Inheriting windows from a shared library

Hi,
Does anyone know whether in rel 2D of Forte' there is a run time bug when
you instantiate a window class which inherits from a window class that has
been put into a shared library ?
When we try to do this we always get the error:
USER ERROR: Attempt to build a run-time class failed. The project
'MySharedLibrary' does not have a class with id 0xbd.
Class: qqsp_UsageException with ReasonCode: SP_ER_PARAMETERERROR

Anyone have any thought on this?
There are two kinds of sharing in iTunes.
The one that has been there forever is "regular sharing," which allows you to look at and listen to the libraries of other iTunes users on the same network. This is the "read only" one you describe.
iTunes Home Sharing is new in the last 1 or 2 releases. Home Sharing allows you to copy files across, and is possibly what your friend is using. Unlike regular sharing, Home Sharing only works on computers that are authorized to the same account. More information is here: iTunes: Understanding Home Sharing.

  • How do you import all songs from a shared library?

I have 862 songs in my iTunes library on the family computer, and i would like to transfer them to my iTunes on my laptop. I already have home sharing on, and I can see the shared library on the iTunes on my laptop, but is there a way i can transfer all the songs from the shared library to the iTunes on my laptop without having to import each song on its own? Thank you in advance.

what you want to see in iTunes is this (view from my iMac's iTunes seeing the library on my Mini)
once the homeshared library has loaded, two buttons will appear in the lower right corner of the iTunes window, being settings and import.
now you should be able to import any content from any shared library by selecting (highlighting) it and clicking the import button.
via settings, you can select which newly purchased content is transferred automatically to homeshared libraries

  • How to prevent iTunes for Windows from "Updating iTunes Library"? (Library is on a NAS and managed by iTunes for Mac. Now getting update wars between Mac and Windows versions of the player.

How to prevent iTunes for Windows from "Updating iTunes Library"?
My library is on a NAS and managed by iTunes on a Mac. I can connect from wife's Windows laptop using iTunes for Windows but every time I do, it Updates iTunes Library. Next time I log in from my Mac it Updates iTunes Library in return. It appears I'm experiencing "Update Wars" between the Mac and Windows versions of iTunes. I would like to allow my wife to stream iTunes songs to her new laptop but I don't want any updates from this source... prefer to manage the library from my Mac and not allow Windows to do any thing other than listen to existing playlists.
    Thanks for any help/suggestions.

Connect the PC to the library on the NAS. Wait while "updated".
Under Edit > Preferences > Advanced make sure the media folder is correctly pointed at the media folder on the NAS. If not correct, close iTunes, wait a few moments, then open iTunes again.
Close iTunes on the PC. Do not open iTunes on the Mac.
Copy the library files, iTunes Library.itl, iTunes Library Extras.itdb, iTunes Library Genius.itdb, sentinel and the folder Album Artwork into an empty iTunes folder on the PC, for example C:\iTunes.
Click the icon to start iTunes and immediately press and hold down SHIFT. Keep holding until prompted to choose or create a library. Click choose and browse to the copied .itl file, e.g. C:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl
The library should now work properly on the PC, however check the setting for the media folder. If needs be correct, close iTunes and reopen.
Open iTunes on the Mac. It will update again, but that should be last time.

  • Using the Remote App and playing iTunes from a shared Library

I have a playlist set up in my main iTunes library on my iMac.  This is a shared library on my local network at home.  I can access and play the library remotely from my MacBook.  I want to move my MacBook outside with external speakers for a party.  I want to be able to access the shared library from the iMac inside the house from my MacBook and be able to control it with the Remote App.
My problem is that when I use Remote and the MacBook outside (I've set up the iTunes passcode with that computer and my iPod) it will only recognize the library on that computer, even if I am logged in to the shared library and it is visible in the MacBook.  So basically, remote is doing what it is suppose to do in a normal situation, but I need it to recognize and play from the shared library.
When I turn on home sharing on the iPod I can access all the libraries on the various macs in our house, but the music will only play out of that particular machines speakers.
I don't have wireless speakers, so I can't think of another way to do this.  Is there?
    Thanks, Sandy

Well, I've got it to work although not ideal.
    1. On my main computer (iMac) I created the playlist that I want available to control at a party.
    2. I went to iTunes settings/Sharing and selected "Share selected playlists" and checked the playlist I made for a party.
    3. I Linked my iPod to MacBook (which is outside with external speakers) using the 4 digit code
    4. iPod, Home Sharing Off
    5. Select the Library on iPod
    6. Select "More" (bottom right of iPod)
    7. Select "Shared" from the list that appears
    8. Select the computer that has the shared library
    9. Select the playlist (or lists if you created others)
This setting is allowing me to use my iPod "Remote App" to play an iTunes playlist (or the entire catalogue) from a shared library on my MacBook WITH the sound coming from my MacBook and NOT from my iMac where the original iTunes catalogue is located.
Not sure if this is the easiest way, but it's working.

  • Can you copy music to an iPhone from a shared library?

My main iTunes library is held on my iMac, but it's location means that it's not that convenient for me to use it as the primary computer to administer my iPhone with.  I also have a Macbook Air which I'd like to use to administer the phone, but it's only a 128Gb model so don't want to fill it or waste storage by duplicating my music library.
The Macbook is connected to the iMac's music library using home sharing, but does anyone know that if I set the phone up on the Macbook, would I be able to copy music onto it from the shared library, or am I restricted to that which is on the local Macbook library.
    Thanks in advance,

  • HT2688 How can I "click and drag" songs from one shared library to another?

I have home sharing activated on my mom's computer and mine and before the newest version of itunes, we were able to click and drag songs from one users' library into the other. We are not able to do that now and I wanted to know if there was a way to do this in the newest version of itunes.

I am using a Windows computer first off, not sure if that makes a difference,  When you say "click import" where is import.  I can not find anything that says "import" to click.

  • How to show PDFs from a shared library?

    Hi,
is it possible to share also PDFs from another library?
I am sharing my library from my own itunes account. It also contains PDFs and the whole library is shared. On the account of my wife my shared library shows up with all the music etc. However, it does not show the PDFs. Is this feature only available for eboks bought from the itunes store? How can I share my PDFs with iTunes?
Thanks in advance for any help on this!

This DLL is not a standard Windows DLL but a .Net Assembly. You need to use the .Net operators in LabVIEW to access it. Put the DLL in your LabVIEW project directory, drop a .Net contstructor node onto your diagram and then in the dialog that opens select the Browse button and point it to your DLL.

  • Why does a black triangle appear instead of landscape photos from a shared library

We have an iMac using OSX10.7.5 and running iPhoto 11 v9.4.1.
There are 2 users of the iMac with separate logins.  We have an iPhoto library that is user 1 administers and imports photos to, edits photos etc.  User 1 can access and see all photos without any problems in thumbnail or large scale/full screen under their login.
When user 2 accesses the photos on the user 2 login, all photos can be seen in thumbnail, but when double clicked to show photos at larger to full screen size, all portrait pictures show ok, but after a first landscape photo sometimes showing, the rest of the landscope photos produce (sometimes) a flash of the picture but then the area of the photo goes black with a warning sign, that is a triangle with an explanation mark appears in the centre of the screen.
If user 2 runs a slideshow, the portrait pictures show up, the screen is black/blank whilst landcsape photos would be shown
A very few landscape photos can be seen and they all appear to be files of less than 1.5mb, but this does not apply to all photos of less than 1.5mb.
The photo library has photos from 2 iPhone 4s, 2 Leica and 2 Nikon cameras of varying sizes. The problem does not seem to be associated with any particular camera.
User 2 (my wife) is very unhappy!
    Any help and insights welcome.
    Many thanks
    Wally

Where is this library located? If it's in the Shared folder then that's probably why you're having problems. But it's usually with permissions, not broken links/file path to the original photo that the exclamation mark is an indication of.
Your best and most trouble free solution is to put the library on an external hard drive that's been formatted OS X Extended (journaled) with owner ship set to be ignored:
You can try the following to fix the problem but be warned that the problme may manifest itself again after some use: make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Admin_client jar - add "remove-inherited" for oracle.jdbc shared library

    Guys,
I am using admin_client.jar utility which comes oracle 10.1.3 to deploy our web-application on the oc4j server, everythings is working fine, except for this small issue, where i want to avoid having the shared library "oracle.jdbc" inherited by web-module (which is by default inherited by all apps apparently), since i want to use the oracle-jdbc driver bundled with the war. Now i do that the solution is to introduce a "remove-inherited" tag (for the oracle.jdbc library) under the "inherited-shared-libraries" element in the orion-application.xml file (generated on deployment by oc4j), but what i want to know is how to automate this process of adding this entry, since we dont want to have any manual intervention on deployment.
Though admin_client.jar so far has provided all the functionality required for deployment but it apprarently doesnt any way where we can specify the shared-libraries not to be inherited by the deployed war..
    Any comments/suggestions ?
    Thanks and Regards,

    Alright that makes sense.
Yes, spot on. The suggestion I made was contingent on having an EAR file -- even though we accept a WAR file from you, we ultimately produce an EAR file from it during the deployment phase. If you don't want to produce an EAR file then its not viable for you.
Another possible solution is one that you are sort of suggesting here -- each application can be specified as a child of a parent application -- from which it will inherit various libraries and configuration settings.
What you could do is to deploy a single, dedicated application on which you configure the shared-library import to the JDBC driver you want -- and then you simply choose that application as the parent, whereupon the child application will pick up the shared-library setting.
There current, visible parent of all deployed applications is the "default" application. What you could do is to tweak the configuration of the default applicaiton so it uses a different JDBC library to the one it inherits from its actual parent (the system application). The configuration for the default application is contained within the j2ee/home/config/application.xml file -- which if you look at it, is actually an "orion-application.xml" file. So if you make the change there, it will apply to all the applications that are deployed to the container.
Just found it in the doc:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B32110_01/web.1013/b28952/classload.htm#CIHFFBCA
Even easier, what you evaluate is a simpler approach where you install and publish the Oracle JDBC driver you wish to use, with the name "oracle.jdbc" and set it with a higher version (which I assume you are doing) than the deafault one -- whereby from how the config in the application.xml is set and where the oracle.jdbc driver is imported, it should pick up the higher version -- so that way you don't even need to change the config file -- simply publish the later versioned library using the name oracle.jdbc and it should be picked up.
Currently the version in 10.1.3.3 is:
    <shared-library name="oracle.jdbc" parent="api" version="10.1.0_2">
So if you published the jdbc driver you want to use with the name oracle.jdbc and a higher version, then the import of oracle.jdbc will default to the latest version, which should pick up your library.
Thus all you need to do is a one-off publishing operation of a new shared-library (oracle.jdbc: 10.1.2.3 for example) and it then should be picked up implicitly by all deployed applications.
Worth testing my theory though ... ;-)

  • How do I download music from a shared library to an ipod?

So I shared my itunes library with my brothers macbook and it connected. Well now I need to know how to download my library on to my ipod from his computer. I can't do it from mine because my macbook is too old and I cannot afford an update. Please help!!

You can't. A shared library can only be played; you can't download from it nor sync from it. You must have the tracks on his computer to be able to sync them to your iPod.
If you have a MacBook, then you absolutely can get it to sync with any current iPod. If the Mac is still on Mac OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you will need to upgrade your version of Mac OS X to 10.6 Snow Leopard so you can run iTunes 10.7, but Snow Leopard is still available from the Apple Store for around $20 if you call them.
