Insert only one character in a JTable cell

Hi1
Can anybody tell me how i can do in order to insert only one character in a JTable cell? For example, i'ld like that user inserts only
a and not abcd in a JTable cell... can anyone halp me?

You can't. Either use a GUI or create a JNI DLL function that calls getch ().

How do I insert the tab character in a table cell in Pages 5.2?

I'm typing text in a table cell. I need to insert a tab in the text. I've tried all of the modifier keys with the tab. I read somewhere it would be CTRL>TAB, like Word, but that navigates to the Inspector.

You will need to add a Unicode keyboard. System Preferences > Keyboard > Input Sources. Click the + button in the lower left. Scroll all the way to the end and select Others > Unicode Hex Input. Select and Add this. Check the box that says Show input menu in menu bar. Exit System Preferences.
From the Finder menu, select your recent Unicode Hex Input source (it is a black box with white U+ in it). Now, position your cursor in your table cell between the characters where you want to insert a tab character. Press and hold your option key, then type 0009 (zeroes). This is the Unicode sequence for the tab control character. Space will open in your text. Tabs in table cells survive PDF export. The tab mark will not appear with Show invisibles enabled.
Switch back to your normal country input source in that Finder input source menu.

Can I create action to Save As... and change only one character of the original file name?

I'm working on a group of files(25-28) at a time. I have to save each one as a photoshop .raw file and change the first character of the file name. the rest of the file name must remain the same. I then close the original file with no changes. I tried to create an action for this. The only problem is that the next file overwrote the file I used to create the action. Is it possible to creat an action to save as... and keep the file name of the new file but chage the first character to the same one used in the recording?

I think what you are describing is not possible with Actions.
Scripting would be an option, but more convenient might be simply saving the files with unchanged names and then edit the names of the whole bunch in Bridge in one go (Tools > Batch Rename).

Only one character in a JTextPane using a DefaultStyledDocument

I'm developing a program to read and filter some big traces file and I'm having a little problem now.
I've done a small text program, with the class MyFile, MyDocument, FileViewer and Test, I try to load myDocument in a JTextPane but I only see the first character of the document. Maybe I nedd to implement more function in MyDocument class, I've also read some thing about the Element but I'm a little loose, I don't know which way to choose for my test.

Find files that match with given string, except one character in a fixed position

Hi,
I want to find files in a directory with a given string (ss-20140129-process-000*.sdx), where only one character will be mismatched, so have to use wildcard for that character. This means I am looking for filenames where everything needs to be matched except
one character in position of "*". For the samples given below: 1st 3 files matched with the given string, but last 3 files have not matched, so first 3 files will be counted.
ss-20140129-process-0001.sdx
ss-20140129-process-0004.sdx
ss-20140129-process-0009.sdx
zx-20140129-process-0001.sdx
bt-20140129-process-0002.sdx

I can use the command like (GCI -path $folder -filter ss-20140129-process-000?.sdx), BUT problem is i am building a string for the filter (code given below), where i DO NOT know how to use "?" within the string to make a character exception.

I don't think it's a syntax issue in the filter. This works fine for me:

You can try adding some debug output right before the call to Get-ChildItem. Check the values of $Folder and $FileToCheck, make sure they're correct. You can also fiddle with the values and call Get-ChildItem manually until it works, which would then tell you
how the code needs to be changed.

Why do borders for some cells allow changes in line thickness, but other cells are locked in only one thickness?

It looks like you should be able to choose different line thickness for cell borders, but for some cells you can get three choices (0.5, 1, 2 pt), but in other cases you can only do 0.5?
I can't make a consistent thickness border around the outside of all my cells!

Yes, I have lots of ideas. After all that work you probably don't want to hear them.
1. I would use PDF versions of rotated text boxes, inserted into the cells as background Fill rather than floating the actual text boxes over the table.
2. I would never merge a cell, or divide, a cell. Too many problems await you down the road if you do that. There are many ways in Numbers to avoid having to do those things. These are things we must do in Excel to get by, but we don't have to do them in Numbers.
3. There is a Line Type called "Thin" that has only one size, and another line type shown as a heavier solid for which the weight can be adjusted. It's possible that you have some places where you need to change the line type.
I believe that your difficulty may come from the merging of cells causing some ambiguity as to which border needs to be selected to change the display. This would be a bug, because you should be able to just select the border and edit it, but your table may have become so complex that the program has lost track of things in the course of all your changes.
My suggestion is to print your table just as it is, for reference, and start over in a new document, not an imported one. Don't merge or split. Use multiple simple tables and the occasional text box for annotation. You will be on your way to doing things the "Numbers Way".

PLEASE HELP-JTable cell editor-change one cell, changes all cells of column

for example i have 3 rows 4 columns, column 3 and 4 are dates. now if i change the date to a new value (eg for of column 3)
for any row, and then i click on any other cell. All cell values ie all rows for that column are changed to that new value.
ie it changed column 3 for all rows 1, 2 and 3 to that new value which i changed in only one cell of that column.

Changing DB character set for only one schema

We are interested in changing the characterset of only one user from Western European to AL32UTF8.
Could you please verify if the following steps will be correct to do the same.
1. Run CSScan on the one user
2. Fix any issues
3. Export that one user (with NLS_LANG set to <your old database character set>)
4. Create a new database in the AL32UTF8 character set
5. Import that one user into the new database (with NLS_LANG set to <your old database character set>)

Actually your title is a little incorrect. You are not changing CS for only one schema in existing DB which is not possible. You are trying to migrate a schema to new CS DB. Which is totally doable and your approach is mostly correct.

Mostly the issue could be data truncation, especially if you have column defined using char or varchar2 vs nchar and nvarchar2
because char/varchar is defined in bytes, AL32UTF8 is multi-bytes char set, some character of your old data could saved more than 1 bytes in new DB and can't fit into the column size.

what you ca do is, have an extra attribute in the node that is bound o the table, this attribute must be bound to the read only property of the cell. so according to your condition fill the attribute with 'X' or no value so that it will be in read only or editable mode.
