Inserting text at a specific line number.

Hello,
My need is to insert specific text at a line number to be determined at run time. I know how to write to new files and append to existing ones, but I have not been able to find any documentation displaying how to traverse to a specific line in a text file. More specifically, of course I know how to use looping constructs, but I have seen no file I/O classes with a "skip line" method to get to my insertion point.

depending on the size of the files read them into a buffer use a loop to get to a specific point and write back to file.*
Note I am sure there are many better ways to do this but this was the first thing that came to mind that would be easy for a new person to get.

How to put value of specific line number in BDC

I am working on a BDC (MI04)which has 3 fields as header:
Document Number:
Date:
Fiscal Year.
After entering I get a screen having default Material Number, its description and its serial number. There is one field named QTY where I need to push the value through BDC.
But the issue is that I am not able to reach to that Material Code to push the qty value. I am getting the Material Code and its serial number in the text file from user.
May some times the given material code in on the NEXT PAGE (P+). So dont know how to go to the next page and push the qty in front of the correct material code..
Please help. Its very very urgent.

Moving caret to a specific line number

I'm working on a text editor and I've been struggling with the goto function. I've tried several different things and I'm close. I can calculate the correct x and y coordinates to send the caret to, but I can't make it move. Here is what I have now:

We can refer to the rows of table in PowerPoint using
Rows Object (PowerPoint) and use Rows.Add method to insert the row to the sepcfic position we wanted.
Here is an sample using the
Add method to add a row to a table. This example inserts a row before the second row in the referenced table.

Find Line Number in Text Member

I would like to drop in a line of text after a specific phrase in a text member. To find the right place to drop the text, I must first determine the line number the specific phrase text is located. Now, I can use a REPEAT to walk through each line until it is found, but there must be a more elegant way. The code "Offset" is great for finding the first character number of the specific phrase, but I don't know how to glean the line number from that.
Currently this is how I do it...

A more elegant approach might be to use a regular expression, but I'm not sure I understand your requirements well enough to make a sensible recommendation.
You could try the following JavaScript handler and invoke it like:

However, this will place the pasted text immediately after the search phrase and not at the end of the line. It is possible to do this with a regular expression, but I'd have to dust off my copy of Friedl's "Mastering Regular Expressions" to craft it for you and I don't have either the time or inclination at present.

Replacing text in Text File in a perticuler line number

I know the line number of user nik(no=3) how can i replace that full line only with new values
or a particular part (checkout=yes).According to each event i have to change a specific part in text file for that user .

Read the first two lines and write them to a new file. Write the new values for line 3 to that new file. Read the rest of the lines and write them to that new file. Close all the files, delete the old file, rename the new file.

Having trouble reading specific lines from a text file and displaying them in a listbox

I am trying to read specific lines from all of the text files in a folder that are reports. When I run the application I get the information from the first text file and then it returns this error: "A first chance exception of type 'System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException'

Ok, so if I'm following this correctly you should be able to just loop through all of the files in that folder whose file name matches the pattern and then read the first 22 lines, recording only the first and the last.
Exactly how you store the animal data probably depends on how you are going to display it and what else you are going to do with it. Is there anything other than name and cage number that should be associated with each animal?
You might want to make a dataset with a datatable to describe the animal, or you might write a class, or you might just use something generic like a Tuple. Here's a simple class example:

Then you might bind the animals list to a ListBox, or loop through the list and populate a ListView. If you decided to fill a datatable instead of making Animal instances, then you might bind the resulting table to a DataGridView.

What i need to do is some things:
1. Each time the line start with ComboBox then to get only the ComboBox name from the line for example cmbxOption.
Since i have already this ComboBoxes in my form1 designer i need to identify where the cmbxOption start and end and when the next ComboBox start cmbxStorage.
2. To get all the lines of the current ComboBox for example this lines belong to cmbxOption:

3. To create from each line a Key and Value for example from the line:

Then the key will be Win32_1394Controller and the value will be only 1394Controller

4. To add to the correct belonging ComboBox only the value 1394Controller.
5. To make that when i select in the ComboBox for example in cmbxOption the item 1394Controller it will act like i selected Win32_1394Controller.
For example in this event:

Script to find a specific section in file & insert text below - how?

I am dealing with kind of a problem here - I am using pekwm as my window manager and I use menumaker to automatically update the menu on every startup. My problem is that the original pekwm, the first two sections called 'terminal' and 'Run' and the last two sections called 'Go To' and 'pekwm' are overwritten/modified by mmaker so that there's only the applications submenues and 'pekwm' with the 'Themes' section erased and I want to somehow preserve all that. I was thinking of creating a bash script that does the mmaker thing and then use 'sed' or 'echo' to insert the code back into the appropiate areas of ~/.pekwm/menu.
All I really need to know is how to find a particular string of code in the menu file and insert a block of text below that line using sed or echo.
Any ideas?

Looks interesting. But I'd like to keep it as simple as possible and avoid the part with the extra textfiles and just insert the code text straight into the menu file, kind of like this:

Is there a way to specify text-to-speech to dictate a specific line or page in a pdf file?
In fact, it would be cool if text-to-speech highlighted each word that is being spoken through out the document during dictation and you could rewind, pause or fastforward the speech in real-time. Is this feature available? if not, can anyone recommend any other programs that can do this?

Yes!
With fully modern Cocoa applications (like Safari, Preview, TextEdit, and Mail) you can select the line or page and then from the application menu > Services > Speech > Start Speaking Text
You can also select and then Control-Click on the selection and then pick Speech > Start Speaking Text from the contextual menu. (Works with Safari, TextEdit, and Mail, but not Preview for PDF.)

JEditorPane - getting Selected Text or Active Line number

Is there any predefined method that will give me the current line selected or the line at which the cursor is?
I am displayed a piece of java code in my JEditorPane, the user can browse through the entire file.. and I need to call an event when a user selects/double clicks a particular module name or based on the current line number where the cursor is. Is there any simple technique to get the line number or the current highlighted text?
I am relatively new to JEditorPane. Also If you think I shoudl go upon writing an actionListener, a mouse of keyboard... please let me know how to go about it. I keep getting confused.

there any simple technique to get the line number Well, a JEditorPane is typically used for displaying HTML. So does a line number make sense when you don't know the contents of the HTML. If you simply have lines of text then you should be using a JTextArea or a JTextPane.

The line number of the debit item or credit memo to which a payment or credit memo is applied
So, I want to use APPLIED_CUSTOMER_TRX_LINE_ID to join with transaction's line (RA_CUSTOMER_TRX_LINES_ALL).
But after applied the credit memo, the APPLIED_CUSTOMER_TRX_LINE_ID is NULL.

The application is already at the AR Invoice (header) level. Oracle doesn't give you privilege to apply the invoice at invoice line or distribution level. You need to match the applied_customer_trx_id to customer_trx_id of ra_customer_trx_all to get the applied invoice/debit memo number. Hope my comments are helpful to you.
