the FileSystem.
.          In the beginning I advice you to use something like this /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS<XX>/work
    Hope it helps.
    Regards.

  • Data selection in new Open Hub destination Vs Infospoke

In BW 3.5, we can use T code RSBO to create Infospoke, In the selection tab, we can use any infoobject in the source infocube as the data filterfor the infoSpoke, e.g I can set company code as 1002 etc, while in the new  BI 7.0, Open Hub Destination,  where I can achieve the same by set the filter for a specific infoobject in the source cude?

For Open Hub in BI7 we are creating transformation and DTP. The same resrtiction you can give in DTP (activate it after change).

  • Explain: how to include Infospoke in Process Chain where destination is  DB

Explain: how to include Infospoke in Process Chain where destination is  local machine database [NOT Flatfile]

    Hi vijay,
First you create an Infospoke with destination as a DB table in your local BI or BW Machine. Now add this infospoke by going through below steps.
    1. Call up the process chain maintenance. Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Process Chain Maintenance from the Administrator Workbench toolbar. The Process Chain Maintenance Planning View screen appears.
    2. In the left-hand screen area of the required This graphic is explained in the accompanying text display component, navigate to the process chain in which you want to insert your InfoSpoke. Double-click to select it. The system displays the process chain plan view in the right-hand side of the screen.
If no suitable process chain is available, you need to create a new process chain. You can find additional information under Creating a Process Chain.
    3. To insert a process for extraction by means of an InfoSpoke, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Process Types in the left-hand area of the screen. The system now displays the process categories available.
4.In the process category Loading Process and Post Processing, choose the application process type This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Data Export into External Systems.
5.Insert the Data Export into External Systems application type with Drag&Drop into the process chain. The dialog box for inserting a process variant appears.
6.In the Process Variant field, enter the name of the InfoSpoke that you want to include in the process chain, or select it by means of the input help.
Once You have added the infospoke you have to write a program which will fetch the database table that you filled and transfer the data fetched to other legacy system with the help of XI System

  • What's the difference between Infospokes and Open Hub Destination in BI 7?

I understand the API that a 3rd party tool uses to get data our of BW using infospokes.    Is it the same API that a 3rd party tools such as MS-SSIS uses?   Supposedly  that software only communicates with an OH Destination and not Infospokes.   So apparently is does use a different API.   If that's the case, where can I find documentation on that API for OH Destintations?

Open Hub Destination (OHD) replaced InfoSpokes as of BI 7 SPS 6, for Open Hub Service. Existing InfoSpokes can be used still, but it's recommended that any new retractions be created as an Open Hub Desitnation, because it exposes more functionality (e.g. Transformations and functionalities with DTPs).
Here's a document on [Open Hub Service - 3rd Party Integration|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/icc/bw-ohs%20open%20hub%20service%2c%20third-party%20integration.pdf] (see Page 7). Hope this helps.

There is no difference in both of them

the thing is info spoke is the concept used in prior to BI 7.0 versions.

  • CAN NOT TRANPORT INFOSPOKE FLAT FILE DESTINATION PATH

    Hi,
I am writing from infospoke to a flat file in application server. When I transported this to QA,  Application server Check box  is unchecked and path is changed to path in QA.
Do I need to have Logical File name in order to transport. If I have 5 infospokes do I need to have 5 logical file names or is there any way to pass a parameter ... .
Is there any other way to transport with out having File Name option instead of Logical File name?
    Thanks
    Krishna

    Hi Krishna,
You would need an ABAP program to change the entry in the table RSBFILE.
First try this. Goto se11 -> RSBFILE -> give your Infohub name and check if you have authorization to change the path.
    ELSE..
Write an ABAP program and update the field.
    REPORT test.
    tables: RSBFILE.
    update RSBFILE set PATH = '<your path>' where OHDEST = <your Infobub>.

  • Infospoke - How to single Logical Filename for all infospokes

    Hello all,
I want to only have one logical path and logical filename for all of my infospokes.
For example if I have infospokes ZAAA, ZBBB, ZCCC, I want to have only one common setting in the destination properties of TC:RSBO but three different distinguishable files on my OS.
I think with the standard settings, I have to make one logical file for every infospoke I have.
I am aware that I can put <DATE> or <TIME> etc in the logical file settings but that will not distinguish which infospoke the file came from.
I want my file to look more like <INFOSPOKE>_<DATE><TIME>.csv
I've already seen the document "How to Extract Data with OPEN HUB to a Logical Filename"  and this is not it because I have BW3.5 and 3.5 already does what this article says.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Just in case, I am on BW3.5 SP17 on Windows/SQL.

    Jasprit,
    Thanks for your input.
The functionality of the FM you said is similar to the InfoSpoke functionality...
    Is it the same thing?
I wonder if I use this it means it is not part of the InfoSpoke license...
I will have our programer look at it and see what he thinks but in the mean time any other information is greatly appreciated.  Especially if I can stick with using the standard InfoSpoke functionality...
Isn't this kind of functionality something that everyone wants?
I wonder why SAP didn't make it like this?
