InstallBootFilesForImage failed 0x80004005

Hello all,
I enabled PXE boot for OS deployment, at first it didn't work, but once I injected the NIC drivers, it started to work.
After I was able to Build and Capture a Windows 8.1 image, I injected all the other drivers for our laptop... after that, I was getting PXE-MOF errors
again, so I removed all the drivers except for my NIC driver.   Ever since then I'm still unable to get PXE to work.
Here's the troubleshooting I've tried so far.
Removed all drivers, and re-added only the NIC drivers from SCCM
Updated the boot image distributions in SCCM
Replaced the boot image in WDS
Removed and re-added the boot images, then replaced the boot image in WDS again
Re-installed WDS, .NET Frameworks 3.5 (I was getting errors updating distribution points, and this fixed it)
removed and re-added my distribution Points and management points, also configured the PXE boot options several times on both WDS and DP
I'm getting the following error
TFTP Download:  smsboot\x64\abortpxe.com
Here are my error logs

I’ve noticed that if I were to uncheck “Allow this distribution point to respond to incoming PXE requests” in my DP properties in SCCM, WDS does
respond to PXE requests, but gets error “X:\Windows\System32>wpeinit”
the error "MsiEnumRelatedProducts failed" was fixed with a re-install in the .NET frameworks 3.5, seemed to re-appear

  • SCCM 2012 SP1 OSD Multicast is failing 0x80004005

I am trying to get multicast to work on a DP. But when I kick off an OSD and get to one of the items that I have enabled multicasting (lets say the OS image) then I get the following in the smsts.log:
Failed to get MCS key (Code 0x80004005)
    ClientRequestToMCS::DoRequest failed. error = (0x80004005)
Request to MCS 'MYSCCMSERVER.SCCM.LOCAL' failed with error (Code 0x80004005)
    Multicast OpenSessionRequest failed (0x80004005)
    Sending status message: SMS_OSDeployment_PackageDownloadMulticastStatusFail
And then it reverts to a normal HTTP download. Why is this failing?

there's a thread here about issues with MCS key though this is 2007 maybe it will point you in a right direction
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/systemcenter/en-US/07c735c8-9ce9-43b9-8cf3-e7b897568ef3/sccm-multicast-mcs-signedserializedkey-is-empty
The issues I had with multicast came up when the target device was not on the same subnet and network hardware was blocking communication.

I also spent a lot of time on this. Following are the details about fixing this problem. I created 2 batch files, one for setting the environment & the other for running the packager. I run these two batch files one after the other without any problem. I have visual studio installed. Hope this helps. I have a request though, if anyone has a simple working program which calls Java program through a C program, please post it.

  • USMT Errors - Request to SMP failed with error 0x80004005

The client I am at we are working on using USMT integrated with their OSD task sequence.  Yesterday we setup a State Migration Point on the DP that is located at this office. We ran a task sequence for testing purposes that just basically does the Scan
State.  The few machines we tested this task sequence on successfully completed the task.
This morning we have tried some more testing and now the task doesn't work.  The job fails at the point where it is requesting user store space.  The log files shows that it knows about the SMP and that it request access but it fails and continues
on trying to find another available SMP.
The first few attempts the errors are based on "Failed to connect to
    \\SERVER.DOMAIN\SMPSTORED_241ADE445 (53)
"Cannot connect to http://SERVER.DOMAIN SMP root share"
"Request to SMP 'http://SERVER.DOMAIN' failed with error (Code 0x80004005)  Trying next SMP.
"SMP request to 'http://server.domain" failed with error:  E_SMPERROR_ENCRYPTKEY_EMPTY (103)
    "ClientKeyRequestToSMP failed (0x80004005)
We have removed the SMP and have re-added it.

  • Post Upgrade to R2: Task Sequence Fails with 0x80070057

one SCCM 2012 server for a while now (June/July of 2013) and have had no issues with OSD's and software deployments.  Today I decided to upgrade to R2 from CU3 and I thought the upgrade process went really well.  But after the upgrade
I attempted to perform an OSD & it failed with error 0x80070057 before the Task Sequence selection.
I had that problem ages ago when I first started using SCCM, but that was due to a missing boundary group.  I got that straightened out in June/July of 2013 and, OSD's & software deployments have been working fine since.
All the boundary groups are still defined
All the boundaries are still defined
The specific boundary this machine is in has a site system defined
The specific boundary group this machine is in has both an assigned site as well as a site system server defined

Could this be an IIS problem?

I've had problems after the R2 upgrade and had to reinstall PXE/WDS on Distribution Point to resolve.
Also ensure that you apply this hotfix after R2:

There is enough space on the site server and the site server has full control over the source directory. I wish I can give you more information but I'm hoping this is enough info to get some assistance. If more information is needed please let me know!

We usually give the DP's computer account and the site server computer account read access to these shares in our environment.

I have been trying to get SCCM 2012 installed on our network for over a month now and I have no status errors whats so ever but when ever I PXE boot the SMSPXE.log file shows these errors.
I have googled these errors but everything I find is not releated to my setup i.e. Not using HTTPS but HTTP.

Okay so I have re installed the MP and ran a script to clear up the WMI (Get-WMIObject -namespace "root" -query "SELECT * FROM __Namespace where name = 'ccm'" | remove-wmiobject) and now my MP is working. Also I changed a domain policy that set NT Authority\INTERACTIVE
to read only which seemed to break my MP when the policy updated. I can now PXE boot but after I put my password in I know get an error msg.
I have obtained the logs from the clients attempt to run the task sequence and I get the following.

  • Request User State Store Fails with error code 0x00004005

I am trying to get a machine refresh working in SCCM and am running into a road block with the user state migration. The Task sequence hits Request user state store and then fails. In the logs on the machine it shows it downloads the cert from the SMP but it fails to verify the cert. The thing is that this was working and then stopped for no apparent reason. I have added a second SMP and it has the same issue so its got to be something environmental causing this. I have found no references to the errors I am recieving that relate to the issue so I am stumped. We have a SCCM 2007 site in mixed mode. The error log is:
The task sequence execution engine failed executing the action (Request User State Storage) in the group (Capture User Files and Settings) with the error code 16389 Action output: ployment\osdsmpclient\smpclient.cpp,1743) Request to SMP 'ATXFREPSMS01.NA.atxglobal.com' failed with error (Code 0x80090006). Hi
I am getting the same issue.
    More info:
The same task works ok for one client - an xp machine that was upgraded to vista sp1 using sccm but without usmt.
If I send this machine a task which includes usmt and os deploy it works.
On 2 other machines ( so far) , the request store fails with the same error  - 0x80090006. (one of them existing vista and the other xp)
I have tried removing and adding the client from the domain but it did not help.
    Any idea?

  • Autodiscover fails in Ex2010/Ex2013 co-existence

    Dear readers,
Currently we are in the preparation phase of the migration from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013. I have followed the Exchange Deployment Assistant, but unfortunately it does not work as expected.
I think i might have created an autodiscover loop and I don’t know how to fix it. Our setup
    2x 2010CAS 192.168.2.10, 192.168.2.11
    2x 2010MBX 192.168.2.20, 192.168.2.21 (DAG01)
    2x 2013CAS 192.168.2.110, 192.168.2.111
    2x 2013MBX 192.168.2.120, 192.168.2.121 (DAG02)
autodiscover.ourextdomain.com for internal clients point to 192.168.2.110
webmail.ourextdomain.com for internal clients point to 192.168.2.110
For now company policy does not allow making the Exchange services available externally. So all the clients only connect internally (on the corporate network or using VPN), also webmail is only accessible internally.
On all the CAS servers (meaning both 2010 and 2013) I have set the internal and external URL for every service (EWS, ECP, OWA, OAB, ActiveSync, Autodiscover, Outlook Any Where) to point to the same external domain: webmail.ourextdomain.com and autodiscover.ourextdomain.com.
(This is how I interpreted it from the Exchange Deployment Assistant).
If an internal Outlook 2010 user tries to use autodiscover to connect to his mbx on 2010, he gets httpstatus 401 and 401 errors and autodiscover to <url> failed 0x80004005, 0x800C8203 and is unable to successfully connect. An outlook 2010 user with a
    2013 mbx can connect successfully.
If I change autodiscover.ourextdomain.com to point to 192.168.2.10, it is the other way around. The outlook 2010 user with 2010 mbx can connect, but the outlook 2010 user with 2013 mbx cannot.
My guess is that the configuration for the internal and external URLs is not correct, but I am not sure how to fix this. Does anyone have an idea? We have a third part wildcard certificate which I installed on all the CAS servers. This gave certificate errors
at first, for some reason clients were still trying to connect to a .local server address. This seems to be fixed after I re-created the Autodiscover vdirs.
As we have had a lot of issues with the certificate (a lot of calls at the service desk) I am a little less enthusiastic about
changing the internal and external URLs again, until I am a little more certain it is the right change to make.
    Maybe useful info:
    - Exchange 2010 did not have Outlook Anywhere enabled until I started following the Exchange deployment assistant
    - Exchange 2010 has been an upgrade from Exchange 2003 (there are no Exchange 2003 servers anymore, as than I would not be able
to start the 2013 installation at all).
    - Running Exchange 2010 SP3 ur7, migrating to Exchange 2013 cu6
Anyone any ideas or pointers in the right direction?

    Hi,
1.What about configuring outlook 2010 manually for exchange 2010 mailbox users instead of using the auto discover service ? Just tell me whether it will get succeed or not ?
I really hope you mean for just one user to test it, because we are not going to manually reconfigure outlook for 3500 users! If i manually configure one user it succeeds, if I create a new profile using auto discover where exchange 2013 is the
CAS it fails if Exchange 2010 is the CAS is works.
2.Did you have the cas array configured on exchange 2010 ?If so what is the rpc client access attribute value for all the exchange 2010 databases?
    Exchange 2010 DB's:
    RpcClientAccessServer : cas.ourintdomain.local
    Exchange 2013 DB's
    RpcClientAccessServer : cas.ourintdomain.local
3.Please run the below mentioned command on exchange 2010 / 2013 cas servers and also share me the output.
get-ClientAccessServer -Identity CASServer | fl *internal*
    https://autodiscover.ourextdomain.com/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml
4.make sure the names utilized in your environments are available on the SAN certificate .Most importantly we need to check the certificate is enabled for both exchange 2010 and 2013 services like pop, imap, iis, smtp and also certificate status should have to
    be valid.
    Get-ExchangeCertificate -Server "ClientAccess2010" | fl

  • DP's have Warning "Failed to retrieve the package list on the distribution point" - How to Clear it?

All but one of my DP's (A new one I just created) have this Warning Message:  "Failed to retrieve the package list on the distribution point".  They all seem to be working, I can update and push new content to them.
When I go to the smsdpmon.log, it has an error for a package, but I've since redistributed it, and it is working fine. (Items below are snips from the smsdpmon.log)
CContentDefinition::LibraryPackagesWmi: The package data in WMI is not consistent to PkgLib SMS_Distribution_Point_Monitoring 11/16/2013 6:00:01 PM 3920 (0x0F50)

    Failed to evaluate package PS10011B, Error code 0x80070002 SMS_Distribution_Point_Monitoring 11/16/2013 6:29:50 PM 3920 (0x0F50)
Since then, after redistributing the package, it clears up the logs... but not the warning in Monitoring:
    Start to evaluate package share for package 'PS10011B' version 0 ... SMS_Distribution_Point_Monitoring 11/18/2013 12:39:52 PM 868 (0x0364)
    Package PS10011B is verified successfully SMS_Distribution_Point_Monitoring 11/18/2013 12:39:52 PM 868 (0x0364)
So since everything appears to be working fine, how do I clear out that Warning, so I have nice Green Check Mark Icons in my Monitoring Tab, so when something actually does go wrong, I won't just ignore it since it's always been set to Warning?

I'll have to review this. The script
here, alone did not solve the my issue. Interesting that it say I do not have any inconsistencies on any my DP's now, but I run the other one on a single DP, it states I have inconsistencies still.

I wonder if the first script is not looking for INI's whereas the second one is. I verified that the INI's do exist...
I'll run the second on all of my DP's, remove the left over INI's, and report back again next week on status.
