Inputting from the keyboard

Question

hi everyone, can anyone help me on how to read what the user inputs from the keyboard when running a program in command-line(ms-dos prompt)interface.Does it have something to do with System.in any help would be appreciated.
(Example)
System.out.println("Please enter your name ");
String name = //capture the name in string
System.out.println("Enter your choice");
int choice = //capture what the choice is
System.out.println("your choice is "+ choice);
}
