Initialize an array of union types

Hi,
I'm trying to the use the C99 designated initializer feature to initialize an array of union types, but I'm getting a compiler error as shown below. Am I using the correct syntax?
#include <stdio.h>
union U
     struct {int data;} a;
     struct {int type; float data;} b;
int
main()
     union U x = {.b.type = 2, .b.data = 1.0};
     union U y[] = {{.b.type = 2, .b.data = 1.0}};
     fprintf(stderr, "x b data: %f\n",    x.b.data);
     fprintf(stderr, "y b data: %f\n", y[0].b.data);
     return 0;
}% cc u.c

  • How do I initialize an array after getting xml data via httpservice?

    I am having a problem trying to initialize an array with data from an external xml file obtained via httpservice.  Any help/direction would be much appreciated.  I am using Flex 4 (Flash Builder 4).

    I am using this following Tour de Flex example as the base -http://www.adobe.com/devnet-archive/flex/tourdeflex/web/#docIndex=0;illustIndex=1;sampleId =70500
    and updating it with the httpservice call and result handler.  But I cannot get the data to appear - I get [object Object] instead.  In my result handler code  I use "icdcodesar = new Array(event.result.Root.Row);"  and then "icdcodesar.refresh();".
    The key question is: How to I get data from an external xml file into an array without getting [object Object] when referencing the array entries.  Thanks much!

    Hello,
    Instead of extracting the first zero element from the vid array, you should take that out and connect it allone.

  • Error while assigning dates to associative array of date type

    Hi All,
    I am facing the issue while assigning dates to associative array of date type:

    Stored procedure i am trying to write is as following
    create or replace procedure jp1 (
    p_start_date date default trunc(sysdate,'MM')

        dbms_output.put_line(p_start_date + i);

    end;
    I am getting error at line 14 while compiling this. and the error message is as following:
    Errors for PROCEDURE JP1:

    15-DEC-13
    16-DEC-13
    17-DEC-13
    18-DEC-13
    I see the output as date itself. so why it is throwing error while assigning the same to associative array of date type.
    I tried to google also for the same but to no avail.
    Any help in this regard is appreciated or any pointer some other thread on internet or in this forum.

    Read about associative arrays :

  • Need suggestion for variable size array of primitive type.

    Hi all,
    I am working on a problem in which I need to keep an array of primitive (type int) sorted. Also I insert new elements while keeping it sorted, and at times I merge two similar arrays with unique elements.
    I would welcome suggestions on the implementation aspects as to which type/class to use. My primary consideration is performance. Here are my observations:
    1. type int
    Efficient operation, but arrays are fixed size so it makes clumsy code and overhead when the array is expanded or merged with another.
    Methods in class Arrays can be used, incl. binary search and sort.
    2. Vector, ArrayList, List, LinkedList
    Accept objects only. I can use Integer instead of int, but it will involve overhead, and I'll need to write my own sort and search routines (already done).
    For now, I choose option 2 using Vectors. Is there a better choice, or are there other options, given the conditions and consideration enumerated at the beginning?
    Appreciate any input or comments.

            for(int i = 0; i < n; i++)
                list.add(new Integer(rand.nextInt()));
            for(int i = 0; i < n/2; i++)
                list.remove(rand.nextInt(list.size()));
            long end = System.currentTimeMillis();
            System.out.println("objectsList -> "+(end-start)+" ms.");
        static void testPrimitiveList(IntArrayList list, int n, long seed) {
            long start = System.currentTimeMillis();
            Random rand = new Random(seed);
            for(int i = 0; i < n; i++)
                list.add(rand.nextInt());
            for(int i = 0; i < n/2; i++)
                list.remove(rand.nextInt(list.size()));
            long end = System.currentTimeMillis();
            System.out.println("primitiveList -> "+(end-start)+" ms.");
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            long seed = System.currentTimeMillis();
            int numTests = 100000;
            testObjectsList(new ArrayList<Integer>(), numTests, seed);
            testPrimitiveList(new IntArrayList(), numTests, seed);
    }In the test above, Java's ArrayList is about 5 times faster. But when commenting out the remove(...) methods, the primitive 3rd party IntArrayList is about 4 to 5 times faster.
    Give it a spin.
    Again: just try to do it with the standard classes: if performance lacks, look at something else.

  • Sort Second Element in Array of Strict Type Def Clusters

    I need to sort the an array of strict type def clusters by the second or third element in the cluster.  In the past I have used 1-D array sort and sorted by the first element of the cluster.  When I need to sort by the second, third, or fourth element of the cluster I just break down the cluster and rebuild it placing the desired sort element in the first position of the new cluster.  This works for simple tasks and clusters, but as the cluster gets more complicated this becomes a pain to do this.  There must be a cleaner way to sort by other elements within the original array of strict type def clusters.  Has anyone succeeded in doing this a different way?

    Hello,
    Here's the way I would do it...just create a new cluster array, where each cluster contains two elements...the unbundled item you want to sort by, and the cluster itself.  Then sort the new cluster array, then unbundle the sorted cluster array to get the original clusters (now sorted).  Here is a screenshot:
    There may be a better way, but this is the first thing I thought of.

  • Invoking stored procedure that returns array(oracle object type) as output

    Hi,
    We have stored procedures which returns arrays(oracle type) as an output, can anyone shed some light on how to map those arrays using JPA annotations? I tried using jdbcTypeName but i was getting wrong type or argument error, your help is very much appreciated. Below is the code snippet.

              this.teamMembersDetailsOT = teamMembersDetailsOT;
         public List<TeamMembersDetailsOT> getTeamMembersDetailsOT() {

    PROCEDURE get_user_team_roles (
    i_user_id IN ue_user.user_id%TYPE
    , o_team_roles OUT OBJ_TEAM_ROLES_ARRAY
    , i_debugmode IN NUMBER :=0)
    AS
    OBJ_TEAM_ROLES_ARRAY contains create or replace TYPE OBJ_TEAM_ROLES_ARRAY AS TABLE OF OBJ_TEAM_ROLES;
    TeamMembersDetailsOT contains the same attributes defined in the OBJ_TEAM_ROLES.

    A few things.
    You are not using a JDBC Array type in your procedure, you are using a PLSQL TABLE type. An Array type would be a VARRAY in Oracle. EclipseLink supports both VARRAY and TABLE types, but TABLE types are more complex as Oracle JDBC does not support them, they must be wrapped in a corresponding VARRAY type. I assume your OBJ_TEAM_ROLES is also not an OBJECT TYPE but a PLSQL RECORD type, this has the same issue.
    Your procedure does not return a result set, so "returnsResultSet=true" should be "returnsResultSet=false".
    In general I would recommend you change your stored procedure to just return a select from a table using an OUT CURSOR, that is the easiest way to return data from an Oracle stored procedure.
    If you must use the PLSQL types, then you will need to create wrapper VARRAY and OBJECT TYPEs. In EclipseLink you must use a PLSQLStoredProcedureCall to access these using the code API, there is not annotation support. Or you could create your own wrapper stored procedure that converts the PLSQL types to OBJECT TYPEs, and call the wrapper stored procedure.
    To map to Oracle VARRAY and OBJECT TYPEs the JDBC Array and Struct types are used, these are supported using EclipseLink ObjectRelationalDataTypeDescriptor and mappings. These must be defined through the code API, as there is currently no annotation support.
    I could not find any good examples or doc on this, your best source of example is the EclipseLink test cases in SVN,

  • VB Web service with arrays as variant type - access from java

    Hi, I have a VB service as an activex.dll running on IIS. My first experience with VB.
    The input type is variant, as VB will only handle arrays of that type. All works well with
    a VB client. It takes 2 arrays in and returns an array. The WSDL file using a complex
    type of
    <complexType name='ArrayOfanyType'>
         <complexContent>
              <restriction base='SOAP-ENC:Array'>
                   <attribute ref='SOAP-ENC:arrayType' wsdl:arrayType='anyType[]'/>
              </restriction>
         </complexContent>
    </complexType>
    I take this WSDL file to the client side, change the type to
    <complexType name='ArrayOfinteger'>
         <complexContent>
              <restriction base='SOAP-ENC:Array'>
                   <attribute ref='SOAP-ENC:arrayType' wsdl:arrayType='integer[]'/>
              </restriction>
         </complexContent>
    </complexType>
    and then generate the Java proxy using jdeveloper 9031. All is good and I call the service
    and get a response, which in turn gives me a result. the result.getvalue fails with a caste
    exception, [LObject[] to Integer[]. The return value is there, but it's type is Object, which I can
    see by inspecting response in the debugger. I am getting
    pretty sure it is not a Java Object, but a dom or sax Object. The DOM DocumentBuilder
    works for String to get the values, but not for this Object type. Does anyone know how to
    parse out an Object Type with DOM or SAX?

    A java type "Object" is parent class of all java instances - to parse it with DOM or SAX requires you to cast it to the required object type by that parser api - eg "Document" - check out the DOM and SAX api docuemntation.

  • How to map idl to java for "union" type

    help me

    I'm not exactly sure what you're asking for. If you've written IDL that uses an IDL union type, it will be converted to Java when you use your IDL to Java compiler (like idlj), right?
    If you're looking for the specification on how the compiler does/should do it, get the latest IDL to Java language mapping from the OMG -- www.omg.org.

  • Does TopLink support arrays of primitive types?

    Does TopLink support arrays of primitive types?

    You must use a collection.
    If you really wanted to you could store the data as an array and use get/set methods to convert between the array and collection, or customize your own ContainerPolicy, however arrays a very inefficent to add/remove from so TopLink only provides support for collections.

  • Union type information XSDSimpleType

    I am using classes in the oracle.xml.parsers.schema package to programmatically examine an XMLSchema and can't find a way to access information about a union type.
    Specifically, there doesn't seem to be a way to find the value of the declared memberTypes or inline declared enumeration.
    For example, in the following union declaration, I want to be able to find the memberTypes for "northAmerica" - which should be "canadianProvince" and "usState". How do I do this?
         <xs:simpleType name="northAmerica>
              <xs:union memberTypes="canadianProvince usState">
                   <xs:simpleType>
                        <xs:restriction base="xs:NMTOKEN">
                             <xs:enumeration value="other"/>
                        </xs:restriction>
                   </xs:simpleType>
              </xs:union>
         </xs:simpleType>

    Unfortunately I'm not trying to write an existing object into
    domain memory, but the entire class (method bodies/bytecode and
    all). I'm currently limited to creating the dynamic SWF in memory
    and using Loader.loadBytes, which is asynchronous.
    I guess what I was after is whether the type table is kept in
    domainMemory, or whether that memory is not directly
    accessible.

  • How to add array of file types to file dialog box

    Hi
    I just want to know how to add array of file types in file dialog box vi. I know that multiple file type can be added to filedialog vi in the pattern Input string separated by semicolon (eg *.vi;*.doc;*.jpeg;*.xls). But i want file dialog which is shown in the below picture.
    I think that file dialog vi call user32.dll but i don't have that header file to call that dll.
    Waiting for your esteemed response.
    Thanks & Regards

    I'm not sure how (or even if) it can be achieved using the LabVIEW built-in open dialog, but a .NET call to openfiledialog (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.forms.openfiledialog.aspx) can do what you're looking for. The .NET functions are better documentented that simple user.dll calls, so it might be easier to implement.

  • Combined declaration and initialization of array

    Hello All,
    What is the difference between the below mentioned arrat initializations?
    int myArray[]=new int[] {1,2,3,4,5};
    int myArray[]={1,2,3,4,5};
    but both of them behaves in same way.
    Regards
    Sojan

    The first creates an anonymous array and copies its reference in the variable myArray. The second implicitly creates and initializes an array (there isn't really a perceptible difference). However, the second can only be used in declarations. Consider the following:
    int[] iArray = {1, 2, 3};
    iArray = new int[] {9, 8, 7}; // works
    iArray = {9, 8, 7}; // doesn't work !!!Hope this helps,
    Pierre
