Insert one cell?

I think I know the answer but it never hurts to ask!
I have a three column table, each cell includes the name (and
link) for a contriubtor to our organization. Once a week I update
this table to include new contributors. I like to keep it
alphabetical. . . . is there ANYWAY of inserting a single cell and
having the rest of the table convert to stay 3 column? Currently I
insert a row and then do a lot of cut and paste to get everything
back the way I want.

How do I insert a cell or range of cells in Numbers?

From what I've read, one has to highlight and move cells to create the space for the new cells. This may be fine for small tables, but I have an inventory that currently has over 2000 lines of data. So if I need to add a line of data at row 2, then I would have to highlight 1998 lines of text, which takes a few minutes (holding down the shift and down arrow keys, which only highlights the cells on the screen, so I have to scroll down until my highlighted area ends at the top of the screen, highlight the current page, scroll down, highlight, etc., until I get all 1998 lines highlighted). Then drag them down one line. Then go back up and enter the data.
Can I just say that that is ridiculously complicated in the year 2012 (almost 2013)? Why not just have the same insert function that Excel has, where you can insert the cell or range of cells with a couple of keystrokes?
Is there some easier way to manage this data on my Macbook? Or did I waste $2000 on this computer? Thanks.

You may have wasted $20 on Numbers? I don't use it - I've been an Excel user since 1985 and it's still what I use today.
If, indeed, there's no shortcut for the procedure that you describe (and we'll have to wait for some Numbers experts to chime in on that) why not just buy MS Office 2011 for Mac? You can get a trial version here -> https://www.microsoft.com/mac/trial.
But, hopefully, a Numbers user will come along with a simple solution...

Drag the component from one cell to another cell within JTable

Hi All,
I have one requirement to drag the component from JList to JTable cell. I am able to do it but once if i drag the component from list to table cell, table accepting the drop after this i am unable to move the same component from one cell to another cell within the table.
Any advice.

How do I run a video in one cell of a table when a user clicks a button in another cell?

In other words, I want to put 3 buttons in one cell of a table so that the user can run one of three Flash videos in a cell beside the buttons. How do I do that?

You will have better luck if you find a Flash Player that uses a playlist. Direct links to FLV files don't work.

How do I simply add one blank cell to the spreadsheet? The rest of the items will move down or to the right.
Can't find the answer anywhere. Can't be that difficult. What am I missing?

Yes, Select the cells that need to be moved and "Mark for Move." Then, Select the cell where you want the upper left cell of your marked range to move to and "Move."
It's the same number of steps, roughly, as spreadsheet programs that allow inserting cells. When you insert a cell in those other programs, you must then define the direction of the move, so it amounts to about the same amount of work.

does someone know if it is possible to grab and connect text with the & operator and set different formats (bold, italic...) with a command in the formula?
For example I have different lines in one cell done with the CHAR(10) and want to have the last line in bold format. Is this kind of manipulation possible?

As far as I know, there is no such function.
We may apply different styles in a cell by hand, not by a formula.
I checked that the concatenation of the contents of cells with different styles result with a string in standard style.

The files are on a windows laptop and a hard drive hooked up to the windows laptop. The windows share server is pants, so I'd need some sort of third party server running. Maybe you weren't suggesting to use Samba to connect to the windows share though?
I'm glad that you've all understood my ramblings and taken and interest, thanks The way I see it, I can't be the only netbook user these days looking for this kind of convenience, and I certainly won't be once chrome and moblin hit the market.

Click in "a separate cell". Enter formula mode. Click on "one-cell", select "/" operator, click on "another-cell". Exit formula mode. Format as %.

Actually, you can email up to 5 at a time from the Photos app. Select any more and the email share option will not appear.
If you explain why you need to email large numbers of photos, we might be able to offer an alternative.

I'm pretty sure that the color would be controlled by what records are appended to the CELL_COLOR1 table inside IT_RESULT. . So move the code inside the IF statement, and add addition logic.

I would also recommend to write the description into the meta data. This would allow to place a text frame above the image and it is possible to add meta information and file name automatically together with the image, when you place it or even in a prepared template.
Meta data information can be written easily in Bridge in the Meta File Workspace.

Is it possible to conditional format more than one cell at a time?

I'd like to use conditional formatting to compare the value in cell E3 with the valve in cell D3. Then I'd like to copy the conditional formatting rule I made in cell E3 to cells E4 E5 E6 E7 ETC. I'd like the E4 to compare to D4. E5 to compare to D5 and so on. Is there an easy way to do this other than creating the rule for each cell?

Easier, yes. Instant, no.
Assuming the only thing that will change in the rule from one cell to the next is the reference to the comparison cell, do this:
Select all of the cells to be formatted.
Set the comparison rule to apply to D3.
At this point all the selected cells in column D will base their conditional formatting on a comparison with the value in E3. The next step is to edit the rules for D4, D5, etc.
Select cell D4.
In the rule statement, click on the cell reference E3 to select it, then click on the correct comparison cell for the selected cell (E4 for D4) to replace the reference.
Repeat with the next cell in column D.

Yours is a very basic spreadsheet question. It would be a good idea for you to download the Numbers User Guide PDF that's available from the Numbers Help Menu. There are sure to be many other similar questions that will also be answered by taking a look at the guide.
You can cause the content of one cell to appear in another cell by entering a reference to the first cell in the second one. If the first cell is located at B2 (second column, second row), the equation to make the content of B2 appear in another cell is =B2, in the second cell.

Hi Peter,
I am creating shipping labels.
My table is divided like the paper labels in my printer.
I am copying each address directly from my browser (each address on one cell). After I copy all the addresses, I adjust one them to: avenir font 9.5 pt, indents 0.5 first etc, and then I paste this style on each cell separately.
Is there a way to paste the style all together in one time? (I am making shipping labels every day so it is not a one time thing).
