Inserting an iframe inside of Flash 8, possible?

Hello,
I'm creating a small Flash object. I have four URLs that I
want to display and dynamically change through Flash, but I'm not
sure how to display these pages. I tried creating a dynamic textbox
that displays html. I set a variable and put an iframe there
pointing to the url I want to show. Is there a way to show html
pages with Flash that works properly? Using this method, it shows
the text inside of the iframe tags, but it doesn't render the
actual page.
A bit of background - I'm using four small php pages, so I
can't make them static, and I don't have the source code for the
php, so I can't work with it anywhere other than the URLs that I'm
getting. The size of each piece is 125x125 or so.
Any tips would be appreciated, thanks :)

Flash only supports a handful of html tags natively, so the
short answer is, no, you can't do that. However, there are a few
xhtml render classes floating around that will render many many
more tags, including iframes. However, these implementations have
VERY specific style and construction limitations, and of course
don't support any scripting, so if you don't have control over the
content, then it's pretty much hopeless.

Not exactly sure how you where planning to display that HTML content in relation to the overall page, but given the limitations of Flash... that may just not be possible...
But, it would be a simple matter to display an HTML iframe over the top of or behind a Flash .swf... So while the iframe would not be a part of the .swf, it certainly could be designed to make it look as though it were.
Controling the stacking order or layering of content on a Web page is accomplished through z-indexing. Correctly positioned and z-indexed, the iframe could apear over the top of the .swf... the .swf in effect being the background... OR the iframe could appear behind the .swf and with a transparent section in the .swf, the iframe would appear through that hole. If there is navigation or links in the iframe, they will be blocked by the .swf though.

probably not the way you are thinking.
flash textfields and their extensions have a limited number of html tags they can parse so, in general, html from most web pages will not display, as expected in flash.

Yes, it is.
The easiest way for me is access the custom shape tool, and within that the Symbols library. You will find the copy right sign. Just drag it out. It will be on its own layer. Enter the rest of the info with the Type tool.
The symbol can also be found in the character map on a Windows system.
If you have multiple photos that you wish to mark, it is very efficient to make a copyright brush and apply with a click of the mouse.

How to insert a HTML file in Flash

hi,
When a new flash page is opened, i want to see a HTML file
is inserted and shown in the flash page directly. I know it's not
easy. The URL of the HTML is known.
For example, i want to see the "

in a small window in flash page.

I give you a code but first you need create a dynamic text
box to render the html inside soo create a dynamic text box and
give a instance name, before put this simple code in the frame.

Editing swfobject.js code so hyperlinks inside the flash widget open in a new window

I have a flash calendar widget (code shown directly below) and I do not have access to anything other than the compiled .swf file (no access to .fla).
The widget contains some hyperlinks to other websites, these links are dynamic and changes based on a number of things.
There is also a corresponding swfobject.js file that is used to add functionality to the flash widget. The swfobject.js code is shown further down this post.
Currently, the way the code is now, when I click any of the hyperlinks that are available to me in the widget, the destination website that hyperlink takes me to opens in THE SAME PAGE as the flash widget which is a big problem.
I need to edit the code below so that any hyperlinks that are clicked inside of the flash widget open in a brand new browser window and do not take the user away from the original widget other than opening a new page with new content.
Because the hyperlinks that are available are always changing, the swfobject code below uses some functions and parameters.
I am hoping you can show me exactly what code I must insert, and exactly where I must insert it, in order to alter the behavior that happens so that when a user clicks one of the hyperlinks inside the flash widget, so that the content at the other end of the hyperlink opens in a new window, instead of opening in the same window.

In that case, I will have no choice but to decompile the .swf to get the .fla because the original .fla is un-obtainable. Unless there is a way to edit the contents of the .swf file without decompiling it.
I can see the code inside via various decompile tools and it seems that I would need to add the equivalent of <src target=_blank> to some of the lines I have shown below.

I know a lot of decompile tools can get you the code and the .fla but once you edit and re-compile and attempt to replace the original with the new & updated file, the decompiler did not necessarily generate the properly formatted flash pro project file, so compiling it back into an operational .swf often ends in failure.
Do you know or can you recommend a tool that has a very good track record of re-compiling the decompiled modified.fla into a workable and usable .swf?

is it possible to change the z-index of two separate symbols?
Lets say you have layer one with mytargetsymbol as the symbol
and then layer two with texthover1
Can a function on mousenter swap them between the z-index.
I was thinking of something like the following which didn't work.
I was also thinking something like adding a +[i] option. Stepping the z index + 1 forward everytime you mouse over between the two symbols because unless you wrote a mouse out event putting it back to it's original z-index how else would you do it?

i want to know how i can put a flash file inside a flash wbsite. i have found a tutorial http://www.ehow.com/how_4906532_within-another-flash-swf-file.html that says something like that but in this tutorial if i understand correctly it creates a new flash project and add another swf inside. i have my website created and i just want to add video gallery, image gallery etc that are already swf. how i can do that?

You can use swf inside of another swf.
If you are using Actionscript2 then learn about LoadMovie
And for AS3 it is Loader.

I am very new to this forum + having a basic level of
understanding with Flash Software (like Flash MX & Adobe CS3).
By profession i am online trafficker, and because of the fact that
our Flash Creative Designer has gone on a leave, i therefore
stumble upon with a challenge of inserting a "clickTag" in a flash
banner.
Here my expertise stands null, but yeah offocurse i did try
many options but no result.
So guys help me in this, what i wish to know the exact step
by step procedure to insert a "clickTag" in a Flash banner for both
Flash MX version 6 & Adobe CS3 version.
I'll be happy if you guys come up with any step by step

Right, well who could blame Adobe for saying that? It's not
Adobe's fault. It's that most of the hosting sites have cold feet
(IMHO) and fear that they'll have viewers who don't have the latest
version which means their advertisers won't get the most bang for
their buck.
I keep waiting for them to at least increase the max
allowable player version to FP8... but I have not seen that yet...
will keep my fingers crossed that it happens soon. But what it
boils down to is that you need to check with the hosting site
before designing a banner so that you don't include filters (FP8)
or use AS3 (FP9) if they are not supporting those players
yet.

Calling iBrowser Object from iframe inside iframe

Normally i can get the selected value of iBrowser using this method.
var myString =document.appletname.getBrowserObject().getSelectedDatalinkValue();
But in my case i have iframe inside iframe. In 2nd iframe i am calling iBrowser.
I need to get the selected value of iBrowser in an iframe inside another iframe.
I tried iframe1.iframe2.document.appname.....
But i didn't get any value. Can anybody suggest regarding this.

Try the following:
window.frames["TheIFrameName"].document.appletname.getBrowserObject().getSelectedDatalinkValue();
This should work as long as both IFrames are sourced from the same server. Cross-frame scripting when the sources are different servers is usually not permitted by the browser for security reasons.

website, but am kinda stuck when it comes to switching pages on the

loadMovie is your new best friend.
The best way to use this is to create an empty movie symbol,
put it on the
timeline and give it an instance name (placeHolder for
example). Then you
can load another swf into that placeHolder clip with the
following script:
placeHolder.loadMovie("whatever.swf");
This is a GREAT way to cut down on the initial load time of a
site because
you only load what you need when you need it.
You can really have some fun when you start controlling
objects on the main
timeline from your loaded movies and vice versa.

As you say, Flash does not support html table tags. Create your own tables using textfields and if you need borders around cells use either textfield borders or lines surrounding the textfields.
