Insertion point on Word doc

How do I change the size of my insertion point on my word docs? I have trouble finding it on a document sometimes.

    when we output that cell from the db, we often find there are

    it seems that bullet points in word docs are the worst
    offenders.
    each time i spot a new one i try to find out the chr() number
    for it and make a substitiution before the text is stored in the
    db, but its a bit hit and miss (relies on me spotting it) and its v
    time consuming
    ive tried using functions safetext and demoronize - but they
    dont seem to do what i need
    im sure im not the first person to run into this - any
    suggestions anyone?

    Paul - when you say "change it to unicode" do you mean the
    page or a setting in the db? forgive me if i'm being stupid but
    this is all new territory to me. Thank you ever so much for your
    help - does sound logical what you say :)
    Azadi - thanks very much for this (I'm pressuming that
    there's a charge for this udf) so i'll try to implement Paul's
    solution and if I can't do that I'll buy the the udf - thanks very
    much indeed for your help, really is much apprecaited.

  • Insert photo to  word doc

    how do you do this? I open a word doc , click insert photo and My photo library icon remains greyed out, i have looked up alll the help solutions and nothing works. Any ideas???

    THis is the MOST ask question - probably appears on average once per page
    The short answer is that the iPhoto library is now a package to protect it from damage. You can access photos in a number of ways - including exporting them to a desktop folder, using them and then deleting that folder.

  • Inserting and retrieving Word docs from a custom table with LOB column

    Hi,
    I'm sure I'm not looking around in the right place for some docs on this.
    Basically I need to build a custom interface in Web PL/SQL to allow a MS Word doc to be uploaded for a user's browser and also a mechanism to retrieve the doc.
    Not sure what is the 'best' column datatype to use for this either.
    Portal Forms are out of the question due to inflexibility of application.

    Does anyone know how to open a Word doc & keep the forms function? I have to fill out quarterly reports. When I open this type of Word doc, Pages eliminates the checkboxes and text boxes. A pain point, but Word doc is still usable.

  • I have two pdf docs that I used Acrobat to convert to word docs.  How do I extract one page from one doc to insert into the other doc?

    I have two pdf docs that I converted to Word Docs using Acrobat Pro.  How do I extract one page from the first doc and insert it into the second doc?  When I "select all" it grabs the entire document.  I need to take pages out, put other pages in, and edit some of the text.

    Try triple-clicking in the text that you want to select--it can sometimes be tricky to select text in a converted document. If that doesn't work, it could be that the PDF document was created from a scanned document, and OCR wasn't enabled when you converted the document. (However, OCR is enabled by default when you convert via the ExportPDF website.)
    If you're unable to select text by triple-clicking, let us know. I would be happy to take a closer look at your files.

    After I exported a PDF to a Word doc and downloaded it, I can't get the pointer tool to work. When I click on the document text, the only tool is the "move" tool. I can't edit or select text. Please advise.

    Version of Adobe: Adobe ExportPDF (not Pro)
    Operating system:  Windows 8.1
    Steps I am taking: When the PDF file is selected and opened, I clicked on Tools menu on right side of the screen; then I clicked on Select PDF file; then under Convert To, I selected Microsoft Word (*.docx); then I hit the box below that; and clicked Convert. I then see the message that says it is Converting to Export PDF Online. Then I see a link below that, that says Download Converted File. This takes me online to Adobe Acrobat .com, where, I see the command, Export PDF, and see a blue box on the same screen that says Select PDF Files to Export. I click on the thumbnail of the file I want to export. This brings up, online, a screen containing the file I wanted to convert to Word. Then, on the same screen, I click on the icon on the right hand of the screen that says Download. then I click on the box on the bottom the screen that contains the Word document I had wanted to convert. This brings up the Word doc. in Compatibility Mode the latest Word version, which I am unfamiliar with and which has a Picture Tools tab that I cannot escape from and I cannot get any selection tool other that the Move pointer, and I cannot find the Select text pointer to select any text on the page. I don't want this Word version and do not know how to return to the old version of Word that I am familiar with.

  • Insert a PDF ro Word doc into an Excel sheet

    I have to track parts.  I created a spreadsheet to do this.  We are trying to as paparless as possible is my office.  I need to insert a PDF copy or the actual Word doc into the spreadsheet so my techs can access it and indicate that the
    parts have arrived.  This spreadsheet is on a SharePoint site and so are the PDF or Word copies of the documents that the techs need.  Inserting a hyperlink will pull the PDF doc up in another web tab which is what I don't want. 
    I need to be able to pull the docs up and modify them and save them back to the SharePoint file. Help!  THANKS!!!! 

    Have you considered using a SharePoint list instead of an excel spreadsheet? You can then attach one or many documents to each row in the list.

  • Insert a spreadsheet and word docs into a PDF with hyperlinks

    I have a spreadsheet index with hyperlinks to 455 single page word docs. I want to make a single pdf by inserting the spreadsheet followed by the word docs.
    Is there a way of having the hyperlinks recognize the inserted word docs pages inside the pdf via the original hyperlinks, or do I need to remove the hyperlinks before inserting the spreadsheet and then do bookmarks for all 455 pages? Or some other method?

    I doubt that will work. But it should be easy enough to find out. If you
    print to pdf from ID, I guarantee is will not work. If you export from
    ID, I doubt it will work, but ask in the ID forum, since the creation
    does not depend upon Acrobat.

    I have a method that successfully inserts a .gif file into an Oracle 8i database table that has a column that accepts files of the type BLOB. Below is part of it to give you an idea:

    File mydoc = new File(imageFile.getPath());
    FileInputStream fid = new FileInputStream(mydoc);
    PreparedStatement pstmt = db.conn.prepareStatement("INSERT INTO blob_table VALUES (?, ?)");
    pstmt.setString(1, mydoc.getName());
    pstmt.setBinaryStream(2, fid,(int)mydoc.length());
    pstmt.executeUpdate();
    pstmt.close();
    fid.close();
    blob_table has two columns only: first is a VARCHAR2 for the name of the file, second is a BLOB for blob files.
    When I tried using the same method to insert a word doc it doesn't work.
    Can anyone tell me why? And if you have sample code that does what I want to achieve can you share it?

    Thanks for your reply.
    When I insert .gif files JDeveloper ends with a message saying "Process exited with exit code 0". I then go and check in the database and I find the image added to the table.
    With a word doc, JDeveloper does not give that message. No message at all regarding what the status of the process is. And the document is not added to the database. No error messages too. Could this be an issue with Oracle?

    1- In CR environment open a Report in which OLE object needs to be added.
    2- Click on insert and click on OLE object.
    3- A wizard pops up - choose appropriate file for e.g- Microsoft World Document.
    4- two buttons will be there-
    a> Create new - creates a new world document.
    b> Create from new - Includes a exsisting file.
    5- one more option is their in wizard -
    Show icon(check box) - shows the OLE object as an icon in report.
    6- Click on ok and place the object at required position in report.

When trying to insert object being a saved pdf documentinto Word Doc., I keep receiving the following message: [There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found.] Why?

    I don't know but I wouldn't expect it to work anyway. What do you expect to happen?

    I'm running a test on this before I get all involved in it.
    I insert a multi page Word doc into my report.
    When I run it, it only shows the first page.
    That's the first problem.
    When I export it as a Word doc, it exports only that page
    and now it's become a non editable graphic. 
    I need it to be exportable to Word and editable.
    That's the second problem.
    Am I attempting the impossible ?

    Thanks for your reply.
    We have a Word document that gets sent out to about 400 schools.
    I'm trying to take some of the redundancy out of the task by inserting
    Institution Name
    Director
    Address
    etc on the header of the document so that my colleges
    won't have to look up each school, find the director, address,
    etc and manually type it all in.  Then the report gets exported
    to Word, where further editing is done.
    Also, the tables that they have built in Word must also
    retain their integrity, being imported into AND being exported
    from Crystal, as a Word document.
    I could do this easily, and have, using text boxes, etc.  Problem
    is, it has to be done in Word. (That's what they're use to working with 
    Oh, my set up is:
    Crystal 11.5
    Stand alone desktop, no network.  (Just me and the lone prairie ...)
    Am I expecting too much ?

    Do you see disconnected Arabic or nonsense?  If nonsense, it could be an encoding problem.  Use the camera icon here to  post screenshot of what you are seeing.
    It is important to understand that MS Word for Mac has never supported connected Arabic.  You have to use some other app, like TextEdit or LibreOffice, and sometimes select the text and change the font to one of those provided by Apple, like Geeza Pro.

    I do not have a problem with any other type of image I insert into a word file. An unedited photo is able to be seen in the pdf as is a Photoshop saved .tiff version of the image. I have photoshop elements 7, Acrobat 9, and using Windows Vista.

    1. Possibly. Sometimes a PDF is bigger, sometimes smaller. Try it, and try different settings.
    2. Sending large documents by email is a common problem; the solution is to use one of many services for doing it. They are very easy to use and many are free e.g. WeTransfer
