Inserting PDF Filename

Hello there...
I have a very hard job to do here in the office...Documentation in general...
So my problem is this (and i think it's somewhat complicated, at least for me)
I have to scan about a dozen of thousands of applications (style: form) and then i have to save and name them.
THE PROBLEM:
The name of PDF has to be a application field-number, with many characters.
I want this number to be pdf's filename while i'm saving....
Conclusion: Because of the outrageous number of papers that have to be scanned, i lookup for a solution that will help me from spending time on writing each PDF's filename
Thank you very much for your time..
I appreciate any help...

Please tell us how it is you’re trying to save the PDFs. There are many tags and functions in CFML that you could be using. We really need more details to understand how best to propose a solution for you.
Also, you have raised this in the context of a documentation comment. (That’s what this “documentation” forum is about. Not about documentation as a task or role in general.) If you don’t find you get a good answer here, you may want to raise this instead in the CF Getting Started forum, http://forums.adobe.com/community/coldfusion/coldfusion_getting_started?view=discussions.
Hope that’s helpful.

    Is there a way to automatically insert the filename of a spreadsheet into the footer when using iworks numbers 3.2?  iworks 09 had this feature and I can't find this feature in the new version of numbers.

    Hi rhyolite,
    In Numbers 3.x, The Print View and Layout View have gone (for now at least). Page Headers and Footers can only be reached under Menu > File > Print... to open Print Preview. Hover the cursor to reveal the Page Header and Footer fields.
    The only inserts that I can get to work in Print Preview are Page Number, Page Count and Date & Time. Filename is no longer in the Insert menu.

    I have a question about extracting pages.  When I do the function, adobe saves the individual files as "<file name><space><page number>", so the files look like this "filename 1.pdf", "filename 2.pdf", "filename 3.pdf".  Without too many gory details, I am using excel to concatenate some data to dynamically build a hyperlink to these extraced files.  It casues me problems, however, for the space to be the the file name.  Is there any way to change the default behavoir of this function to perhaps use a dash or underscore instead of a space?

    No, you can't change the default naming scheme. You can do it yourself if you extract the pages using a script instead of using the built-in command.

  • FM10 Book to PDF - show title (not PDF filename) in Reader header?

    FrameMaker 10.0.2.419 + Distiller X Pro 10.1.438 -> Adobe Reader X
    I have a FM book file with a title along the lines of 'Worked Examples'. When I save it to PDF with Distiller and view the PDF in Adobe Reader X, the reader's header bar shows the PDF filename e.g. wex.pdf, but I want it to show the book title Worked Examples.
    I assume there's a setting in Distiller that forces Reader to show the book title not the file name, but having trawled through the settings/help/forums I can't see it. It's probably blindingly obvious (when you know the answer!), but can anyone tell me how I can get Reader to show a book's title in its header?

    Note: I have partially solved this issue by loading the PDF into Acrobat X Pro and going to File > Properties, and on the Doc Properties > Initial View tab selecting 'Show = Document Title', and then saving the PDF. I'm hoping to figure out (or get told!) a way of achieving this from my FM10 book file though.

  • PDF Filename is entire path

    I am outputting a report to PDF and its all working fine
    except for one thing, and that is that the pdf's filename is the
    entire path to the file instead of just the filename. This is the
    code I am using in the cfdocument tag:
    <cfdocument format="pdf"
    filename="#request.baseRefTempFile#\#form.collectorLongName#_AssignedSamples.pdf"
    fontembed="yes" overwrite="yes"
    saveasname="#form.collectorLongName#_AssignedSamples.pdf"
    scale="100">
    request.basereftempfile is a variable pointing at the folder
    where the pdf is saved. Its saving it there correctly. Its just the
    filename is the entire path but it omits the directory slashed and
    replaces them with underscores.
    Any help would be much appreciated .Thanks very much

    I am currently using the same method and the working code is
    below. I do not use the saveasname. Have you tried without?
    <cfdocument
    filename="#application.reportPath##dateFormat(todaysDate,'yyyymmdd')#-#UserKey#.pdf"
    format="PDF" pagetype="letter" margintop="0" marginbottom="0"
    marginright="0" marginleft="0" orientation="portrait"
    backgroundvisible="yes" overwrite="yes" fontembed="yes">

  • Inserting pdf files in word for mac

    For the life of me I can't figure out how to insert pdf files in my word for mac document. I can insert the first page of the file by inserting it as an object but can't figure out how to insert the entire document.
    Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    It actually isn't an odd thing to do. I have been working on a word document - a final report - for a client. I need to add several pdf files as part of the appendices. If I was printing off only a hard copy, I would simply print the pdf file and add them to the end of the report. However, my clients require that the entire document include all the appendices - on one document - to make it simple for anyone who needs to see the final report. I also need to mention that the pdf file is translated document in Inukutuk and I cannot simply copy it and then insert it as the fonts will not translate properly. Complicated I know.... When I insert the document only the first page of the 45 page Inuk document is inserted.
    The pdf files came to me from the translators and I don't know what kind of pdf file it is - I can't tell.
    Not sure if that is helpful or not...
    thanks.

  • Unable to insert pdf object into 64-bit Word 2010

    I have always been able to insert pdf files into word documents.  However, when I upgraded to the 64-bit version of Word, I started experiencing the below issue.
    My setup is: Windows 7 64-bit, Word 2010 64-bit, Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro v9.4.7.
    When I attempt to insert a pdf file into Word, I receive the following message:
    "The program used to create this object is AcroExch.  That program is either not installed on your computer or it is not responding.  To edit this object, install AcroExch or ensure that any dialog boxes in AcroExch are closed."
    I have researched this issue a great deal.
    Previously, I found a posting which specified some registry keys to delete.  I followed these directions and it worked.  But, after installing some updates, the issue is back and I am unable to find the post specifying the registry keys to remove.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Brandon

    Solution:
    Open Adobe Reader / Pro
    Go to Edit àPreferenceà General (LHS)àUncheck “Enable protected mode at startup”.
    Adobe Reader’s protected mode will be disabled
    Now try inserting Adobe document in Word, it will work.

  • Inserting pdf in word

    While inserting pdf file in word document, quality (resolution) of pdf is decreased.
    Before while using Win XP and office 2003 the same was not happening.
    Now using Win 7 and office 2010

    I don't see how installing Acrobat will affect this internal Word functionality... The only thing connection might be that before you created your PDF files with Word (since Reader can not create PDF files), and now you're creting them with Acrobat, and Word "handles" its own PDF files better than those Acrobat creates, or something like that.

  • Inserting PDF inc. comments as an Object in MS Excel

    Hi,
    I created a PDF document (Adobe Acrobat Standard 9) including a text box comment in that PDF. When I try to insert this document in a MS Excel Spreadsheet by using "Insert --> Object --> Adobe PDF Document" the inserted PDF in Excel does not show the Text Box comment anymore but the rest of the PDF looks okay. At the same time when the PDF is inserted in Excel, Adobe Acrobat pops up and shows the PDF document still containing the text box comment!
    Does anybody knows how I get my Excel to show the comment Text box in the inserted PDF document??
    Many thanks in advance
    Georg

    fwiw -
    In the Pro release there are Preflights that will flatten.
    Also, doing a Print that uses the Adobe PDF "driver" has, in the Print dialog, a drop-down (upper right) that lets one select
    printing the PDF Document, Document & Markups, Documents & Stamps, or Form fields only.
    Must flatten the annotations into the PDF page content because, otherwise, they are not of the page content (which is the PDF object being inserted).
    Be well...

    How to insert pdf file to adobe reader in windows phone 8? which directory?

    An other way is to copy the pdf with Windows explorer into the path /documents of the phone. Open Office and choose Adobe Reader. The pdf will be copyed in the Sandbox of the Reader and You may read it. You may delete the PDF in the documents path. It will still be in the Readers sandbox. All without any cloud ;-)!

  • 6i PDF filename while saving

    Hi all,
    I have report6i and we are generating reports in PDF format.
    While saving the PDF file name contains url, how
    to format PDF filename?
    Please help urgently.
    thanks

    Hi,
    When you use destype=CACHE, the desname is disregarded. The reason is that the PDF file name does not matter when it is opened in the browser. It only makes sense for users to specify the filename when you are "saving" the file. So that is why desname value is taken when you use destype=FILE.
    If you want the PDF to first appear in the browser, and then you want to save it with a particular name, just choose File > Save As from the browser or from the PDF toolbar.
    While saving the PDF file name contains urlI guess you just need to manually overwrite this with the file name you want.

  • Get pdf filename during initialize:

    I wonder to get the pdf filename during initialize, may i know is it possible?
    Thanks your concern.
    Tham

    ASFileSysOpenProc is not suitable. It is used for the opening of all
    files, not just PDF files, and you do not provide it for the standard
    filesystem: it is a standard part of Acrobat.
    Since it is documents you are interested in, rather than files, you
    would want to look at the document related callbacks (CosDoc, PDDoc,
    AVDoc). I can see why you wouldn't find it though, the Acrobat API
    documents are breathtakingly awful, ever since someone had the bright
    idea of replacing a human editor with a programmer generated file.
    You need to use the PDDocDidOpen notification (notification is the
    buzzword here, not callback), registered with
    AVAppRegisterNotification. Try documents from an older version of the
    SDK, the Acrobat 8 SDK is beyond a joke.
