Insert into internal table
Hi Experts,
I am new comer to ABAP, have some very important task to be done, need help from all of you. I have a program which displays the results(inform about the infocubes). I want to insert the output of this prgm into an internal table, I am looking lot into the documentation, but so far not much help and i am not able to execute it. And one more task, I want to join this internal table and one database table and get the result, my question is , Is it possible to join this internal table and database table based on some common field.
Any help will be of grt help
Thanks,
Hem.
Hi,
For joining internal table with database table,you need to write the logic as below.
This is the pseudo code.
select * from database into table itab2 where condition.
loop at itab1 into wa1.
move-corresponding wa1 to wa3.
loop at itab2 into wa2 where field = wa1-field.
move-corresponding wa2 to wa3.
endloop.
append wa3 to itab3.
endloop.
1. select the required data from database table into internal table.
2. loop the first internal table which you already have.
3. Based on the key fields in these two internal tables[database],place the condition in READ or LOOP statement for the second internal table inside the loop of the first internal table.
4. If there are more records in second internal table for a single record in first internal table,then use LOOP the second internal table within the first internal table.Otherwise, read the second internal table within the first internal table.
5.Then move the corresponding fields from both the internal tables inside the loop to third internal table.Append the record to the third internal table.
Hope it helps.

J.Jayanthi

Update & Insert into Internal table
Dear Abapers,
Is it possible to update a entry in the internal table if exists, otherwise inserts a new one.
I think MODIFY <Internal Table> will not insert new one if the matching entry is not there.
MODIFY <database_table> have this facility.
Thanks in advance,
SatishHi,
i dont know what type of fields u r having but about collect statement i am correct
The following special statement allows you to summate entries in an internal table:
COLLECT wa INTO itab.
itab must have a flat line type, and all of the fields that are not part of the table key must have a numeric type (f, i, p). You specify the line wathat you want to add as a work area that is compatible with the line type of itab.
When the line is inserted, the system checks whether there is already a table entry that matches the key. If there is no corresponding entry already in the table, the COLLECT statement has the same effect as inserting the new line. If an entry with the same key already exists, the COLLECT statement does not append a new line, but adds the contents of the numeric fields in the work area to the contents of the numeric fields in the existing entry.
REPORT demo_int_tables_COLLECT .
DATA: BEGIN OF line,
col1(3) TYPE c,
col2(2) TYPE n,
col3 TYPE i,
END OF line.
DATA itab LIKE SORTED TABLE OF line
WITH NON-UNIQUE KEY col1 col2.
line-col1 = 'abc'. line-col2 = '12'. line-col3 = 3.
COLLECT line INTO itab.
WRITE / sy-tabix.
line-col1 = 'def'. line-col2 = '34'. line-col3 = 5.
COLLECT line INTO itab.
WRITE / sy-tabix.
line-col1 = 'abc'. line-col2 = '12'. line-col3 = 7.
COLLECT line INTO itab.
WRITE / sy-tabix.
LOOP AT itab INTO line.
WRITE: / line-col1, line-col2, line-col3.
ENDLOOP.
The list output is:
1
2
1
abc 12 10
def 34 5
The example fills a sorted table. The first two COLLECT statements work like normal insertion statements. In the third COLLECTstatement, the first line of itab is modified.

How to insert into internal table
I have 3 internal, for example, one of header table, one of item table, one of result table.
How can i insert header and item into result table.
Like.
Insert header-f1 header-f2 item-f1 item-f2 item-f3 into result
Thanks.loop at ititem.
move-corresponding ititem to itresult.
read table itheader with key f1 = ititem-f1.
if sy-subrc = 0.
move-corresponding itheader to itresult.
endif.
append itresult.
endloop.
here all the tables are with header line if your table is without header line you have to use explicit work area.

Problem while inserting into a table which has ManyToOne relation
Problem while inserting into a table *(Files)* which has ManyToOne relation with another table *(Folder)* involving a attribute both in primary key as well as in foreign key in JPA 1.0.
Relevent Code
Entities:
public class Files implements Serializable {
@EmbeddedId
protected FilesPK filesPK;
private String filename;
@JoinColumns({
@JoinColumn(name = "folder_id", referencedColumnName = "folder_id"),
@JoinColumn(name = "uid", referencedColumnName = "uid", insertable = false, updatable = false)})
@ManyToOne(optional = false)
private Folders folders;
public class FilesPK implements Serializable {
private int fileId;
private int uid;
public class Folders implements Serializable {
@EmbeddedId
protected FoldersPK foldersPK;
private String folderName;
@OneToMany(cascade = CascadeType.ALL, mappedBy = "folders")
private Collection<Files> filesCollection;
@JoinColumn(name = "uid", referencedColumnName = "uid", insertable = false, updatable = false)
@ManyToOne(optional = false)
private Users users;
public class FoldersPK implements Serializable {
private int folderId;
private int uid;
public class Users implements Serializable {
@Id
@GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.IDENTITY)
private Integer uid;
private String username;
@OneToMany(cascade = CascadeType.ALL, mappedBy = "users")
private Collection<Folders> foldersCollection;
I left out @Basic & @Column annotations for sake of less code.
EJB method
public void insertFile(String fileName, int folderID, int uid){
FilesPK pk = new FilesPK();
pk.setUid(uid);
Files file = new Files();
file.setFilename(fileName);
file.setFilesPK(pk);
FoldersPK folderPk = new FoldersPK(folderID, uid);
// My understanding that it should automatically handle folderId in files table,
// but it is not…
file.setFolders(em.find(Folders.class, folderPk));
em.persist(file);
It is giving error:
Internal Exception: java.sql.SQLException: Field 'folderid' doesn't have a default value_
Error Code: 1364
Call: INSERT INTO files (filename, uid, fileid) VALUES (?, ?, ?)_
_ bind => [hello.txt, 1, 0]_
It is not even considering folderId while inserting into db.
However it works fine when I add folderId variable in Files entity and changed insertFile like this:
public void insertFile(String fileName, int folderID, int uid){
FilesPK pk = new FilesPK();
pk.setUid(uid);
Files file = new Files();
file.setFilename(fileName);
file.setFilesPK(pk);
file.setFolderId(folderId) // added line
FoldersPK folderPk = new FoldersPK(folderID, uid);
file.setFolders(em.find(Folders.class, folderPk));
em.persist(file);
My question is that is this behavior expected or it is a bug.
Is it required to add "column_name" variable separately even when an entity has reference to ManyToOne mapping foreign Entity ?
I used Mysql 5.1 for database, then generate entities using toplink, JPA 1.0, glassfish v2.1.
I've also tested this using eclipselink and got same error.
Please provide some pointers.
ThanksHello,
What version of EclipseLink did you try? This looks like bug https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=280436 that was fixed in EclipseLink 2.0, so please try a later version.
You can also try working around the problem by making both fields writable through the reference mapping.
Best Regards,

How to transfer data of RFC into Internal Table inside a WD4A program?
Hi Experts,
I have created WD4A program. This program calls RFC. The output of RFC has to populate a UI table. THe different cells of the table should have different color based on data.
I have gone through following link:
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/707fb792-c181-2d10-61bd-ce15d58b5cf1
The above link fetches data from directly from table. Then it passes the data into internal table.
If I am using RFC, then how I can insert data of RFC into a internal table in WD4A program (se80 In drop down Web Dynpro Comp / Intf)
My motto is to have table ouput whose different cells should have different color based on data.
Please help.
Regards,
Gary
Edited by: Jason Lax on Dec 28, 2011 2:52 PM (Fixed broken link)Hi Experts,
I have resolved the issue. I have created WD4A program. This WD4A program calls the RFC.
The RFC has a structure as export parameters called 'RESULT_FINAL'. I have altered the associated type of this table export parameter. I added Component 'Color' of component type 'WDUI_TABLE_CELL_DESIGN'.
In the RFC I have added some code. The code is as below:
loop at it_t1.
select pernr from pa0000 into table it_t2 where pernr = it_t1-pernr and stat2 ='3'
and begda <= sy-datum AND endda >= sy-datum.
if sy-subrc = 0.
result_final-org_unit = result_objec-objid.
result_final-pernr = it_t1-pernr.
result_final-name = it_t1-name.
result_final-color = '02'. append result_final.
endif.
endloop.
The line result_final-color = '02'.
code returns Color.
In the WD4A program, I have changed the Cell Design property of selected table coloumn to Color.
This resolved the issue.
Thanks every one for the reply.
I have added above information for other SDN users.

How can I insert into a table other than the default table in a form
Hi,
I want to insert into a table with some fields value of a form of another table. I have written insert code On successful submission of that form, but after submit it gives the following error
An unexpected error occurred: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error (WWV-16016)
My code is like this
declare
l_trn_id number;
l_provider_role varchar2(3);
l_provider_id varchar2(10);
begin
l_trn_id := p_session.get_value_as_number(p_block_name=>'DEFAULT',p_attribute_name=>'A_TRANSACTION_ID');
l_provider_id := p_session.get_value_as_varchar2(p_block_name=>'DEFAULT',p_attribute_name=>'A_PROVIDER1');
l_PROVIDER_ROLE := p_session.get_value_as_varchar2(p_block_name=>'DEFAULT',p_attribute_name=>'A_PROVIDER_ROLE1');
if (l_provider_role is not null) and (l_provider_id is not null) then
insert into service_provider_trans_records(service_provider_id,transaction_id,role_type_id)
values(l_provider_id, l_trn_id, l_provider_role);
commit;
end if;
end;
Where 'PROVIDER1' and 'PROVIDER_ROLE1' are not table fields.
How can do that or why this error comes ? Any idea?
Thanks
SumitaHi,
When do you get this error? Is it while running or while creating the form.
Here is a sample code which inserts a non-database column dummy into a table called dummy. This is done in successful procedure.
declare
l_dummy varchar2(1000);
begin
l_dummy := p_session.get_value_as_varchar2(p_block_name=>'DEFAULT',
p_attribute_name=>'A_DUMMY');
insert into sjayaram903_1g.dummy values(l_dummy);commit;
end;
Please check in your case if the size of the local variable is enough to hold the values being returned.
Thanks,

Inserting into a table which is created "on the fly" from a trigger
Hello all,
I am trying to insert into a table from a trigger in Oracle form. The table name however, is inputted by the user in am item form.
here is what the insert looks like:
insert into :table_name
values (:value1, :value2);
the problem is that forms does not recognize ::table_name. If I replace :table_name with an actual database table, it works fine. However, I need to insert to a table_name based from oracle form item.
By the way, the table|_name is built on the fly using a procedure before I try to insert into it.
Any suggestion on how can I do that? My code in the trigger is:
declare
dm_drop_tbl(:table_name,'table) // a call to an external procedure to drop the table
dm_create_tbl(:table_name,'att1','att2');
insert into :table_name
values (:value1, :value2);
this give me an error:
encounter "" when the symbol expecting one.....Hi ,
You should use the FORMS_DDL built_in procedure. Read the on-line documentation of forms ...

Diffrence between backend insert and front end insert into a table.
I am developing a conversion program for tax exemption. For this program only ZX_EXEMPTIONS table is used to populate the data and we got confirmation from Oracle also regarding this.For inserting the data into this table we are taking the max of tax_exemption_id which is pk for this table and adding one to it and inserting into the table. But problem here is after inserting from back end we are not able to insert from front end.
It seems backend data is holding the tax_exemption_id which is suppose to reserve by front end data.Please explain the different behavior of populating of tax_exemption_id from front end and back end.Hi,
i think the problem is that you are using max-value + 1 for tax_exemption_id. But as ZX_EXEMPTIONS is using sequence ZX_EXEMPTIONS_S
for primary key generation, you encounter situation that you are increasing PK Id for this table without increasing sequence value.
When trying to insert rows from front end - which probably uses sequence value - it tries to use a sequence value already used by your backend
process (which generated it by Maxvalue + 1) and would then encounter a primary key violation.
I think you should use sequence mentioned above to generate your PK Ids in backend process as well. And before doing so, check current value
of ZX_EXEMPTIONS_S, as you might need to rebuild the sequence in order to select nextval sucessfully for both frontend and backend.

Problem to upload the data into internal table record length more than 6000
Hi all
I stuck with this problem from past 3 days. I have to upload the data from excel sheet. iam making it tab delimited and trying to upload from gui_upload. but in the structure of file, we have, one field of 4000 characters, and other fields of 255 characters.
how can i upload this into internal table . From excel sheet or from tab delimeted or any other format? or any special function module is there? while iam doing this its truncating the datat 255 characters and not uploading the other fields also...
can any one of you help me out. ASAP
thnks in advancefrom one of the forum iam just pasting code which it is used in lsmw, try the same logic in ur code hope it can work.
you have to create multiple lines with do...enddo loop., like this:
(assuming excel_long_text-text is 924 characters long, 7 lines X 132 char)
__GLOBAL_DATA__
data: offset type i,
text_132(132) type c.
__BEGIN_OF_RECORD__ Before Using Conversion Rules
Rule : Default Settings Modified
Code: /sapdmc/ltxtl = init_/sapdmc/ltxtl.
CLEAR offset.
DO 7 TIMES.
text_132 = excel_long_text-text+offset(132).
offset = offset + 132.
__END_OF_RECORD__ After Using Conversion Rules
Rule : Default Settings Modified
Code: transfer_record.
ENDDO.

How to insert into a table with a nested table which refer to another table
Hello everybody,
As the title of this thread might not be very understandable, I'm going to explain it :
In a context of a library, I have an object table about Book, and an object table about Subscriber.
In the table Subscriber, I have a nested table modeling the Loan made by the subscriber.
And finally, this nested table refers to the Book table.
Here the code concerning the creation of theses tables :
Book :
create or replace type TBook as object
number int,
title varchar2(50)
Loan :
create or replace type TLoan as object
book ref TBook,
loaning_date date
create or replace type NTLoan as table of TLoan;
Subscriber :
create or replace type TSubscriber as object
sub_id int,
name varchar2(25)
loans NTLoan
Now, my problem is how to insert into a table of TSubscriber... I tried this query, without any success...
insert into OSubscriber values
*(1, 'LEVEQUE', NTLoan(*
select TLoan(ref(b), '10/03/85') from OBook b where b.number = 1)
Of course, there is an occurrence of book in the table OBook with the number attribute 1.
Oracle returned me this error :
SQL error : ORA-00936: missing expression

what information i need to give to vendor that do not add the first 8 lines in the XML file and add the line in the beggining <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> ??????
Is there any other way we can do with out removing the lines? -
Error while reading excel file from application server into internal table.
Hi experts,
My requirement is to read an excel file from application server into internal table.
Hence I have created an excel file fm_test_excel.xls in desktop and uploaded to app server using CG3Z tcode (as BIN file type).
Now in my program I have used :
OPEN DATASET v_filename FOR INPUT IN text mode encoding default.
DO.
READ DATASET v_filename INTO wa_tab.
The statement OPEN DATASET works fine but I get a dump (conversion code page error) at READ DATASET statement.
Error details:
A character set conversion is not possible.
At the conversion of a text from codepage '4110' to codepage '4103':
- a character was found that cannot be displayed in one of the two
codepages;
- or it was detected that this conversion is not supported
The running ABAP program 'Y_READ_FILE' had to be terminated as the conversion
would have produced incorrect data.
The number of characters that could not be displayed (and therefore not
be converted), is 445. If this number is 0, the second error case, as
mentioned above, has occurred.
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_CONVERSION_CODEPAGE', was not
caught and
therefore caused a runtime error.
The reason for the exception is:
Characters are always displayed in only a certain codepage. Many
codepages only define a limited set of characters. If a text from a
codepage should be converted into another codepage, and if this text
contains characters that are not defined in one of the two codepages, a
conversion error occurs.
Moreover, a conversion error can occur if one of the needed codepages
'4110' or '4103' is not known to the system.
If the conversion error occurred at read or write of screen, the file
name was '/usr/sap/read_files/fm_test_excel.xls'. (further information about
the file: "X 549 16896rw-rw----201105170908082011051707480320110517074803")
Also let me know whether this is the proper way of reading excel file from app server, if not please suggest an alternative .
Regards,
KarthikHi,
Try to use OPEN DATASET v_filename FOR INPUT IN BINARY mode encoding default. instead of OPEN DATASET v_filename FOR INPUT IN text mode encoding default.
As I think you are uploading the file in BIN format to Application server and trying to open text file.
