Installing APACHE on MAC

Hi, I have been struggling for a while trying to configure my MAMP, I've work with Linux before and I manage to configure my LAMP pretty well. But MAC is ginving me a hard time. What I've could do so far is starting the apache serve although i dont know if the apache server I started is the one that i am seeing on my browser, that because when i go to localhost i see the It Works! message, but if i change the index.html in /Library/WebSever/Documents/ and reload the browser or open another browser and search the address localhost, I am still getting the same It Works message and not the one i'd change. I have try different browsers, clearing cache, incognito windows. I getting crazy here. I would appreciate some help

Mac OS X has Apache built-in. I'll ask this thread be moved to the developer forum, where more people would know how to properly set it up. Note: Mac Pros are desktops an Macbook Pros are notebooks. MAC is an acronym for media access control, a hexadecimal address for network devices, and Mac is the shorthand name for Macintosh.

Reinstall just apache from Mac OS 10.4 Install CD

I installed an application to enable php with the os installed apache, ended up not liking the app and deleting it. Since, apache (personal web sharing) is faded and says that it did not come installed on this computer and to use the mac os install disk.
Where can I find the files on the CD to replace/install on my harddrive to start completely fresh again?

This Apple doc talks about optional installs without having to reload your OS -- but Apache isn't on the list.
I think you have two choices available to you:
(1) Download Pacifist to extract the needed installer pieces, that you can't normally get to, from the OS X installer CD (I am not familiar with this product so can't attest to its efficacy or user-friendliness) or
(2) do an "archive and reinstall" of your OS from the installer CD. You'll have to go into the "Previous Systems" folder and move the applicable customizations of your OS back over into the new system directory after you have done the Intel or PPC combo update and any security updates via Software Update. After all that, then you can delete the "Previous Systems" folder.

If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then either copy or drag it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

Installing Apache 2.4.3 on OSX 10.6.8

Hi,
I'm trying to install Apache web server on Mac OSX 10.6.8. On my first attempt with ./configure, I was informed that my apr version was too old. So I downloaded apr and apr-util, and as instructed by the Apache INSTALL doc, I upacked those files and moved their directories to httpd-2.4.3/srclib/apr and httpd-2.4.3/srclib/apr-util:
~/Downloads/httpd-2.4.3/srclib$ ls MakefileMakefile.in     apr          apr-util
Then the Apache INSTALL doc said to run configure like this:
~/Downloads/httpd-2.4.3 $ ./configure --with-included-apr
Then I got a new error:
configure: error: pcre-config for libpcre not found. PCRE is required and available from http://pcre.org/
So I looked at the Apache installation docs here:

which say:
REQUIREMENTS
Perl-Compatible Regular Expressions Library (PCRE)
This library is required but not longer bundled with httpd. Download the source code from http://www.pcre.org, or install a Port or Package. If your build system can't find the pcre-config script installed by the PCRE build, point to it using the --with-pcre parameter. On some platforms, you may have to install the corresponding -dev package to allow httpd to build against your installed copy of PCRE.
So I downloaded pcre and installed pcre with ./configure, make, make install, which seemed to install pcre correctly. But when I tried to run ./configure for Apache, Apache still couldn't find pcre. So next I tried:
~/Downloads/httpd-2.4.3$ ./configure --with-included-apr --with-pcre=../pcre-8.32/pcre-config
and this time ./configure seemed to end normally.
On to make:
~/Downloads/httpd-2.4.3$ make

Any ideas what went wrong or what I should try next? The Apache install web page says:
On some platforms, you may have to install the corresponding -dev package to allow httpd to build against your installed copy of PCRE.
But I can't find any information on where "the corresponding -dev package" can be downloaded.

Now I can't get a cgi script to execute. Apache is returning the text of the script. I've tried to follow exactly what the Apache CGI tutorial says here:

I also followed the directions in the perl cgi script, printenv, that was included with Apache, and Apache returns the text, rather than executing the script. Here is what the cgi-bin directory looks like:

To install Apache, PHP

Hi all,
To install Apache, MySQL & PHP, i would like use MAMP Pro (Macintosh, Apache, MySQL ans PHP).
MAMP Pro allows easy installation and administration of the
development environment under MAC OS X. But somebody knows if the installation process is the same
on Mac OS X Server (10.6 in my case) that on Mac OS X?

The installation of OS X Server and MAMP are completely and totally different, and the software versions involved are different.
As you're probably aware, OS X Server 10.6 already contains MySQL, php, Apache and related, and (for this part of the OS X Server environment) administrative interface known as Server Admin.app.
If you want to use MAMP, you'll have to shut down those parts of OS X Server, if that's what you're using. Only one application can be active on a port, such as Apache on TCP port 80. In particular, you'll have to launch Server Admin.app and shut down the services you want to use from MAMP. Once you have these components of OS X Server shut down, then you can install MAMP as you would on OS X client.
If you don't want to shut everything down, you can use MAMP on non-standard ports; I haven't tried that with OS X Server, but it works with OS X client. (OS X client also includes Apache, and can have that active on TCP port 80.)
FWIW, MAMP is generally not recommended for use on production sites and on Internet-exposed sites. It's set up for use during development. OS X Server versions are set up for use in production sites, though 10.6 itself is getting old.

Installing Apache Derby

Hi All,
I'm having huge problems finding all the required software
and following the myriad of instruction threads for installing
Apache Derby. I desperately need some help to get me going. I'm
particularly interested in producing AIR desktop applications and
hence the need for an embedded database.

Finally, I found a coherent set of instructions here:

You just have to be a little careful interpreting some of the
example shell commands when installing and setting the envirnoment
variables, but other than that it worked a treat and I was up and
running in less than an hour.

I have just the regular version, not Professional.
I mean "les integrated", in the sense that you really run Fusion "in a window". The more "integrated" approach means that Windows applications run as if they were for the Mac, and you do not see the Windows interface at all. I personnaly think tjat is too confusing. There is nothing wrong with it, just a bit more confusing. i like having it clear that Windows is in a seperate Window.

When I downloaded video from my phone, I couldn't hear the sound because Quicktime player 10 automatically opened the file and there was no sound, When I opened the file in quicktime 7 Pro, the audio was fine. I would prefer to have all movie files open automatically using my Pro version. Any suggestions? When I trashed the QT player 10 and clicked on the .3g2 movie file, it didn't automatically open with QT 7 Pro. Instead a window opened wanting to convert the file to Flash. I don't want that to happen.

Goto File > Get Info or (CMD I)
In the Get Info window, scroll down to "Open with:"

Is it possible to partition the internal hard drive of my MacBook Pro and install an older Mac OS (10.6.8) on the second partition with OS 10.9.2 on the other? I'd like to be able to boot to the older OS when I need Appleworks and few other applications that aren't available on OS 10.9.2.
Any suggestions?

Here's an update. I was successful in creating two partitions on my internal drive, and in installing OS 10.6.6 on the second partition, as per your guidence. I now have it up to 10.6.8 with all the security updates and AppleWorks. A great thing.
Some thoughts:
• The partitioning had one hitch; it failed at first. But once I "repaired" the disc with Disc Utility the partitioning went thru.
• The partitioning took a long time in 'resizing the partition.' A few hours I think it was. Lots of progress bar watching.
• If I had it to do again, I'd size the two partitions differently. My original data was occupying about 230 Gb of the 320 Gb disc. I made the new partitions share the space, about 230 and 75Gb. That left very little available space for the main disc. I ought to have put some breathing room in there. As it is, it's an incentive to clean up all those files, especially all those iTunes files. I now have about 10% of available space there and mean to continue deleting.
So, all in all a good project that got me where I wanted to go. Thank you for your help.

I wanted to install windows for Mac and I had vista so I put I the disk and installed it then it loses my computer wen I turned it on it went straight to windows and it asked me to install it and put in the windows box code I found out I didn't have Ma.

The two other posts are correct... so I'll just clarify. What's happening right now is your system is trying to boot into Windows in order to finish the installation. What you want to do is make it boot into OS X. As mende1 indicated, with your system off, hold down the Option key and continue to hold it while you turn the system on. You will eventually be presented with an option to select which partition you would like to boot from. Choose OS X. After you get into OS X, again, as mende1 indicated, change the Startup Disk to OS X. What this will do is cause your system to automatically boot into OS X when you restart it instead of you having to use the Option key when booting each time.
Relaunching BootCamp Assistant will allow you to remove your Windows installation and partition.

A12E5 is a download error. Please follow the mentioned steps:
Mac:
Navigate to Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE and rename to OOBE.old .
Navigate to Applications/Utilities and trash Application Manager and Creative Cloud desktop folder.
Download and install CC desktop again. If still the issue persists then restart Mac in safe boot and try installing again: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/start-safe-boot-mode-mac.htm l .
