Installing 11.5 over CR9 breaks parameter passing? (strings with digits)

This is soo very weird. Our app uses CR9 and there has generally not been a problem with customers running it in parallell with more recent versions of CR, until this. I got a report from a client that certain reports would crash with a general protection. It was absolutely impossible to duplicate, until I installed the same bookkeeping app, an app that apparently installs Enterprise 11.5.
After that, passing a parameter (m_Report->ParameterFields->GetItemByName(itemName)->AddCurrentValue(itemValue);) will crash, but only, and only if the string has a digit somewhere in the beginning, say the first 10 or so positions??
Ie, I can pass: "blablabla blabla blablabla1", but not "1blabla" or even "blabla1blabla"

Thanks for your quick answer!
For initial testing, I only had the actual 3rd party app that updated CR, but I then created a virgin Xp under VMWare, then tried installing both Xi (As we have Xi in house, but when we upgraded our deveoper system bought it with the option to use CR9) and the CR 12 runtime. Then installed our own (CR9) app. I was not able to duplicate the problem with those two setups, so I assume that the problem must lie in some of the DLLs shipped with that "other" app or with the way they install it.
I have emailed the vendor asking for more info and I will also run a snapshot of their install to try to find out what files they replace.
Even if we have stayed with CR9, we have seen very little problems with customers who have other versions of CR and the reason for us staying with CR9 is because another vendor (A banking app) that most of are clients use are also on CR9 and have no plans to upgrade.
I realise that the problem might not be with CR at all, but it was just so weird (ie a numeric within the start of a string) that I posted here in the hope that someone else might have seen it.

  • Passing string with a colon in it via a url

    I have a shuttle item I want to populate with data from field on a report, via a hyper link. The url only passes the first value to the item, despite the whole string appearing in the url. I believe it is due to the colon delimiter in the field. I ahve tried using both url encoding alternatives, but neither worked. Any suggestions?
    I found a workaround. I replaced the colon with a "~" and then replace the ~ with a colon with a before header process. I am still interested if there exists a way to do this with out shenagans.

    I had exactly the same issue. The way I resolved it was,
    On my select statement, I created a new hidden column which was just a replace(string,':',';') so replacing the : with a ;
    Then in my link referenced this new column.
    Then on the target page, create a before header process which did the reverse replace on the item, replace(:item,';',':')
    Worked a treat, and in my view not overly complicated.

  • Can I Pass String with Spaces in it To exec()

    Hello All,
    I am passing a Command in Runtime.exec() method, which is a String and contains a folder name(Folder---Name) which is having Spaces in it. For eg. c:/Folder/Folder(Spaces in between)Name/Data.java
    My Problem is when i pass it to exec() it automatically gets converted to a Folder name with only one space
    E.g c:/Folder/Folder(One Space in between)Name/Data.java,
    Because of which my command is not able to find the Folder specifed.
    I want the Original Path(c:/Folder/Folder(Spaces in between)Name/Data.java) to be passed and executed through

  • JRC bug: apostrophe in string parameter passed to Crystal Report with Command datasource to SQL Server

    Post Author: nl11087
    CA Forum: JAVA
    A single quote/apostrophe in string parameter passed to a Crystal Report with Command datasource connecting to a SQL Server database, using sqljdbc driver does not escape the special character correctly. When doing a preview in the Crystal Reports IDE it allows you to escape the input parameter as expected and work correctly, but through the JRC component it fails. For string parameters without special sql server characters I experience no problems at all. When replacing the Command with a direct table there is also no problem.
    Reproduction:
    1. create a database db1, create a table table1 with a String type column col1.
    2. Create new report Report1.rpt, create a connection to above, Add Command using 'SELECT col1, col2, col3 FROM table1 WHERE col1 = '{?Par1}' . Add a parameter field Par1 : String
    3. In your java stand alone application using JRC add the parameter Par1 with a value "Jon Doe's Value" containing a single apostrophe. Export to PDF. (I also tried MSWord and this failed too, similar behavior). Additionally, in another test try to replaceAll("'","''") to escape it, preventing the code to break, but now it does not retrieve the expected row anymore and you end up with an empty report.

  • Parameter Pass Between Portlets

    Hi,
    I'm trying to get a parameter pass between two portlets on the same page, I've looked at the PDK samples but have not been able to get either working, I'm on 9iAS R2 (9.0.2.0.1.). I've installed the PDK and loaded up the various samples. Any information or guidance appreciated. In a nut shell I'd ideally like to pass a parameter from a report (java or pl/sql) in one portlet to a portlet next to it on the same page which can then run a second report (java or pl/sql).
    Regards
    Stephen

    Hi Peter,
    We have an omniportlet that displays a graph, we want the user to be able to pick a value from this graph and pass it as a parameter to another page containing another omniportlet which would select values based on the parameter value.
    We have 9ias version 9.0.2.6.2. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
    thanks,
    Saranya

    If you Restore using last computer you synced to the password will be removed and you can restore the last backup on your computer, which includes your camera roll.
    If you enabled Photo Stream in iCloud your photos are in Photo Stream.
    If you had installed one of the many apps that can upload photos to a photo sharing site and had used it you will have your photos.
    If you have done none of these things you are out of luck. The phone comes with many tools to preserve content, but you have to use them.

  • Positional vs. named parameter passing

    Is named parameter passing always better than positional when calling a PL/SQL stored procedure? What are the benefits and pitfalls of each method. Are there instances where you prefer one over the other?

    Hi Roger,
    I personally prefer named notation due to its much enhanced clarity. It greatly helps a subsequent developer by not forcing him/her to look up the spec of the procedure or function each time they see it referenced in the code which calls it (I have a terrible short-term memory - so this is particularly frustrating to me).
    Additionally, if some whacko comes by and changes the order (but not the names) of the parameters to the referenced procedure or function - named notation protects you from having to change your code - with positional notation - you MUST change your code.
    Of course, named notation is not supported in normal SQL which calls a function, only positional is. But for PL/SQL I say use named notation all the way.
    I've never tested a comparison of performance, but I would take an educated guess that it is roughly equivalent (within a few microseconds) between the approaches.
    One example I think will show you the benefits of named over positional is a call to DBMS_STATS.GATHER_TABLE_STATS. This packaged procedure is used all of the time, but it has a large number of arguments. Changing a call to it can be challenging with positional notation if you don't remember the parameter order.
    Here's the named notation call:
    BEGIN
       DBMS_STATS.gather_table_stats (ownname               => 'SCOTT'
                                    , tabname               => 'EMP'
                                    , partname              => NULL
                                    , estimate_percent      => DBMS_STATS.auto_sample_size
                                    , block_sample          => FALSE
                                    , method_opt            => 'FOR ALL INDEXED COLUMNS SIZE 254'
                                    , DEGREE                => NULL
                                    , granularity           => 'ALL'
                                    , CASCADE               => TRUE
                                    , no_invalidate         => FALSE
    END;
    /Here's the positional notation call:
    BEGIN
       DBMS_STATS.gather_table_stats ('SCOTT'
                                    , 'EMP'
                                    , NULL
                                    , DBMS_STATS.auto_sample_size
                                    , FALSE
                                    , 'FOR ALL INDEXED COLUMNS SIZE 254'
                                    , NULL
                                    , 'ALL'
                                    , TRUE
                                    , FALSE
    END;
    /I strongly prefer to support code with the first example over the 2nd.
    Hope this helps...

  • Pass String[] (String Array) type to a parameter in "Edit Action Binding"

    Hi
    Hope you are doing fine. This is very important to me, kindly help me in this regad.
    I have a scenario where I need to pass in a parameter of type String[] that has only one value {"Name"} to a webservice that returns some values.
    I've created a WS datacontrol, dragged and dropped the return value on to a jspx, then it asks me to give the input value
    How do I pass it to the Parameter in "Edit Action Binding"?
    When I say new String[]{"Name"}, it gives me the following error
    Cannot create an object of type:[Ljava.lang.String; from type:java.lang.String with value:new String[]{"Name"}
    Similarly, I hardcoded this value in a managedBean, added it to requestScope/applicationScope and queried it using #{applicationScope.AppCreationBean.epsName}
    But this time, it says, the value is null. I guess the value is not getting initialized properly. But if i hardcode the value in the getter method, I'm again getting the error as above.
    Would some one tell me how to pass an array of type String (ie, String[]) with a value "Name" in the "Edit Action Binding" wizard itself?
    Regards
    RaviKiran

    Hi Frank
    Thanks for the reply.
    Issue resolved by initializing it in the ManagedBean.
    For some reason, when I put it in request/application scopes, it was coming as null, but when I registered the Bean in PageFlowScope, it was working!

    Please help me with extracting each alue from the parm '(25,23,35,1)' for the above purpose. Thank You.

    select

    S1     S2     S3     S4
    "25"     "23"     "35"     "1"In pl/sql you do something like l_val:= regexp_substr( '(25,23,35,1)', '\d+', 1, 1);
    If t2.att_type is type of number you will do:
    t2.att_type= to_number(regexp_substr( '(25,23,35,1)', '\d+', 1, 1))Edited by: chris227 on 01.03.2013 08:00Sir,
    I am using oracle 10g.
    In the process of getting each number from the parm '(25,23,35,1)' , I also need the position of the number
    say 25 is at 1 position.
    23 is at 2
    35 is at 3
    1 is at 4.
    the reason I need that is when I build seperate select for each value, I need to add the query number at the end of the select query.
    Please see the code I wrote for it, But the select query is having error:-
    BEGIN
    IF(pi_flag_codes IS NOT NULL) THEN
    SELECT length(V_CNT) - length(replace(V_CNT,',','')) FROM+ ----> the compiler gives an error for this select query : PLS-00428:
    *(SELECT '(25,23,35,1)' V_CNT  FROM dual);*
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(V_CNT);
    -- V_CNT := 3;
    FOR L_CNT IN 0..V_CNT LOOP
    if L_CNT=0 then
    V_S_POS:=1;
    V_E_POS:=instr(pi_flag_codes, ',', 1, 1)-1;
    else
    V_S_POS:=instr(pi_flag_codes,',',1,L_CNT)+1;
    V_E_POS:=instr(pi_flag_codes, ',', 1, L_CNT+1)-V_S_POS;
    end if;
    if L_CNT=V_CNT then
    V_ID:=TO_NUMBER(substr(pi_flag_codes,V_S_POS));
    else
    V_ID:=TO_NUMBER(substr(pi_flag_codes,V_S_POS,V_E_POS));
    end if;
    VN_ATYPE := ' t2.att_type = ' || V_ID;
    rec_count := rec_count +1;
    query_no := 'Q' || rec_count;
    Pls help me with fetching each value to build the where cond of the select query along with the query number.
    Thank You.

  • Issue with parameter passing in ie7 to php xml

    Hi
    I wondered if anyone could offer a little advice what the issue is here.
    I have a page with xml generated from php in a separte file and presented by a dataset in spry.
    The xml is OK and in firefox it all works but ie seems to barf on it.
    The situation is this:
    I have a jump menu on a front page that provides a url with anumeric parameter passed like this
    platforms.php?platform_id=1
    This parameter is picked up by php on the platforms.php page using the $_GET Array and is passed into the code in my Spry dataset to the file that runs my query and returns my xml- so basically the page displays a dataset filtered on this parameter id.
    It works perfectly in FF.
    In IE if I link straight to the page without a parameter at all- so platforms.php the page loads OK using the default parameter I have set up in the top of this page to send the default id of 1 to the code page so the spry query says platform_sql.php?platform_id=1 and the xml generator is fine with thisiel. ie I do a
    if(isset($_GET['platform_id'])){
                                                                     $platform=$_GET['platform_id'];
    }else{
    $platform=1;
    The dataset loads Ok in IE but when I pass a parameter in the url from my jump menu IE gives a blank SPRY table i- it momentarily appears with just the placeholders for my dataset elements then vanishes. The source code of the page shows the correct id was set in the spry data going to my query file.
    There is an error in ie saying there is a javascript error but its not any help- in ie fashion- FF shown no such errors.
    I thought this might be a data type thing again in the dataset but its not - I have set the elements returned to simple strings but it still does not work.
    Is there a problem passing in a parameter like this to a spry dataset?

    After about half a day of mucking round I found the problem and a solution to this problem.
    What appeared to have happened was that some of the older content in my database used html originally encoded using a WYSWYG editor called ktml.
    Later data uses Tiny MCE. It looks like the character set of the two formats is slightly different and as a result some characters rendered incorrectly when passed through XML parsing where it specifies the character set as utf-8.
    Firefox on the whole seems to ignore the issue though looking at the raw xml output of my php-xml code- where "-" characters were (dashes) there was a question mark character shown. None the less in actual use on my page the xml was produced and the dataset worked out.
    In IE, it barfed at these same characters and failed to return the xml dataset.
    What confused the issue more was some of my smaller datasets if they by chance never had a "-" character in rendered OK in IE- hence my default dataset (platform_id=1) worked in IE. After much experimenting I noticed other ids worked too if there was never such a character.
    How I got round it was to wrap my server side data in the utf8_encode() function, and now all my xml is clean.
    The javascript error being thrown was a red herring though I could not tell until I managed to run my page in ie7 with Visual Studio Express error console running- I had this on a spare machine at work so could debug with it.
    All sorted now- now just need to find away to wrap all my datasets in collapsible panels that work.

  • Installing Windows 7 over XP on a Mac Pro

    Hi Folks,
    I have Windows XP dual booting on my Mac Pro using Bootcamp.  I want to install Windows 7 over Windows XP.  I know I will loose all of my windows files and will need to reinstall all windows software.  But will this work?  Will it impact my mac os?  Are there any issues I should be aware of?
    Any help/suggestions would be most appreciated.
    TIA,
    Shane

    Lion is the easiet way to get current drives and because Apple security is better on 10.6.8 and Lion. Lion though really needs to reformat the drive the OS goes to (keep the old one as dual boot backup) and needs to add Lion Recovery.
    There are no Apple support drivers w/o 10.6.3+.
    8 is free and runs well or better -
    so just boot Windows 7 and format the partitiion. What's to know? You want Windows 7 Pro if you have two processor (dual socket) or want to use more than 16GB RAM.
    You do not want 32-bit. But it does matter what Mac model, 2006-7? or later. 2008 has full support for Windows 64-bit, the others don't but then you get stuck with trouble booting and trouble using more than 1.9GB making it next to impossible. That is and will be an issue.
    And you need 10.6.3 DVD to have the Apple support software.
    The number of threads moved and placed in wrong forum (Mac Pro turns out to be MacBook Pro) so I have to ask and because there ARE issues with Windows 7 on early Mac Pro model.

    I had iLife pre-installed on my aluminium Macbook 2009 with OSX Leopard on it. My hard drive broke but got most of the info off it and just installed snow Leopard on to a new drive and then downloaded and installed Mountain Lion over it. Now I don't have iLife anymore. How do I get it back?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
    Mac OS X doesn't come with iLife applications, so you have to install them manually after installing Mac OS X.
    Insert the Applications disc or Mac OS X Install Disc 2 DVD and install iLfe applications. Then, open  > Software Update, and install the latest update. If you want, you can purchase iMovie, GarageBand and iPhoto in the App Store, so you will get the most recent version

  • How to install windows 7 over windows 8 HP 2000- 2b16NR

    So, I purchased this laptop at a pawn shop a couple of years ago, and it has served me pretty well up until now.  After the latest windows update, something went terribly, terribly, wrong.  For some unknown reason I am now stuck with Windows 8.1 Evaluation with the license expired, which means it shuts itself down EVERY hour.  I'm done with this, I hate the Windows 8 interface anyway, now its time to go back to something I know and love. I've read up on a lot of these posts, and joined the forums only because I did not see another post that was in direct relation to my own model number.  If someone could please guide me through the process of installing Windows 7 from a disk, it would be ever so helpful.  If you could also post a link pointing me in the right direction for all the drivers specific to my computer, that would be awesome as well, since I'm no techie, and really don't know a whole lot about this sort of thing outside of basic knowledge. Thanks in advance for the help!

    I got my hands on a bootable copy of Windows 7.  Everything loads up just fine until I make the settings to US English etc, and click install, when I do that I get this error message: "The product key does not match any of the Windows images availible for installation.  Enter a different product key." Which doesn't make any sense to me, because since I've had this computer everything has updated just fine, and worked great up until this stupid update to 8.1. That being said, when I go into other options and select 'Reset my PC' I get another error message: "Unable to reset your PC.  A required driver partition is missing."  I've seen on some other posts where having the drive partitioned in the right way (format I guess?) is another issue with installing Windows 7 over 8.  If this indeed another source of the problem, how do I go about fixing it?
