Installation troubles on Oracle 10g

I got an error message when installing Oracle 10g: Failure initializating OCR.
That was not a problem to finish the installation, but after that I noticed that the OracleCSService service (C:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_1\bin\ocssd.exe service) was not initialized and I cannot do it in anyway.
I don't know if this is the reason of another trouble: I can't create a database, the system notifies me:
ORA-28547: Connection to the server failed; possible admin NET8 error.
I can't creat a Net service too. Anybody knows what is that? What can be the reason for the service not to start ? What could be wrong with NET8?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
You installed the product
You have set the environment variables
Now,
How are you trying to connect?
Have you created a database?
Have you configured the NET Services?

  • Installation errors with Oracle 10g Express Edition client.

    Hi,
    I want to use the Oracle 10g XE client on my Ubuntu (Lucid) laptop. I am following the installation instructions as mentioned at Installing Database Oracle XE Client. When I run the .sh file for my bash shell, I keep getting this error message:
    root@machine:/usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/client/bin# . ./oracle_env.sh
    /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/client/bin/nls_lang.sh: 112: [[: not found
    /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/client/bin/nls_lang.sh: 112: [[: not foundAnd, when I look up nls_lang.sh at around line 112, I see this:
    # Detertmine the LANGUAGE_TERRITORY part of NLS_LANG
    # we derive it from the current locale by inspecting the LC_ALL and
    # the LANG environment variable. Other LC_* environment variables
    # are not inspected.
    if [[ -n "$LC_ALL" ]]; then
      locale=$LC_ALL
    elif [[ -n "$LANG" ]]; then
      locale=$LANG
    else
      locale=
    fiHow do I get the client working ?

    So, I have been searching around to look for a method to enable the client installed on my laptop to connect to the database. Granted that, the server is not installed on my local machine. But, I am simply, unable to find any clues as to how do I specify the database name that the client should connect. The ORACLE_SID parameter needs to hold a database name; but, where are the IP address and port number mentioned for the database ? One site recommended that tnsping be used to check for database existence; whereas, tnsping is not installed. Then, the commonest hint that I keep bumping into - TNSNAMES.ORA file. Since I have only the client installed, I don't even see the network/admin folder (or whatever the path is to the .ora file) under /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0.
    It can't be this hard to connect to an Oracle server with only a itsy-bitsy Oracle installed on my local machine, hmmm ?

  • Installation problem with oracle 10g release 1 in RHEL ES 4 platform

    Hi,
    I am facing such a problem. I want to install Oracle 10g release 1.
    I am using linux 86_64
    os is RHEL ES 4 UPGRADE 5 X_86_64
    When i put the command ./runInstaller It shows os is not supported.
    Is there any way to install this oracle version.
    Can u please suggest which version os is suitable for this.
    please suggest.
    Thanks & regards

    WHICH 10gR1 software do you use? Oracle provides different versions, you need 10.1.0.3 for Linux x86-64 from the OTN download page.
    By the way I would install 10gR2.

    **but i have not bin directory under in ORACLE_HOME.please clear my doupt to apply this patch...**
    Regards,

    Also you clusterware installation installs to an ORACLE_HOME.
    Oracle does only make a differentiation, if it has to be clear, that you got a clusterware home and a database home.
    Normally if a patch is referring to $ORACLE_HOME (and the patch can be used for clusterware & database), it just means the installation directory of the oracle software installed.

  • Installation Trouble with Oracle BI Discoverer Desktop and Discoverer Administrator 11.1.1.3.0

    Hi All,
    I'm having installing this software on my Window's 8.1 64-bit machine. I'm going to Disk1 > Install > Win64 > setup.exe. The Oracle Universal Installer shows up, passes the swap space and monitor checks, and stays on "Preparing to launch Oracle Universal Installer from C:\Users etc.... Please wait ..." for a few seconds. It then promptly closes and does absolutely nothing. I've tried the setup.exe from the Win32 bit folder, and that opens perfectly fine (unfortunately mines 64-bit). I've tried running as Administrator, in compatibility mode (all of them), and even updated Java. Does anyone know of a solution?
    Also, I have a 32-bit Windows XP virtual machine installed, and when I tried it there, I encountered the same problem. This time with the 32-bit setup.exe.
    Thanks,

    I have installed both this product and the Enterprise Manager in the past (on the same laptop that I am using now), however when I try to download the file for my current class I get a dialog box that tells me that the file type is unknown and Windows does not recognize it. I am 3 weeks into the class have not been able to simulate any of the exercises because I cannot download the product. I am working on Windows Vista (ughh! same OS I used in the past), any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • SQL 2008 Problem Calling an SP on an Oracle 10G Linked Server

    Hi everyone
    I've read through a number of posts on many sites about this issue but haven't found anything that has helped me so far. The machine I'm using is running Microsoft SQL Server 2008 64bit and the linked server I've created to Oracle 10G is using OraOLEDB.Oracle. If I test the connection in SQL Management Studio it succeeds and for any queries I have using OpenQuery to select from the Oracle DB I have no problem getting results.
    The Oracle 32bit client and 64bit client versions are installed on the machine.
    My problem is that I need to exec an Oracle SP which in turn inserts into various Oracle tables. I previously had this all working fine on 32bit SQL Server 2000 installation connected to Oracle 10G. Using the same code in SQL Server 2008 I get the following error:
    Msg 7357, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
    Cannot process the object "{CALL INTF.INTF_TW_PO_REQ_INTERFACE.MAIN(NULL, 15.000000, 0.000000, 'BLPO0099998', 'BLPO0099998', '', '', 39804, 21883, 'BLPO0099998', 249, 1, 950, 'Main', 190506, 37336, '1', TO_DATE( '20090706','YYYYMMDD' ), TO_DATE( '20090706','YYYYMMDD' ), 'INCOMPLETE',37336, {RESULTSET 1, P_Success})}". The OLE DB provider "OraOLEDB.Oracle" for linked server "ORACLE" indicates that either the object has no columns or the current user does not have permissions on that object
    The call is made by the following piece of code in SQL:
    SET @execCmd = N'SELECT
    P_Success
    FROM
    OPENQUERY( ORACLE, '''+ @oracleCmd + ''')';
    EXECUTE (@execCmd);
    Where @oracleCmd = {CALL INTF.INTF_TW_PO_REQ_INTERFACE.MAIN(NULL, 15.000000, 0.000000, ''BLPO0099998'', ''BLPO0099998'', '''', '''', 39804, 21883, ''BLPO0099998'', 249, 1, 950, ''Main'', 190506, 37336, ''1'', TO_DATE( ''20090706'',''YYYYMMDD'' ), TO_DATE( ''20090706'',''YYYYMMDD'' ), ''INCOMPLETE'',37336, {RESULTSET 1, P_Success})}
    I also tried using the below snippet from another post I found and got no joy either.
    declare @result varchar(255)
    exec ('BEGIN
    ?:= your_SP_Name(''arg1'', ''arg2'', etc);
    END;
    ',@result OUTPUT) at your_LinkedServerName;
    select @result;
    OLE DB provider "OraOLEDB.Oracle" for linked server "ORACLE" returned message "ORA-06550: line 3, column 7:
    PLS-00222: no function with name 'INTF_TW_PO_REQ_INTERFACE' exists in this scope
    ORA-06550: line 3, column 1:
    PL/SQL: Statement ignored".
    I can't figure out why it doesn't work in SQL 2008 when it worked fine in SQL 2000 - PLEASE HELP!
    Thank you
    Alida Hope

    Why development on 10g and production on 8i? Either both should be 8i or both should be 10g.
    If you will keep production on 8i and development on 10g then you cannot stop such errors as there are features that are enabled by default in 10g and both the versions have very big differences.
    Just go ahead and install 8i.

  • How to Install oracle 10g in a gues OS?

    Hello All,
    I have installed Oracle Linus 5 using the template.
    Since Oracle Linux Template does not have the X server, how would one install Oracle 10g using GUI.
    Should i go for the 'un attended' installation ?
    Also, can i use the same 10201_database_linux32.zip bundle that i use for RH4 ?
    But the inside oraparam.ini, it does not 've any details about the oracle linux( only Linux=redhat-3,SuSE-9,redhat-4,UnitedLinux-1.0,asianux-1,asianux-2)
    TIA,
    JJ

    I would recommend downloading the Oracle 10g template for Oracle VM from eDelivery. This automatically installs and configures Oracle 10g for you. This is a much simpler configuration path, as the OS and Oracle are pre-configured to work under Oracle VM. There are plenty of [Oracle VM Templates|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/vm/templates.html] to chose from!
    Otherwise, I would recommend downloading and installing Oracle 10g 10.2.0.4 which includes support for installing on Oracle Enterprise Linux. You can install 10.2.0.1, but you would need to tweak some files first to fool the installer into thinking you're running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

    Got these informations in OCP Oracle database 10g new features for administrators study guide :
    "In addition to the new installation features, the Oracle 10g installer includes many performance and management enhancements over 9i. Oracle 10g groups the products into separate CDs so that you need to use only one CD at a time. The following are some of the CDs that ship with
    Oracle 10g; all these are included in one DVD:
    Oracle Database 10g
    Oracle Database 10g Companion CD
    Oracle Database 10g Client
    Oracle Cluster Ready Services
    Oracle Database Documentation Library
    The installation completes in about 20 minutes and requires only one CD. The EM Webstage and Apache, which were installed with Oracle 9i, are no longer installed with the Oracle 10g database.
    Oracle 10g has a simplified software install and database creation; the disk requirement for software is now less."

  • Oracle 9i and Oracle 10g CD's

    Oracle 9i is 3 CD's.
    Oracle 10g is only one CD.
    Why is this difference?
