How do I install a downloaded font so it can be used by Pages?

Fonts aren't components of applications but components of the System.
If you want it to be available from every user account, store the font in the folder :
Macintosh HD:Libraries:Fonts
If you want it to be available from a single account, store it in :
Macintosh HD:Users:<yourAccount>:Libraries:Fonts

I installed a new Font called "FOLK" it appears in the FontBook application but when I launch Pages and try to use it I do not see the font in the list. What gives?

Hi Vero1974, Thank you for replying. I appreciate you taking the time to help me with this problem. Unfortunately clicking on the font did not work fo rme. I fort of found the answer on Apple's website in support. I had to go into applications and select the Font Book. The website's instructions did not work after that. I had to figure it out on my own. You are very kind for helping me. Have a wonderful weekend!

Thank you! It worked when I added it to FontBook on my Mac. I checked to ensure it was installed in the Fonts directory on my PC, and it was. So I closed out of Illustrator CC then relaunched it, and voila! There it was. Thank you for your support!

How can I get Font Book to install new fonts with Lion OS X without crashing?

Font Book is unresponsive using Lion 10.7.1. When I click on Font Book icon in the dock, I get "Application not Responding". Can't install any new fonts. Anyone else having this issue?
I can get to the open Font Book window if I click on Mission Control to get there, but once there I see spinning wheel, which does not stop.
Any suggestions on how to get Font Book to work well on Lion?

Quick update... I removed all non System fonts from ~/Library/Fonts and deleted com.apple.fontbook.plist from ~/Library/Preferences.
Now FontBook doesn't crash when launched.
I think I'm going to use a 3rd party application to manage all non Apple/System fonts. Hopefully that will avoid any future problems.

Trying to index PDF files to be uploaded to IBM Content Manager OnDemand. I work for a utility that now keeps a digital copy of customer bills, stored as PDFs. We are moving to mid range servers to isolate for performance spikes, without service degradation. But the font files in the bills need to be recpognized by the PDF Indexer (licensed) part of the IBM product.
So these font files need to be found by this ADOBE integrated product. Use o fthe resource files should save us about 93% of the storage that will otherwise be necessary.

I'm trying to install a new font into my MacBook. The font appears in the font folder but when I try to use it in Word the font cannot be found. Any ideas?

Where did you install it? What font is it? There may be a conflict with an existing font, or the font you're trying to use may be corrupt.

Hi all,
I have installed a new font in my computer, which I am able to see from word or from my old version of pages, but not from the new pages that comes with OS X mavericks. Anybody knows anything about it? Now that I've opened my document in pages 5.0 I cannot open it again with the old one 4.3, so I am stucked with no option to use the font I need... Any ideas?

That's not the way to do it, you need a couple more steps.
Insert the CS4 'Extras' DVD (something like that; it's clearly labeled). From within the "Install new fonts" dialog, browse to the DVD and in there to the folder containing the fonts you want to install. If you are there, wait a bit while the list is being read. If the list fills up, select the ones you want to install (or simply choose "Select All") and press OK.
(Note that this has

I have downloaded new font files (.sit format)
.sit is an stuffit archive. You need to unpack that before you actually have a font file to put anywhere.

Installed new fonts, now Chrome has weird fonts instead of Times?

I installed some new fonts on my mac and now Google chrome has weird fonts (assumably apart of the new ones I installed) replacing the standard Times and other fonts on some occassions. I took some screen shots to demonstrate this:
Those are the two weird fonts. I'm not sure what they actually are called. I went into chrome and switched all of the font options to Times but it didn't change anything.
Please help because this is really quite annoying.

Issue with adding new fonts in Lion

I'm trying install two new fonts on my Mac Book Air and cannot get it to allow me to add them to the Font Book. (I've just successfully added the same fonts on to my Mac Book Pro which runs Snow Leopard, so this is definitely a Lion issue.)
I've created a new font library and then tried adding the fonts to it but it refuses to validate the font saying that '1 serious error was found. Do not use.' Any ideas of how to remedy this as I urgently need to use the font?
