  • Sql*loader 11g - Error ORA-12899

    Hi All,
    I'm using Sqlload for inserti into a 11g db some csv file from db2.
    My server is a Linux o.s. with Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit.
    I receive this error ORA-12899: Value too large for column on all file I try to load.
    NLS for my db is:
    SQL> select parameter, value from nls_database_parameters where parameter like '%CHARACTERSET%';
    PARAMETER VALUE
    NLS_CHARACTERSET AL32UTF8
    NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET UTF8
    Have you any idea?
    Thanks very much for help
    Regards
    Giovanni

    In internet I found this short message:
    “AL32UTF8 is a multi-byte characterset,that means some characters are stored in more than 1 character, that's true for these special characters.
    If you have same table definitions in both databases you likely face error ORA-12899.
    This metalink note discusses this problem, it's also applicable to sqlloader:
    Import reports "ORA-12899: Value too large for column" when using BYTE semantic
    Doc ID: Note:563893.1”
    By metalink, I can see the Note linked to a one Oracle Internal Bug for Oracle 11g.....
    I'm waiting you suggestion... thanks very much in advance.

    Hi experts,
    I am new to oracle.
    I have created a database call 'Play' and also created a table 'tbPlay'.
    I also inserted some rows here.
    After that all the database operations were working fine here.
    After restarting the machine, I logged into the database and none of the database operations are working.
    When I do query 'Select * from tbPlay'
    It give me the following error:

  • After installing MAWI error ORA-01031 when trying to connect as sysdba

    I've installed mawi 2.18 on a brand new 10.2.0.5 ORACLE_HOME.
    After installing the patch i cannot connect anymore to the database as sysdba: the error i got is:
    ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
    If i unset TWO_TASK (as stated in mawi install procedure) and replace it by ORACLE_SID it works.
    What's the correct setup to handle both sysdba connection and MAWI setup ?
    thanks
    Chris

    You could create two seperate env files. The EOF.env for TWO_TASK access and then another env file of yoru choice for SYSDBA access replacing TWO_TASK with ORACLE_SID and depending on whether you are using sysdba access or regular MW access you would execute the correct env file. I would also place the SYSDBA env file in the actual ORACLE_HOME directory.

    Can you please tell me why the sqlldr is throwing error?The data seems correct to me.

    Hi,
    Now again I am facing problem..
    I mean my log file throws error
    "Record 2: Rejected - Error on table OWBREP.ADDRESS, column USER_GROUP.
    ORA-12899: value too large for column "OWBREP"."ADDRESS"."USER_GROUP" (actual: 27, maximum: 2)"
    and my record when I see in bad file is:
    "0000810722,3,00000000,00000000,H,A,Y, , , , , ,1777 Hull Road, , , ,Mason,MI,48854,   ,            , , ,12-MAR-02,N,0,,, ,00000000,0,FAC, , ,N,N, ,1777 Hull Road,Mason, MI 48854, , , , , , , ,12-MAR-02,10-FEB-05,FIX075_ADDR_VERSION_UPGRADE,00,,"
    I have checked my control file and the table structure .They are same.
    The problem is that I have an address field before this user_group column which has value like "Mason,MI,48854" .So sql loader is reading these as separate columns because of comma.That is why the order is getting messed up and I am getting this error.Can you suggest what should I do resolve this kind of error?

  • Oracle 11g - Error ORA-22275: invalid LOB locator specified

    Getting error during oBlob.freeTemporary() as
    clearBlobValues() throws Exception
    oracle.sql.BLOB oBlob = oset.getBLOB(i);

    Action: For (1), initialize the LOB locator by selecting into the locator variable or by setting the LOB locator to empty. For (2),(3), (5) and (6)pass the correct type of locator into the routine. For (4), remove the trigger body code that updates the LOB value."
    but not sure how to go about this. Can anyone lends a helping hand?

    You should try to post a small but complete example that allows to reproduce the issue with:
    1. your 4 digits Oracle version (client and server)
    2. the language you are using.

  • Can't Install 11g Db, Error ORA 28547/24324/01041

    hi,
    I was trying to install db 11g and the installation stopped half way through with 3 errors.
    1.ORA 24324: SERVICE HANDLE NOT IDENTIFIED
    2.ORA 01041: INTERNAL ERROR, HOSTDEF EXTERIOR DOES'NT EXIST
    3.ORA 28547: CONNECTION TO SERVER FAILED, PROABLY NET ADMIN ERROR.
    I have just trained on oracle application developper and very new to installing a personal database.
    My machine is a pentium duo core 1.7, 2gb ram and 120 hdd and my OS is XP professional sp2. I connect through this machine
    through my office lan to oracle 9i db in my company server.
    I have tried to set up a 11i DB Personal and 10g developer suite on the same machine.
    I could figured out the 1st error ORA-01041 and understand that the Environment variables have to be changed before I try to
    reinstall 11g.
    As I checked up the variable from System>advanced>environment variables it is showing a very long string which is
    (C:\app\ravid\product\11.1.0\db_1\bin;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\Program
    Files\Intel\Wireless\Bin\;C:\ORANT\BIN;)
    After looking this up in the c:\oracle folder trace the string only uptil 'bin'.
    I have DEVELOPER 2000 NT with Forms runtime and Graphics runtime already on the machine however i did not see any path in the
    system environment variable for this, or could it be that the string i mentioned above has that included too..one thing i know for
    sure is there was no oracle home before i tried to install the 11g db.
    Could someone also help me out with the 1st and 3rd errors as i don't know what they mean?
    Will really appreciate if you can help me through this.
    Thanks in advance for your time and advice.

    Hi
    I'm installing 11g on XP machine. During the Database Configuration Assistant I get an error ORA-12631 : Username retrieval failed.

    I had the same issue and resolved it by changing the SQLNET.ORA (make sure you change the right file, there can be more on your hard-drive(s))
    +# This file is actually generated by netca. But if customers choose to+
    +# install "Software Only", this file wont exist and without the native+
    +# authentication, they will not be able to connect to the database on NT.+

  • Error ORA-12154 trying to connect with instant client 11g / LDAP on Ubuntu

    Hello,
    I have successfully installed instant client 11.2.0.2 and sqlplus on my Ubuntu 11.04 workstation. I am able to successfully connect to DB's defined in tnsnames.ora, but when the resolution is (or should be) by LDAP, I get error
    ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
    Note: while it's fine for testing, it's not a viable option to setup all the DB's defined in the OID in tnsnames.ora - I need to use LDAP.
    My setup is as follows:
    Install folder: /opt/oracle/instantclient_11_2
    TNS_ADMIN=/opt/oracle/instantclient_11_2/
    sqlnet.ora
    NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH=(TNSNAMES,LDAP)
    I am certain that tnsnames.ora and ldap.ora are valid, as I can connect successfully on another machine with the full client installed using the same files.
    I tried to setup tracing in sqlnet.ora as follows
    TRACE_LEVEL_CLIENT = SUPPORT
    TRACE_DIRECTORY_CLIENT = /tmp
    TRACE_FILE_CLIENT = sqlnet.trc
    but not trace file gets generated in /tmp - am I doing something wrong ? (Note, I also tried to set DIAG_ADR_ENABLED=OFF as suggested by Laurenz Albe in Instant client don't work trace but that did not help)
    I checked DocID=359206.1 but I don't think that applies as I'm on 11g.
    Hope someone can help. Thanks in advance !

    rgoold, you are a star ! I should have thought about line endings of course. Many thanks for your suggestion, that fixed the problem.

  • Error ORA-24247 after migrating from 10g to 11g

    Hi all,
    After a migration from a 10.2.0.3 (32bits) database to a 11.2.0.3 (64bits) database, we are facing a problem related to the UTL_SMTP package. I vale already created a ACL, as you can see below:
    -- create acl
    BEGIN
        DBMS_NETWORK_ACL_ADMIN.CREATE_ACL (acl => 'user_processos.xml',
                                                                         description => 'abc',
                                                                    principal => 'PROCES',
                                                                    is_grant => TRUE,
                                                                    privilege => 'connect');
    END;
    -- assign acl
    BEGIN
        DBMS_NETWORK_ACL_ADMIN.ASSIGN_ACL (acl => 'user_processos.xml'
                                                                    host => 'rac-abc',
                                                                 lower_port => 1521,
                                                                 upper_port => NULL);
              END;The problem is: After we try to execute a procedure that calls UTL_SMTP, with user PROCES the error ORA-24247 is raised. I did some research and they all point to the it is necessary to create an ACL to solve this probles, but the ACL already exists, as you can see above.

    Hi,
    I had the same issue, well multiple issues, with this at first. You should find the solution in one of these links. Make sure you have done each step in the lists and it will work.
    [url http://www.ora00600.com/scripts/databaseconfig/ORA-29278.html]ORA-29278 SMTP
    [url http://www.ora00600.com/scripts/11g/UTL_SMTP_ORA-06512.html]ORA-06512: at SYS.UTL_SMTP
    There are various parameters and configuration steps you need to make sure you have performed for it to work.
    Hopefully that helps,
    Rob

    To answer my own question, while computer is turned off, (after taking anti-static precautions) plug power to sata drive.
    Connect sata data cable to M/board, do not connect sata data cable to drive.
    Enable sata 1 & 2 in bios, boot to windows.
    Drivers are installed for device.
    Then carefully plug sata data cable into sata drive.
    Windows detects new hardware.
    Enter Disk Management & partition/format to your hearts content.
    Thanks to those who had a look at my post.  Hope this helps someone else.
