Input Validator : FocusLost event handling

I am new to working with FocusListener and I am trying to use it validate the input of a textfield to be an integer.
This seems like a seemingly simple thing to do, but I am getting errors.
Here is a portion of the code where I make the textfield and assign it to a focus listener.
InputValidator i = new InputValidator();
resolutionlabel = new JLabel("Resolution: ");
p.add(resolutionlabel);
resolutiontextbox = new JTextField("3200");
resolutionlabel.setLabelFor(resolutiontextbox);
resolutiontextbox.addFocusListener(i);
p.add(resolutiontextbox);Here is the important parts of the focus listener code:
public class InputValidator extends FocusAdapter
    public InputValidator()
    public void focusLost(FocusEvent event)
     validate((TextField)(event.getSource()));
    private void validate(TextField field)
}The error I am getting is on the line where I call the validate function and is listed as :
java.lang.ClassCastException: javax.swing.JTextField

this might be an alternative way - it won't accept non-digit characters
import javax.swing.*;
import java.awt.*;
import javax.swing.text.*;
class Testing extends JFrame
  public Testing()
    setLocation(400,300);
    setDefaultCloseOperation(EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
    JPanel jp = new JPanel();
    JTextField tf = new JTextField(new NumberLimiter(),"3200",10);
    jp.add(tf);
    getContentPane().add(jp);
    pack();
  class NumberLimiter extends PlainDocument
    public void insertString(int offs, String str, AttributeSet a) throws BadLocationException
      char[] characters = str.toCharArray();
      for(int x = 0, y = characters.length; x < y; x++)
        if(Character.isDigit(characters[x]) == false)
          java.awt.Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().beep();
          return;
      super.insertString(offs, str, a);
  public static void main(String[] args){new Testing().setVisible(true);}
}

  • Input value given on web page is not getting pickedup in event handler

    Hi friends,
    I have created one simple page in SE80 with program with flow logic option, in which I would like to show business partner details from BUT000 table with the input of partner number. But the thing is the input value(partner no.)which I am giving on web page is not getting picked up in selection in event handler though I am giving input value it is becoming initial while selecting. What could be the reason?
    Below I am mentioning the code which I have written in even handler for OnInputProcessing event.
    CASE EVENT_ID.
    WHEN 'select'.
    NAVIGATION->SET_PARAMETER( 'partner' ).
    SELECT * FROM but000 INTO TABLE I_but000 WHERE partner BETWEEN partner AND partner1.
    WHEN OTHERS.
    ENDCASE.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Help needed in implementing validation event handler in OIM 11g

    Hello experts,
    I am trying to set username policy by implementing a validation event handler in OIM 11.1.1.5.
    Following are the steps followed
    1. Import metadata
    Created a file called Eventhandler.xml as below and imported using weblogicImportmetadata.sh
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
    <eventhandlers xmlns="http://www.oracle.com/schema/oim/platform/kernel" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.oracle.com/schema/oim/platform/kernel orchestration-handlers.xsd">
    <validation-handler class="test.iam.eventhandlers.CustomValidationEventHandler" entity-type="User" operation="CREATE" name="CustomValidationEventHandler" order="1000" sync="TRUE"/>
    </eventhandlers>
    2. Register plugin
    plugin.xml
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <oimplugins xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
    <plugins pluginpoint="oracle.iam.platform.kernel.spi.ValidationHandler">
    <plugin pluginclass="test.iam.eventhandlers.CustomValidationEventHandler" version="1.0" name="CustomValidationEventHandler" />
    </plugins>
    </oimplugins>
    Just givng sys out in the below code to check whther it is getting triggerred during user create.
    package test.iam.eventhandlers;
    import java.util.HashMap;
    import oracle.iam.platform.Platform;
    import oracle.iam.platform.context.ContextAware;
    import oracle.iam.platform.kernel.ValidationException;
    import oracle.iam.platform.kernel.ValidationFailedException;
    import oracle.iam.platform.kernel.spi.ValidationHandler;
    import oracle.iam.platform.kernel.vo.BulkEventResult;
    import oracle.iam.platform.kernel.vo.BulkOrchestration;
    import oracle.iam.platform.kernel.vo.Orchestration;
    public class CustomValidationEventHandler implements ValidationHandler {
         @Override
         public void initialize(HashMap<String, String> arg0) {
         // TODO initialization
              System.out.println("init validate event handler");
         @Override
         public void validate(long processId, long eventId, Orchestration orchestration)
         throws ValidationException, ValidationFailedException {
              System.out.println("Beginning of validation");
              System.out.println("End of validation");
         @Override

         throws ValidationException, ValidationFailedException {
         // TODO - N/A
              System.out.println("Bulk Orchestration not yet implemented");
    Now when i create a user it is not allowing and i am getting system error in the front end and in the logs i could see something below
    <May 28, 2012 3:03:29 PM CEST> <Error> <oracle.iam.identity.usermgmt.impl> <IAM-3050029> <The user cannot be created due to validation errors.

    I have implemented preprocess and postprocess event handler before with similar kind of plugin registration, metadata import and everything worked fine. Not sure what is the problem here with validation event handler.
    Thanks
    DK

    Instead of registering the plug-in can u try placing it in the plugins folder under Oracle_IDM1/server folder.
    at times restart is required. esp when the server is running in production mode.

  • Validation Event Handler Not working with Flat File GTC Trusted Recon

    We are created Event Handler for checking special characters in Telephone field.Its working fine when the user is created through Admin Console.but the event handler is not triggering while doing GTC Flat File Trusted recon.

    Validation Event handlers will not work with your trusted recon. You can use the GTC Validation provider, it is nothing but the plugins which you can insert with in your source field in GTC. I think you can easily get the steps for how to create a custom GTC Providers.

  • Validation Event Handler Not working with GTC Recon???

    We have implemented a Validation Event Handler on user entity.
    In the code we have implemented both the execute methods i.e. Orchestration andf Bulk Orchestration. We have created a UDF for Manager field and our validation handler checks whether the user in Manager UDF field is an Active user in OIM or not. In case the user is not an Active user, code will throw a Validation Failed Exception.
    At the time of changing the Manager UDF value from the Console directly Validation Event Handler is getting triggered but with GTC Recon Validation Handler is not Working.
    Previously i faced the same issue with the post process event handler but the problem get resoved when i implemented execute method with Bulk Orchestration. As per my understanding Bulk Orchestration exceute method gets called with GTC Recon and execute method with Orchestration gets called when changing the attribute value directly from the console.
    In case of Validation Event Handler i have implemented both but still validation Event handler is not working with GTC.
    Thanks in Advance....

    Any Help????

  • Event handler for STDIN input?

    Hi,
    This question will probably require a bit of context - I'm attempting to re-implement in java an application that's currently written in perl. The application is a server helper app that rewriters urls; it receives a request ID and a URL on stdin, does the necessary munging (which can require an external SOAP query), then returns the resulting rewritten URL.
    Since the results can be asynchronous due to the need for external queries to build the result, this is currently a multithreaded perl app implemented using perl's POE framework to register an event handler for stdin. That handler fires each time a line of input is received, then feeds the query to a thread pool manager (POE::Component::Pool::Thread, which is conceptually similar to the Executor frameworks). The thread returns the result as a callback registered to another function in the main thread, which then populates the query/result to a cache then outputs the result (with the original query ID) on stdout. Since stdin input and the result callbacks are event-driven, there's no while(true) main loop or other blocking mechanism in the main thread. Unfortunately, it's perl-ness is causing problems due to perl's threading implementation (three words: "copy on init"), so we need to reimplement in a language with a more robust threading implementation (preferably one with copy-on-write for shared objects). So, Java it is.
    So far everything's been good - Executor, Callables, and Futures work as I hoped they would for proper thread management, and the internal worker thread logic (XML processing, SOAP, regular expressions, etc) is proving rather simple to adapt. However, the main roadblock I'm hitting is that so far, I have not found a way to register any sort of event handler for STDIN input (or more specifically, InputStreamReader/BufferedStreamReader events). This could be due to search engine pollution - everything I see when I search for documentation on event listeners appears to be GUI-specific (buttons, menus, text areas/forms, etc). I'm just looking for a way to handle a line of STDIN, not a text area on a form.
    Any pointers in the right direction will be much appreciated!

    rekoil wrote:
    Maybe I need to rethink the design here...
    The main reason I used a callback in the original perl is that there's a large cache structure that gets checked before the thread dispatch, and only cache misses get pushed to a thread for processing. Callbacks from the threads will then add its results to the cache. Thanks to perl's thread model, when I attempted to make the cache a shared structure - in perl, you have to explicitly mark as "shared" variables that you want visible to all threads - the structure wound up getting copied to every thread, and this gave the app an unacceptable memory footprint. So the solution was to use a callback in the main thread to update the cache.
    I'm now thinking that if Java's thread model is a bit saner (i.e. a shared object doesn't get copied into every thread), then I could just have each thread update the cache, print its output to STDOUT directly, and avoid the need for the callback. I can then make my input loop simply a while() loop, waiting for the next input to dispatch. Sound sane?Yes I think so.
    There is some of this I still don't entirely understand. Your loop sounds better now but it sounds to me like the process is this.
    1) read from in
    2) call some stuff on the basis of what came in
    3) do work
    4) workers produce things
    5) things written back out
    6) read back in??
    If you're just going in/out then great. If you are going in/out/in then maybe some sort of PipedInput/Output Streams? It may well be that I got lost in your explanation in which case never mind.

  • Dynpro: event handling on input field in custom control?

    Hello,
    can I  put an input/output Field in Custom Control?
    I have seen this (DD_ADD_FORM_INPUT) but i dont need a Form.
    What i want to do is: Double Click Event handling on the input field in the custom control.
    Thank you?

    Hi Mohi,
    OK, you could reduce DD_ADD_FORM_INPUT to what you really need - but the DD elements (rarely if ever used in standard SAP) do not have a double-click event. Must stick to ENTER.
    An alternative is a text_edit or an editable grid_control with one line one field.
    The problem is: There is no way to put any selection-screen element on a control.
    I's go for the grid approach as you certainly may have some more fields of interest.

    Clemens.

  • HTMLB .. Input field event handling..

    Hi guys,
    I have a input field htmlb in my jsp. I have to handle on blur event for this.. i.e if a user gives in somethin in the input field and once it looses focus, a event should get triggered. And probably in my case it will be helpful for me if I have this event handler method in the dynpage. For this kind of event handling what should I write in the followin tag
    <htmlb:inputfield id="" value="" width=""> plz tell me a tag attribute which supports this event.
    Regards,
    PP.

    Hi Priyanka,
                      You can get reference of your input field in JSP into DynPage. Do like this:
    Declare input field in JSP
    <hbj:inputfield id="input"  value="test">
    In DynPage, get refernce of the input field
    Wherever you want to trigger event
    InputField myInputField =(InputField) getComponentByName("input");
    myInputField.setClientEvent();
    Hope this helps.
    regards,
    Siva
    Note: If you get success, please post the solution before you close this thread.

  • Update password custom scheduled task orchestration event handler issue

    Hello experts,
    I am trying to run a custom scheduled to update user password in OIM 11.1.1.5
    Consider there are 5 users in the input feed file
    TSTUSR1
    TSTUSR2
    TSTUSR3
    TSTUSR4
    TSTUSR5
    Problem i am facing is when update of change password fails for a user then for the subsequent users also its getting failed. Say for TSTUSR3 the change password is failed for some reason (consider user not present) then for TSTUSR4 and TSTUSR5 also it is getting failed.
    Note: here the changepassword for TSTUSR4 and TSTUSR5 is getting called but i am getting some orchestration event handler exception as below.

    It shouldn't but this is an OIM issue. handle yourself the possible cause.
    Myself experienced the same and it was because of policy failure.
    Try to put below check before password update.
    import oracle.iam.passwordmgmt.vo.ValidationResult;
    import oracle.iam.identity.usermgmt.vo.User;
    import oracle.iam.passwordmgmt.api.PasswordMgmtService;
    User searchedUser = null;
    ValidationResult validationResult = null;
    PasswordMgmtService pwdMgmt = Platform.getService(PasswordMgmtService.class);
    searchedUser = userAPI.getDetails(resultSet11g.getString("USR_LOGIN"), null, true);
    //Check if password is as per attached password policy
    validationResult = pwdMgmt.validatePasswordAgainstPolicy(password.toCharArray(), userLogin, searchedUser.getLocale());
    logger.debug("Result" + validationResult.isPasswordValid());
    if (validationResult.isPasswordValid()) {
    //Change the password
    userAPI.changePassword(username, password.toCharArray(),true);
    I suggest even validate if user exist or not.you can handle it using serchedUser(in above code). The above code validating policy only.

  • How can I execute an external program from within a button's event handler?

    I am using Tomcat ApacheTomcat 6.0.16 with Netbeans 6.1 (with the latest JDK/J2EE)
    I need to execute external programs from an event handler for a button on a JSF page (the program is compiled, and extremely fast compared both to plain java and especially stored procedures written in SQL).
    I tried what I'd do in a standalone program (as shown in the appended code), but it didn't work. Instead I received text saying the program couldn't be found. This error message comes even if I try the Windows command "dir". I thought with 'dir' I'd at least get the contents of the current working directory. :-(
    I can probably get by with cgi on Apache's httpd server (or, I understand tomcat supports cgi, but I have yet to get that to work either), but whatever I do I need to be able to do it from within the button's event handler. And if I resort to cgi, I must be able to maintain session jumping from one server to the other and back.
    So, then, how can I do this?
    Thanks
    Ted
    NB: The programs that I need to run do NOT take input from the user. Rather, my code in the web application processes user selections from selection controls, and a couple field controls, sanitizes the inoputs and places clean, safe data in a MySQL database, and then the external program I need to run gets safe data from the database, does some heavy duty number crunching, and puts the output data into the database. They are well insulated from mischeif.
    NB: In the following array_function_test.pl was placed in the same folder as the web application's jsp pages, (and I'd tried WEB-INF - with the same result), and I DID see the file in the application's war file.
            try {

    One way to execute an external program is to use the System Exec.vi. You find it in the functions pallet under Communication.

  • How to make Vi file as input file in Event structure?

    Hiii All..
    i got problems when to construct a event structure. The file input  (vi format) doesnt have source of wire connection to conect the wire (shift register) .For your information the vi that i create only contain simple mathematical equation.
    I already study the New Event Handler Example. but the file input for that example (acquire data.vi) have a source of connection. anyone can help me?
    thank you very much

    Well, in your subVI you do need to wire up some inputs and outputs to your connector panel.  As I said, a basic LabVIEW skill that you will find in the tutorials.
    You have a number of inputs to your subVI.  More than you would want to attach to a connector panel.  You should perhaps use a cluster to group them together.
    To get you started, here are the steps to connect a control or indicator to the connector panel.
    1.  Open subVI.
    2. Right click on icon at upper right.  Show Connector.
    3.  Hover over a block you want to be a connector terminal, it will change to a spool of wire.  Click.
    4.  Go to the control or indicator on the front panel that you want to associate it with.  Click again.
    5.  Repeat as needed for other controls and indicators and save your subVI.  Now the subVI instance in your main VI can have wires connected to it.
    You should plan your connector panel so that controls are on the left side of the panel, and indicators on the right.  This will allow data to "flow into" and "flow out of" the subVI in a normal looking left to right orientation.

  • OIM 11.1.1.5: Post Process Event Handler, change password notification

    Hi,
    Products
    OIM 11.1.1.5 BP02
    OAM 11.1.1.5
    OID 11.1.1.5
    Problem
    I have written a post-process event handler which fires when a role is assigned to a user. The event handler calls a plugin which uses the UserManager API to generate and change the user's password.
    I've tested this by assigning a role to the user via the OIM web console. I can see my log messages indicating that the event handler has fired and that the password has been changed.
    However, I expected that when UserManager.changePassword completed, a notification email would then be sent to the user informing them of the new password, but no notification email has been sent.
    The email notifications have been set up correctly, because I have changed the same user's password via the OIM web console and successfully received a Reset Password email.
    So, my questions are:
    1) Am I right in thinking that when you call UserManager.changePassword(), an out-of-the-box ResetPassword email notification should be sent to the user?
    2) Has anyone got this working in 11.1.1.5?
    Some more detailed info
    In my plugin class I'm calling the following from both execute methods (EventResult and BulkEventResult):
    char newpasswd[] = new RandomPasswordGeneratorImpl().generatePassword(user);
    getUserManager().changePassword(userKey, newpasswd, false, null, true);
    logger.info(("Successfully changed password"));

    No notification will be sent if you changepassword using the method from usermanager api.
    You have to trigger the resetpassword event manullay in your code.
    Here is a sample code to create an event for reset password. Once you create event, invoke it from notification service - notify method.
    NotificationEvent event = new NotificationEvent();
    String[] receiverUserIds= {userLogin};
    event.setUserIds(receiverUserIds);
    event.setTemplateName("ResetPasswordNotification");
    event.setSender(null);
    HashMap<String, Object> resolvedData = new HashMap<String, Object>();
    resolvedData.put("userLoginId", userLogin);
    event.setParams(resolvedData);

  • Can we apply an event handler only for a custom request in oim 11G?

    Hi,
    We would like to create a custom request for user creation, modification etc.
    I saw that event handlers allow to add business rules by running java code during differents steps of processes.
    I would like to know if we can trigger an event handler on a specific request and not on all user CREATION, UPDATE etc.
    For example, we would like to have differents creation requests and a differents event handler on each request.
    And can we add "logical" input on request form and read them in event handler?
    For example, 3 inputs: day, month and year on the form which fill one user attribute "end contract date".
    Regards,
    Pierre

    thank you Akshat,
    I saw part 19 in the developper's guide. If I understand, I can change the default CreateUserRequestData to define ALL form components that will be used in my differents user creation request templates.
    I can use prepopulation adapter to pre populate field with java code.
    I can use the plug-in point oracle.iam.request.plugins.StatusChangeEvent to run custom java code.
    But they don't mention where you can run java code for a specific creation template named "MyUserCreationTemplate1" and other java code for an other specific creation tempalate" MyUserCreationTemplate2".
    That makes me think we must retrieve the template name in java code and execute the appropriate business logic.
    if request name==MyUserCreationTemplate1

  • Event Handler/Create User Event bug

    This is a problem I've run into a few times on my system (Win2k) so I finally went back and reproduced it step by step since it wasn't too hard. It causes LabVIEW to crash and exit without saving.
    - Create an Event Handler
    - Place 'Register Events', wire output to dynamic event terminal
    - Place 'Create User Event', wire output to 'Register Events'/User Event
    - Place an Empty String Constant [""], wire to input of 'Create User Event'
    - Set empty string property -> Visible Items > Label = True
    - Rename label from "Empty String Constant" to other such as "Event"
    OR
    - Create a cluster constant with something in it
    OR
    - Place a boolean constant
    - Set boolean property -> Visible Items > Label = True
    - Name label something su
    ch as "Event"
    - 'Add Event Case...' to the Event Handler, select Dynamic / : User Event
    - Delete the constant wired to 'Create User Event'.
    - Place a constant of a different data type and wire it to the input of 'Create User Event'
    LabVIEW immediately disappears (all changes are lost) and this error is displayed:
    ================================
    LabVIEW.exe has generated errors and will be closed by
    Windows. You wlil need to restart the program.
    An error log is being created.

    If there is a more appropriate place to post things of this nature that don’t really add to the discussion group, but need to be brought to the attention of NI, please post a URL or submittal method. Thanks...

    Thanks for the detailed request. We are aware of this exact issue, and the problem was actually fixed for LabVIEW 7.0 for Mac/Unix. Unfortunately, it did not get fixed for the initial release of LabVIEW 7.0 for Windows, but we have plans to include the fix in the first LabVIEW patch for 7.0.
    Also, the Discussion Forum is great for notifications of this kind. For future reference, you also have the options of emailing NI engineers directly, or calling us with suspected bug fixes, if you would like more direct communication.
    Thanks again, and have a great day!

  • Event handling in LOV

    Hi There,
    We have a use-case where we need intercept the event of af:inputComboboxListOfValues component.
    I have table, which has three columns, Name, Description and Label.
    I have a LOV on Name column.
    When user change the value of Name column by selecting an value from dropdown, I need to do business validation, I show user the "Yes/No" popup with warning message, and base on the user's choice, either proceed with the change or stop the change.
    My problem is that I am unable to find a appropriate event to show the popup.
    I know there are several events in the af:inputComboboxListOfValues component, launchPopupEvent, returnPopupEvent and valueChangeEvent.
    1. If I show popup on launchPopupEvent, after the user click "Yes/No" button on the popup, the page will be refreshed and dropdwon doesn't show the item list.
    2. returnPopupEvent and valueChangeEvent event will be handled by framework in one request, there is no chance for user's interaction.
    I am not familiar with ADF event handling machenism, can anyone help me?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    first of all, never post questions regarding internal JDeveloper builds (11.1.1.7 is not released to public) on this public forum. You are from Oracle and therefore have internal channels for this (note that using internal builds the problem could be with the build and not necessarily the code alone).
    To your question:
    I don't understand why
    +"2. returnPopupEvent and valueChangeEvent event will be handled by framework in one request, there is no chance for user's interaction."+
    doesn't work. If you set the "name" column component to autosubmit="true" then the listener fires as soon as you move out of the field and you can raise the alert. The current row in the binding points to the row you changed the name for and as such the value can be unset (the value change listener shows you the before and after value)
