Inline popup sending contextual event to calling taskflow?

Is it possible?
Because of the returnListener not firing consistently, I was thinking of using contextual events. I am not sure, however, if that will work.
11.1.1.4
Basically I have a link, opens an inline popup to display a task flow as JSPX. Upon clicking on the okay button there, I want to fire an contextual event back to the
parent to refresh it's data.

Hi,
yes, this should work because the calling task flow also remains active

  • Contextual event - handler called before producer bean's setter

    I am trying a simple contextual events usecase:
    Page A.jsff has an input text field whose value is directly stored in a bean variable (bean is in pageFlowScope). Contextual event is defined on value change event for this input field. A.jsff has taskflow B_btf as an embedded region.This B_btf will simply display the value entered in the A.jsff. So, when contextual event is raised, the handler sets the value in a local variable of B_btf bean. The problem is that the handler method is getting called before the setter for the attribute of the bean of A.jsff. This is resulting in the B_btf displaying the last-but-one value entered in the input field of A.jsff instead of the current/latest value. Any tips?
    Thanks,
    Amitabh

    The issue was with the (lack of) understanding of the JSF lifecycle. The value change listener is called during the Process Validation phase, whereas the managed bean (Model) values will be set in the Update Model phase which lies next-in-line after Process Validation phase. Hence, if the value change listener is to be used, then the handler code should have used the default payload and not the custom payload. For a value change event the default payLoad will be a DCBindingContainerValueChangeEvent, and one can invoke getNewValue() to get the value entered in the text field (For details watch Frank Nimphius' video here: ADF Region Interaction - Contextual Events - YouTube). For my case, I added a command button to the page, and moved the contextual event to that button.

  • Help need on Validations in inline-popup task flow

    Hi,
    I create a adf application, which refer ready only table and in toolbar, there are some button, which used to insert and edit records. For insert and edit i used a edit.jspx page which come as a inline poup in taskflow. In inline popup i used a button called submit, which used for two purposes.
    1) To validate two fields(ex:- effectiveto should be greather than effectivefrom)
    2) To close inline popup.
    i have done the validaitons using a managedbean and facesconfig.xml validators. My problem is can i do this both requirements by pressing only submitt button, i mean if validation are passed then automatically close the popup.
    Really appreciate if anyone can help me on this issue.
    Yaham.

    Hi,
    use the button "action" or "action listener" property to close the popup. Validation is processed after the apply request phase in the JSF lifecycle and thus comes before actions to be executed, which will be in invoke application phase.

  • Capture Return Value from Contextual Events Subscriber Method

    Hi
    I was wondering if anyone knew whether you could capture the return value from a method exposed as  a subscriber for a contextual event?
    Requirement: We have 2 bounded task flows (parent-child) with the child task flow embedded as a region in a view activity in the parent task flow.  Based on an action in the parent task flow we raise a contextual event which calls an application module method exposed as a data control within the child task flow.  We need to be able to capture the return value from the method on the managed bean.
    Example method within child task flow application module:
    public String contextualEventSub(){
      Return "Y";
    So here we would like to capture String value when the event is raised by the event producer (parent task flow action).
    Within the Event Map on the page definition of the parent task flow view activity it is possible to set parameters to pass to the subscriber but it’s not obvious where you can capture the return value.
    Many thanks!

    I have dialogue(in-line popup window) which opens on click of button "viewPopUp" in parent window.
    I have a table and "select" button inside dialogue. I have contextual event created for this button inside child wondow.
    It never works for me. Its not calling the event handler method. But, If I add a contextual event for the button "viewPopUp" on the parent page works fine.
    Anybody faced similar issue?
    Any idea or tips to get it work?

    I use JDeveloper 11.1.1.5. I might be doing something wrong here. Do you have the sample code to share and test in JDeveloper 11.1.1.5? Is it running for you in JDeveloper 11.1.1.5 version?

  • Issue with nested inline popup taskflow while try to return back to parent.

    Hi Adf Experts,
    I have been facing one issue. Would you please give me how can I solve this issue which address my scenario. I greatly appreciate your help.
    My Scenario:
    I have ViewA which opens inline popup page ViewB. On ViewB also have another inline PopUp page ViewC (i.e. nested inline popup). On ViewB, there is back button which taskFlow return call and navigate back to ViewA. I need to implement same Back trigger event from ViewC (Back Button)to ViewA. For this, I am using ReturnListener on ViewB button which opens ViewC inline page. On returnListener, I have used ViewB back button ActionEvent queue. like:
         RichCommandButton buttonBack;
         public void onReturn( ReturnEvent returnEvent )
              ActionEvent ae = new ActionEvent(buttonBack);
              buttonBack.queueEvent( ae );
    Output Scenario:
    While running from ViewB, it fires same Back Button action from ViewC back button. No issue at all.
    But when I run from ViewA upto ViewC page and on fire back button, I have been facing issue like below.

    Hi,
    I have a similar issue.
    I have a page (search page) from where i open another dynamic tab(UI dynamic tab shell pattern).
    In this second tab, I open a new jspx using "dialog:open" in my taskflow (of the second tab).
    Now when I navigate to my first tab with advanced search and try executing my search, a managed bean method is called where I have a line of code as follows:
    DCIteratorBinding statusIter = (DCIteratorBinding)getBindings().get("myIterator");

    Is there any specific setting which should be done in a taskflow or a page which opens another page using dialog:openwindow?? And why does this effect any other taskflow?
    Any pointers to resolve this are appreciated.

  • Task flow-call  as a Dialog with inline-popup issue JDev 11.1.1.2.0

    I have a very serious issue with task flow-call running as a Dialog with inline-popup
    have bunch of data driven table components pointing to pageDefs with Iterators
    the problem is, the dialog comes first with nothing in it (blank) and it takes 3-5 seconds to fetch all views,
    this is useless, there is no option to control taskflow-call activation , like you do for af:region
    For reference : I am talking about this : http://jobinesh.blogspot.com/2010/08/refresh-parent-view-when-in-line-popup.html
    Download the workspace , connect as HR Schema and you will see what I am talking about
    looks really dumb, it would make sense to show dialog with data all at once, rarther than looking at blank screen to wait for the data to show up

    can I call this a bug?
    Edited by: user626222 on Sep 20, 2010 1:58 PM
    sometimes I wonder if anyone tested this, as soon as you have some data driven components on your page, you get all sorts of problems in ADF
    But something simple, Adf client side invokes the Dialog as a popup first, and then it thinks oh ya I get massive pageDef to load, so end-user customer will stare at the blank screen for 10 secs , hoping that something will come up or program is crashed
    Well, I am afraid to say you lost your customer :(

  • Taskflow as inline popup causes issues while returning..

    Hi,
    I am using 11gr1p1. I have an ADF application where I have a bounded taskflow I call as inline popup. And in the popup I return from the taskflow ..

    That is the problem actually. When I run the link directly it works fine. But I need to launch the ADF application from a non-ADF app which is not hosted on WLS.
    The scenario above was just to simplify the problem...
    Is there any security settings etc that may cause this ?

  • Contextual event closes the af:popup from which it is generated ?!?

    Hi all
    I have task flow (isloated mode) embedded as region in af:popup.
    One from my popup's button action generates contextual event.
    But that event unexpectedly closes my popup.
    Any idea why ?
    Here is relevant pageDef settings.
    From page fragment where is event generated :
        <action id="Commit" InstanceName="EmpAppModuleDataControl"
                DataControl="EmpAppModuleDataControl" RequiresUpdateModel="true"
                Action="commitTransaction">
          <events xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adfm/contextualEvent">
            <event name="empCommit"
                   customPayLoad="${bindings.VOIterator.currentRow.key}"/>
          </events>
        </action>From page fragment pageDef's where is consumer registered :
      <eventMap xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adfm/contextualEvent">
        <event name="empCommit">
          <producer region="createeditemptf1.create_edit_emp_dataPageDef.Commit">
            <consumer handler="receiveEmpCommit">
              <parameters>
                <parameter value="${payLoad}" name="incPayLoad"/>
              </parameters>
            </consumer>
          </producer>
        </event>
      </eventMap>Notice "receiveEmpCommit consumer.
    This is a parent task flow backing bean method, registered as method action in the same pageDef, according to the Steve Muench example
    ".Method Action Invoking Managed Bean Method Without Making Bean a DataControl"
    https://blogs.oracle.com/smuenchadf/resource/examples
    And here is:
         <methodAction DataControl="EmpAppModuleDataControl"
                    id="receiveEmpCommit"
                    InstanceName="${searchEmpBacking}"
                    MethodName="receiveEmpCommit">
          <NamedData NDName="incPayLoad" NDType="oracle.jbo.Key"/>
        </methodAction>So, what is wrong with this settings, any idea ?!?

    Thanks for response.
    Yes, it is (af:commandToolbarButton with default partialSubmit="true")
    Actually, everything works as exceptted, until "receiveEmpCommit" consumer is registered in the pageDef.
    And to be worse, that method does nothing, he is empty.

    The button should be configured to do a partial submit (i.e. partialSubmit="true"), otherwise it will close the popup because the inline popups are not re-rendered when a full submit is made. Please check if your button is configured for a partial submit.

  • Error 500--Internal Server Error while opening a taskflow  in inline popup

    Hi,
    I am getting "Error 500--Internal Server Error" while opening a bounded taskflow as a popup from another bounded taskflow containing page fragments. The popup taskflow contains jspx pages. I even removed the jspx pages from the popup taskflow to check if the error is resulting from the bindings on the pages but still I get the same error. The entire stack trace of the error in the popup dialog is :

    Hi Frank,
    Thanks for the reply. I am using it as an inline popup. I am trying to create command links dynamically in an iterator. When a link is clicked a popup window opens. The text of the link is passed to the popup window by creating a variable in the session scope ( I even tried request scope) by an action listener in the backing bean.
    I tried to create another simple application with a static command button which passes its text to popup window through a session scope variable. It worked fine. I am not sure why the same procedure is not working in my original application. Can you give me a hint what could possibly go wrong according the exception stack trace ?
    Thanks,

  • Calling a method on backing bean in response to contextual event

    Hi
    I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.6.0 and using ADF contextual events..
    I have a drop down list and i am rasiing a contextual event on changing the current selection. In response to that event i want to call a backing bean method with parameters.. But when i click on the subscriber section for the contextual event, i can see only some bindings of the page.. How can i call a method on backing bean as a subscriber..
    Thanks

    Hi,
    this article has a use case for the POJO approach: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/issue-archive/2011/11-may/o31adf-352561.html
    Another is to define a method binding in the receiving PageDef file and configure it as explained here

  • Dynamic TaskFlow Gets Refreshed on Catching a Contextual Event

    Hi,
    I am using Contextual events in my application. I have 2 task flows in my parent page. One TF is raising an event and the other is catching it. As my catching TF is a dynamic TF, I have specified the event map in it only.
    Everything is working as intended only that my dynamic TF gets refreshed when it catches the event! I do not want that. I want to explicitly refresh any UI component that requires to be refreshed, not the whole TF.
    So is there any specific property of task flows that make it to refresh itself when ever it catches any contextual event?
    Also I have tried 'Refresh="ifNeeded"' and 'RefreshCondition="#{false}"' in my dynamic taskflow specification in the parent page but it does not make any difference.
    Regards,
    Rahul Saxena

    Rahul,
    there is no setting for this. If however the managed bean you setup for handling the dynamic region is in backing bean scope (or request scope) then chances are that the region is refreshed because the bean restes after the request (just assuming here). Yournot giving us much to chew on (no JDeveloper version, no implementation details etc. ) So its hard to provide further ideas. As a last resort, if you have a support contract, you can contact customer support with a test case

  • ScrollBar Behaviour of ADF Taskflows rendered as Inline Popup

    Hi All,
    I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.5.
    I have created a bounded Taskflow and then i have used two other taskflow in my current taskflow as Inline Popup.Functionality wise everything works fine but if my given taskflow size i.e the window width and height parameters are small then the page content then automatically the Scroll bar comes into the Taskflow at runtime.
    It is good to have a scroll bar automatically but it doesn't work in a correct manner. When my page render , the scroll bar is situated at the edges of the taskflow .Now if i go down , automatically scroll happens and comes to the default position.
    This makes users bit in a hazy situation. I don't want the scrollbar in the ADF Taskflow which rendered as Inline Popup.I want the scrollBar inside thr page which can help users to do scroll in a proper way.
    Is there any way to achieve this ?
    Regards,
    Shah

    Hi All,
    Any suggestions please on this.

  • Calling taskflow as an inline-poup from a page fragment

    The ADF Controller cannot execute task flow '/WEB-INF/task-flow-definitionxml#task-flow-definition' that uses page fragments in the root view port.
    Now what if you want to do this, I have a use case, feeling stuck , using JDev 11.1.1.2.0

    Hi,
    You can create a page based task flow and call it as an inline popup from your fragment based task flow.
    It should work.

  • Contextual Event refresh/redraw issue between 2 regions (taskflow w/ jsffs)

    Working on JDev 11.1.1.2.0
    I have one jspx
    which contains 2 regions - bounded taskflow with jsffs
    Now, I want to communicate between region1 and region2
    so, producer is : region2pageDef and consumer is: region1pageDef, and Handler is pointing to a Java Bean Data Control , listening for ActionEvent
    Contextual events works fine as expected , but when region1 listenes the contextual event , at that time entire jsff gets refreshed / redrawn, why?
    How contextual event works from the ADF side ,and what causes it to redraw the page fragment
    Thanks

    When I have 3 dynamic regions on a jspx page, where every region loads taskFlow with jsff page.
    One of the pages produces the contextual event, the other receives the contextual event and the 3rd one does nothing.
    Then 3rd region is not refreshed. It works correctly.
    But when I place eventMap in the pageDef of the jspx page, then all regions are refreshed no matter if they receive the contextual event.
    This is not the right way. Why is that? Do you have an idea?
    I am using JDev 11.1.1.3.0
