Inserting a variable value from querystring into captivate and out again

I am using Captivate 4 on a server that uses ASP and I use FrontPage to write my ASP pages.
I have a database built and hosted at the same location as my captivate file.  I used to launch my captivate and then have the user continue to a form page, enter their information and submit to the database.  This all worked great.
Now I need to capture completion of several captivate files (modules).  So I want an ASP page that allows the user to see what modules are done (I use a request form to search my database).  It works great.  It comes back and tells the user what needs to be taken.  They, on that same page, can then select the module to complete next (I have the request querystring added to the URL that launchs the captivate file (I changed it from a html page to an asp page).
It launches fine but I can't figure out how to get that request querystring into captivate as my variable value.  question 1
Then after that is figured out I need to know how to pass that variable back to an ASP page that will contain form questions that will then travel to the database.  (Thus giving them credit for that module).  question 2
Any help would be great.  I am not very good at code, but trying.  My database is Access.

So you want to pass some data into Captivate? This can be achieved with a Flash Widget and FlashVars. Basically you would be able to launch a Captivate project on www.google.com/myProject?myVariable=1 and then get the value of myVariable into a Flash widget. The Flash Widget could then pass this variable into Captivate be populating a custom variable that you have definied within Captivate. From that point on you would be able to use the variable in your Captivate project. Google for Flash Vars to see what can be done with it.
As for the other way around - Captivate sending information to your ASP script - that would also require a widget (or perhaps calling a JavaScript function). From the Flash widget you would be able to pass along data from Captivate to an external script and then use it any way you want.
Hope this points you in the right direction.

  • How to transfer variable value from one query to another query?

    I create two queries which contain the same variable "Year" and "Month".
    In the wad,Query1 is used to be a table and Query2 is used to show the chart in the condition with the same variable value of Query1
    So I want to transfer the variable  value from query1 to query2.
    Can anyone help me ?

    Let me explain the issue in detail.
    In Query Designer, both the year and  month variables are defined by user exit function to read current year and month and can be modified  during the query runtime.
    In WAD, Query1 is  used  to be a table with a table interface to hyperlink a chart which is defined by Query2 with the same variable value of Query1.
    During the runtime of template, if I change the variable value of Query1 , I want the variable of Query2 to be changed automatically with the same new value.
    So in the table interface of Query1 , I write the ABAP code in "SE24" and related source code to the variable is following:
    concatenate
    'function fire_urlJGSP_Col(filter) {'
    Cl_rsr_www_renderer=>c_lf
    'chart_url="' url '" + "&CMD=LDOC'
    '&TEMPLATE_ID=GCCHART_9' "WEB ID of the work book
    '&PAGEID=Graphics'       "Name of the view
    '&CMD=PROCESS_VARIABLES&SUBCMD=VAR_SUBMIT&VAR_NAME=Z2MYEAR&VAR_VALUE_EXT=" + filter'
    Cl_rsr_www_renderer=>c_lf
    'openWindow(chart_url,"chart_window","dependent=yes","600",'
    '"450","true")'
    Cl_rsr_www_renderer=>c_lf
    into l_coding.
    In this way , I can only transfer the year variable value from Query1 to Query2 and not two variables .
    So , how  shall I do to transer the two variable value in the same?

  • How can i insert the variable value in MS ACCES Query

    i am creating one Query (query1) in MS ACCESS ( like we creaate Tables, Forms and Reports in MS ACCESS ) in this Query i have given 2 constent value in BETWEEN CLAUSE , after that i Created a CROSS QUERY which is based on the privious Query (query1).
    Now i want to insert the variable value using JSP and HTML in to Query(query1).
    Doing this i want to execute the Query (query1) with variable perameters and
    wants to get the risponce form CROSS QUERY.
    In this matter how can i insert the value in Query(query1) using JDBC and JSP.

    The query is
    Select ZMSGMAP.GROUP_CODE as 'group', ZMSDSTATE.STATE_DESC as 'state', ZMSTRN.YRMON, sum(ZMSTRN.CMAQTY) as 'qty' from ZMSDSTATE,ZMSGMAP,ZMSTRN Where ZMSTRN.STATE=ZMSDSTATE.STATE and ZMSTRN.PLANT=ZMSGMAP.PLANT_CODE and ZMSTRN.YRMON between "+p1+" and "+p2+" Group by ZMDGMAP.GROUP_CODE, ZMSDSTATE.STSTE_DESC, ZMSTRN.YRMONUsing this query i m trying to display the risult but the YRMON is displaying in a single column, i want to display it ia seperat columns. here p1 and p2 is YRMON(it is the yer month like 200102), for this solution i have created Cross table Query which is based on uper Query (query1) and design it column wise Display, it is givng the right display, but the problem is this i m not getting the technique throw which i can insert the variable values in to the query1 (which is designed in MS ACCESS).

  • Insert 600 variable values in pop up filter of a web query

    Hello all,
    in order to analyze some Material movements I have to insert 600 material numbers in the selction of a query. In Bex Analyzer I can copy and paste the variable in the variable pop up screen.
    But when I execute the query in web the filter pop up screen is different to the sap gui pop up screen from Bex Analyzer.
    How can I insert 600 variable values in the variable filter screen when I execute a query in web?
    The BW release is 3.5 Any ideas would be great.

  • How to derive a variable value from another variable of a different IO?

    Hi Gurus,
    I am aware that using BEx variables and Customer Exit you are able to derive a variable value from another variable of the same infoobject (for example, Fiscal Year/Period (0FISCPER) and Calendar Day (0CALDAY)).
    However, is is possible, using the same approach to derive a variable value from another variable that is in a different InfoObject? (for example, Input Fiscal Year/Period (0FISCPER) but derive Output of Required Start Date (0REQSTDAT))?
    There are 2 BEx variables involved,
    1) A user entry variable that is restricted in 0FISCPER
    2) A customer exit variable that is restricted in ZREQSTDAT
    In CMOD under EXIT_SAPLRRS0_001, Include ZXRSRU01, the code (I assume, correct me if I'm wrong) should perform 3 functions in I_STEP = 2,
    1) After the pop up, capture user entry of Fiscal Year/Period
    2) Identify or convert Fiscal Year/Period to Calendar Day range (unsure on how to code this portion)
    3) Use the Calendar Day to lookup on matching Required Start Date and display all Required Start Date that matches. (unsure on how to code on this portion)
    Hope to hear your thoughts soon.
    Regards,
    Eric

    Hi Shanthi,
    I've made the necessary adjustments. The only difference in my code is,
    Instead of,
    If I_VNAM = 'ZREQSTDAT'
    I use,
    CASE I_VNAM.
    Instead of,
    PARAMETERS: ZFISCPER TYPE /BI0/OIFISCPER.
    ZYEAR = ZFISCPER(4).
    ZMM = ZFISCPER+4(3).
    I use ,
    This is the Customer Exit Variable in ZREQSTDAT
    WHEN 'ZRSD_CX'.
    The loop I use for the User Entry Variable in 0FISCPER-ZFYP_IN
      LOOP AT I_T_VAR_RANGE INTO LOC_VAR_RANGE
          WHERE VNAM = 'ZFYP_IN'.
        IF SY-SUBRC = 0.
            CLEAR L_S_RANGE.
    ZYEAR = LOC_VAR_RANGE(4).
    ZMM = LOC_VAR_RANGE+4(3).
    The codes were checked with no errors.
    However, when I input the Fiscal Year/Periods and hit 'Execute'. The report went blank, not sure what is the cause. I've tried it several times. No error message appeared.

  • Passing global variable values from databse to forms

    I am using forms 6i and database is oracle 9i.
    I am trying to run a form stand alone ( by pressing CTRL-R) without putting it in the application.
    since when this form is placed in the application menu it works fine as it has been passed global variables values from the database .
    now i am trying to run the form without menu and thus i want to pass the values of global variables .please let me know where should i pass these values in form .is it be WHEN-NEW-FORM-Instance trigger or in Pre-form trigger.
    i know what are the global variable values passing into the form from database.
    i can hard code any values to check if the form runs well or not.

    If you intend to do this sort of testing regularly you might want to consider creating a seperate form with a control block which allows entry of the name of the form you want to run, the names of the globals and their values, and do a CALL_FORM.

    i think normally u will get data from databsae as objects.they are like java beans having getter and setter methods.so you create a collection of those objects like collect all the objects coming from database into an arraylist or....
    suppose you want to populate the dropdown box with say "username" from database object s, your code will look like that
    <html:select property="name">
    <html:options collection="databaseList" property="username" />
    </html:select>
    "databaseList" is collection(say.. ArrayList) of objects you are getting from database.this dropdown will contain all the "usernames" you are getting from database.

  • Passing field value from appoinment into task

    Hi,
    I need to pass the field values from appointment into the task. I was able to pass values from one record type to another but in this case as both appointment and task belong to the same record type namely activity and they are having the same foreign key namely ActivityId.
    So any one please tell me , is it possible to pass values from appointment in to the task or not ?
    If so how?
    Thanks,
    Kirubahar.

    Write a workflow and select the field you want to copy the value into in the Field Name and the value you want to copy in value field, you don't need to use joinfieldValue at all.

  • Passing variable values from WAD to BEx

    Hi Experts,
    I am working with a query which is included in a web template. At the top of this template, I have several variables included in drop down boxes for the user to navigate through the data.
    With clicking at "open in Excel" a BEx-Query is started.
    My question: How can I pass the variable values from those drop down boxes to my Query in BEx?
    The current HTML code for starting the Excel BEx-Query looks like this:
    http://sapserver:port/x/x/x/rsr_bex_launch/bexanalyzerportalwrapper.htm?QUERY=Queryname
    Thanks in advance
    Marco

    If you export your report after selecting required drop down values, your report will be saved to Excel as it was filtered. You do not need any HTML code for this.
    My question: How can I pass the variable values from those drop down boxes to my Query in BEx?
    Why do you want to re-execute your query when you have already ouptut in the first screen shot?

  • Need to take a value from the csv file and query in a OAF page.

    Hello,
    I have a requirement to take the list of employee numbers in a csv file and display its corresponding job on the page.
    I have created a item 'MessageFileupload' where the user will upload the csv file containing the employee number and a Button 'Display Jobs' which will display the corresponding jobs on the page.
    Any idea how to take the values from the csv file and query it?

  • Is it possible to import a mock up from Omnigraffle into Reflow and edit the mockup on Reflow ?

    Is it possible to import a mock up from Omnigraffle into Reflow and edit the mockup on Reflow ?

    I don't have omnigraffle so I can tell for sure, but the main way in would be if you can get those things in omnigraffle to come into photoshop as layer shapes. Is there an omnigraffle forum to ask about better PSD export? Once you have the layers in the PSD then the import to Reflow should work well.
    Hope that helps,

    My ipod touch 4th gen will not turn on, i have held the power and home buttons, i have plugged my ipod into itunes and tried again, yet nothing happens, what should i do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • ITunes Match error: iTunes Match has encountered an error. Please choose Sign Out and then Sign In from the Store menu and try again.

    I have just subscribed to iTunes Match, and get the above error message.  I have signed out and signed in several times, and still get the same message.  Can anyone help with a solution?

    I have Just upgraded my mac from Itunes 11.0 to itunes 11.02, this issue occured within hours of the updated.
    It seems to occur about every couple of hours for me, I can still access the apple store, but music match just dies with the message: "iTunes Match has encountered an error. Please choose Sign Out and then Sign In from the Store menu and try again."
    As it takes a good ten minuites for itunes
    If this is also occuring in Itunes 11, the previous Discussions are probably not relevant.
    Itunes 11 has had significant changes applied, so it would be reasoble to assume this is not the same fault and Apple have some how broken Itunes again.
    I might try to downgrade to itunes 11.0, as it looks like music match faults are not high on apples priorities, it looks like took them almost a year to fix this fault last time it occured.
