Insert date on a condition

I would like to insert the current date and time if a condition is met. 'Now' and 'Today' upadate to whatever is current. I want something that will put in the date and time at the moment, and leave that. Is there a way to do this?

Hi Wayne,
when you want to time stamp select the preset cell, copy, the select the destintion and paste.
Paste will paste the formula =NOW() which will update.
Dan,
Edit >Paste Values will fix it as a Time Stamp:
NOW has updated to 11:35 PM.
Paste Values has remained at 11:33 PM through a Save, Close and Open.
I realise this does not answer your question as you want a time stamp if a condition is met, and my suggestion is manual.
Regards,
Ian.

Hi Instead of adding new column tot_amt can we use case statment or write a function to check and insert.just declare a variable called tot_amt and it should solve your problem. You can use if or case statement as well but I will not advise you to use a function because it becomes too costly in this case (making call then returning value).

  • Using SQL Loader to insert data based on conditionally statements

I would like to use sql loader to insert records from a single text file into an Oracle database table. Sounds easy but the problem is that I need to check the existence of data in another table (Table A) before data can be loaded into Table B.
Table A has two columns: dept_no (primary key value) and dept_name (char)
Table B has five columns: emp_no (primary key value), dept_no (foreign key value to Table A), employee (char), job_title (char) and salary (number)
    Text File looks like this:
    Finance Jones President 10000
    HR Smith Admin 2000
    HelpDesk Jenkins Technician 3000
    Problem:
    1. I need sql loader to insert records into Table B by first checking if the first field in the file is in Table A.
    2. If value exists get it's dept_no value.
    3. If value doesn't exist discard record ( I might want to have sql loader insert a new record for this into Table A)
    4. Using value from #2, insert the value in Table B for dept_no column.
    5. Also assign a sequence value for the emp_no value in Table B.
    Any guidance is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hello,
I am not sure this is possible with SQL loader. I would rather use an external table based on your file.
Then, I would use SQL to load your data into your table, based on your conditions.
Your request is not very complicated, writing the SQL to do that will be really more simple than trying to do it with SQL loader.
    Hope it will help.

  • How to insert date in my condition

    i have following stituation
one table test with following column
    name varchar2();
    sal number;

    declare
    null;
    begin
    insert into test(name,sal,date_craeted) (select ename,sal ,sysdate from emp);
    end;
is givivng the error in date that ORA-00904 'FEB is an invalid identifier
    pls suggest what to do

    Pradeep,
First of all, why do you need a PL/SQL loop?
    Just use
    INSERT INTO <TABLE>
    SELECT FROM <TABLE>
and be sure that you're matching the number and type of columns.
In between, the error is pretty clear that data is not corresponding to the required format.
Sysdate is a timestamp, not a date. so try: trunc(sysdate,'dd') instead of just using sysdate.
See if it can help your problem.

  • Insert data in same table based on some condition

Hi. I am new to this forum.
I have to write a stored procedure to Insert Data into a table say MYTABLE ,having structure as:
    Col1 Col2 Col3 ................ TotalInstallments CurrentInstallment PaidAmount MonthYear
I have to insert all the data as it is in the same table(MYTABLE) except changing some fields on basis of some conditions:
    1. if PaidAmount>0 && CurrentInstallment<TotalInstallment then
    CurrentInstallment=CurrentInstallment+1
    2. In the MonthYear field I am having data in formate(month/year)ex. 01/2012, 11/2012 ....
So I have to insert data by incrementing month and year. for example:
if currentdata is 11/2012 then next data will be 12/2012
    But next will be 01/2013
I have to select all the records which belongs to previous month(through MonthYear field ) and put checking & changes on each record of the selected data and then insert them into same table(MYTABLE).
    How to achive that?
    Thanks.

Every thing is working fine but some strange result as:
when i run my Procedure TRANSFERDATATONEXTMONTH
    1. by Passing Value as : CUSTOMERID_var ='ABX101' and MONTHYEAR_var='12/2012' it insurts 5 rows
which is correct , since I have 5 records where CUSTOMERID='ABX101' and MONTHYEAR='12/2012' and
new 5 rows has CUSTOMERID='ABX101' and MONTHYEAR='01/2013' (all other values are as expected)
    2. now when i again run by passing values: CUSTOMERID='ABX101' and MONTHYEAR='01/2013' it inserts 10 records(just double )
and new records has value CUSTOMERID='ABX101' and MONTHYEAR='02/2013' (while on the basis of condition CUSTOMERID='ABX101' and MONTHYEAR='01/2013' i have in my table only 5 records)
and all records are duplicate. Some times it inserts three times , while on condition basis it should no. What is happening?Probably, meanwhile you were trying to Insert the First time and the second time, someone did run the procedure that Inserted 5 More records for 01/2013. And, hence your Second run inserted 10 records instead of 5.
    >
Why it is inserting double of records while i have only 5 records on given condition? Am I missing some thing?Yes, you are. You are missing your Tables, Your Dummy/Sample Data, Working Procedure/Function that can be replicated.
Without this, we cannot simply believe on assertions that Oracle is behaving incorrectly.
In addition to this, the GetMonthYear function, should be scrapped. It is un-necessary, when the same logic can be achieved using Oracle ADD_MONTHS function (See my previous post). And you are storing the MonthYear in a Varchar field, which ideally should be a Date field. This eradicates the un-wanted need to cast from VARCHAR - DATE - VARCHAR.

  • Need to insert data in 2 tables thro stored procedure

I need to create a stored procedure which will insert data in two tables. The procedure will get
its inputs from an Oracle Developer Form which will be inserted into the tables.
    The 2 tables structure:
    1.FEES_MASTER
    Name Null? Type
    FEES_ID NOT NULL NUMBER(8) -- Primary Key
CS_ID NOT NULL NUMBER(8) -- Class Student ID; An enrolled student
REC_DATE NOT NULL DATE -- Fees receipt date
REC_AMOUNT NOT NULL NUMBER(6) -- Fees receipt amount
    2.FEES_DETAIL
    Name Null? Type
    FEES_ID NOT NULL NUMBER(8) -- Foreign Key
MONTH NOT NULL DATE -- First of each month to identify fee month
    Scenario:
A student submits fees for 3 months through Master/Detail related blocks in a Developer Form as
    Under:
    Fees Master
    Fees ID : 11002
    Class Student ID : 356
    Receipt Date : 06-JAN-2001
    Receipt Amount : 1500
    Fees Detail
    Fees ID Fees Month
    11002 01-JAN-2001
    11002 01-FEB-2001
    11002 01-MAR-2001
I need to check each fees detail record for fees month duplication as well before inserting new records.
    How can this be achieved?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks very much. But what I need is to ensure transaction integrity thro stored procedure. The system allows a certain CS_ID (i.e. Class Student ID, which is assigned a new one to every student annually) to submit fees for 12 months only, because a student stays in a class for a year. The 2 columns in the FEES_DETAIL table are composite primary key which only ensures that a certain FEES_ID will not be repeated for the same month. But suppose:
1)this data already exist in the tables:
    Fees Master
    Fees ID : 11002
    Class Student ID : 356
    Receipt Date : 06-JAN-2001
    Receipt Amount : 1500
    Fees Detail
    Fees ID Fees Month
    11002 01-JAN-2001
    11002 01-FEB-2001
    11002 01-MAR-2001
2)And this data is currently being inserted:
    Fees Master
    Fees ID : 11300
    Class Student ID : 356
    Receipt Date : 04-FEB-2001
    Receipt Amount : 1500
    Fees Detail
    Fees ID Fees Month
    11300 01-JAN-2001
    11300 01-FEB-2001
    11300 01-MAR-2001
The data in the 2nd condition is perfectly valid but the application can't allow a student to submit fees for a month which he has already submitted. Now only a stored procedure can make sure after checking that the same student doesn't pay fees for duplicate months. Another reason for my emphasis on stored procedure is that what if a user tries to insert data thro an SQL* Plus session instead of the Form.
PROBLEM: Now the problem I am having is I don't know how the procedure will take input for multiple records from the FEES_DETAIL block in the Form.
Please assist in this regard. Thanks.

  • How to Insert data from Table A to Table B

    Hi,
I have to insert data from Table A into Table B.
Table A is having 100 records and table B is having 10000 records.
Condition is if data in Table A is not in table B then I have to insert into Table B or else I have to skip that.
Can anyone help me with sample code.
Thanks in advance and points are awarded for usefull answers.
    Thanks,
    Kumar.

    Hello Kumar
Assuming that tables A and B have the same structure you can use the same logic as change documents are prepared. Assuming both of your itabs are of structure struc_a. Then define the following type:
    TYPES: BEGIN OF ty_s_itab_di.
    INCLUDE TYPE struc_a.
    TYPES: CHIND  TYPE bu_chind.
    TYPES: END OF ty_s_itab_di.
TYPES: ty_t_itab_di  TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF ty_s_itab_di
    WITH DEFAULT KEY.
    DATA:    gt_itab_old  TYPE ty_t_itab_di,
    gt_itab_new TYPE ty_t_itab_di.
Fill itabs gt_Itab_old with the corresponding data of itab1 and gt_itab_new with the corresponding data of itab2.
Very important: sort you itabs either by all key fields or by all fields.
Call function <b>CHANGEDOCUMENT_PREPARE_TABLES</b> with the following parameters:
    - CHECK_INDICATOR = ' '
    - TABLE_NEW = gt_Itab_new
    - TABLE_OLD = gt_itab_old
The function module will remove identical lines from both itabs. New entries in gt_itab_New will have CHIND = 'I' and deleted entries in gt_itab_old will have CHIND = 'D'. Modified entries are indicated by CHIND = 'U'.
Read the documentation of the function module and play around with it. You will see that this a quite easy yet powerful approach for comparing itabs.

    Uwe

    HOW TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM?

I cant see any join conditions in your query posted. Whats the purpose of the query above. It will just bring you a cartesian product (cross join) of tables involved subjected to filters. Are you sure this is the correct query?
The error you're getting may be because you've not yet populated DimProduct or may be because of logic you used in popultaing DimProduct causing it to miss some records which is what query is referring to in above case.

  • Insert data in drop down in alv at run time.

    Hi Gurus,
I have to insert data in the dropdown wich is in alv at run time.According to my requirement i have i fill my drop down in the init but depend upon some conditions i have to insert one more vaule in the drop down at the run time.
My problem is that i have filled the drop down with new data but it is not displayed in at the alv output. It is working fine without alv.
    Thanks & Regards.

    Hi,
As per my understanding you want to update values in the drop down, on enter event of some other field.
For that you have written the code for drop down twice 1) in the init method 2) in the on enter event of one field, right?
If the code is not working in the on enter event, I think you can still use 'WDDOMODIFYVIEW' method. Follow the below steps:
    1) create one attribute of type char1 in the attributes tab of the view
    2) Set the value of that attribute to 'X' in the on enter event of other field (where you have written the code for drop down)
    3) In 'WDDOMODIFYVIEW' method, check the value of attribute. If this is 'X' run the code for updating drop down, then clear the value of attribute

ORA-06512: at line 7The problem is that your variable subject_obj is not in scope inside the dynamic SQL you are building. The SQL engine does not know your PL/SQL variable, so it tries to find a column named SUBJECT_OBJ in your SAM1 table.
If you need to use dynamic SQL for this, then you must bind the variable. Something like this:
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'insert into op_sample (select id,name,:bind_subject_obj from sam1) ' USING subject_obj;Alternatively you might figure out to use static SQL rather than dynamic SQL (if possible for your project.) In static SQL the PL/SQL engine binds the variables for you automatically.
