InputText field based on SelectOneChoice.

Hi,
I have one table and 2 columns. One is select one choice and another is input text.
I want to change the input text value based on the value i select in my drop down.
Can anyone please help me how I can achieve this functionality.
Thanks
Anoop

try this,
value="#{bindings.SOC.attributeValue}"
set the input text partialTriggers as selectone choice's id.
if it doesn't work get the selected value in the valuechange event and set it manually.

  • Update a text field based on a SelectOneChoice field

    Hi,
    I have a set of Create, Confirm and Thankyou screens. These screens are bound to a global view object. The create screen has a SelectOneChoice element which allows the user to pick an employee. When the selection is made, I need to display the employee's department in a read only text field below the dropdown. The Employees list(SelectOneChoice) is associated to the read only view object and this view object also has the employee's department information. Im dont know how to set the department name in the text field and refresh the screen. Any help is appreciated. Thank You.

    Frank, thanks for you time. Please see my answers below.
    Hi,
    can you help me creating a reproducable testcase
    based on the HR schema where we have a Departments
    and Employees tables. To understand your usecase I
    have some questions:
    Im not too familiar with HR Schema.
    >
    First of all however, what is a "global view object",
    and is it safe to assume you are using ADF Business
    Components?
    Its the "Globals View Object" as described in the SRDemo for creating a new Service Request and yes I am using ADF Business Components.
    >
    Which version of Oracle JDeveloper do you use ?
    10.1.3
    >
    The usecase I understand is that you have a
    selectOneChoiceList that whenever you select a new
    name should update a read-only text field with the
    department name. Is this correct ? Or is there more
    in it ?
    Heres the complete description. There are 4 fields on the screen
    1. Program Name (text input field, - required field)
    2. Program Category (SelectOneChoice field - required field)
    3. Employee Name (SelectOneChoice field - required field)
    4. Employee Department (Text output field - based on 3 above)
    What you have described above is working for me now, but everytime I select a value for 3, it does the required fields check and gives a message like "1 & 2 are required and a value must be entered", this validation should only occur when my continue button is clicked.
    >
    The department name should be displayed only (read
    only), or is it also bound to what you call "global
    view"?
    Yes its read only but I need to bind to the Globals view as I need to display it in the confirmation screen.
    >
    Also, just to be sure, is the department name part of
    the VO or is it the departmentId?
    The screen is bound to the Globals View, the selectOneChoice values are displayed from another view(EmployeeList view) which has the department name.

  • SelectOneChoice to populate an InputText field

    I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3 and ADF, and I would like to have a DataBound SelectOneChoice dropdown list populate the selected value into another InputText field in the form. The destination is just a plain InputText field.
    From what I can see, the result of the selection HAS to go into some Base Data Source field, but that's not what I want to do. Is this not possible or is there another way to allow someone to populate a field from a dropdown list.
    Thanks.
    Andy

    Are you using ADF BC in the back end? Would it help if you added a transient attribute to the VO (ie one which is non database) and then you could simply return the value from the list into that (and so use the existing binding dialog?)
    Alternatively check out this.
    http://groundside.com/blog/GrantRonald?title=conditional_rendering_of_jsf_fields_depe&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1
    You just need to do the first part of this example...i.e. create a proxy bind variable and return the value from the drop down into the bind var and then display this bind var in a text field on the page.

  • Show/Hide JSF field based on SelectOnceChoice using Model Driven List

    Hello All,
    I have a use case where I want to show or hide fields based on values populated in SelectOneChoice. I have View master and View Lookup, master has a field named product which displayed selectiononechoice of product name built using lookup view as accessor. I am storing id of lookup type inside product column. Based on a product name say "abc" I want to hide subsequent fields. Can anyone please tell me how to implement this?
    I am using ADF 11g version 11.1.2.
    Thanks,
    Dipal

    If I understand you correctly, you are trying to show/hide subsequent fields based on the value selected from a selectonechoice?
    Did you try using partial triggers and EL for setting the rendered attribute on subsequent fields and setting autosubmit to true on selectonechoice?

  • How to count number  of records for a field based on condition?

    Hi guys,
    I want to know how to find count of records coming from the database for a particular field based on some condition.
    I need to use this count to suppress some headers. Because of this i am not able to use running totals. Is there any other way?
    Ex scenario:
    I have account number and currency fields, those are coming from database. And i need to count the number of accounts whose currency is not Euro.
    Thanks in advance,
    Vijay.

    A simple formula can do that:
    //Formula begin
    if {your account field}<>"Euro" then 1
    //Formula end
    This formula can be summarized. (by group or report)

  • Using JavaScript to auto populate a field based on numeric value of a separate drop down field

    Hello, I am trying to set up a simple, I hope, javascript which will enable to me auto populate one field based on the numberic value of another field using Acrobat Pro XI.
    Essentially I have 2 drop down fields (we'll call them DD1 and DD2).
    DD1 is the sum of 8 preceding drop down values. That sum can be anywhere from 0 - 40. Whatever that sum falls within a range which identifies a rating. The ratings and ranges are below:
    0-8: Non-Performer
    9-16: Low Performer
    17-24: Performer
    25-32: High Performer
    33-40: Exceptional Performer
    DD2 is where the rating ("non-performer", "low performer", etc.) will be captured. Instead of requiring the user to look at DD1, determine the value, and then identify and input the rating manually, I would like DD2 to auto populate the rating based on the value (sum) in DD1.
    For example, if DD1 shows a value of 27 then DD2 would auto populate "High Performer". So how do I write this code or execute this? In excel I would use an if, then statement. Is there something similar in Acrobat Pro XI.
    Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

    If you use a text field, the custom calculation script could be:
    // Custom calculation script for text field
    (function () {
        var s = getField("DD1").valueAsString;
        // Blank this field if input is blank
        if (!s) {
            event.value = "";
            return;
        // Convert string to number
        var v = +s;
        // Set this field's value based on the input
        if (v <= 40 && v >= 33) {
            event.value = "Exceptional Performer";
            return;
        if (v < 33 && v >= 25) {
            event.value = "High Performer";
            return;
        if (v < 25 && v >= 17) {
            event.value = "Performer";
            return;
        if (v < 17 && v >= 9) {
            event.value = "Low Performer";
            return;
        if (v < 9 && v >= 0) {
            event.value = "Non-Performer";
            return;
        // If none of the above fit, blank this field
        event.value = "";

  • Dynamically enable a field based on a selected table row

    Hi everyone.
    I'm getting really confused right now, please show me the right way. My approach may be, and probably is, wrong since I am self learning this and all I have is an ASP.NET background.
    I have a page with a table in it. I've created a DataControl for a collection I've made and mapped it to the table. I added a column that shows an "edit" button. On it's click, I open a popup that shows the selected row's data. Naviguation controls are also present on the popup.
    This is working fine.
    My problem comes in the popup. Each row has multiples fields. These fields, shown on the popup, need to dynamically be enable/disable. To toggle those field, the only way I can see right now is to have a function that takes into parameter the rowId and the fieldName. Based on those two fields, I can get the necessary information to know if I need to enable or disable the control.
    What I was aiming for, but then again I totally failed, was to have that function called on the "enabled" EL Expression, returning a Boolean.
    Now that this has been said, can someone guide my on how to dynamically enable/disable each field based on the selected row.
    Thanks !

    Above +
    why don't you create a bean method that returns a Boolean ans through EL Expression Builder select the method to this property.
    btw .. on which components are you setting this?
    Also,
    If there is business logic that prohibits to update this object unless that is met.. you can also do it as..
    In EOImpl .. override isAttributeUpdateable(int i) method eg:
    @Override
    public boolean isAttributeUpdateable(int i) {
    if(i == this.ENAME && "KING".equalsIgnoreCase(this.getEname())){
    return true;
    }else
    return super.isAttributeUpdateable(i);
    and then in UI for the component say
    ReadOnly = #{bindings.Ename.updateable}
    Or, In UI
    disable = #{ bindings.Ename.attributeValue == 'KING' & bindings.Mrg.attributeValue == null ? true : false}
    adf does provides many ways to do it ..
    Cheers, Amit

  • Determine number in a field based on word-choice in a drop-down menu

    I'm trying to insert a number in a field based on a word I've chosen in a drop-down menu.
    Example:
    I have a drop-down menu named "Fruits". In that menu is "Orange", "Apple" and "Banana".
    I have a different field called "Price". If the user selects "Orange" in the "Fruits" drop-down, the value of "Price" is 10. If the user selects "Apple" the value of "Price" is 15. If the user selects "Banana" the value of "Price" is 20.
    Been working with this for awhile, and feel like Im very close, but can't get it to work. If someone could help me I'd be grateful.
    Thanks,
    T.

    Thanks to both of you. I realize this is more complex than I thought, and that I didn't state my challenge correctly. Let me try again:
    I have a number of textual items in a dropdown, let's say "Apples", "Bananas" and "Cherries".
    I have an array of form fields, with different properites expressed as a numeric value, say: "Size", "Weight", and "Cost".
    Each of the items in the dropdown has a value for each of the fields.
    So when I select an item from the drop-down I want to populate the entire array from the values associated with the items in the drop down. Different items will fill the array of values (I actually have 28 properties in the array and about 7 items in the drop-down). The items will always have a value for all the properties in the array, but I want the user to be able to override all entries. So enter custom text in the drop-down, which would provide blank fields in the array, which could also be overwritten by the user.
    Hope that makes sense, and I apologize for my earlier attempt at describing this. It's hard enough to do in plain English, there's no way I can make this happen in Javascript, LOL!
    Thanks in advance for your patience and help.
    T.
