Inserting records using DB link
Hi,
I'm trying to insert a record using a db_link into a table which has EXTRAFIELDSTYPE column and I'm getting the error PLS-00453: remote operations not permitted on object tables or user-defined type columns. Is there anyway I can insert records into the table?

Could you please explain what you are trying to accomplish? Inserting records into a table from Forms is as simple as executing an INSERT statement in a Forms trigger or as complicated as overriding the Forms default INSERT functionality by defining your own On-Insert trigger. Your requirements will dictate where and how you do your INSERT.

Problem inserting record using INSERT INTO
I am an amateur web builder using some ColdFusion functionality to access information on an Access database. I know very little about ColdFusion syntax, but I'm using Dreamweaver CS3 to help generate most of the code. I'm working on an insert record page to create a user database with login information. I'm not sure what the problem is, but I'm getting a syntax error referencing this particular portion of the code:

That oh-so-uninformative error is because "Password" is a reserved word with your database driver. Either escape it by putting square brackets around it too, or rename the column permanently. It is best to avoid using reserved words whenever possible. So renaming the column is the better option. Also, I would try and avoid using invalid characters like spaces in column names ie "First Name". It is technically allowed, but it requires special handling everywhere which adds unecessary complexity.

CF is pretty easy to learn. You might want to begin perusing the CF documentation and a few tutorials to get more familiar with the language. Since you are working with a database, I would also recommend a SQL tutorial. -
ORA-03113 error occurs when trying to insert record using procedure
I have a Database Block whose DML Data Target Type is Procedure. I have given the Insert Procedure Name, Insert Procedure Arguments and Insert Procedure ResultSet Columns. The procedure which is used to insert record into the table, resides in the database. The procedure for insert takes Table of records as argument. I am getting FRM-40735: INSERT-PROCEDURE trigger raised unhandled exception ORA-03113).
This exception does not occur if the Procedure is place under Program Units. But, I want the procedure to be under Database Block. I am working on Oracle Forms 6i.

Inserting record using form does not work. Please Help
I am trying to insert a record using INSERT INTO command in a form followed by commit.
I put the command in when-button-press trigger( I use a button to initiate insert into table command).
But it does insert the record into the table.
Then I try to ignore the INSERT INTO command and only use COMMIT, and it works.
But when I use control block, I can not use commit only to insert into table.
Is there anything that I have missed ?

Thank you, I really appreciate any response.Setting your block as a datablock with source as a specified table and a number of items connected to specified columns gives you direct access to your table. Thus your commit alone will work. The second you change this to a control block, you cut your connection to the table. Thus you must use an insert into statement followed by a commit. By the way, when you use a commit statement, it processes exactly like a commit_form inbuilt function.

Why there is a berkeleydb auto inserted record using secondary db?

How are you managing your authentication? Via SQL Server? Inside your app? Using Active Directory?
The insert proc itself isn't a big deal. You'll have to provide the user a form within your app to submit the data, and probably pass it to your proc as variables:

I want to insert multiple records on a database using a stored procedure. I wanted to insert those records using a Database Adapter and the Database adapter should be invoked by a Mediator.
Can somebody suggest me with ideas whether it can be acheived with OOB capabtilities in SOA suite or not?

ShivThe use case you want to achieve is feature supported by the DBAdapter and it is possible to invoke the same from mediator.
Please have a look at the oracle documentation and you should be able to get the necessary information.

Using Crystal 2008 to insert records into a table
Hi,
We have a unique need to use Crystal to insert records into a table. We have managed to test a report that can write into a temporary table. This is done by using sql command object and uses the following code :
INSERT INTO TEMP_TABLE (ORDERID)
VALUES ({?orderid}) (-- where orderid a parameter).
This test report asks for an order id and then inserts the record perfectly fine.
Now moving on to the real report - This report basically prints orders in batches and we want to insert order id into a temporary table to ensure we don't print orders that were already printed. To do this we created a sub report "insert orders" that has the above insert command. The main report passes the orderid to subreport and the idea is that the subreport would insert each time an order is passed. So if main report printed 50 orders ids, the then it would do 50 inserts individually into the temp table.
This however is NOT working. The report runs fine but there is no insert. Our hunch is that Crystal is not committing after every order id is passed from the main report. Not sure if we can set the AUTO COMMIT ON as a default somewhere?
Wondering if any one has attempted this or has any insights?

Environment is - Crystal 2008 and Oracle 11GR2, we are using Oracle drivers (and not odbc)Hmmm... I don't use Oracle but the syntax looks good...
You've already tested it and I assume that you are using the same driver in the production report as you used in the test, so that shouldn't be an issue...
how are you pulling the data? Is the final SELECT statement that pulls the report data in the same command as the INSERT script, or is the INSERT script in it's own command?
The reason I ask... If you are trying to pass a multi-valued parameter to a command, it won't work. If you have the insert command as it's own command while the data is being pulled with linked tables or a separate command, it is possible that the report itself will execute as expected w/o passing a value to the insert script.
If it's all in 1 command (as it should be), a bad parameter would fail in the final SELECT causing an error.
Also... are rows null or empty string values being added to table when the report executes? This would be an indication that the command is being executed but isn't getting the parameter value.

Looking at the error message assuming you might be doing the alter table statement on remote table unit_labels which is throwing the ORA-22804 error which is not permitted on remote tables.
