Installer Properties -- Registry: delete a key?

I know I can easily add registry keys and values under Windows specifying them in the Installer Properties --> Registry page of LabVIEW 8.2.1.
Is it possible to delete keys and values in the same way? I tried with the '-' character as I can do in a .reg file, but It doesn't work.
Is there a simple way?

Hi,
I'm having trouble writing registry keys in Vista.  Access seems to be denied for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and only works for HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
For example, refer to the LV shipped example "write to registry.vi" and try it.
My application needs to write certain values to keys in the registry after installation then read them later.  I have been placing these values in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE until now.  Is there a work-around to writing at run-time to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE?  Is there another location in the registry which I can store the values for all users?
Thanks for your help.
Battler.
Sorry, I can't resist. The workaround is not to use Vista! And of course Windows 7.
The longer answer is you need to write code that elevates the impersonation level of the current user which will of course cause a login dialog to appear. And no there are no VIs for that so far, so it's about writing C code.

  • How to Selectively Delete ONE Key Figure from Cube....

    Hi:
    On a Daily basis (Via Process Chain), I need to do the following:
    1.  DELETE Single Key Figure from my planning cube.  When the "PYMNT DATE" is greater than System Date, then delete the

    2.  Once Deleted, LOAD the same Single Key Figure from another cube when the PYMNT DATE is GT  System Date.

  • Propagate Properties option for Primary Keys?

    Hi,
    I have a physical model Oracle Database 11g created. I would like to change Using Index option from one value to another for most of primary keys in the model. Is there a way to do it? Additionally I would like to assign all primary key indexes to one tablespace.
    Now, I have to:
    1. Double click on one of the primary keys.
    2. Change Using Index option on General tab.
    3. Go to Using Index tab and select proper tablespace.
    All these steps have to be repeated for each primary key.
    Is there a way to do it once and propagate the change for all? There is similar option on indexes but I don't see it for primary keys.
    Arek

    Hi Arek,
    unfortunately there is no "Propagate Properties" functionality for primary keys.

  • Project Build Installer Properties Slow to load, (Maximum vi size)

    I have a LabVIEW Project with 450Mbytes of source code, and drivers.  The Project was originality in LabVIEW 2009.  I upgraded to LabVIEW 2011.
    Now the Project Build > Installer Properties Menu is about 10x slower than was in LV 2009.
    I've done a mass compile, resolved all error messages in the Project, yet 2011 is still 10x slower than 2009.
    The 2011 Project will build an functional exe, and a functional installer given enough time (like 15 minutes).  During that time the computer is locked up, no other applications are functional.
    The Computer is XP, dual Core, 2.5GHz, 4Gbytes Ram, 4Gbyte Page File.
    The NI Support Desk is saying (quote)   >>>>   seem that the requirements for LabVIEW 2011 are different than the requirements for LabVIEW 2009    <<<<<
    Suggestions ???

    Does the procedure take 30 minutes or 15 minutes (first post)? Also, what is it about the installer build spec that requires further modification after you modify your exe build spec? If the exe is included in the installer, the installer build will automatically re-preview the included exe to get an updated list of files to include next time the installer is built. So unless you need to modify something about the installer spec and not the included source files, no edits would normally be required after changing your exe (or other included source files).
    Keep in mind, the previewing of the exe will take about as long as it takes to build the exe -- it's computing a list of the files that would be built without actually creating the files. A data point of interest is how much longer it takes your exe to build, comparing 2009 to 2011. Does your exe take 10 times longer to build in 2011? Longer exe build times mean longer preview operations in Installer Builder.
    Another thing to check is which distributions you're including on the Additional Installers page. Are more distributions being included in the 2011 build? Did the distributions change significantly in size since 2009?

    Yes but there's no point doing it here. As the Terms of Use make quite clear this is a User to User forum. It's Users like you talking to other Users. It's not a channel to communicate with Apple.

  • Xsql:delete-request key-columns has to be form posted data?

    I am trying to link a hyperlink "delete" on a table to a page "jobs-list-delete.xsql?jobnumber={JOBNUMBER}". When I use:
    <form method="post" action="jobs-list-delete.xsql?jobnumber={JOBNUMBER}">
    <input type="submit" value="delete"/>
    </form>
    it worked fine. but I want to use "delete" as a hyperlink instead of a button, so I tried the following:
    Delete
    unfortunately, it didn't work with the above hyperlink.
    I would like to know if xsql:delete-request key-columns value has to be form posted data instead of a query string in an URL from a hyperlink. Is there any way to work around this?
    The code I used in jobs-list-delete.xsql is as follows:
    <xsql:delete-request key-columns="jobnumber" table="jobs" transform="request-to-InsertJob.xsl"/>
    Thanks...
    Wenqi Dwyer

    <xsql:delete-request> works with a posted XML request or a POST'ed HTML form.
    To delete things with a simple HTTP GET, you can use <xsql:dml> and a DELETE statement.

  • Can't Zap the P-RAM , Can't start from an installer disk with the C-Key...

    Can't Zap the P-RAM , Can't start from an installer disk with the C-Key... or The D-Key for Apple Hardware test or run with the shift Key in Safe Mode!!!
    About a week ago I started to have problems with the Mac after 10.5.6! First the Mac after shut down would restart on its own in 10 to 15 minutes. I read in various forums about some of the 10.5.6 problems. I did a clean reinstall where the Mac created a previous system folder. After this suddenly mail, I-Chat as well as some other programs would open, then close immediately! Since I did not have things backed up because I didn't have a large drive, I dragged my files and apps to another drive and reformatted the drive zeroing out all data and did a fresh new install then brought in the combo 10.5.6 update.The Mac is running correctly but I can't Zap the P-Ram, startup from the Mac OS X installer Dvd with the C key or run Apple Hardware Test with the D key or boot in safe mode with the shift key. I can boot any of the Bootable disks from the start-up Disk in Preferences.
    I went over this with Apple and they suggested I run the Apple Hardware test. It won't run on this machine because I can't boot it with the D- Key. I ran tech Tools and every single thing checks out OK! This Mac has worked great since I got it in I believe Feb or March of 2007.

    Make sure that you don't have firmware password protection enabled. It will prevent some boot key shortcuts from working, like clearing NVRAM, etc. You can disable firmware password protection by booting off the OSX DVD and loading the utility.

  • Cannot view installer properties

    I am currently unable to build an installer for my projects. I am also unable to view the properties of installers that I created in other projects. When trying to view the installer properties from past projects the hour glass shows for a few seconds and then nothing. When trying to create a new installer I only get a message that says I must first save the project before you can create a build specification. If I acknowledge this it creates the installer icon under the build specification directory but will not allow me to do anything with it.
    Any help with this problem would be great.
    Thanks

    Duffman,
    Yes this is a very strange problem. I have the LabVIEW 8.0 Full developement package with Application Builder installed correctly and have verified the license is activated.
    To answer your questions:
    1) I have been able to build installers in the past, just last week. From the last time I was able to build an installer there have been no significant changes to my PC. I have just create many new vis and have not added any new software.
    2) I tried building a new vi and can build an exe but I cannot build an installer for that exe.
    3) When I open a project that I have created that has an installer, when I right click to get the properties I get the hour glass for a few seconds and then the pointer returns but I do not get the window that displays the properties. I do not get an error and I am still able to continue using LabVIEW afterwards. When I try to make an Installer for a new project like I said it places the Icon but when I double-click it I  get the hour glass for a few seconds and then the pointer returns. Again I can close the project or continue using LabVIEW. No error is reported by LabVIEW.
    4) The executables that I have built appear to function as designed and they run just fine on my machine.
    5) I have gone through Windows control panel to do a Change/Verify/Re-install installation of LabVIEW to verify the installations of the files again. This is also suppose to fix the registries of the applications if there is a problem. This did nothing to fix the problem except leave me more frustrated as to what the problem is.

  • Silent installation / Installer.properties issues

    1)In regards to Windows 2000 server when performing a silent installation of WebLogic
    6.0 how can I specify the Path for the start menu (Short cuts for launching)
    I can recall being able to do this prior to SP1 being bundled. Below is a copy
    of the installer.properties file Example of cmd string C:\Weblogic600sp1_win.exe
    -f installer.properties. Exe and properties file both reside in same directory
    when being launched. I noticed when installing a second instance using a silent
    properties it does not provide a second entry labeled as
    (2) in the start menu like I does when installing not using the properties file
    for a silent install.
    INSTALLER_UI=silent
    USER_LOCALE=en
    BEAHOME=c:\\bea
    USER_INSTALL_DIR=c:\\bea\\wlserver6.0sp1

    C_serverListenPort=7001
    C_serverSSLListenPort=7002
    C_password=changeme
    CHOSEN_INSTALL_SET=Server
    2)When performing a manual installation it will ask if you want it to start as
    a service. How can you do this using the silent install to avoid running installntservice.cmd
    as a post step? I have scripted it to run the cmd file once silent install completed
    but what to know if it can be in the installer.properties file.
    3)Once silent install has completed service starts you unable to access http://localhost:7001

    In addition if you were to stop the service and launch the start menu version
    cmd provided during the installation all seems to function as intended. To make

    seems to be fine.
    All seems to be straight forward what am I missing, I have read the documentation

    No you can NOT specify your program group in 6.0sp1. It would be installed to:
    BEA WebLogic E-Business Platform (BEAHOME?)
    where ? is zero or one integer number.
    This is true for both silent and GUI installation.

    You can do this by using
    INSTALL_ NT_SERVICE=yes
    in your installer.properties file. The default is no.

    I don't quite understand the problem here. Do you mean this:
    1. you finished silent install
    2. you run installntservice.cmd to install the service
    3. you started the service from control panel
    4. you tried to access http://localhost:7001 and it failed.
    is this what you mean?

When I turned it back on, the applications in the suite were all installed on my computer, but when I open them, they tell me that I am running the "extended trial" edition, and need to key the serial number again. • The Delete/Backspace key

    The following occurs frequently, is immensely detractful from user experience, and has persisted through all updates starting from the original iPhone.
    When using the delete/backspace key, I often hold it down for no more than 2-3 seconds. This is to delete usually only one word. What happens is the delete key becomes stuck, and deletes an entire sentence or paragraph. I am helpless to stop it. Several rapid taps can also trigger th.....there it went.

    i think i may have experienced this before...def. not frequently.
    what i think is happening is when you go to delete, there may be some sort of delay or lag. and so you're tapping delete. it doesnt seem to be deleting so you tape a bunch of times. the phone actually registers all those taps and deletes as many characters as taps, or similarly, continues to delete for the duration of how long you've held the delete button.
    unfortunately my only advice at this moment is to delete slowly...and patiently.
