Insert with date format

Hi,
I've a problem with an insert, I wont to insert a record with one date column that I extract from data_picker_item, like this:
insert into backup_adm.tmp_job_runs@REP920DC_LNK values
(:P3_OPCO,
16642,
to_char(to_date(:P3_TIMESTAMP,'DD/MM/YYYY hh24:mi')),
to_date('05/11/09 18:34','dd/mm/yy hh24:mi'),4,-1,2,1);
I.ve receive this error:
ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column ORA-02063: preceding line from REP920DC_LNK

ALWAYS use a column list of the columns being inserted in the INSERT statement.
insert into backup_adm.tmp_job_runs@REP920DC_LNK
  (column1, column2, ...)
values
  (value1, value2, ...)If doing this doesn't fix the problem, post a description of the table.

    SQL*Loader-291: Invalid bind variable DATETIME in SQL string for column DATETIME.
    any help would greatfully appreciated.

    It seems that the problem was caused by the constant at the beginning of the record and had nothing to do with date formats.

  • Issue with Date Format

    Hi All,
    I m facing an issue with Date format in the prompt. I have used date presentation variables in my column formula as shown below:
    FILTER("SKU Order Details"."Fulfilled Quantity" USING Time."Calendar Date" <= DATE '@{todate}{2900-01-01}')
    The report returns data when I don't select any date range for start & end date prompts on the page. But when I select the start & end date values in the prompt, I m getting the following error:
    Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P:OI2DL65P
    State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 46047] Datetime value 10/22/2009 12:00:00 AM from 10/22/2009 12:00:00 AM does not match the specified format. (HY000)
    I included the following formulas for start & end date prompts:
    Start Date prompt: case when 1=2 then License."Ips Creation Date" else cast ('1.1.1900' as date) end
    End Date prompt: case when 1=2 then License."Ips Creation Date" else cast ('1.1.2900' as date) end
    Can you please help me resolve the issue.
    Thanks,
    Kartik

    Hi Nico,
    I tried putting the format that you mentioned, I m getting an error message.
    My prompts have the following formula :
    Start: case when 1=2 then License."Creation Date" else cast('1.1.1900' as DATE) end
    End: case when 1=2 then Time."Calendar Date" else cast('1.1.2900' as DATE) end
    My column formula has the following syntax:
    FILTER("SKU Order Details"."Fulfilled Quantity" USING Time."Calendar Date" between DATE '@{start}{1900-01-01}' AND DATE '@{end}{2999-01-01}')
    Error Message:

  • SSRS is weird with date format

    hello everyone,
    I've got the weirdest problem.
    At first it was the calendar in internet exporer showing the dutch format (which i want). After choosing the date i try to view the report. It wil tell me the date isnt in the right format.  So for example. 22-02-2015 is wrong and should be 02-22-2015.
    For the normal user this is annoying enough and i dont understand why the datepicker acts different than the report wants.
    But now even stanger. I wanted to put a default date in my variable so i can test a bit easier. So i fill in 31-12-2015 and its accepted. But when i run the report, it tells me that the format is wrong. Soooooo. I changed the default value to 12-31-2015
    (the english format)..... BUT!!! now the variable default value isnt accepted because its not in the right format.
    Can someone please tell me how i can avoid format changes between browsers/platforms/computers or what so ever.
    there is 1 format i want and nothing else. dd-MM-yyyy thats the way and nothing else.

    Hi Fibre1980,
    As per my understanding, when you preview the report, you hope that the date is displayed in the format dd-MM-yyyy in calendar, right?
    In Reporting Services, the format of date in calendar control depends on your client machines language and regional settings. If you want to display date in the format dd-MM-yyyy, you can get parameter values from a query, so that values get populated in a
    dropdown list and displayed in your required format.

  • Trouble with date format

    Hello,
    i need some help with date formats. I am using JDeveloper 11g and am trying to write some SQL commands.
    When i enter the following, everything is working correctly.
    ResultSet query = st.executeQuery("select * from DB.TABLE where DATE > '01-01-2000'");
    I need to make it work so that date can be used from a jtextarea.
    String inputData =jTextArea1.getText();
    ResultSet query = st.executeQuery("select * from DB.TABLE where DATE > " +inputData);
    Query does not return anything.
    Do i need to convert the value of inputData? What other problems could there be?

    Correct. Oracle will implicitly convert the date as shown below (see Predicate Information)
    SQL > explain plan for select * from test where modified_date > '01/01/2008 12:00:00';
    Explained.
    SQL > select * from table(dbms_xplan.display);
    PLAN_TABLE_OUTPUT
    Plan hash value: 3461732445
    | Id  | Operation         | Name  | Rows  | Bytes | Cost (%CPU)| Time     |
    |   0 | SELECT STATEMENT  |       |   677 |   105K|     6   (0)| 00:00:01 |
    |*  1 |  TABLE ACCESS FULL| TEST  |   677 |   105K|     6   (0)| 00:00:01 |
    Predicate Information (identified by operation id):
       1 - filter("MODIFIED_DATE">TO_DATE(' 2008-01-01 12:00:00',
                  'syyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss'))Don't forget to use parameterized queries (a.k.a. bind variables)!

  • Problem with date format mask 'D'

    I am experiencing an extremely thorny problem with the date format mask ‘D’. I am trying to use it to check whether today is a Monday. The variable v_temp_day is set to sysdate. For the last 4 weeks the code has behaved erratically – giving a different result at 02:00 than at 10:30 even though it is only taking account of the date. In desperation I inserted a debug statement formatting the date in a variety of ways – with interesting results. Oracle is somehow managing to tell us that today is simultaneously Monday and Tuesday depending on which format mask you choose. Anyone got any thoughts or suggestions?

  • Problem with date format parameter in SSRS2012 after migration from SSRS2008

    Hello,
    We are migration from
    Reporting Services 2008 on Windows 2008 server
    to
    Reporting Services 2012 with Always On on Windows 2012 server.
    I have a report that expects a date in the querystring: "...&DateTo=17/09/2014"
    This use to work in the previous environment and now fails !
    I logged onto the server with the credentials that runs SSRS and changed its regional settings to French(France): It didn't helped.
    I tried passing in the date otherwise "...&DateTo=09/17/2014": it worked !
    I tried changing the regional settings in my IE and it worked but that can't be a solution... it is still working on my Windows 2008 server... unless there is a statement from Microsoft that it explains that now it works only like this but I would be surprised... is it ?
    I also saw that changing a directive in the web page can help but, why did it stopped working, is it the handling of a default value for regional settings that changed in SSRS ?
    I would need help to understand this, thank you for any help you can provide.

    Hi Claude,
    Based on my research, SQL Server doesn’t supports DD/MM/YYYY date format. When we insert “17/09/2014” value in a date type column, it pops up an error message that “String was not recognized as a valid DateTime”. It means that the value “17/09/2014” is acted
    as “2014/17/09” string. So in your scenario, we cannot get the expect results.
    To work around this issue, we should change it to “09/17/2014”.

  • Help with date format and sql

    Hi
    I am a complete oracle idiot.
    I have created a table with 2 columns po_id,po_date. Yhe id data type is number,date type is date. To add values to the table i enter something like
    "insert into purchase_orders(po_id,po_date) values(1,01/01/2004)"
    It does not accept the date and will not add the record, i have also tried the date format 01-Jan-2004.
    What is the proper way to add the date.
    Thanks
    Garry

    You probably want to use an explicit to_date cast. That lets you specify the format of the date string, i.e.
    INSERT INTO purchase_orders( po_id, po_date )
      VALUES( 1, to_date( '01/01/2004', 'DD/MM/YYYY' );Justin

  • Problem with Date formatting

    Hi Tim,
    I am facing some issues with formatting the date using XMLP. The following is the sample XML data file i am using:
    <LIST_G_HEADER>
    <G_HEADER>
    <QUOTE_HEADER_ID>1455</QUOTE_HEADER_ID>
    <QUOTE_NUMBER>2027</QUOTE_NUMBER>
    <QUOTE_VERSION>1</QUOTE_VERSION>
    <QUOTE_NAME>Test GM Report - Rabindra</QUOTE_NAME>
    <SOURCE_NAME>Fletcher, MR. Paul</SOURCE_NAME>
    <QUOTE_DATE>27-OCT-2005</QUOTE_DATE>
    <CURRENCY_CODE>GBP</CURRENCY_CODE>
    </G_HEADER>
    </LIST_G_HEADER>
    The formatting i use for my date field i.e <QUOTE_DATE>, ends up either with NO formatting or giving me an error "[010906_114656657][][ERROR] Invalid XSD string: 27-OCT-2005 (XMLP Template Viewer)". The default formatting available with the form field dialog box (MS-Word) feature also doesn't work.
    I have the following formatting for this field in the form field:
    <?format-date:QUOTE_DATE; 'MEDIUM' ?>
    When i read the user guide, it reads that the date should be in the canonical format i.e: YYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss+HH:MM
    However i am not getting the date from the base table's in this format. Is the error happening due to incorrect format or is there some other reason behind this? Please let me know, how can i overcome this issue.
    Thx,
    Nitin

    As i mentioned in another thread
    substring function and date format
    Please use this standards
    <?xdofx:expression?>
    for extended SQL functions or
    <?xdoxslt:expression?>
    for extended XSL functions.
    Use like
    <?xdofx:rpad(LAST_NAME),30, ’x’)?>
    <?xdofx:Instr(’abcabcabc’,’a’,2))?>
    <?xdofx:upper(char)?>
    <?xdofx:lower (char)?>
    <?xdofx:greatest ( expr [, expr]... )?>
    ETC.....

  • Problem with date format from Oracle DB

    Hi,
    I am facing a problem with date fields from Oracle DB sources. The date format of the field in DB table is 'Date base type is DATE and DDIC type is DATS'.
    I mapped the date fields to Date characters in BI. Now the data that comes to PSA is in weird format. It shows like -0.PR.09-A
    I have changing the field settings in DataSource  to internal and external and also i have tried mapping these date fields to text fields with out luck. All delivers the same format.
    I have also tried using conversion routines like, CONVERSION_EXIT_IDATE_INPUT to change format. It also delivers me the same old result.
    If anybody of you have any suggestions or if anybody have you experienced such probelms, Please share your experience with me.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Varada

    Thanks for all your reply. I can only the solutions creating view in database. I want some solution to be done in BI. I appreciate if some of you have idea in it.
    The issue again in detail
    I am facing an issue with date fields from oracle data. The data that is sent from Oracle is in the format is -0.AR.04-M. I am able to convert this date in BI with conversion routine in BI into format 04-MAR-0.
    The problem is,  I am getting data of length 10 (Output format) in the format -0.AR.04-M where the month is not in numericals. Since it is in text it is taking one character spacing more.
    I have tried in different ways to convert and increased the length in BI, the result is same. I am wondering if we can change the date format in database.
    I am in puzzle with the this date format. I have checked other Oracle DB connections data for date fields in BI, they get data in the format 20.081.031 which will allow to convert this in BI. Only from the system i am trying creating a problem.
